I'm not sure why this location has such a low rating. I usually i'm not there to shop but to get what I need and leave and have never had an issue. I will say I highly recommend the guy who works on Mondays in the golf area, blanking on his name, and he's great. If he isn't there I'll wait until he is to get clubs regripped. read more

Awesome customer service today from your employee Keion! My son and I came to your store to pick up a bike that had been waiting on a part. We had not yet received a phone call and we were just checking the status on repairs. Without hesitation Keion offered to repair immediately. Within 5 minutes my son was riding his bike again. Sporting goods store and they don't even carry or have skateboards. I'm no skater either. Kid wanted one for his birthday. They got scooters and bikes, but not a single skateboard. They don't carry them. Disappointed. read more

This was at the frederick Dick's store in the Frederick Mall. I went to Dick's to shop for a couple of pairs of slip-on shoes. i was greeted quickly by a sales kid who brought my size shoe out to me, he then disappears. I went to look for him and he was with two other sales kids yapping away. I was patient and waited, they looked at me and just kept on talking. I left the shoes there and went to the mall. read more

After going through store with son, at checkout check reader didn't work/person didn't know how to use, therefore had to leave items... accepting checks should remain an option and there should be more than 2 registers in store where you can go to checkout... extremely poor service and will look elsewhere for items.... read more

This place is fine, but if you need any assistance at all you're bound to wait and wait and wait....does this little 'need assistance' button work? It lights up and says someone will be there soon, but eventually it shuts off. We had to press the button 4x today at the ammo counter. Waited 25 minutes and then someone showed up but wasn't able to help us. She said that someone would show up soon and then 10 minutes later, we got helped. 35 minutes for one thing. If I didn't need it, I would have left. I get that the store's management can't always guarantee they will have enough people to man the specialty counters but if that if the store's management team was any good, they would have AT LEAST put up a sign. The problem isn't the employees, here, the problem is top down. The store's management team is either incompetent, inexperienced or doesn't care. Hopefully Dicks corporate will catch on eventually. read more

I literally was in the store for less than five minutes. But that's how awesome of an experience it was. I was in a hurry, I needed one item, and the gentleman who assisted me knew exactly where it was. I found the one in my size I needed, walked over to the checkout, and breezed out the door. They even emailed my receipt to my address on file for my Dick's rewards card or whatever their program is called (sorry, I don't remember the minutia sometimes). Excellent customer service, wasn't pushy, was very friendly and knowledgeable, just an all around great and fast experience. Exactly what I look for when shopping! read more

What is going on at dick's. I shop here all the time and today my daughter had a return that was bought during taxfree weekend. The item was even exchange but it left 1.20 tax. Mgr marjaan told my daughter she had to pay the tax. I told her she shouldn't have to pay a dime. The lady told her no she have to pay it. My daughter called me back, I told her put me on speaker. I spoke with mgr mar and told her she was NOT paying tax. She shouldn't have to pay tax because your system cannot take the tax off. The store needs to eat the tax. Well mgr mar says there is nothing she can do yelling on the phone. Then a real mgr comes over to help marj and its done one to three. ‍ Before she left the store, the dam mgr mar threw her items in the bag and had a nasty attitude. Really really mar!! I agree with the lack of customer service here. The employees are not trained to be very customer friendly. I've experienced on multiple occasions employees that have no idea what they are selling. Nobody in the shoe department was eager to help or knowledgeable in answering the questions I had. On another occasion, the cashier was texting while in the process of the transaction. While this store has a good selection of items, it's definitely not as much as the RIO location nor is it as easy to find help with you need it. read more

The 2-star average rating is not a surprise if you've ever been here and needed customer service. We've been here multiple times and have had poor customer service on multiple occasions - the staff is either great or horrible. We've had bad experiences at both the gun/ammo and bike counters. The service at the ammo counter was rude and at the last minute we decided not to spend any money at the store. The bike shop experience was pretty absurd as well. They said they'd get a bike expert to help us, but nobody ever showed up. We waited so long for service that one of the men stocking the shelves even tried paging staff to come help us, but even he got no response. When somebody finally showed up, they told us the bike expert wasn't in that day! After some discussion, we asked that they build 2 of the bikes in the back room so we could check them out a couple days later. He even said they'd make sure to hold it on the floor for us. I had a feeling it wasn't going to happen, considering the experience so far. Turns out I was right - we had to call them since they didn't call us. So, 2 days later, we called and they said the bike we wanted was sold. We were unhappy to say the least and after some discussion, they agreed to find one in the area to send to the Frederick location. (Side note: if you order a bike online, it has to be shipped to your house and you have to bring it in for the staff to put together. Not exactly convenient so we wanted to have a bike that was already in the store). The last manager we talked to fixed the situation by bringing in the bike we wanted from another location and giving a discount. He was very personal and knowledgeable about bikes. (HIs name was 3 letters but I can't remember it). If I could, I'd ask to work with him every time we went to that store and needed customer service. Basically he and the guy who tried to page staff for us are the reasons for the 2 stars instead of 1. read more

