Writing an updated review since they recently renovated and revamped the entire store. I LOVE the remodel! Everything just makes sense. Sections of the site are clearly marked, it's easy to find what you need and everything is in stock that you could possibly need, and the dressing rooms are centralized in one spot (with seating beside it!) so you don't have to randomly look for dressing rooms throughout the store and then find a salesperson to unlock it. Regular prices but there's often a 20% off coupon if your kid plays sports somewhere. Overall great experience. We drive further to come to this store as opposed to going to the one closer to us. The only con is that if you're short it might be hard for you to reach things on the top row. Oftentimes I needed to ask my husband to get an item from the top section and these were things like kids shorts, a water bottle, and kids socks. All that to say, go shopping with someone taller than you or bring a packable stool because there's a lot that's unreachable for short people. But overall a great experience! read more

This store is located off of Barrett Parkway off of hwy 75. First this store is massive. I mean two story massive. It's also connected to the Field and Stream and I was told there are only 16 stores in the country like this so I feel all special now.... I came in today with my friend and her daughter. Earl is the absolute most incredible employee that there ever was! So my sister recently purchased a kayak from Dick's and absolutely loves it. We went on the water a few times and it prompted me to want one too. I had forgotten, but she kept telling me to look for Earl to help out. Sadly Earl was not there when I went in, but the gentleman was helpful in that he let us know that the kayak I was looking at for a lower price was not very good, as many had returned it recently, and said it was worth for us to go to the higher priced one (and said he didn't make commission), but he wasn't able to really help bring down kayaks physically and it was kind of hard for me to do so myself. But I appreciated that he let me know, as I had read reviews online about that kayak in particular that had said the same thing, and I would have been mad if I had purchased it and realized after I got on the water that I hated it. Since I don't live close to this location that would have been a pain in the butt to return, and I appreciate the honesty. Anyway, I went back again because my brother wanted to get one too after my sister and I did, so I went to pick his out via facetime as he had to work and couldn't go. Although they are all the same kayak that we purchased, they all have unique colorings that are slightly different. While most people would think you are psychotic to want to bring out a bunch of kayaks to choose a slight variation of color, when I went Earl was there this last time, and he was so helpful in bringing down a handful of the kayaks so that I could look at them and FaceTime my brother to choose which one he wants. He understood that the slight variations were important to us. Then after all his help doing that, we realized that my brother had already paid online and they had already chosen my boat for curbside. We then went and looked at that boat and he let me inspect that one too before choosing the final one. Also, they didn't have the paddles in our size in store, so he let me know about the ones online and a local store that carried them as well. How honest! After I left, I was just so grateful in how absolutely helpful he was. He was kind, accommodating and shared some of the best customer service I had received from any retail store in years! When I got home my sister asked me if Earl helped me when I told her the story of this helpful man who didn't think I was nuts for looking at them all so closely, and she goes- that's Earl! That's the guy I kept telling you about! She told me she had the same experience with him, but that Earl was even MORE helpful to her in choosing her kayak! What a guy! Anyway, the service was just so good, I wanted to make sure to publicly thank him and my great service there. This location is a big store with large selection! Layout is well organized and items were easy to find.

