This is my primary spot to buy sporting related gear. The only flaw is that i can never find someone to help me out when i need help with something. All the employees are usually congregated in the same area conversing as opposed to be in their assigned areas to help the customers. It's a typical Dick's Sporting Goods. They have a decent selection of items and the staff are pretty helpful. I was in there looking for a pair of basketball shoes. They didn't have a great selection of basketball shoes, but they did have a tremendous selection of running shoes. read more

I've been here several times. It's a large store but at the same time, it feels like they lack a few items that they should have. Considering they are much larger than Big 5, they don't have as much as they do. One of the few things I like about this place is the way how they sell weights. I needed some extra weights to add onto my Olympic weight set. They charge by pound but after 25 lbs (?), the price is discounted. So I added an extra 15 lbs to my set for a good price under $20. Now for the downside, they seem like they overload on a couple merchandise. I came in once to look for an Olympic EZ bar, but they didn't have it. I had to run over to Big 5 to get a set that came with two dumbbell bars. Once, I came in to look for water canteens but had only a small selection. One time, I took a look at their benches, they didn't have much. I even asked them if they had slant boards. One girl didn't know what that was. So she asked a guy and he said they didn't have any. Seriously? "Where can I find an employee??!!" That's what you'll find yourself asking when you stop here. To sum it up, it's an ok store. It just needs to widen up its merchandise and have more employees. read more

I been to plenty of Dicks. This store by far is the worst when comes to customer service. When I first came in Wanda the wrap their rolled her eyes when I walked in with the bat then her service reflected. The Manager Angie was rude and has no customer relationship skills. I had to request to call customer service to help her do her job. spent over an hour being disrespected. At the end of me walking out of the store felt very uncomfortable this should have no tolerance when spending over $1,000 a month at this store. I've been here on several occasions for my sporting good needs. The first couple times the service(or lack thereof) was really bothersome, and I was hard pressed to find help finding products or information on anything. However, the last couple times I've been here the service has been great, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. They do have a great selection of basically anything you could ever ask for, and the couple workers I did talk to were very knowledgeable about everything I needed to know. Sometimes I stroll through here even if I don't have anything to buy, just to browse and drool at all the awesome gear I can't afford. Went into the store in the early morning hours, maybe a half an hour after the store opened. There were 4 visible employees, none of which said hello or offered assistance (zero customers in the store as well). I asked where the basketball nets were and one guy pointed without responding. i bought golf clubs here spent around 2500. alao had them fit and cut and new upgrade on grips all at extra cost like another 250. they would not even give me the allen wrench to adjust drivers like a two dollars tool they were very rude when clubs were ready i will never shop there again not only are pricess more there but its the rudeness that drew the line.. i wont be back unless maybe they mail me the allen wrench that will show it was a one time issue dont get me wrong i have snap on brand tools with all sizes of allen by the dozens other than that im out . read more

random weeknight, I was probably the only person store, visibly empty and quiet enough for 4 female cashiers lounging around, 1 was rude when I asked her for an item, said what ever we have out is what we have, dismissed the question then went back to their conversation as she walked away. I asked another she said you need to ask someone behind the registrater, I can't move, I'm guarding the door. I asked if a different store might have one, if they could check before I drive out there, they bounced back and forth with excuses so they wouldn't have to call, then I said can you or can't you do a common customer service courtesy and call and check if it's stock?? Then one finally started to do a item check for me, as if they were doing me a favor. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Pattie at the West Covina Dick's Sporting Goods approached my 12 year old daughter and niece ...and asked who they were with and they have to leave to store because they look like a they were gonna steal . My daughter then came over where I was in the store with Pattie the Manager at Dick's Sporting Goods in West Covina . She then told me we needed to leave the store because we looked like a group of people that had been stealing their Nike apparel. And when I asked her what made her think that she told me she was calling the police . So my family because were black look like we're going to steal ! I really like coming to this store I can always find what I need for my sons little league gear.

This store is good if you're into team sports, but I'm a bigger fan of Sports Chalet and REI for outdoor stuff.

tl; dr: go elsewhere unless you're a golfer, a baseball player, or a poseur. try your luck at big 5, turner's outdoorsman, bass pro shops, etc. if you want to buy sporting goods. if you want to dress the part of a sports fan, this is the place for you. this dick's has so many clothes, it could be mistaken for a department store. it has t-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, shoes, and even hats a plenty. on the other hand, if you want to buy actual sporting goods, unless you're looking for golf clubs, or something for baseball (e.g., bats, gloves, cleats), try elsewhere. i specifically came to this dick's to look for tennis gear, camping gear, hiking gear, and fishing gear--this store is located in the foothills of the san gabriel mountains, near numerous hiking trails, and within a short 15 minute drive to bonelli park (where camping and fishing are all available), after all. when i brought up my concern with this store's lack of tennis racquets, fishing tackle, and folding knives with the store manager, she just brushed me off and said these items are stocked at other locations--not her store. in other words, this manager is proud that her store will force a customer to travel from store to store in order to buy all of his sports needs. in reply, i told the manager that dick's has lost me as a customer for good. instead, i will patronize big 5, turner's outdoorsman, bass pro shop, and look around for local sporting goods and/or bait and tackle shops. to the store manager, i'm glad you've been working at dick's since 2002 (when it was still chick's), it means you have job stability, which also presumes you know what you're doing...yet, one would think that having worked at this location for so long, you would know better than to blow off someone who began shopping at chick's before you ever arrived. but hey, you do you; piss off and screw over customers to your heart's content. as an aside, i recognize that i have not posted many reviews. in fact, i usually just live and let live when it come to crap service/experiences. my writing up a review tonight (several hours after i left the store) just serves to show how bothered and upset i was by my experiences--especially by how quickly the manager dismissed my concerns about the lack of the sports gear i mentioned. for those who complained about the lack of service at this locale, i understand very well what you mean. i walked a complete circuit of the store twice, trying to find tennis racquets, etc. at no point did any employee ask if i needed assistance, though i saw a couple chatting merrily during my laps around the store. given the manager's attitude, i can see why the customer service is so spotty at this location; as the adage goes, the fish rots from the head. read more

