This review is about the online ordering/customization shop. We ordered golf balls with writing on them and received someone else's order with our packing slip. We called in because giving a custom gift with the wrong text on it would just be wrong; 1. Someone else is missing their package, 2. Giving a custom gift to someone with three letters that mean nothing doesn't make for a good gift. When we called, we were asked to re-order our custom package and mail the other one back. That means, we repay for shipping for their mistake and they are not planning on rushing the replacements:( They did say that when they received them back they would refund us. Any customer service oriented company would rush a new order out to both customers and call the other customer before they had to call too. Either way they either eat the cost of both sets and toss them or they could send UPS labels to both clients to return and send the extra sets back since they cant sell balls with peoples names on them.... They also couldn't transfer me to a supervisor, they were all busy....I was told I would get a call back. Nothing so far. Just Boo. Sad that custom ordering that took a set of 20$ balls to 50$ + with shipping is not fixable without reordering. read more

In the past, I've avoided going to this store. It used to be that IF you could locate a single employee, chances were they had an attitude or no idea how to really help. But here it is, summer, and I need a competitive swim suit. After looking at every other store possible, Dick's is my final hope. And they had exactly what I needed at a reasonable price. The thing that stood out most was the fact that the moment I walked in, I saw multiple employees - at the checkout counter, walking around, helping customers. And the first person I spoke to told me there were two locations for swimsuits in the store. He took the time (and he was busy locating shoes for another customer), to help me figure out where I needed to look. I've been avoiding this store, but I had a pleasant experience this time around and will be returning in the future. Whatever has changed in the last year, keep it up. My experience was different than most Yelpers here. Store has a great layout, and probably the widest selection on tennis shoes in the Valley. Pretty much self-serve, staff busy running around from customer to customer, yet they were nice and helpful. Spent a bit more than I wanted to but got a great buy and a nice pair of sneakers. I began shopping at Dicks Sporting Goods last Christmas. I found myself extremely satisfied with Dicks and purchased numerous items and recommended this store to my friends & family. Sadly, this Christmas season could not have been more different. Christmas Eve (2015) I was at the Westfield Mall (Palm Desert, CA) finishing my last minute shopping, I knew my journey had to begin at Dicks! I came across a sport tank top that was absolutely perfect for my father, as he is always challenging to buy for. This tank unfortunately had a very large "dirt mark" ( I'm guessing ) across the front, measuring to be 5" long. This was a unique UnderArmor tank and I knew I had to get it for him. However, it was the last one hanging on the shelf. I took the tank to the register where I presented it to Patrice. I explained that there was a large mark on the shirt. I asked her if there were any others in stock. She responded shortly with "Nope, everything we have will be there". She expressed no interest in assisting me with finding a clean tank, or maybe one in a similar style. I then proceeded to ask her if there was any discount I could receive for the dirty tank. I was told %10. I told her I would appreciate the discount, and that I also needed a gift receipt for the item. Patrice explained that I could not receive a gift receipt if I was granted a discount. This is a concept I did not understand. I asked her why I would have to pay full retail price ($29.99) for a dirty shirt. I then requested a manger to further address this issue. Patrice promptly responded with "I am actually the supervisor for this area". I was blown away by the amount of attitude I received through her short words. I told her that I would go ahead and purchase the tank at full retail price($29.99) in exchange for the gift receipt. (Not something I was happy about, however I wanted to be sure the tank would fit ). She proceeded with the transaction. After making my payment I still was not granted the gift receipt. While I was requesting this long sought after receipt Patrice cut me off mid sentence by stating "I just explained this to you, you can't get a gift receipt on a discounted item". At this point I was completely mind boggled and almost in shock. I explained yet again, that I would purchase the tank at full retail price in exchange for the gift receipt. The transaction had to be voided. Finally, the correct transaction was made and I had both the dirty tank at ($29.99) and the gift receipt. Upon my departure from the register I asked for Patrice's name, which in no surprise she shot at me with an attitude. I was not even offered a bag for my purchase, very sad. As I was leaving Dicks with my purchase in hand I noted Patrice snickering to her coworker and staring. This made me totally uncomfortable, and I scurried out the door. I understand that Patrice probably had no control over the discount/gift receipt protocol, however if she had displayed just an ounce of concern for my dissatisfaction my experience would have been a different one. I am left with a bitter taste, and now associate this dreadful experience with Dicks Sporting Goods. Bummer.. read more