Surprised of the poor reviews. I had many great experiences here but one time I went here to get a new pair of shoes and there was a new person working in the shoe department so I wanted a pair of shoes I want but I couldn't find a pair in my size. So he went and found no shoes. So I asked again and this time he went and never came back. Then the manager came and asked how I was doing and I said my complaint. The manager found the shoes I wanted in my size. Because of the bad experience, the manager paid for my shoes and I didn't have to pay anything for them. That is what a manager should do and this is Dick's Sporting Goods is one of this most helpful stores I have ever been in. Great job for the excellent service! read more

Horrible experience in this Dicks. Went in today to help my niece buy her first rifle and dealt a sales rep that judged her the day before in thinking she was going to do something illegal with it. I came in to reaffirm that I told my niece to buy this .22 rifle and that I was responsible in training her on the proper use of the gun. This rep still would not let my niece use her second amendment right to own a starter rifle because she felt that my niece 'was not ready' and 'felt my niece was going to give the gun to another person in which is illegal'. My niece and myself were judged as untrustworthy of a starter .22 rifle. This is her second amendment right! Will never shop here again! read more

I honestly don't know why I bother coming here for anything sporting related. The clothes are overpriced, can get the same stuff for less on Amazon. The worst part, they never, ever have a proper stock of sneakers. Forget about half sizes. I went because I had a coupon for $20 off of $100 and I was actually going to spend around $200 for two sets of sneakers. They had absolutely nothing in terms of my size. Who doesn't stock 12's or 12 1/2's? At the end of the day, I spent my $200 in another sneaker store in the mall instead of Dicks. I should have learned my lesson when I found all of my sons little league gear for less than half of what I spent at Dicks. read more

This is just a terrible place to shop. They are always lacking supplies, even before the pandemic was happening. My dad and I visit the golf section very often and today their was nobody that was "qualified" on duty to help us. This store location is pathetic and they need to step it up. Personally at this point, the old sports authority is better than this. I'm came here excited to get an item, but because of their laziness in both staff and owners, I'm leaving here an disappointed customer. They need to get better. read more

My son and I went to get our clubs fitted. Got there and was ushered into a very nice indoor range. They took there time watching my swing and used strike tape to see where I was striking the plate on the bottom of the club. Bud came in and watched me swing 4 different irons and my driver. Then took his time watching my son swing. End result we were told I could adjust your clubs 1 or 2 degrees but it is not going to improve your game, then proceeded to give us his expert advice on our setup at no charge!!!! I cannot remember the other gentleman's name but the are true professionals and honest, refreshing these days. The golf center is top notch and applying their advice my game has improved. The selection is ok. But the prices are really high. To many items fail to have a price label and you have to run around to find a employee to ask for the price. Then when you do find a good price it rings up higher on the shelf. The under armour products are similar to those found at the UA outlet but the outlet is 20% cheaper. Its worth the 20 min drive to save 20% + 6% sales tax = 26% total savings on clother/shoes. The selection of sports equipment is not that great. I can go to play it again sports three blocks down and get new/used stuff for better prices. You walk in and they push $200 plastic coolers. Wow. Plastic boxes 8 times higher than a igloo or ozark trail. read more

Poor organization, poor layout, poor staffing/unknowledgeable about products and stock. Apparently, reason websites have "check in store availability" is just to make the website look good. I was also informed by staff that when an item says "in stock" or "out of stock" it's actually running weeks behind, and they may already be out of stock, or restocked the item that says "out of stock." I find this very unprofessional and outdated. I hate going to the store. The only reason I even go to the store, is if free online shipping is not available. I went this evening for a face mask their website claimed to have plenty of stock for this item. Not only did they not have it in stock, or know where it would be if it were in stock, they stated they hadn't even seen that item in over a month. That is unacceptable. Came back for running shoes and my experience was no better. Almost every pair of women's running shoes were out of stock in the popular sizes (+/- size 8). Asked an employee who looked on the computer and said they were all out, maybe try another location. I did one better and went to dicks online, found the same pair I asked about in my size AND $20 less AND free shipping and returns. read more

Had horrible experience there recently! Over priced, and when checking out, cashier actually charged us DOUBLE! And, when we asked to cancel the order, we were told they were in process of the sale and couldnt, insisting that they HAD TO CHARGE (Overcharge) our credit card, then reimburse us!
