My girlfriend and I were driving from Austin, TX to Las Vegas, NM. And en route I started to hear some whining sound from my car ('98 318ti). Thought it was my wheel bearing, which scared me. We were in Roswell, NM when I decided to give some calls to independent shops in Albuquerque. I got a gut feeling when I talked to this shop so we drove there. The lady (Monica - Dieter's daughter I think) was very attentive, honest, and knowledgeable of my car. The two technicians on site were thorough with my car and diagnosed the problem after checking all my wheels and transmission. It was the clutch throwout bearing. I was assured we could continue on with the drive to LV and back to ATX. I felt good. We felt good. I almost want to move to Albuquerque so my little hatchback could be serviced by these guys. Dieter and Monica are the best! In June 2018 I had a real car emergency. My BMW 5 series was dying as I approached Albuquerque, head gasket failure, spewing oil all the way. The car was toast, no way I could make it back to KC. A total disaster, I was freaking out. I picked them out of the phone book. They dropped everything to help me. They sold me a spiffy 2001 3 series at a very reasonable price, and took the dead one off my hands. They drove me across town to a bank where I could get the cash to pay for it. They changed the oil and cleaned it up, then sent me on my way. 18 months later guess what? It is still running like a top, ZERO problems, I love it! They were absolute angels, a godsend. From the moment I pulled in and met them I knew I could trust them, and they did not disappoint. Only wish they were in my town! read more

Unfortunately, after 4 trips back and forth to this shop, and over $1000 dollars later, the problem was not fixed. Our BMW 335i was having issues accelerating, and would knock and shake violently when idling. The exhaust released smoke and extremely rich gas vapors. 1st Trip: "It's probably bad gas, use better gas and drive it around a while, it should go away." After two full tanks of higher grade gasoline and two weeks later: Problem worsened. 2nd trip: "Oh. It's a bad fuel pump/regulator. And bad spark plugs. Everything else is fine. We'll order parts and do it next week." Problem persisted. They never called to tell me that the parts came in. I called to check in after a week and they told me I missed my appointment. What appointment? Another week later..... 3rd trip: Replaced these things. Given the "all clear!" Problem worsened. 4th Trip: "The other pump is now showing that it needs replacing. But the vehicle might just need time to recalibrate itself after the new pump was installed. Drive it around, let the pumps "talk to each other" to regulate, it will balance out the mixture with the computers." WTF? Still no fix. At this point, we almost felt like they were either a) giving us the run around or b) had NO idea what the actual problem was. It was always a new story, and the descriptions were very wishy-washy. After deciding that (though they may have good intentions), they were clearly incompetent when it came to diagnosing and correcting the issue. Despite being "German Car Specialists." We bit the bullet and went to the pricey, but reliable BMW Dealership. They diagnosed the problem instantly. Bad fuel injectors. (FACE PALM!) $2700 later and ONE trip, the issue seems to be resolved. AND that cost included other issues the car was having--issues that Dieter's seemed to overlook. Though the Dealership cost more in the end, it was worth it after 2 MONTHS of waiting for my vehicle to be correctly repaired and fully functioning. Hate to give a local business a bad review, but this was absolutely unacceptable. read more

I brought my 2012 Mini Cooper in for a minor fix. I had stopped by a different shop, German Motorwerk on 4th St. GM quoted me over $150 so I left. Dieter's scheduled me in very quickly and did the repair for $56. They are really nice and know German cars old and new!! read more

Came in with no appointment and they were able to get me in. The lady up front was supper nice and explained what I needed and the guy in the back repaired my car right then and there. I was back on the road (with my 328i) within no time. I will be going here for my next repair needs, and would recommend them to other BMW owners. I wish I knew of them sooner. Destroyed the outer cv joint with an impact hammer when replacing my wheel bearing. Now my car clunks driving over uneven roads and will cost me 1300 dollars to replace the axle. They lack the proper tools to work on modern BMW's. Their are chisel marks all over the outer cv joint. They don't know about special BMW axle press tools or any modern BMW tools obviously. read more

I brought my 325i in for a check up after buying it from a local reputable used dealer in town. The check engine light had come on and I was concerned about what might be wrong with it. I wanted my car worked on by someone who knew BMW's well and I did not want to pay dealer prices. Monica (daughter of Dieter) was nice and drove me back home where I could use my son's car until their work was done. I soon discovered that this would be an expensive repair as they listed several costly repairs which they recommended for my car. 1. Worn out control arm bushings. 2. Thermo sensor failure. 3.Seat belt latch failure. 4. Leaking oil pan . 5. Leaking transmission pan. 6. Faulty passenger seat sensor. 7. Failed trunk pistons. This all totaled over $3500.00! I never expected to be paying so much and after several conversations I consented to about $2200.00 of these repairs that Monica deemed necessary today. They were able to do the work fast enough but the oil, trans pans and seat sensor would have to wait. I later took my car to another Indy BMW shop in town (the sensor appears to be working now as it alarms if the passenger is not buckled in), and the other shop did not see any real need to repair either the oil or trans pans. They also quoted me about $350.00 less to replace the gasket for my transmission pan and clean and replace the fluid. I was reminded that an older car would have small leaks from time to time and that as long as they were not more than minor, that this would not cause any problems. I wished that I had a more straight talk with dieter's and it makes me wonder if I would have been better off going to the second mechanic instead. All in all, dieter's did a good job, but with the shock of the total repair cost, and the second opinion, I might stick with the second shop for any future work. read more

I drive a 1974 BMW 2002 (that's a model 2002 from the year 1974 for the non-car geeks out there) and there aren't too many places that will deal with my classic bimmer. Dieter is one of them and he knows what he's doing. Fixed my car and gave it a quick once over as I haven't owned it long and tidied up a couple things under the hood. Didn't try to sell me anything i didn't need. He knows my old car backwards and forwards and while $98/hr is a little hefty for labor, if you have a classic German car good luck finding somebody else who can work on it competently around here. I'll be going back when the next thing breaks, and it will. Hopefully later than sooner. Although when it does, at least I'll know there's somebody who can fix it. read more

Took a vintage 75 bmw 2002 for a pre purchase inspection. Dieter was very knowledgable and patient. Pointed out all problems and potential problems with the vintage car. While there, they were working on modern as well as vintage German vehicles. Very pleased with their service. Highly recommend if you own any german marque. read more

Was told by many people to take my car here for service. I had tried a few other shops in town, although they were ok I just felt like I could find better. When my car had an issue again I decided to try them out. When I called the lady on the phone was vey nice and got me in that next day. When I got there they were very busy, but she was quick to check me in and find out if there was anything new going on with the car since we had spoke last. She then informed me that she would call as soon as she knew what was going on with my car. I got a call about 1 hour later. She informed me that the check engine light was on due to a few items. And one of the reasons was why I had a burning oil smell too. I decided to repair the ones that I need to as well as taking her advice to change the type of fuel I was driving in my car. So after a few months of driving my car now I am happy to report it is driving better then I can remember and I am getting better fuel mileage too! Guess she was right use a better fuel and the car will run better for you. So thanks to her and Chevron I am filling up less and driving my car more!!! I look forward to going there next time too. I know there were a few more items she informed me of that will be needing to be replaced soon.I did like the no pressure sale from her. She made me feel like she was looking out for me and my car not here to make a fast buck! read more