It's been about maybe a week or two since I've been to Dick's Sporting Goods. And unfortunately I lost my receipt and don't know which one I was at. However I cannot get this man's name out of my head because he helped us so much and made our experience amazing!!! The employee named Earl helped me and my Significant other with kayaks. We had no clue how to kayak nor have we ever been. Earl described each kayak to us in detail told us the best places to go and even how to do it. Not to mention he was supposed to leave at 5:00 PM and stayed almost an entire hour over, possibly more,just to help us (ON MEMORIAL DAY). And he didn't even stop at just helping us choose which one to get he also helped us carry them to the truck and helped at checkout. His customer service and personality is out of this world. We just want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts because this would've never happen without your expertise and amazing help overall!!! Hopefully we'll see you on the water soon and can thank you even more!!!! I don't do a lot of sports-related stuff, but if I ever did, I would go to Dick's to get my gear. This place is seriously overflowing with stuff. Two stories of everything from hunting to camping to basketball to jogging, men's and women's clothing, on and on and on. It's almost so big that it takes forever to find what you want, especially if you're like me and always dodge the salespeople who want to help direct you (and there are lots of them here). The prices are a little higher than I'd expect (even the stuff on clearance seemed high) but they have everything you need all right in one place, so if money's not too much of an object, you can knock it out at once. I've never been to other locations of Dick's but this one is absolutely overflowing. And being located right in the heart of Kennesaw on probably the busiest piece of commercial property around, you're going to be stuck in traffic if you come out, no matter what time of day. read more

I drove 36 miles from the other side of town after checking online as well as calling the store to insure the item I wanted to purchase was in stock. After making several laps and not finding the item I went to the store's website on my phone to make sure it was in stock. I then began my long search for a store employee for help. Unfortunately I found Nolan near the front door chatting to another employee. I showed him the item on my phone explaining that his website says it is in stock. He explains that they probably don't have the item because on of the employees probably inventoried the wrong item. According to Nolan it happens all the time. He then just stood there, hands in pockets. I asked if anyone was going to look or should I just go on with my day. He implied the latter would be the best choice because he was not leaving the front door! I figured he could at least radio someone or at the very least feign some sort of interest in a legitimate customer issue. I also figured Nolan would like to use the information to correct the inventory that customers can see online so the next customer does not have the same issue, but I realized I was giving him way too much credit. If you want to have some fun, call this store and ask them if they have Lumber Jack 100% Cherry wood pellets. Of course they will say that they are in stock because they are using the same info you are. Then tell them that they were not in stock when you were last at the store and Nolan told you their inventory is wrong all the time. Then ask them if they can find them in the store. This should waste about five minutes of time for the employees, and the store is empty so they'll appreciate the work! read more

This location is very large and full of equipment for almost every sport. Went to get some softball gear for the upcoming season. Although there were plenty of employees nobody said hi or asked if I needed any help. The sales/ clearance rack don't actually seem that great of a deal. HUGE selection of Adidas product which I love. I was able to get fair enough prices on my gloves , socks, and bat bag. They have a rewards program which pays off if you go there enough. Overall nothing that blew my mind but not terrible either. read more

While normal sporting goods stores cater to men, I was impressed half the store was designated for everything from yoga, to weight lifting, jackets, socks and shoes. I got in to a fun back and forth banter with a guy selling shoes. "Why don't you join the Peachtree running club?" He said. "Because I have nice boobs I paid a lot for." End of conversation. While I wandered through the racks, the climbing rock wall caught my attention. I know what you're thinking, you obviously recognize me. Yes, I was the loud girl that got half way up the rock wall and screamed until someone came to rescue me. And yes, shamefully, I was the girl that threw up on her way down. I have to admit that I have resisted the urge to make Dick's my goto sports shop because when I moved to Atlanta I was a big fan of Galyans and after the takeover the stores just didn't seem to be as good. I coming around however and I have to give props where props are due. Most of my purchases are in the soccer and fishing departments (theres a combo you don't hear too often) and they always seem to have what I'm looking for. In fact the soccer cleat selection is starting to rival that of the small specialty shops. Don't forget to check the paper or online for coupons before you go. Came in as a last resort in trying to find a nice running shoe. I am not a fan of having to flag down an associate, show them the shoe you want, have them scan it only to tell you that your size is out of stock. I tried 6 different shoes all out of stock. They also did not have a great selection of women's running shoes for the brands they do carry. They didn't have any Mizuno brand but a whole wall of Nike. I ended up with a nice pair of Brooks so I'm ok happy. read more