Horible Customer Service, The worst shopping experience I have ever had. I needed little leage baseball equipment, I asked 6 sales persons for help and they all said they were On Lunch Breaks. The store went from a plain Chicks store to a huge pro advertising Dicks store. They remodel it pretty nice. They didn't have a lot to choose from like shoes for big kids but the clearance rack was full of basketball shorts and warm ups as low as $6 . Isles with the rack seemed a little hard to get around especially if someone is there looking through them. Went in the morning so had no problem when checking out. Gave it a 3 because it didn't have a lot of what I was looking for and I went there thinking that they will because its a huge store. Big let down. read more

I used to dislike this place because of their customer service. Today I needed my putter re-griped, we usually go to Roger Dunn but today we just want to go somewhere close for convenience. I ran into one of the most knowledgeable golf guru his name is Matt. I don't understand how so many of there white clothes (shirts) are dirty with makeup, I asked one of the employees why is that?... She had nothing to say but sorry. I recommend some kind of policy to keep their unpurchased "brand new clothes" CLEAN. It's DISGUSTING!! Who's going to buy shirts that are full of makeup? I hate to pay full price for many things and sports/workout stuff is one of them. Hello...has Dick been to Ross or TJ's bc If he has he wouldn't charge $40 bucks for a dodger t shirt or $47 on a Nike shoulder bag. Ridiculous! Even the sale stuff is 2X as much as I see it in the discount stores. Ok ok maybe this is the latest and greatest most up to date line of each brand but I'm sorry I would rather get last season for a third of the price. I know you think I am a bit of a cheapskate and that's fine. I prefer saver. That being said...what a huge selection of the most desirable sport/workout stuff. Wow! I have been here plenty but every time I end up spending a good 30 minutes to an hour looking around. They have me thinking I can be a pro baseball player all the way to kayaking on white waters. Great selection of anything and everything you may need for all physical activities. Not REI style but more Kobe/Puig style. Friendly staff and near plenty of other shopping options. Front lady/cashier was SUPER rude!! Didn't speak a word to me. I walked up, she rang up my purchase, turns around and starts talking to her co worker, reaches her hand out to get the receipt and hands it to me, not even looking at me, just reaches her hand out, rips it and hands it to me. Shirt was still on the counter, did get a bag or was even offered one. Innacurate pricing, bought a hydroflask and the only price tag on the shelf was for $25, when I go to pay it rings up as $30. I ask the cashier and we go check out the stand it turned out that the price tag was for the 16 oz, not 18. There was actually no 16 oz anywhere on the display stand. It was fine as other sporting goods store. It's kind of big here, so you can get goods for all kind of sports. There has golf, baseball, soccer, basketball, shoes, tennis items so on. All corners are equally big. Also there's exercise wears, but it wasn't good price, so I think you should go somewhere else that has reasonable sports wears. read more

Customer service is horrible at this location. I've been there twice & both times there employees are so rude. I went in today 7/21/15 in the late evening. A young lady with a pink shirt didn't even get her name, didn't have the courtesy to look up & answer my question politely. I work in sales so I know what it's like but there's no excuse to be rude your job is to help customers not to lose them. First impressions coming up on this location in Eastland shopping center in the evening is the entrance is poorly lit and looks closed for business. The sales floor is quite massive and the variety and selection of products offered is large. I came for some fitness wear for my wife, and I missed on the sizes. We went back to exchange for something else with the gift receipt but couldn't find anything in her size that she liked. After waiting in line over 40 minutes we were offered only store credit without the original receipt. I requested that the purchase be returned to the original account but the manager said their policy & system would not allow him to. We found the original receipt and had to go back again the following day to return her clothes. The manager we encountered with on all 3 visits either had poor customer service skills or the policies allowed him no authority to accommodate us as we should have been. After this experience WE WILL NOT be shopping here or darkening it's already darkened doors again. read more

I called today trying to find out if they carried an item in store that I saw on their website because I needed it today. Once I called them they answered told me to hold and that they will check for me. Waited 1 min then someone answered and asked me how they can help me, i told them what I was looking for then they told me to hold again and someone else picked up asked me how they can help me and when I told them they once again told me to hold again and that they will check for me, finally i was on hold for another 2-3 mins and when the guy answered the phone they asked me how they can help me. That is when I realized that they are just transferring me to another person. They didn't even ask me anything about the product I was looking for. But I'm glad I checked, because I won't be going there to buy anything, and I agree with Mike E., I've been there before their products are crazy expensive. If I wasn't looking for that certain item and if their store wasn't the only store that had it available on their website, I wouldn't have even bother calling them. read more
