My husband and I were in the store from 5:00 to 6:00. We saw about 10 employees in this giant store. None looked busy. Most looked bored. Despite the fact that there were only a couple of other customers we were completely ignored even though we spent about half an hour studiously looking at kayaks. Had more than one employee walk right by us and no one spoke. Felt like we were in "the sixth sense". Guess I will spend my $500 birthday money somewhere else. read more

Both the guy I spoke with at the counter and the guy he called to help me couldn't have been more "I could care less if you buy anything". Reaaaaaaally nice guy named Daniel in the bike department is very helpful and knowledgable. He was slammed today but very patient and friendly with my 3 year old. He installed a kick stand for his little bike in a matter of minutes. Very nice to have him near and my son was thrilled with his newly tricked out bike. read more

Dick's Sporting Goods sends me emails of specials because I joined their little buyer's club thingy. I saw there was a Cyber Monday special =- take 25% off one item. I have been wanting a kayak. So I get online, go pick out a 700.00 kayak get the discount and think wow- this is great. Then I look at the shipping- which is free up to $20.00, but shipping for the kayak is $210.00! Really? So I stop right there, call the Dick's nearest me and ask if I can buy online, take advantage of the 25% sale and pick up locally- first no one knows... I get passed around, accidentially cut off, then told "No, sorry- online only" I explain to this new voice that shipping is $210.00 - to which I am told "May it would just be cheaper to pay what's on the price tag instead of trying to take advantage of a situation". Why would anyone waste time in this store other than to use it as a showroom before you buy at Amazon? Everything is always picked over (especially shoes) and no one that works there cares. They don't know their products, and they are never around. The store manager is also a joke - he sets the tone for the employees (he also hides in his office so he doesn't have to deal with those darned customers). They didn't have the shoes I wanted (of course), but they said they could order them and have them delivered to my place in 2-3 days. When i went to pay, they told me it would be a $16 charge for 2-3 day delivery. I balked, because the sales person originally said free delivery. The store manager said it would be $16. So I walked out, ordered them from Amazon for $35 cheaper and got them in two days. I had never considered Amazon for sports clothes and gear, but virtually everything at Dicks is available at Amazon for less (in every color and size(. And it's a much easier process. Great customer service. I don't know what the other reviews are referring to because we were asked multiple times of we needed help. The store layout is AWFUL. Only 4 fitting rooms in completely separate areas with no single line or way to tell which ones are occupied. With a store this large there HAS to be a central fitting room area. I'm recovering from a total hysterectomy and Dicks was so nice. I needed to get a few things for christmas and they were so kind and helpful. They brought me a electric scooter and even said I could ride it out to my car. My sister and I were so impressed with their compassion. It was 2 days before christmas so the store was crazy. I went back with a smile to resolve the problem. Although the guy in customer service processed my $70 refund quickly (that was how much they overcharged me when you added the missing discount and the extra shirt) he acted as though he was doing me a favor by providing the service. Prices are higher but we have shopped here to support local stores. I've changed my mind after today. We wanted a portable basketball goal, but none had a price displayed. When we asked for help, an employee told prices. We selected one and went to buy the product, only to be told at the cash register that it was actually $100 more. The manager acted like it was our fault. Terrible customer service. I looked online and can get the same product for the original quote on Amazon. I'll be doing that. read more

Fabulous customer service on Christmas Eve. I drove down after calling to have them hold something. They ended up selling the item they held for me. But they have me a better product for a lesser price and figured out how to get a rather large box into my small trunk. Very nice guys and I would drive the 30 mile round trip for their service again. read more

I must be outside of the target market or something. This place bats about 1/10 with me. I can never find what I'm looking for! Examples: - Pellet Gun Pellets - They only have .17, not .2 or .22. - Saltwater Fishing Gear - They have virtually none and what they have is junk. - Little Kid Fishing Poles - There is nothing for kids in the 3 - 6 year old range. Academy has a ton. - Coleman 4-Person Tent - They only had a Field and Stream 4-person tent and that brand, if you haven't tried it, is crap. - Bikes for kids - Their selection is poor at best. I needed to buy 2 bikes, one for a 3 year old and one for a 6 year old. - Shorts / Shirts for knocking around - They only have the main stream redneck patterns. Their sizes are in short supply. - Men's Shoes - They have a pretty poor selection. - BBQ Supplies - They have none. Anyway, it's unfortunate that this place isn't an Academy. No, I don't have an interest in Academy...I just think it's much better. Dick's is an example of the worst attributes of a big box store. No originality, no regional specialties (unless you want to load up on UT gear), and people that are there for their hours and apparently no other reason. I don't see this place making it. read more

