Kaju pista kofta is very unique and delicious. Loved the Dilli Dilli tikki which is extremely flavorful. Butter chicken was average. Portions are small for the price. Especially tikki is really tiny though delicious. Good ambiance and close to Times Square. Service is fast and efficient. read more

This was an experience and just journey to get to Dilli Dilli - we drove from PA to NY for a 7pm reservation. We left our house at 4:30pm (usually takes us 1.5 hrs to NY) to give us extra time due to holiday season. Needless to say we did not arrive till 8:15pm the Dilli Dilli team was so u see standing and we kept calling them to push our reservation. They were fully booked, but upon our arrival we grabbed seats at the bar and had a ln amazing experience and the food! Sandra at the bar was great! Loved interacting and speaking to her - the service was really great! Food - we ordered 8 dishes between 2 people and cleaned all the plates! The paneer appetizer dish (not pictured) was beyond amazing, melt in your mouth paneer - I could eat it all day! All the food was excellent - we are already planning our next date night here to have the paneer again and try other dishes we didn't. So many things need to be improved. Food: Definitely a hit or miss. The Mutton Chawal, Channa Bhatura, and Pulao were all a miss. The Channa Bhatura was oily and the other two were super average. The Chai Latte was garbage, probably the worst one I've ever had and it was almost $13. To be fair, the veggie smash burger was very good. Service: Slow and inattentive. Each entree came out separately with significant intervals in between. The first two people who got their food were done by the time the last two got theirs. Even the check took 10 minutes after we asked. Ambience: Honestly one of the worst ambiences I've experienced. A DJ was performing and the music was extremely loud. Several parties asked for the music to be turned down and they refused. Who enjoys eating a meal w a speaker blasting a half baked DJ in their ear. The waiters couldn't even hear us order. So my quest to have genuine Indian food is over. I have been searching for Indian flavors for last 20 years in United States, and after endless American tikka masala's and garlic naaans, over the years, I landed up here! Kachori took me to college days, and total street food vibe. And so did Rumali rotis and lacchha prantha. But thing that genuinely took me back home was simple dish like achar. It had flavor of my mom's hand. I refuse to give Indian place 5* because they don't deserve it. This place, dayummmmm. So if you grew in north India, this will take you back home. I went there last Saturday on June 28th and we had a reservation for 8:45 pm. We were given upstairs table for dining. When we went up It was so hot there. The temperature downstairs was very nice but upstairs was very hot. We were with a kid and even after complaining numerous time they didn't do anything helpful. The staff said that we could be seated downstairs but there will be additional wait times. So my concern is even after knowing the condition upstairs how could they allow anyone to be seated upstairs. And when I have my reservation why was I asked to wait. My kid was sweating all the time. We drove from my very far to come to this restaurant and wasn't expecting this treatment. I am disappointed and would definitely never visit this place again. read more

The food here is great, but comes at a premium. I tried the gilfani paneer and the Gupta burger. The paneer was fantastic - smoky, tangy, and spicy, just like the ones I had in Delhi. The burger was also great, with a variety of textures and a sweet and spicy tamarind chutney. The bill came out to over $60, which is quite the splurge. We went here to celebrate a special occasion and it did not disappoint. Let's start with the ambience: the decor, lighting and music is so soothing and well balanced that you'll feel like you're transported to Delhi and sitting in some old moghul darbar. Food: They concept is lovely. They have dishes that are old Delhi recipes like Gilafi paneer and Fateh ki kachori and the ones that are new and nostalgic like Kwality Chana Bhatura and Nirula'd choco fudge. We made our way to Times Square to go to this restaurant with our family. We went with a stroller and they don't have an elevator and they sat us upstairs so that was a little bit of a struggle. However, once we were seated all was good. Service and food were both great. For drinks we got the margarita and also golden hour. Presentation of the drinks were really cool. The golden hour is definitely on the sweeter end so it wasn't my favorite. For food we started with the kachori, okra fritters, and chili cheese toast. I was surprised the kachori was so crispy even with all the chutneys on top! The chili cheese toast was tasty and spicy! I got the marwadi baingan as my main and i enjoyed it! Upscale Indian near Times Square. Ambiance is cozy with plenty of tables and attentive wait staff. The drinks were fantastic with well themed glasses to go with each. The naan was some of the best I've had. Perfectly puffy top half with an almost flaky bottom. The curries themselves were standard. From the butter chicken to dal, the flavors were accurate, but not elevated or crazy enough to split them from the sea of other restaurants. For a date night this is great, if just craving Indian, give some other places a try. read more

