I needed to pick up some baseball gear for my son's new t-ball adventure. I went to what I thought was Chicks' to find out that Dick's had taken it over. For those that have never heard of Dick's Sporting Goods, they are a HUGE chain outside of CA. I have been to plenty of Dick's outside of CA and they are fantastic in selection and decent on pricing. They will price match on their products. But, the W. Covina store is nowhere near the size of product selection of their other larger stores. This one still reminds me of the old Chick's with just the layout being different. Example, this Dick's doesn't carry any Titleist wedges or putters but other locations (out of state) does. Their pricing is ok and they have matched prices against Big 5, Sports Authority, Sports Chalet and Golfsmith. Either way, you should be able to find what you need. Their online ordering is great as well with offers for free shipping. read more

The service at this store is horrible. I've been to this location multiple times and each time I ever never find what I'm looking for, or encounter bad service. Last Christmas, I was looking for a gift for my aunt who was taking a cruise to Antarctica. I was looking for things like glove liners, camera bag, and warm thermals. A person who I believe was the manager, was re-arranging the front display, and when I walked in and explained what I was looking for and asked for suggestions on what would be helpful products to purchase, he sort of pointed me in a general direction but was not helpful at all in assisting me. I've also come here a few times to browse the sale sections for any good work out apparel and can never find anything good. The clothes here are pretty overpriced, especially since most of these brands are also sold at TJ Maxx or Marshalls for way less. read more

We stopped at Dick's to look for some sports sunglasses. We were unsure what pair to select and was hoping for help from the staff. Unfortunately, the staff was at first unapproachable and then very unhelpful. We asked to see a pair of sunglasses and was directed to another sales associate, who directed us back to the first sales associate. When we asked to see the glasses, he automatically went to package them as if we were going to purchase them. What happened to customer service? Much of the youth today have no customer service skills and don't understand the importance of it. Shame on the companies that don't provide the training or hold staff accountable. The staff looked miserable, unhappy to be there and sloppy. I'm a strong advocate for customer service. If you work in retail, you must know that you will be interacting with people. If that's not for you, then don't work there. Not the type of shopping experience you want customers to have, especially if you expect them to return to your store. read more

I want to give 3 different reviews for 2 different days. .. I walked in yesterday as a last minute thing. My son needed a mouth guard for football (you know teenagers ,they wait til the last minute to let us parents know). .. As soon as I walked in, 2 employees asked me right away if i needed help finding what I needed. They were really nice, too bad I didn't get their names. 2nd review is for the cashier Madeline.. she was polite but kept telling me there were no returns, sale is final. I said okay. She looked at the box and told me again sale is final no returns. Seemed odd she kept reminding me no returns during transaction.. keep in mind I was with my teenage son.. I get home getting ready to open the box to mold the mouth piece and my son realizes that it was for youth. Maybe this is why the cashier kept telling me no returns. It would have been helpful if she would have asked if this was for a youth since she probably figured it was not going to fit my son!!!!! So now I felt stuck with this mouth piece and wasted money since she did say sale is final. So I decided to give it a shot and go attempt to exchange today since it was too late last night. .. When I walked in, I went straight to the cashier (Kiyhanna) who was polite and told me that I was able to exchange for the correct size. Transaction was fast, no issues at all. She did not seem bothered and was happy to assist me.... I was pleased with my experience. FYI: i have no complaints for any employee but it would be nice to catch something the customer didn't to prevent time wasting for both customer &employee. I have never had an issue with this store. I came here to buy a treadmill. After talking to the mgr for several minutes I decided to buy a treadmill they had on display. The mgr then told me that it wasn't in stock but he could order one online for me. What the heck I told him that would be ok. He stated that the treadmill would be delivered in 3-5 businesses days. I figured I could live with that. Four days later I called to see the progress and was notified that I fact it would not be delivered till two weeks after the day I called. I got so upset I asked them to cancel the order. They then said they couldn't because the order was being shipped from the manufacturer. I asked if I could call the manufacturer myself and they gave me the number. I called the manufacturer and they had no clue who I was ( meaning they had NOT received the order yet). I called Dicks to follow up the Monday after and they said all you have to do is refuse the order and it will cancel itself. The manufacturer then called me to schedule a delivery date, so I informed them I wasn't interested in the item anymore and they said no problem they would call Dicks to cancel the order. I also followed up with Dicks that day and they said they would make sure the order would be cancelled then. Well 2 days later I get an email from Dicks stating my delivery date so I called Dicks again (20th call probably) and they said they had no comments that I had all this trouble canceling the order. I asked to speak to a manager ( no help whatsoever) and she was clueless on how to cancel my order for the last time!!! She said to just wait till the delivery company tried to diliver the treadmill and then refuse the order. Wow really you much rather have someone load a treadmill then drive it around town so I can refuse the order??????? HOW IN THE FUCK DOES THAT MAKE SENCE?????? I've been coming here for years since they opened in fact. I will never be coming back again!!!!!!! Way to loose a good customer. I wish there where 0 stars to give!!!! read more

