Despite a few things, we had a great day on the water with one of their jetski rentals. That being said, the experience wasn't as good as the Mad Moose rentals on Quail Creek. Because this is the only option on-site, you just have to accept the price. But I would say the main negative was that the rental itself was pretty beaten up. The kill switch clip was broken, and the steering was great. At least the kids running the place were chill about the issues and didn't try and blame us. Not all rental places are like that. Some places basically look for any reason to charge you damages regardless if you were responsible or not. - More expensive - Charged for gas - Relatively hassle free renting/returning. read more

Rented jet skis from here and had a blast. I reserved my high powered Jet ski online before hand to make sure it was available. I was a bit worried about flooding the engine which came with a $500 fee that i had read about in other reviews. Because of this i kinda took it easy and didn't do any crazy high speed turns to avoid flipping which floods the engine. I also read a few things on the internet about how to avoid flooding the engine. The big one was if it dies and someone tows you in make sure they go slower than 5 MPH, because dragging it thru the water at higher speeds pulls water into the engine and floods it. It was my first time on a jet ski, they excellerate very quickly like a motorcycle. It took me a little while to get used to the speed, but eventually got it to full throttle, i just dialed it down when it got choppy. The staff was helpful and friendly. The jet skis all seemed pretty new and we had no problems with them. They say each jet ski can hold 3 people but they suggest only 2 per as it increases the chances of flooding the engine. Also if you fall off, be careful when getting back on, thats how you can easily flip the jet ski and flood it. There was also a swimmers itch warning, which is a harmless parasite that leaves a rash on your skin. Although it was the season for it and warning signs, no one encountered any of this. We all had a blast, some tips; bring sunscreen or wear long sleeves to protect you from the sun, if you have sunglasses make sure you have a lanyard that keeps them around your neck in case they come off. There was also a $20 fee at the entrance to the park for non Utah residence, which we did not anticipate. Over all a fun and exciting experience. read more

Went in with a big group since some needed to eat lunch. They were shorthanded with staff and were not setup to handle the crowds and this was a week day. The only food that was decent was the burgers and ice cream, everything else I would strongly recommend not to order. It's overpriced under whelming beach food. On another note, they do handle all the rentals for boats, jet skis and utvs. The jet skis are by the hour, didn't look into other rentals and they don't have insurance to cover. read more

Had SO much fun here! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and made me feel safe driving the UTVs. They even provided water and snacks for the hour long tour. The places they stopped at had beautiful views and I got a bunch of great pictures. I will definitely be returning next time I'm in the area. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. I was at The Shack (other rental place) at Sand Hollow and thought they were the same. I called and got quite possibly the rudest employee...so I thought. I repeatedly asked if I was speaking to someone at The Shack and she kept saying it was. The Shack wasn't open and she was arguing with me. Long story short, she has no clue about Sand Hollow and thought they were the only rental place. So my 16 year old and I figure out it's a different place and drive over there. We walk in and she was no better in person. All the staff are rude and have absolutely no clue on what is going on. There was literally a stack of stickers and I asked if I could buy one and they didn't even know. Finally get 2 kayaks rented and go down to the beach, don't see any employees so yell out a few times and finally walk to the other side of the little trailer and there are three sitting over there completely ignoring us. They heard us but decided not to help. When I asked them for help there was no greeting or anything, just complete annoyance that I was asking them to do their job. Kid tells us to grab life jackets and pulls two kayaks to the waters edge. We get down there and they were the roughest looking kayaks I have ever seen. Literally missing seats, straps..just a mess. Ask for one that isn't broken and the kid helping us argues that they aren't broken. I'm like..it's missing the back to its seat and the second one is missing a support strap so the seat won't work. He pulls us a third kayak...also broken. I asked to speak to a manager (feeling like a Karen at this point) and he just stares at me. I call up to the building and ask for a manager to be sent down and the girls refuses. I finally give up and we walk back to the building where the manager informs us "All the kayaks are broken, it's monsoon season." Like that explains why they are renting out unsafe kayaks and not warning customers. I look at the girl that has been rude the entire time and apologize to her if I have been rude because I'm not that type of person, my son leaves in a couple days for school and I just wanted to do something fun. She pretty much gave me the finger with the look she gave me. Manager could not believe I didn't want to pay $64 for broken kayaks. Don't go here, it's a complete joke. We rented from the other rental place The Shack and they were perfect condition and same price with a super friendly employee. Best part, we are out kayaking and one of the Resorts jet skis was dead in the middle of the lake. Don't take your chances and waste your money. read more