I will first admit that I have not always been a fan of Dick's Sporting Goods. I'm a frugal shopper and hunt bargains. The customer service at the Dick's location on Barrett Pkwy is stellar. (Chick-fil-A employees could train here!) I haven't had any issues, just doing the typical --k ids needs athletic shoes, baseballs, and most recently a pair of indoor soccer shoes for myself. After two indoor soccer events with these shoes they haven't felt right for my foot and I don't really have the ball control I want while wearing them. I called Dick's and the first person to answer the phone says she can help me. In less than 30 seconds I'm off the phone having been told to bring the shoes back for a refund. Wow! I mean what!!? That's incredible. I won't be refunding the shoes. Instead I'll be upgrading to a nicer pair. Thank you, Dick's customer service team. Also, I failed to mention that on echo visit the staff has been extra helpful as I shopped. Not just bugging me, but actually going above and beyond to help me find what I'm looking for in my price range. read more

When making my purchases tonight, I spoke with the store manager about the dust falling from the ceiling in the changing rooms every time the blower came on. He immediately apologized, as he was unaware of this situation and graciously gave me a discount for the inconvenience. Totally unexpected and much appreciated! THIS is true customer service! It would be nice though if they did not keep the doors on the dressing rooms locked all the time, as you have to find a sales associate to unlock them to get in. I used to live extremely close to this dicks so I used to stop here when I needed a new pair of training shoes or football cleats, football gloves, many different items. I have purchased one item in the past 2 years. I was here 2 days ago and I stood around looking for an associate for 20 minutes and many workers who I had to stop for help were positive they had none of the items I needed. They carry the items of a run down outlet mall in a rural area with the workers of high school students at a car wash. Complete unsatisfactory. I fully recommend the outlet mall in Woodstock. I have been to this location twice and both were horrible. This is the closest big box outdoors store around us so I went looking for handguns and shotguns. The first time I went I was not greeted at all. I went upstairs to the hunting department and no one was there. I spent around 20 minutes looking through expecting someone to walk by. No one came. I went to three other departments and found one employee who ignored me. So I left. The second time I went with my wife trying to give them a second chance. She went to a different part of the store while I went to the hunting department. This time a younger looking employee was there and asked if I needed help. I said I needed a few minutes but I was interested in a handgun and a shotgun. He said alright and left me be. I looked and waited 15 minutes for him to come back. He didn't. My wife came to find me and asked if I decided what to buy. I told her that the salesman hadn't come back. We waited another 5 or so minutes then went looking for him. We couldn't find him or anyone else. We both got angry and proceeded to leave. No one said goodbye to us as we left. I cannot wait for the Academy Sports to open down the street from you guys and put you out of business. In the meantime take the extra time to drive to either Georgia Firing Line for guns or to Academy Sports in Hiram for anything else. read more

Dick's refused to warranty a pair of Adidas blade shoes that broke in half after less than 5 months. This was a defect of the shoes. If you are looking for a sporting goods store that will actually stand behind the products they sell then do NOT waste your time and money at Dick's, go to REI. I placed on order weeks ago from Dick's online order number above and paid by paypal. I was sent an email the next day that said the order had been canceled. I placed another order for the same items and paid with credit card. The new order showed up 3 days later. 2 weeks go by and I get an email confirmation that says your order is being processed. I call customer service and they tell me that the order will not ship and I will not be charged. The next day the order shows up at my door. I call customer service and they tell me to return the order to the local store. The next day I go to Dick's on Barrett Pkwy at Kennesaw, GA and talk with the store manager Lavarde. He was extremely rude and told me that Dick's online has nothing to do with the store. They can not take a return for paypal and I needed to call customer service. I have never been more outraged by a store manager in my life. He acted as if i was an idiot implying that they would except a return as I was directed by customer service. Since I had no option I called customer service from the parking lot and they told me that because of paypal I needed to request UPS labels sent to me for a return. I asked how long that would take and they told me 1-2 hours. 2 hours later I called back to find out why I hadn't received the labels. The new guy told me that the information was incorrect and it could be 1-2 days for a RA# to be issued. It's been 2 days and no labels. I just got a new email that says they shipped the order again. This is just getting criminal how bad the customer service has been on one online order and return. I don't know why the first order was canceled because I always have $1K in paypal. I don't know why you would take a payment you can't refund at a store. I don't think legally you can just keep shipping under a single paypal authorization. The breakdown on customer service is huge. I would fire all of them. The online system shouldn't have changed the order to canceled. The online system shouldn't have reprocessed the order if customer was notified of cancellation. The first guy didn't stop the order from shipping. The second guy shouldn't have sent me to the store for refund. The store manager shouldn't have told me "no refund for paypal transactions call customer service not our problem". The customer service on the phone should not have said 1-2 hours because that was not correct. The next customer service rep. should not have said 2 days because I still do not have them. The final thing is how has the order now shipped again ??????? I would call customer service but getting no where there.... I would have to say Dell sending me to India was better read more

