Do not buy a bike at Dick's. They have a 24-hour return policy. They are not open 24 hours. They were closed during Covid-19. I bought the bike in April, was not able to ride the bike until the end of May due to inclement weather. On my fourth ride of the season, the gear started slipping and making loud clicking noises. I took the bike back today only to be informed that I cannot return a brand new bike unless it is with the 24-hour window frame. Management is not good at this store. Steve, the young man who repaired my bike, is an excellent employee, I hope they don't lose him. Customer service is almost non-existent at this location, both in picking up the item and trying to return it. This bike has a defect. My wife was there when she went to her car with a bike. It would not fit all the way. That of course is no fault of Dicks. When she went in and asked to borrow a tool so she could tie it down they said no. She offered 20 dollars to buy what she needed to do so still they were rude and would not help. Everytime I come to this store, I have the worst experience. There's never anyone around to help you and when I do find someone, they just tell me "it's over there" and walk away. Very disappointed. Cold and unfriendly attitude of staff working on floor. My son high school senior was looking at jackets on second floor, I was tired and not feeling well. I couldn't find a seating place close by, so I managed to sit down briefly on a 'sturdy ' display rack of men's shirts without actually disturbing the array of neatly folded shirts. A young lady, Jennifer walks up to me and says 'I need to reach the shirts'. I, at once stood up to stand by the side. Jennifer, unfolds a neatly folded shirt and then folds it again and put it to cover the spot where I managed to sit earlier . She then walks away when I walked up to her that told her if she needed me to not use the rack for sitting she should have voiced it directly as opposed to indirectly insulting my intelligence. And considering every customer is a valued guest she should have rather suggested an alternative for sitting . Instead she was rude even more. For the readers and Dick's management's information, I have spent over 2000 dollars in past 2 weeks at this location. This is not happening again, I will take my business to REI instead who's customer service is outstanding. read more

Return policy is awful! I had ordered an online pair of crocs that were too small and needed a larger size. I didn't have receipt but tags were still on them. The cashier took my credit card I had used and scanned the tag to credit my credit card and wasn't successful. Manager came over attempted same process and was not successful. I was told they would refund me $3.45 return value???? Or exchange for bigger size which they apparently didn't have color I wanted. I took shoes and left frustrated after being in long line after walking around store to see if they had shoes at the store. Not many people there to help. Entire time in store 40 mins and nothing accomplished. I did an online chat with customer service and asked them to email me my receipt which they did within 5 minutes drove to Orland location and they refunded the amount to my credit card which took 5 minutes. Not sure why the store couldn't have done that at their location. Employees need to be trained better as to how to deal with this type of situation if I had known I would of done it from home. For being such a big store, there's not much selection on wrestling gear, they only had one pair of wrestling shoes and they only keep them in the back ... They have a ton of selection for golf... This is the very first time that I have ever written a negative review but I have to say that the customer service at the gun counter at Dick's is absolutely AWFUL, There is a guy named Vince who has the worst attitude and customer service that I have ever experienced. True story: a few months ago when the Cubs won the World Series (**GASPS**), I did a late night run to grab some World Series gear like a fairweather fan. As I browsed through th plethora of t shirts and other apparel, I bumped into Stan Bowman (Blackhawks GM). Now like the idiot that I am, I just stared at him in awe...greatness was standing in front of me!! A few people acknowledged him; one guy straight up went up to him and said, "Hey, aren't you the Blackhawks guy?" He found it amusing and confirmed it. It was one of the best memories of 2016. Anyway, this store is pricey. But it has practically your essentials when it comes to sports apparel and sports equipment. I love the Under Armour selection and the Nike selection as well. I'm a sucker for Nike yoga pants. Keep buying their merchandise, and if you have their membership or loyalty card, you can earn enough points towards a $10 dollar off your next purchase. But that's a lot of spending. I suppose there's no other place to compare this to since their other competitor went bankrupt. Not a bad place if you need something basic. read more

I was in the golf department on Black Friday looking to purchase a new driver. Spoke with Bob there who was courteous and quite knowledgeable in the particular item I was purchasing, and other golf equipment. After a computer glitch due to probably the volume of people there, I had to return to the store later and Bob apologized and I was able to complete my purchase. While the store itself provides variety and is clean, the customer service is BEYOND horrible even from the person who may have been the manager. I was in the store for at least 30 minutes and did not see 1 employee helping another customer. I am not one for constant attention nor do I like it when sales people follow you around, but they were talking to each other or at the registers. Ummm...if you don't assist the people, they may not buy something. So after walking around with a few items in my hands, I found a group of them and asked for assistance. They instructed me to put the item I was looking for back on the display and someone would be with me. 10 minutes later, no one. As I was walking out, one of the employees was outside and said, " oh, didn't anyone help you?" Obviously not, maybe she should have helped me instead of going outside!!!! Every time there is an issue with the kids selling shoes in that department. First off, we are standing there and looking around for someone to help us. There's a kid no more than 20ft away from us. He's standing there, looks at us and looks away. Does not approach us or ask us if we need help. As if we are visiting the shoe department for summer vacation. My husband approaches him. He comes over and seems to know nothing about Brooks. We tell him the size, twice, since he forgot in a matter of 2 seconds. Nicely comes out and tells us they don't have the size. Okay no problem. Can we order in the store? Yes. We have cash. Uhhhhh, I don't know how to do that. We go up front and ask a young lady who just got done helping a family order shoes. She pulls up the shoe and it shows the color and size we want is not available. But on my phone it's available. Hmmmmm, let me ask a manager. Manager comes over. Nope can't order it. But it's on my phone I say, well you got the last one, order it he says. But I don't want to order it because i have cash!!!!! The young lady is standing there looking at the manager, the manager is turned away helping someone else. I said, thanks anyway well skip the coupons we had and points and go to NEW BALANCE! Dicks is bullshit. They put all the other good sporting goods stores out of business and I go in the for 3 things. Exchange a hoodie for a larger size, cleats, and bat. And I come out with nothing. They don't carry 2XL hoodies, the cheapest cleats I could find in my size are $120, and they don't carry end weighted softball bats. It's so frustrating. I mean I'm not a big guy 6'/225lbs. Need a 2XL hoodie so it's nice and comfortable and wear size 13 cleats for a men's softball league. I shouldn't have to spend more than $50 for the 14 games I play a year. Good thing amazon carries 2 of the 3 things I was looking for. Will not be returning to this franchise. read more