Tldr: fantastic customer service, had issues with the first boat and they switched our boat out easily and extended our time. Large speaker was provided, boat had a 12 volt outlet, so bring a car charger. They gave us an emergency number to call if we had a problem. 10/10 would reccomend for inexperienced boaters. I had an amazing experience renting from this place. For background: my friends and I were visiting St George, and only one of us had prior boating experience. We came from Los Angeles where most boating options are expensive, so we were loved the relatively affordable pricing here. We showed up around 11:45 on July 5th, a federal holiday, so we were worried we wouldn't be able to rent a boat before coming. However, they said they could get us in a boat by 12:30, so we got 2 hours for around 300 bucks (I don't know the exact price). We added on a rental tube for $35. At the front Julia helped me and she was outstanding. She was extremely helpful and patient with all my questions, as I knew nothing about boating, and I told her "we have five people and we want the cheapest and shittiest boat you have. We don't care about speed, just give us something that floats". They had a spreadsheet we could look at with the pricing including gas and tax for every boat. It was v useful to see the post-tax/fee pricing. Their smallest speedboats had a capacity of 8 people. We had 5 people and were very comfortable in the 8 person boat with a cooler and a bunch of backpacks and towels. The boat also had a 12 volt outlet, so bring a car charger to charge your phone. After getting the reservation, we picked up our life jackets and float. They helped us fit the life jacket for each of us. The life jackets were nice and slim fitting, not bulky, so were very comfortable. We dragged our stuff down to the dock area and they led us to our boat. After loading us up, a woman named Timber got in the driver's seat and showed us how to operate the thing. She was also very great and enthusiastic. She also showed us what to do in case the boat didn't start immediately, and how to troubleshoot any issues. She also allowed us to video her showing us this in case we forgot (we are all kinda stupid, so this video came in handy later). We were also provided a business card with an emergency number to call if we had any issues on the lake. The safety/driving lesson lasted about 15 min, then she pulled the boat back into the dock and then guided us in driving the boat back out ourselves from the dock. They didn't start our time until after the safety instruction and Timber got out of the boat, so I thought that was nice. We had from 1-3pm. After getting on the boat, we had a great time. The boat was a little slow (to where tubing behind the boat was more relaxing than thrilling). The boat also had trouble starting a few times. We didn't think much of this, as we did ask for the "shittiest boat they had". We were still having a great time, and at 2:30 we called the main phone number to see if we could extend our time by 2 hours, and they said absolutely. It costed $93 for each hour, so $186 for the two extra hours. The only negative of our experience was that over the course of the day the boat got a bit more janky, and we started having more and more issues getting it to start/run. By 3:45 we were in the middle of the lake and after about 3 tries to start the boat we called the emergency number and explained that the boat wouldn't run for more than 2 minutes or so without stopping and it was difficult to start. They helped us get the boat started again over the phone, and asked if we wanted to switch boats or get a refund for our last hour, and we chose to switch boats. It took about 20 min to get back to the dock and switch boats, and even though it was only 4:15 they extended us to 5:30, so that was nice. I can't remember the name of the guy who helped us then, but he was very helpful with us parking the boat then getting all of our stuff into the new boat. He also apologized for the issues, and said that if we had let them know of the boats speed/starting issues earlier they would've switched our boat out no problem. As I said, this was the only negative aspect of the day, but I don't blame them at all bc we didn't even realize there was an issue with the boat for a long time. Plus their customer service was so nice that it turned it into a plus. The new boat was significantly faster, making tubing much more fun and we all suffered water up our sinuses from our friend wiping us out with ease. We returned the boat a few minutes late as it took us longer than anticipated to park the boat in the dock again, but we weren't penalized for that. After returning the boat and the life vests they had outdoor shower things to rinse off in. Overall, 10/10 experience. Even with the slow boat we had a great time and their customer service made the boat transition very easy. read more