Yes, it's a chain but they really do have everything one could ever want. Their prices are a little on the high side, but they have all good, high quality brands and their deals are pretty darn good. I was able to get a softball bat, on clearance for $20 - it was regularly priced at like $80-100. In Atlanta, there isn't a large number of independent or smaller scale sporting goods stores, but I'm a fan of this place for sure. read more

The clearance section/racks here rivals the prices of Kohls... Impressive. I like the layout of the store and the staff is friendly. If your just looking for something simple that you can't find at target or Kmart revolving around sports this is the place to go. Beyond that, I recommend a specialty store. We were on the search for a new treadmill, starting off with Consumer Report ratings and working my way into various web sites to get specific model ratings. I then starting off at Amazon to get total prices (taxes, shipping, etc.), then using Google to search the NW ATL 'burbs. We wanted a treadmill we could pick-up locally if at all possible, that had a 4 out of 5 star rating and for under $1000; only reaching for the stars, right? After multiple store stops, even including Costco, we noticed Dick's around the corner. We had never shopped at Dick's and thought, why not check it out. If you've never been into one of their stores, you're in for a treat. We were blown away by their store. Of course they had 6 or 7 treadmills lined up, a brand called SOLE but the question at hand was, "what was it going to cost us?" This is a nice store and it's not nice because they discount everything. Anyway... We went right into on-line reviews, found the right treadmill for our needs (walking vice running), and priced them out. We were interested in the SOLE F60. The exact model unit on the floor was $200 over what we should really pay. We found an employee, a very cordial young man who was happy to be there. He explained they have a few discounts we could take advantage of, plus being a military member, he would stack the discounts. We ended up paying $160 less than the best Amazon price we could find and we could take it with us, nice (of course, we could have opted to have it delivered and set-up too for a fee). If we opted for their credit card, we would have saved another $70 but we don't need more plastic. The young man and one of his associates loaded the treadmill into our old faithful minivan, and we are now the proud owners of that new, discounted treadmill. In closing, don't allow the mega-stores to stop you from going in. With research on demand with smartphones, we were pleasantly surprised how much we saved by taking that 1st step (through their doors). read more

Worst customer experience ever!!! I understand you had a glitch and the tent was listed cheaper than you intended..... but when I call to inquire and you tell me I am a liar and that it is no longer on the page when I have refreshed it 20 times to make sure it hadn't been removed is unacceptable. I asked for a manager and spent 20 minutes arguing why as a customer I should be able to speak with a manager when requested. The manager finally comes on the line and immediately goes into a rant about how it's a glitch and is no longer listed, ummm I just refreshed and researched the item and there it is so NO! you have not removed the item it is still listed for sale at 19.98. So now I will take my business elsewhere, we are purchasing EVERYTHING needed for a camping trip to the lake: tent, canopy, cooking equipment, kayak, paddles, life vest, etc.... nope no interest in even helping me find another item similar to what I wanted! read more