I have no beef with this location. This place is HUGE-if you're looking for something specific, chances are you will find it here. I was in the market for a weightlifting belt and a knee brace. One of the employees, Arthur, took the time to find the right knee brace for me. And get this-it wasn't the most expensive one! He let me try on a variety of braces and told me which ones are best for which knee ailments. You can definitely get a lot of these items cheaper on the internet, but I figure the premium is worth it when it comes with this type of service. Started off by purchasing a firearm from them which has pretty much a limited selection. The only reason I came was for a inexpensive buy. Background check went through. A member of their staff called me the next day prior and said the 24 hour period has begun and I waited till the next business day. And now they won't release the firearm to me. Just because they forgot to enter simple info into there computer and paperwork. In my last 2 days at the Store they have had to rest their system multiple times. Visited Dick's on christmas eve for some last minute shopping. The customer service was great - two different associates asked if I needed help finding anything and I was able to find the items I was looking for and make it quickly to the checkout. Although the store was packed and there was a long line, the line for registers was well organized and moved quickly along. My favorite place!! Alas !! Poor service. Went to get a swimming goggle for my daughter and Picked up a t shirt for her too. After 10mins wait was only one counter open ( understandable as a slow day) another lady came and opened the counter and I got my chance to pay but when she told me the total I was kinda confused . I asked the price of the goggles . She gave me a price almost $9 higher. I said u have another price displayed . The reply was "the may have displayed a wrong price" . So, is she working for a different entity ? Of course no apologies . I didn't say nothing but lemme go get another one . I went back with my daughter and my 2 year old again upstairs and took a pic of the display as they had more in that hook with the lower price came back with another goggle waited for the same associate to rang me and once my turn came in I showed her the pic . The reply was " oh, I will tell them to change . No apologies again and I paid for it . Before she handed over me the bag she had to leave the counter to attend another customer waiting on the far side without even wishing me a thank you at-least. Unfortunately, there is no option I am aware of to post a review of Dick's Sporting Goods' website, so I have to detail my experience on the page of the store closest to my location. I recently ordered several items from Dick's during a 50% off sale. All but one of the items shipped. The final item was cancelled by Dick's, although I received no notification nor reasoning as to why the item was cancelled. But, I figured it was no big deal, they probably just ran out of stock, right? Well, I checked the website, and it was still in stock (and still is as of this writing.) I e-mailed their customer service and asked if they could simply honor the price at which I bough it, since I ordered it on 3/2 and it was clearly still in stock as of 3/7. Instead, I was offered a perfunctory 20% off coupon. After 3 more messages, I was assured that if I wanted the item, I would have to order it again at full price. Although I assume I could use my 20% off coupon, which would essentially be rendered moot once shipping is included because this new order, unlike my first order, would not meet the $99 threshold required for free shipping. I personally feel that this is an example of fairly dishonest business practice and will not be returning to the website, nor their brick-and-mortar counterpart. read more

It's a nice clean store. A good overall selection of merchandise. I've had issues calling on the phone, sometimes where I'll be on hold for a while getting transferred back and forth, but in store the service has been decent. I know it's tough for stores to stock everything all year round, but you can certainly tell when it's baseball season because everything in store seems to be baseball and everything else gets put in back, etc. Out of season, some things can be harder to find, but it's really like that everywhere. Anyways, I found some hiking shoes I liked on sale. I bought them and I'll be back for more when I need some other stuff. read more

I had a very bad experience with the cycling department here. I purchased a bike on their website which was then delivered and set up in the store. Whoever put my bike together here should NOT be working in that department. I took my bike for one ride and throughout the ride the bike was making a strange noise near the chains, the handlebar felt unsteady and after 20 miles THE HANDLEBAR CAME OFF. The bike slowly fell apart on my walk home. They gave me a bike that was incredibly dangerous to ride and I was lucky to have been on a side street rather than a busy intersection. I took the bike in to Dick's in Schaumburg and told them what happened. The guys there said never to return to the Dick's in Lombard because the bike department there is the worst in the area. I don't understand how they let these bikes leave the store knowing that the staff is incapable of setting them up. The gentlemen at the Schaumburg location were very helpful and I would recommend going there. I would have given this place one star but I cannot fairly rate the other departments without having shopped around. read more