We had a boat reservation, we checked in ahead of schedule since we were forewarned by friends that the wait for checking in and life vests takes forever. Check in 1 hour early, waiting 1 hour past our reservation time, I go and check what is going on. Girl at the front tells me they are prepping the boat. 30 minutes later, go check again, all of a sudden we are told there is an issue. I think this lady was the manager, starts off saying that one of their boats is down and can't be fixed and she's been working on this since 7am. Hello lady! You knew since 7am and you didn't relay this to us when we checked in. Obviously you can't squeeze 6 families into the other boats and expect to stay on schedule. Mind you the weather is well over 100 degrees and we are sitting outside with children waiting with no information. The smart and logical thing to do would have been letting us know when we checked in so we could decide if we wanted to stay or not. She said well we can get you in at 3:00pm....maybe....uh that's 2.5 hours after our reservation time. So we pretty much had to pay for 3 cars to enter Sand Hollow, so out $60 with staff could care less about you or your time. I heard another family going off on them about how they were going to handle balancing 6 families that were reserved for that boat. So pretty much first girl lied to us about boat being prepped to try to buy time. Oh, and come to find out the boat broke the day before when our friends were there. Even better knowing they could have called us before we headed over there to let us know the situation but chose not to. This place needs new management, maybe someone who has the ability to apply logic. So many things wrong with this place and little to nothing redeeming about this rental place. Some more issues I noticed.... 1. Not a single employee wearing a mask. They have social distancing spots on the floor but no one enforces or encourages it. Very few people wearing masks in the rental shop. 2. No organization whatsoever. They have a line for everyone but if management used logic it would probably make sense to have one line for reservations and one for walk ins to make sure reservations stayed on time. Maybe this review will help them increase their efficiency since whoever runs this place obviously lacks those skills. Also for walk ins - why not just post a sign once all walk ins are sold out...so you don't have people waiting for nothing inside the Covid Corral. read more

The equipment was in great shape, and safety was always stressed. They were very flexible with times of the gear being in/out, and accommodating with things we wanted to do. Coming here is worth the drive for us, it's about a 2hr drive but I love the seeing all the scenery whenever I do drive down here! The food is good as well, except this time I think it was a little toooo well or over cooked on the shrimp & onion rings but I do recommend the wraps! Everyone here is so friendly and informative, I did notice that they use the plexiglass inside of the little restaurant but other than that, you don't really see anyone wearing a mask anymore.. not sure if that might just be a Utah thing but in Las Vegas unfortunately we do have to wear masks everywhere we go still so it was a surprise to see that no one really wore a mask over here. Yes, the BASH has a monopoly on rentals at Sand Hollow, and you will pay quite a bit! BUT this is southwestern Utah, where it's 100°+ many days in the summer. Water activities come at a premium as is! We had a great experience with BASH. Our rentals worked great, and they were flexible about them (we swapped out inter tubes halfway through for something new). We had them booked from 12-2, but didn't get out on the water until 12:20, they said keep the stuff til 2:30! Everybody was friendly. Lake was great, warm, clean, and crowded. Despite swimmers itch signs and reports, hundreds of people were in the shallow water playing, and tons of boats were out. Didn't seem like anybody was worried/cared! Coming from out of town, we were nervous to read multiple Yelp reviews threatening swimmers itch, but we were just fine! Can't wait to come back! read more

Besides medical issues (that they of course don't cover), they stick you with multi-thousand dollar bill. They carry zero responsibility for lack of instructions and resulting accident. Came here on 7/26/20 and was blown away when I went inside The Bash to find all workers at least 8 employees not wearing mask !!! Not one customer was wearing a mask either not a single person was practicing social distancing! It was down right disturbing !!! I did stop and ask a young lady behind the counter why isn't anyone wearing a mask ? She said it's only mandated ok what about 6 feet distancing??? And people wonder why the Covid 19 virus is still being passed around and people are still dying and getting sick !!! Beware of $500 charge. Turned jet ski over in a turn. Normal stuff, but jet ski took on water and wouldn't start. Got towed in and charged $500 for engine taking in water with the oil. Contract clearly stated I would be charged, but I wasn't doing anything crazy or stupid. A $139/hr charge turned into a $639 fee. Briefly told us before we went out to flip the jet ski clockwise if it gets turned over but didn't even mention it would take on water and need repair if this happened. Beware. read more

I'd like to extend a heart felt "Thank You" to all the staff at Sand Hollow. I took my son and his family out on 8/1/18. We rented a boat and tube. My son has always been an outdoor guy, loved street bikes, dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, boats and watercraft. My son was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011. After his last surgery (#3) in 2016, he had suffered a stroke and had limited mobility on his right side. The staff was kind enough to assist my son in the boat and when we returned they also helped him out. My son was so happy that day, he had the opportunity to pull all of his children on the tube, his wife and myself included. My son passed on Oct 1, 2018, I'm so glad I have the great memory of us, that day on the lake. Thank you to all your staff. read more