The evening the Dodgers won the title, I went on line to order championship gear. It took me 1/2 hour to place the order for curbside pickup. I drove there to only find that the order hadn't been picked yet so I had to wait in the freezing cold. Come to find out they wouldn't be fulfilling my order because of the massive line outside of shoppers who hsd not even placed an order. They were catering to the IN LINE shoppers, not the ON LINE customer who purchased. They would've only gotten one star had not the manager on duty let me in after I loudly voiced my opinion about this policy. I was told I could buy what I wanted then come get the DUPLICATE items I had already paid for ON THE WEBSITE. Yesterday, I receive an email stating MY ON LINE ORDER, that I placed right after the game ended, WAS CANCELLED... OUT OF STOCK.!! The curbside "convenience" was not convenient at all. Once she gave it to me I asked about the clearance sign it had on top and she said I wouldn't know you have to check closely and I told her there was nothing that said and she told me to look closely. You can't get anyone to help you to save your life! I have been shopping here for years since it was Chick's (Great) and now Dick's (Sucks). The only employees you see are at the cash register it is not suprising not to see anyone while you wander around. Even if you go to the cash register area and ask for assistance in a department most of the time you will wait and wait. Today I left and over heard the older man with his son in front of me comment on the same lack of assistance. He said as I did, "when it used to be Chick's you always had someone to help you". I shopped at Sports Chalet and bought the same baseball bat for $279 and at Dick's it would have been $299 anyway. Good size sporting goods store with a variety of sports clothing brands, equipment and shoes. But good luck finding an associate to help you. With the size of the store, there should be someone roaming around to assist, instead, each and everytime I have walked into this place they are all up front jaw jacking. So kind of annoying when you need help with the fitting room or finding a shoe in the back of the store and no one is to be found unless you walk to the front. The other thing, this place is Full Retail, I have never found anything I wanted or needed on sale. The only items on sale are things that nobody wants or cant fit in like XXL or XS. read more

All I can say is that this Dicks store has the the poorest customer service. The manager treats people like they need him and he talks to you like he's better than you. The one girl employee I came in contact with act like she didn't want to be there and that every customer bothered her. The corporate offices need to make changes in management here. The only person with excellent customer service at this store was the employee taking care of the golf department and I came in contact with him because I needed to get my son a driver and he was very in full informative and patient. read more

