Didi's has a rustic feel inside, a transformed old house to restaurant. Small town vibe. The food was good, but prices seemed a bit high. Which would make us think twice about going back. My wife had the phili cheese steak sandwich which didn't have the amount of cheese you'd expect from a typical one, everything else about it though was good. I had country fried steak and eggs, which came with some potatoes as a side, but many other restaurants also give pancakes or toast for the same price. Quality/taste of the food no complaints, was good. We took our little and he had a kids egg and sausage which was $8. We just wanted to try it out with friends who picked it never being there before either. It was a nice experience overall, staff was attentive, but for the price, probably choosing another place first. I hate to be the naysayer here because the staff is lovely and I want to support small businesses. So please, go visit with the intent of supporting a local operation. However, six of us dined here and nothing was worth going back for or even fully consuming. I do think this could be a great watering hole...perhaps go order from the bar, sit on the patio, see some friendly faces, just please don't go expecting exceptional food. We enjoyed the flavors of our meals. I had blackened catcfish Pochatrain with a red pepper cream sauce. Had 3 shrimp on top. Not too spicy. My husband had the NY Strip. Very moist. My son had a frito pue made of a higher quality meat. He also had mac and cheese. Originally, he had to send it back because it didn't have enough cheese on it. No big deal, they fixed it. Lots of variety on the menu. The chef and owner graciously made his rounds to the table to check on us. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They have a large patio, enclosed with a tent like structure and both heaters and fans for weather variations. They have live musicians that play. We liked the atmosphere as it is a house. I've been to Didi's a couple times. This place has such a fun vibe. You often see the chef/owner walking around the dining room talking to customers and filming shorts for social media. He takes real pride in the place and it shows. Weekly specials are all amazing and happy hour menu is great. My only critique would be for such a fun place the food presentation and dishes leave something to be desired. We're talking plain white, round plates, with no character. I'd recommend going when they're a little busy. The last time I went it was late afternoon and it was slow and the staff was limited. If you go later you get the A team staff and pleasant live music most nights. read more

This was our first time here. I will stay by saying this is my new favorite place. The food was FANTASTIC! The staff was top notch, and plenty of staff. The owner/chef Scott kept going around helping staff, gathering plates and checking with guest. The prices are reasonable. Then when you step outside the back it is a whole new world with live band and great night life. We look forward to going for brunch and just going for drinks and band. You need to make reservations but they do take walk ins. We had no reservations and only waited 20 mins. Well worth the wait. If in the Frisco area make the stop. What a hidden gem in Downtown Frisco! A must have: Their hot sauce, ceazer salad, croutons, Mexican corn, meatloaf....just so incredible. Their hot sauce is amazing and so yummy, we bought more to bring home. The chips are a little different...they probably need to change out to thinner chips...a little too thick and no flavor. Their Caesar salad is so fresh and their croutons have so much flavor and melt in your mouth. I'm ordering more next time! Oh my gosh...The Mexican Corn??? Wow...every bite I think I said "Wow". I think they need to sell that in grocery stores or online....I mean it's one of a kind. The meatloaf? Food is okay. Burgers are a bit dry and massive for a child. Fries were not good. Almost burnt. Drinks were prob the best overall. I did like the steak I had here and the pattymelt wasn't bad. Those fries just are way too overdone. Service is always good here. I can't complain at all on that. They typically go above and beyond. Ambiance is a bit divey. Not dirty but just dark and dusty. Overall I could see myself coming back but the best thing I have had here was their deviled eggs and drinks so perhaps limited with a YMMV situation. Asked for over medium, got over easy - almost sunny. The shrimp and grits were good however. My girlfriend ordered country potatoes for the table to share. I didn't care for them. They were barely seasoned and undercooked. My girlfriends liked their meals, big daddy burrito and a short stack. I give it 3 stars because the first time my boyfriend and I went there, we recieved great service and the food was yummy. But