Well, I live half way between Dick's Sporting Goods and Academy. I was going to give Dick's a shot at my business, with dove season coming up I need to pick up a few things. But after reading the reviews I think I will be heading for Academy. Customer service is a big deal to me and I don't care to suffer incompetent, rude staff. I'll check the reviews from time to time and see if things improve. Maybe they will replace or retrain their management and staff to improve the image. read more

This is really a review of the corporate Dick's. I purchased a gift card for my husband on 12/27/16 for him to purchase a new golf club. He ordered one online. He put in the gift card number but before he could complete the transaction he was made to enter a credit card number. When he was notified the club was in he went to pick it up but the club had been charged to his credit card and not the gift card. The person waiting on my husband told him it would take about an hour to credit the card then charge the gift card. (How many people really can believe that remark??) There was plenty of money on the gift card to have purchased the golf club! He didn't want to wait and hour so he decided to use the gift card to purchase some golf balls, etc. He went to get the golf balls and returned and his gift card was gone. The person waiting on him walked around with him trying to find the card - they said they remembered giving it back to him and that he put it in his wallet. Since the could not find the gift card he was given the corporate customer service number (HA!) to call and have the card stopped. Well, I called 877.846.9997 was told to call 512.502.9231 then told to call 844.1208.0167 was then told to call 877.720.6608 was then told to call 800.287.9060 was then told to call 866.677.4771 then told to call 800.287.9060. Needless to say I was on hold for quite a bit for each number dialed. I finally got a nice person and she took down all of the information and said she would give it to the appropiate department but she thought since I had all the information they needed that Dick's should credit me the amount on the card - the staff person had looked up the available balance so we had that. The gift card should have been used in the first place then this would not have happend and I would not have been on the phone for hours!! All of this happened on 4/21/17 and we still have not heard from anyone connected to Dick's! I think this is the worst customer service I have ever encountered. read more

I recently went to Dick;s to purchase baseball gear for my son. I called ahead to ensure there would be someone with extensive knowledge of the equipment I was looking for. One young man that was in the department I would be shopping in stayed thirty minutes after his shift ended to assist us. Purchasing the wrong bat or glove could be a pretty big mistake for even a little league player. I really appreciated his willingness to assist and effort he gave to ensure we were getting what we needed. We then went to the shoe department, the young man working that department was just as helpful. He assisted us in getting the correct shoe for my son as well. Even though he was the only one in his dept. stretched among four different families he treated us like we were the only customers there. I really was happy these two store associates were so eager to make our shopping experience a hit. read more

I have been so blown away by the support that Triston in the bike department has provided me. I have taken different bikes in 3 different times and he has done an exceptional job in getting them tuned up. Dick's is extremely blessed to have someone like Triston there. I have had to work with the managers at this store on two separate occasions, both of which were great experiences. The first time I needed large quantities of 5 gallon water jugs for the school band and I needed them fast. Kristi did an amazing job of getting them delivered from other stores in a very short time frame. This saved our nonprofit group shipping cost and I am certain it was quite a challenge for her. The communication and professionalism as my emergency became her headache was outstanding! On a personal level, a few days ago I made an expensive purchase only to arrive home and see the same thing was being offered with a big discount online. Rather than make me return my purchase and reorder the item online, Kristi honored the discount and refunded the difference saving me both time and money. Plus, I didn't have to wait for the item to ship! I highly recommend this store for all your sporting good needs, whether for your team or for personal items. Went in to buy football cleats for my son. They were out of his size! We found one box with a shoe that was his size and another shoe 2 sizes smaller. How are you completely out of a shoe size? Especially for a football shoe with the season just starting???? I could go on about other experiences and the fact that they are overpriced, but this just about sums it up.