Susan and Ryan were very very helpful. I truly feel they gave 110% in customer service. I drove a long way to purchase a Hydroflask and they had just sold out of the size I had wanted. Well Susan and Ryan had me purchase with the Hydroflask I wanted even the exact size I wanted. They went to the back storage went through boxes went above and beyond to please a customer. This is what every store needs to do. Not to mention the time I waited was 10 min if that. Susan and Ryan thank you so much for your outstanding customer service. The drive and traffic was worth it! Lots of selection and looks nice after the remodel. But it seems the customer service is still sub par. I was in the area looking at exercise equipment and like another reviewer mentioned, the rep was "on break". I was told they would give me a call regarding stock later after leaving my phone number and name with them, but it seems they never called back. They rep who supposedly tried to help me knew nothing about the products and seemed very incompetent. I just had a bad customer service experience at this store today. I walked in looking to purchase some Under Armour baseball sun glasses. I approached the gentleman at the counter and ask if I could have someone assist me, he asked someone on his mic and told me they would be with me shortly. So I walked back to the sun glasses area, waited there for a little under 20 minutes. I then went back to the guy and asked if anyone was gonna help me out, he said, "yes, let me get someone over there." Again I went back to the area and waited for another 10 minutes to the point where I was frustrated. During this total of around 30 minutes, and I mean literally, 30 minutes, I had 3 employees walk right by me and not once did anyone even ask me if I needed help, I could have been stealing the sunglasses for all they know and they still wouldn't have even cared or noticed. At this point I asked if I could see a manager, the young guy I spoke with walked by me without even giving me any eye contact and said "sure, I'll get them, hold on." Great! 5 minutes later he comes back and ask if he can help me, I said no, I'd just like to speak to your manager. Finally I get to speak to the manager. I then told her that I was here for around 30 minutes and I have gone twice to the register and asked for help, and not once did anyone show up or even ask if I needed assistance as they walked by. I said this was very poor customer service, and she agreed but then asked if she could help me now. At this point I didn't want to purchase the glasses anymore. I told no, I don't want to purchase them now, I just wanted to tell you, working in customer service myself that is very bad service and I know I would never treat the people I deal with on a daily basis like this, especially representing my company. She then asked the guy why I wasn't helped, since he was the guy who was working the area, he really had nothing to say. Really? There is a shocker. I go to this Dick's Sporting goods quite often, I've had bad customer service issues at this store before, so this is something that's been going on for a while. Today I actually hit the point of this is enough. If you've ever been to the store, you know they hire a certain type of individual to work at this store. The men all look the same, men who work out and the females are pretty much the same. They are all of a certain age as well, usually young college students or right out of high school. The customer service there shows the age immaturity, this if I don't feel like helping you I'm not gonna help you, as they walk by looking at their cell phones, while this has happened to me many times. The manager seemed a nice lady, but I'm sure nothing is gonna get done at this store, after all, we live in this society where in a store like this, it's not about customer service, but how you look. As long as you can fill out your shirt with muscles as a young man, your hired, and if you can pull off the leggings and have a certain figure as a female, your hired. When I go to a sporting goods store I want to be helped--helped by people who understand that good customer service is still important in this day and age. It's how you keep customers coming back. I can honestly say I will not shop in this store again. If this was a one time thing, I would say ok, it happened once, but this has been an on going issue at this store, and as I can see from other reviews, other individuals have had bad customer service experiences as well. Will Dick's Sporting Goods look more closely at who they hire? of course not, I'm just one person with a complaint, And this review probably won't do anything. But I thought I should let my voice be heard. It's situations like this that send the customers to do their shopping online. Will I get the sunglasses I wanted, of course. Came here over the weekend to purchase the Nike Fuel Band SE, all black, M/L in size. First off, they had plenty of what I was looking for. So, kudos for that. Walked in, easily found what I was looking for and requested for help. Sales woman got it fast, and cashier offered insurance etc. which I declined. So, they had what I wanted and they got me in and out in no time. Not the greatest of customer service, but not the worst by no means either. Now, for the fun stuff. I get to my car and pretty excited that I actually found what I was looking for rather than having to purchase online. So, I was pumped! However, when I took it out of the bag the box was already open, the USB was missing and a bag of extensions inside was ripped open. No more than 5 minutes have passed, I went back in to exchange for a brand new one and they kindly obliged with no hassled. However, several other boxes of the same item were open as well. It's a pretty pricey little gadget, so I requested one that wasn't open at all. The sales woman was the same cashier who helped me, she was overly concerned so that was nice to see, but I was curious where was this same concern when I first came in. Like I said, not bad nor excellent. If they have what I want then I'll be back. If not, then I'll be looking elsewhere. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Stay away or matter of fact don't waste your time coming into this place. Not only is there no one on the sales floor to ask where anything is, but when you find an associate they have no idea where the product is. When I asked if there was a product in store, which your website stated you had, hence the reason why I came in because I thought I'd get it faster in store. However, when I asked how soon the product would be back in store the associate said, you have to be lucky. Hmmm lucky. Mind you when he's answering my question and ringing me out he has a scanner checking the availability for someone else on another product. Seems real lucky to me.
