    Prime rib with steak fries.
    Jan K.

Dining at Digger's Sting is a must for us whenever we are in town, and I'd guess we have been fans for close to 20 years. The interior is warm and intimate, and the servers have always been stellar. This time my husband ordered the prime rib with steak fries, and I had the prime rib & scallops combo with loaded mashed potatoes. The prime rib was cooked a perfect medium rare, plus was well-seasoned and sooooo tender and juicy; my husband loves the accompanying mushrooms so much that I gave him mine as well. I also truly enjoyed the seared scallops. Another amazing night at Digger's, and it was our favorite meal of our 3 day stay!!

The prime rib was cooked really well and the sautéed mushrooms that came on the side were to die for! I also really enjoyed the pre-dinner garlic bread. Overall, great experience!

What a great find downtown LaCrosse. Themed after the classic movie The Sting, Diggers delivers excellent food in an old school steak house vibe. Waitress Maddie was sweet and perfectly attentive. We had a Filet, double sirloin and ribeye. Then argued about whose was better. Sides of au jus and mushrooms paired perfectly with our steaks. Recommend the garlic mashed baby reds. Thanks for a wonderful evening

We sat at the bar and ate dinner. It was amazing. We had a wonderful bartender, Azure. She recommended the scallops with Cajun and the side of Alfredo. My boss had the filet and ribs. So good!! Her martinis were excellent. we chatted the entire evening with Azure and the other wait staff. Great welcoming place. The place had a great dive atmosphere and I 100% recommend going here.

Food 5/5 - The steak was amazing and cooked to order. The fries were a lovely thick cut and paired well with the steak. We cannot forget about the butter bread that comes before the food, to die for! Service/ Ambiance 5/5 - Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful with menu decisions. Steakhouse was an old school vibe and kept clean. Cannot wait to go back and try other menu items.

Absolutely the best ribs in La Crosse (or anywhere). Fantastic garlic toast! The wait staff were great also! I highly recommend it!

Service was prompt, but by the time we were done and leaving, the place was full and hungry customers waiting to get in! Our server was AWESOME! Friendly and attentive but not hovering. Brandy Old Fashion was heavenly and much needed. The French Onion soup was rich and delicious. My ribeye steak was cooked perfect, tender and delicious. The baked potato was perfect. My husband ordered the smaller portion of Lasagna and it was tasty! The place has tons of character! We are so glad we back tracked to this amazing gem!!

I ordered the ribeye since it came with a soup or salad ANNNNDDD potatoes or veggies. I opted for the French onion soup and some veggies. Holy moly, the cheese on that soup is no joke! It was a delicious soup but it did lack in onions (maybe because it was a small bowl that none got scooped up into it?). I ordered my ribeye medium rare and it came a perfect medium rare. The ribeye itself was of the thinner variety so don't expect a thick steakhouse ribeye. It was still really good though especially because it was so much food for under $30! The turtle cheesecake was TO DIE FOR! Ughhhh I'm a sucker for some caramel and chocolate in a cheesecake. I wish I lived here because I would be a regular for sure.

We ended up sitting at the bar instead and our poor bartender was way too busy, while many of her colleagues were chatting, moving really slowly, etc. despite her asking them for help at least 4 times while we were there. Also, someone else helped us with our drinks, and he told us that they don't do samples of tap beers? I've never seen that before but that was incredibly lame, so we didn't get beer. The food was good, but it didn't blow us away. We enjoyed the gig pizza but it was super heavy, actually too much cheese and bedding to freshen it up. Cheese curds were super good ones, though the chimichurri way practically invisible in the aioli and needed much more. We'd give it another shot, but would be cautious in doing so.

I was driving through this time on my way to Chicago and stumbled upon Fork & Fable Crafthouse. Wow. Just wow. From the outside it was pretty unassuming and after walking through the outdoor seating area to go inside to the host stand, we opted to go back out and grab a table outside since it was beautiful. The inside of the restaurant looked a little like a sports bar from what I saw and the outdoor space was small, but had four nice tables with umbrellas. I wish I could remember our server's name because she was one of the managers for the front of house and was so friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. These brussels sprouts were unlike any I have ever had. They were deliciously crispy, like I have had before, but these also came with grapes, candied pecans, whipped feta cheese topped with an olive oil and a hot maple drizzle. The Ahi tuna salad was pretty straightforward, but they elevated it with a seaweed salad on top of the greens and it came with a house made wasabi vinaigrette that packed such a delicious punch. My only regret was coming here for lunch on a road trip so I couldn't indulge on one of their craft cocktails because they sounded amazing. Before I left, I got to chat with the owners and they were great guys. It definitely reinforced the need to support local businesses like this that are doing it well. I appreciated the whole experience and I hope I get an opportunity to come back again soon.