Stay far away from this place as they have the WORST customer service. They claim that they had info on their website pertaining to the Swimmers Itch Bacteria that is pervasive throughout the lake but they did not. They are probably scrambling now to add it once we called them out about it. We found out from several families staying in our hotel who caught it really bad and had these nasty Chicken Pox looking welts all over their legs and arms. We contacted them trying to recoup our money and they down played the severity of the bacteria claiming that the families we spoke to and saw did not take the proper precautions to not get it. This was a false claim as well and we called them out on it. Regardless they rather put folks in danger vice refund your money. They don't care about the customer only that you reserve under them and heaven forbid something happen they at least got your money. Apparently this company used to be good but now locals have said they are only.money hungry and have put policies in place to ensure they have a reason to keep your money without informing you about specific health risks at the lake. A ROCKY START BUT A GREAT FINISH!!! We got a boat for the day the day, to seat and pull our 6 people. When we first got on the boat that my family pre requested, my brother was the first one to be pulled and it was awesome, the boat was doing pretty great. Then my dad (who was driving the boat) realized that the speedometer and most of the gauges were not working and the boat was moving pretty slow. So we took it back in to shore to have it looked at. They looked at it and said that something was wrong and it was going to take some time to fix. Since they did not have another boat for us for that day they gave us 3 jet skis, extended our time, and let us keep the tube for pulling. The staff was so helpful and kind and they really turned a sour day sweet. My family and I have been to Sandhollow before but had never rented water craft. It was awesome to be taken care of even though the day did not start off as planned!!! read more

I can say that my family and I had a great experience renting a boat from The Beach. We rented a Wellcraft for 4 hours (that was enough time for us) as well as a raft to pull behind. The boat was in excellent working condition. As far as customer service goes, I can't complain. We were there on a Monday and the place was not busy. The ladies behind the counter were nice and helpful. The man that was helping us with the boat was also kind and helpful. I wish I remembered their names. Bathrooms were clean. My family of 5 were ready for our boating experience. We brought a lunch and had plenty of water to drink on the boat. I suggest you do the same to make the most out of your rental time. read more

We were a group of 12 people. Showed up 20 min early as requested. They were late opening up. After waiting forever to get on the boat we rented finally we go to the dock. The boat was old and run down. We barely got in a couple of intertube rides and the boat died and engine was smoking and spewing out nasty fumes. We called the dock and they said someone was coming... no one came. The boat had no paddles, no fire extinguisher, radio or anchor. It ended up drifting into the rock damn. We had to call 911. The fire & rescue was there in 3 minutes. One person had to get oxygen from fumes. All our kids had to be checked out due to nausea. Company never sent anyone even after 4 phone calls. Never apologized and could have cared less. NEVER rent from this place... not worth the risk. I'm surprised they haven't been sued. I loved the lake but at the restaurant place took way to long all we wanted to get was some waters and the two girls were taking way too long we waited like 30 min for two water bottles. The lake was so much fun but my sister, her boyfriend and I got rashes because of the water we know for a fact they were not the mosquitos because we got it all over our body. Also when it started getting windy a lot of cotton cane out of the trees so the water started to get dirty. If you don't have any problems with that I do recommend you go it was so much fun and so pretty. read more

When I was in the office renting a paddle board, I assumed I would be renting one of the high-quality paddle boards I could see. I paid my money and walked down to the beach as instructed, where I was assigned to a plastic toy Lifetime brand paddleboard. Yes, the same toy plastic paddle board you can buy for $100 a Walmart or Costco. When I complained about their deception, the employees just shrugged and said I needed to specify next time that I wanted to rent. There are several rental places in St George where you can rent a high quality inflatable SUP for the same price as the toy that this place will give you. First off, I am very surprised by some if the negative reviews. My family and I had an amazing experience! Thanks to all the staff and especially Ethan who took us out on the UTV tour. My kids were a little nervous being their first time but once I convinced them they would like it... they were not disappointed! Ethan assured them and I we would be all good and have a blast. Our group came here as a team building exercise and it was amazing!! Ashley was very helpful and really nice! She was also really helpful as we were getting ready to head out on the side by sides. Connor was amazing when we were out on the ride. Worst customer service ever!! My family and I came to Sand Hallow State beach for the day and rented a Sol Paddle board for $90 cash. As the kids were trying on the Life jackets for the rental they started developing symptoms of Swimmers itch. We had to leave immediately because the kids were in pain and discomfort from the itch. We asked for a refund and denied. We understand it's not the rental shops fault our kids developed swimmers itch, but we had NOT even used the rental item. We called and the rental company pretty much laughed at us as well as BLOCKED any of my comments on Facebook. This is the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE we have ever experienced! Was told food would be 10-15 min. Waited 35 minutes for a burger and fries. Wasn't busy at all. Also cashier clearly DID NOT want to be there. Just bring your own food out here. They're more concerned about their rentals, than making sure they're properly staffed to make a burger in 15 min.