I only shop here (never Big 5) due to the fact that Dick's has taken a stand to not sell assault weapons - bravo! Suggestion to have more outdoor wear and gear including hiking stuff for women. Crappy customer service. I went to look at some golf clubs and the employee in the department didn't say a damn word to me. Ended up returning the clubs and was accused of hitting them when in reality that was the condition I purchased them in. Have spent hundreds, if not thousands, here. Have 3 young boys who all play Friday Night Lights...footballs, running shoes, cleats, chairs, clothes. ...you name it. Trying to get to football practice we asked to use the restroom that we'd used every other time...and we're told to go to the food court as we weren't customers and there was recent vandalism. A 41 year old mother in her work out clothes with 3 boys under the age of 7 didn't really fit the image of going to vandalize the restroom. We ARE customers, Dicks sponsors FNL and the cashiers should make a better effort to know the circumstance and be helpful. I am very surprised that it's just a no policy. read more

An entire shelf of tackle boxes with mismarked sale prices. Management was called to the department. From the off set, his attitude was poor. He made no attempt to converse and was silent until I questioned the error. All he did was move the shelf pricing to another product and turned around an departed. Such indifference. The staff is very adept at talking on their earbuds and mics to one another and leave you hanging. I will not return. read more

I stopped at Dicks in Palm Desert looking for a specific item. This is a clean and well stocked store-thus the two stars-but after a full 50min of scouring the store for either the item or a clerk to help me, I left empty handed. Other than the checkouts who were busy checking people out, I could find absolutely no one on the floor for assistance. This should have been a 5-10 min. stop. I prefer purchasing at brick and mortar stores but ended up ordering my item on-line from another retailer. read more

If I could give this place a negative star review I would. Where do I even start. This place has awful customer service. The manager won't even come to the front to help you do a return everything is through the microphone headset. They refused to do a return even through they were able to look up the purchase on my rewards plan. Not until after we were walking up did the manager come up. Sorry can't give her name because she wasn't wearing a name tag. Only identifier is She's has a new tattoo that's red on her left arm. Hopefully the Corp levels speak to her about her customer service and professionalism. Don't hid behind the mic when your employees are calling you. When she finally cane up she acted like it wasn't her it's the general managers policy. I doubt a general manager is the one writing policy way to through them under the bus. The store was a mess clothes were all over the ground and the door was super long with only two cashiers. Interesting enough I went to another Dicks and they did the return with no problem. My son and I went to the Palm Desert Dick's to buy a couple of bikes (GT Men's, around $800 each), and we waited 30 minutes STANDING UNDER THEM while repeated pages failed to get anyone to help us. They have a fairly good selection of most sporting goods, but when it comes to backpacking (also no customer service), they absolutely suck. And most of their employees have no idea what you're talking about. Come on... you've NEVER HEARD of Big Agnes or Osprey? Granted, I didn't expect them to be either TRI-A-BIKE or REI, but they weren't even as knowledgeable as Walmart. Sales people don't have to know everything, and telling me you don't know something (but you'll find out) doesn't bother me. But I HATE being ignored by a company that want's my money! read more

Purchased a pair of "Chaco" sandals while traveling through Palm Dessert. Found later the "Z EDDY 2" model purchased, had been out of production "for some time" according to Chaco customer support. Product was not marked as a clearance item. Traveled to far away at discovery to return. Makes me wonder about other discontinued/ out of production items throughout store. read more