the second time we came, everything was flipped. We got seated right away-- sure. But when we came it was for brunch on the weekend. Sounds easy, right? Well, on the website, it doesn't mention that brunch is only served on SUNDAYS. So, if you're in the mood for brunch, ONLY come on a Sunday. We told this to the waitress and she seem unbothered. She just said, "Oh, sorry. I'll give you a minute." and didn't even bother to make an apology for the confusion. The dining room was NOT packed and yet, she came up to us and was seemingly trying to rush us along to make a descision (3 times or so), and when we told her that we weren't quite sure what to get (as we were set on the brunch menu) she didn't even make a suggestion. It all felt very rushed and kind of rude,honestly) We weren't there for maybe 15 minutes total and we took maybe 6 minutes deliberating and since we truned away our waitress 3 times, it was like she purposfully decided to take a spin around the dining room and we were waving at her and saying, "HELLO?" a couple of times, even tried to catch her by sayin,"Miss?" a couple of times when she sat down two tables next to us. Frustrated, we left for another place because we felt ignored. When we left,, the hostess and the owner were at the host stand and they gave us a very loud and chipper,"Thank you!" I loved the cheese in the grits! The side of potatoes that were under the hash were a bit plain. Whoa. This visit was my first time for DiDi's. My family visits more frequently, but I haven't had the opportunity to go, but I have to say I was so impressed that I went again tonight 3/7/24. Both times I had take out, tonight my family dinner in and got me something to go. I got the redfish and grits each time with a couple special requests like sauce on the side, etc. They nailed it both times. Fish was perfectly cooked, fresh, and packed exactly how I ordered it. Can't speak to the ambience but my wife tells me we'll dine in together sometime soon. She loves the homely, comfortable atmosphere. Not a typical restaurant so it's more comfortable. Ambiance 5/5: beautiful, sunny day, on a patio, a couple of drinks, live music, what's not to like? Food 2/5: the philly egg rolls were "ok". You get 4 to an order (2 whole egg rolls).... So for what you pay, (over $10). Just not worth it, IMO. Philly cheesesteak was bland, nothing special, almost tasted a little "made-waaaaay-aheadish" if you catch my drift. The queso on the side was so cold it was a block of cheese and no longer queso. The drinks were weak; my 4 year old wouldn't get a buzz..... Service 3/5: Nothing mind blowing! I get it! everyone's understaffed right now! Refills stayed coming..... I really don't know what happened here. It was a Sunday afternoon, so they didn't seem overly busy. Folks love this place! Leaving a follow up review after the owners ridiculous response to my husbands review last week We went to Didis twice while visiting some friends last week, the first time for dinner which was great 5/5, saw they had brunch and decided to go back Saturday for it We got there at 10:30 and realized they didn't open till 11 so walked over to Summer Moon coffee near by, got coffee walked back to Didis and sat outside for a few minutes waiting till 11, no where did we see any "no outside food/beverage" signs We go in and are greeted by 3 ladies at the host stand, clearly carrying/sipping our coffee, no one says anything, we're seated and given menus, waitress comes and take our orders, again nothing said about our outside coffees Food comes, everyone starts eating, we're literally finished with the coffees and 3/4 finished with our food The owner walks by our table (I assume he's on his way to their office room with the cameras/computers) stops in his tracks and walks over to our table, asks how everything came out- great food is delicious, then "informs us" we're not allowed to bring in outside food/drink, we apologize, we explain we didn't realize they didn't allow that and we're sorry, he doubles down rudely with "yeah it's a health code violation!" Ok sorry man, we don't work in the food industry, we didn't remember seeing a sign and no one said anything to us Then he just walks away If that's your definition of polite you need to learn some manners We literally sat there after shocked at how awkward the interaction was We finished up, paid and left, on our way out we double checked we didn't miss a sign on our way in I find the whole situation and "concern" for health code amusing considering the employees where clearing sharing bites of a plate of the special (Mac nut pancakes) in the small room next to what I assume is the office and just left the plate sitting there between helping customers Don't worry about us bringing outside coffee in next time, we won't bother coming back read more