Disappointing Brunch Experience -- Would Not Recommend We visited as a party of ten (six adults and four children), with three of us originally from Delhi and familiar with authentic flavors. Unfortunately, the food fell far short of expectations and did not align with what it claims to represent. The experience felt heavily overhyped by social media, with quality and portion sizes failing to justify the premium pricing. We sampled almost the entire brunch menu, yet not a single dish truly impressed. The mutton chawal lacked seasoning and depth, while the biryani was passable at best--frankly, I've had more flavorful rice bowls at casual spots like Inday. The much-touted Andhra fried chicken burger was another miss, offering nothing distinctive; a standard fast-food chain easily does better. The various paratha and vegetarian options were dough-heavy and uninspired, tasting more like plain flour than anything else. Using Delhi names for the dishes might create appeal, but substance and execution simply weren't there. Portion sizes were particularly disappointing. A single dosa was $22, and even our five-year-old needed two to feel satisfied. Desserts were the lowest point of the meal. The jalebi arrived cold, accompanied by a meager drizzle of rabdi (barely 10-20 ml). The "Super Bowl" at $55 was a complete letdown--the fudge was rock-hard and icy, making it nearly inedible. We left half unfinished and raised our concerns; the staff removed the jalebi from the bill but insisted on charging for the Super Bowl. Please don't call it Narula's. It was nowhere close to it. On a positive note, the cocktails were enjoyable--we tried the Spiritz Fizz and Spicy Chai-thini, both of which were well balanced. The masala soda, however, was just average. Overall, this brunch was underwhelming in both authenticity and value. The food seems calibrated more for a generalized American palate rather than reflecting true Delhi flavors. Unless there are significant improvements in both quality and portioning, I struggle to see long-term sustainability for a business relying primarily on social media buzz. A sincere recommendation to the chef: spend some time in Delhi, experience the food firsthand, and bring those authentic flavors to the table. read more

The new Indian restaurants in NYC are trying to do the most. Dilli Dilli had a tight menu that had a lot of care put into it. High quality food- every single thing we ate was tasty. The chicken tikka appetizer was the best chicken tikka i have had. Thoroughly marinated and tender chicken. For mains we had butter chicken, mutton and channa bhature was all a slam dunk. The Aloo Tikki Chaat was a major disappointment--far from crispy, it felt like an undercooked blob of potatoes stuffed with bland dal, drowned in chutneys. The Shami Kebabs were chewy and lacked the depth of garam masala. The Bhature were decent, but the Chole lacked any real flavor. Appalling experience. When we asked for a table that would accommodate a disability, the elderly man at the front made a face and acted like we were being difficult. At an upscale restaurant, the very least you should expect is respect and basic courtesy. Instead, we were met with rudeness and insensitivity that set the tone for the entire evening. Although the food itself was mediocre and underwhelming, most significantly, the treatment like this is unacceptable. Accessibility and dignity are not "special requests." I was waiting to write this review, I have been here 4 times and almost every time I have been here the food has been very consistent and I have been to many restaurants in the city with fusion food and drinks but nothing has come close to this place. For the price, the quantity and quality of food was not great. It was a small quantity of food for a large price, and the quality was not that good in comparison to other restaurants, where we have paid less. There are better places in NYC that are worth much more than this food. I would not come here again, especially for the price I paid for. Also, the music being played was a bold choice, especially knowing that there were kids present in the restaurant. Finally, the service was not that great. We had to wait for our bread after we already received our curry, and the plates we were served had some things still left on it. Food was hit or miss. The Wengers shami kabab was tasty, but not exactly like Wengers - it was closer to galoti kabab than shami kabab. More mushy, less firm. But very tasty. Butter chicken was not butter chicken, it was something else altogether, too much cardamom or honey or something which gave it this weird sweet quality. It was certainly not Pandara Road Butter Chicken- nope. Sarojini nagar fruit chaat was good, but again, not exactly the same. Not enough chaat masala perhaps. Watermelon pieces were not sweet so it was the miss on the classic sweet and salty flavor. Koyala chicken was delicious - similar to chicken malai kabab at Bhatti. Daal Bukhara was good. Something missing though, can't say what- ginger? Also, it's not daal makhani which is an important distinction. Naan and roti was good. And star of the show was the jalebi. Chefs kiss for that one. Ambience was a bit dhinchak like clubby type music bec trying to be modern I think (I don't mind, really, maybe I'm just getting old) but the decor was nice. I would go again, there was a lot of stuff on the menu that is prob worth trying. But def not the butter chicken or daal if you're looking for that classic Delhi flavor. read more