For the price that your paying here you should at least have someone smile to you when you ask for help. I have to take back every bad word I ever said about this store...too big, sales people are jerks, too much stuff, pricing on the golf clothes - but today I am singing a different tune. I had to purchase a new camel back, along with other stuff for this hiking adventure...and the store manager Eric Gomez and the sales associate Joe could not have been nicer. They were truly patient with me - Eric helped me pick up a reasonably priced camel back - with other suggestions and Joe was the happiest cashier ever! So forget what I have ever said about them - plus the fact you can get new golf balls at very reasonable pricing! So please go in and give them a chance. Hi, I'm not actually writing about this location. I'm writing about Dickssportinggoods.com. In the past I bought quite a few items from Dick's including workout machines. I bought some Nike boots from them for work. I did wear them 3 times. They turned out to be Extremely uncomfortable. Felt like I was walking on steel with a thin pad over it. I called customer service to ask could I return them for an exchange. I disclosed that I Did Wear them. The customer service rep told me YES, I could return them, but said it would be better for me to go directly to a Dick's store in my area. I called the store in my area and they said I could not return them because I wore them. I called customer service back again. They said I could send it back to them for a return. They put me on hold to produce a return label and then a manager cam back on the phone. She told me I Can Not return them because I wore them a few times. I disclosed to every one I spoke to in their customer service that I wore them a few times. They still told me I could return them. It's very bad business to lie to a customer the way they did. Yes, I understand that I wore the shoe, but if their policy was No returns after you've worn them once, I should have been told that the very first time. I was told by 3 reps that I could return them before the supposed manager got on the line and said I can't. It was a horrible experience and I will NEVER shop at Dick's sporting goods again. I also informed my friends. They will never shop there either. PS: The boots still look brand stinking new. I guess they would have appreciated a lie rather than the truth (If I had said I never wore them) and I could have returned them. But, that's NOT my style. I think these boots were defected. Some of the Customer service here leaves A LOT to be desired. I was there last night looking for a tent for camping. the guy in the camping area was VERY helpful I forget his name. 2/3 of the cashiers I asked questions about signing up for the Dicks credit card couldnt help me but what really brought me to write this review was the CSS at the front register. This woman was awful, she was obviously miserable and couldn't even seem to bring herself to even ACT like she liked her job. I could just feel my blood pressure rising while talking to her. Its obvious they are pushing their online campaign, I was told more times than I can count by a couple different associates to let them know if I didn't find what I wanted in store they could order it online for me. So I opened a store credit card with them for the rewards (at 27% interest the rewards are the only reason to open a card) and to get that 10% off my first purchase since we were looking to make a big purchase. After AN HOUR of comparing tents,We couldn't find a tent we liked in store so the guy helping us looked online, we found one we loved and he told us to just go up front and they could order it. So we go to order and the Girl tells me that the discount code isn't working and to go to the other register across the store and the CSS can help us. so we go across the store and are told that we cant use the discount on an online purchase...Ok? So I tell my Husband "well give me the coupon we got in the mail for $10 off we can just use that "no you cant use that on an online purchase" I asked her why they would push us to order online if they don't honor the discount or coupons and that , this was the only reason I even signed up for a credit card.she literally shrugged her shoulders at me and said" I don't know" I asked her how we would get coupons to order online .Again, she looked at me and said "I don't know" .no desire to even attempt to help me, and when I finally asked her to ask someone she jumped on her radio and asked someone else about it then said "yea I know " and laughed. I had to get out of there at that point before I embarrassed my husband. I'm sorry but if one of my employees acted this way, they would not be working for me that is so unprofessional and uncalled for. AND THE KICKER? Wow. The Customer Prevention Department at Dick's is in full control. I drove 90 miles from Borrego Springs to shop treadmills -- liked the Sole F80 at Dick's but didn't want to make an instant decision. The salesperson said "No problem, you can charge it but any time prior to delivery you can call us and we'll just cancel the order." So, I gave them my credit card and they charged $1700 to my card. 3 days later I had still not heard from them re delivery so I called and would up speaking with very unhelpful and downright rude "managers" Kim and Lindsay so I just said, "forget it cancel the order." They told me that order was cancelled but I had to drive 90 miles back there to sign a paper in order for them to issue a credit to my credit card. I called my credit card company and had to dispute the charge to get the credit. Much time and unpleasantness spent on the phone with several unbelievably rude and arrogant "managers" at Dick's. I should have read the Yelp reviews FIRST before going there. read more

I wish I could give this dump no stars! I have shopped there for the last two years for all of my husband's ammo there. There used to be a really helpful, knowledgeable young man in the hunting/fishing department. He was the department lead, but he always took extra time to help me and my husband in finding what we needed. The last time I went in there, there was a new guy working in that department. When I asked for Jason, the old employee, he simply rolled his eyes and said the store made the mistake of letting him leave. This young man then displayed his utter lack of knowledge of any of the department's products. I was sorely disappointed and won't be returning. This past weekend my family took my dad on a birthday trip to Palm Springs. During this trip my dad decided he wanted to go to Dicks to get a couple of things. One of the items that we put in our basket was a pair of Nike Cut off Sweats that were on sale for $19.99. We looked on the wall where all of the nike cut off sweats were $19.99 trying to find his size. We finally found his size and walked toward the register. When the employee started to scan our items she made a comment how good of a deal the shorts were which we then told her thats why we had decided to get them. However, the computer was ringing them up at $39.99, she then called the manager named Olivia. Olivia came up to the register and couldn't believe that the shorts were that discounted. We told her if she wanted we could go get another pair of the same shorts just to prove that they were all marked $19.99, she responded with an attitude, "Well regardless we have to give them to you at that price because its marked". My dad and I looked at each other in disbelief. Olivia then decides to PULL THE CLEARANCE STICKER Off right in front of us, looks up, and says "I Guess you guys didnt put the sticker on it". Yeah, Olivia after we just spent $400 at your store we were trying to get away with $19.99 Nike shorts. GIVE ME A BREAK. read more

This has to be the worst store ever. If I could give minus stars I would. Time and time again we have gone into this store and get disappointed every time. Can't find anyone to help you and when you do they are like no help and have to call for another person that is also no help. This last time that we went in will be our last. They had a sale sign in front of the Winchester Ammo Boxes. When we got to the checkout they were not the sale price. Turns out it was the Plano Ammo Boxes that were on sale and those boxes were Over on the end of the aisle. It is not the customers fault that they put the sign in the wrong spot. Instead of doing the right thing they argued and insulted us. We walked out and will never ever go back. This store sucks. read more
