We have gone to Dillon's a dozen times. This is the 2nd time we had ribs & they were sooo dry they could've been "jerky". My husband picked up 3 slabs, not cheap...$95.00. I'm writing this review as of the last 2 times I've been I've been there. First time, my chicken fried steak wasn't even edible. Burned to a crisp and no meat inside. Just burnt breading. Sides and everything where ok. Second time got the cat fish platter and again my food was burnt. Thinnest piece of catfish I've seen. White gravy was bland and thin ( watery). Please let people know that if the special veggie of the day is green beans that there is onions in them. I couldn't even eat my sides. Left and got a pizza on the way home. read more

I always have my dad pick food up from this restaurant for me after I get off work. The pulled pork platter is my absolute favorite and it is inexpensive. I've never been disrespected so abundantly while going out for a meal. I enjoy this place. The food is great and the service is good to, although yesterday I was followed outside of the restaurant, to be harassed for only leaving a $2 tip. So let's do some math. The women that brings plates from the back to the front gets paid $8 an hour. I gave her $2, so for bringing out a couple plates and checking water levels she earned $10 an hour just for my table. Now you know that she earns plenty of money from the other tips. This woman most likely earns upwards of $15-25 an hour. Now I think that this in unacceptable. An unskilled labor position earning this much money. Minimum wage is $11 an hour, yet she was still livid at the sight of $2!! That's crazy!! Don't come here it's just not worth it, ANY SERVER CAN PUT ON A SMILE AND BRING YOU A PLATES, BUT IS IT WORTH IT FOR THEM TO MAKE $15-25 AN HOUR? No, no it's not. Apparently the good reviews must have come from people who visited the bar before eating their food! I would need to be pretty intoxicated to eat there again. I felt so bad because I brought my mom here for her birthday and they brought her a rare burger after saying she wanted it well done. Any cook should know well done means no pink. Once she saw the pink and then red she lost her appetite and didn't even want a replacement. My plate was barely luke warm and literally looked like it had been nuked in the microwave way before I even ordered it. I was expecting some real bbq food and they bring me meat that is barely warm and two little cups of bbq on the side after I said I want in on the food. I don't really think that would have made a difference though. It doesn't not look like food that is cooked there. The kids meal came with "smiley fries" that literally cost a dollar at Walmart. I will give them credit for having good fried pickles, but that was It. what a waste of $77 bucks. read more

Okay, just finished having dinner at Dillions on 11/19 a Monday night and our experience was disappointing for both the food and the service. The place was packed, and the prices seemed reasonable for the selections - their menu certainly does a good job of getting your expectations up for having at least a good dinner, but maybe even a very good, or if lucky - an exceptional dinner. As we sat there, we realized they just don't have enough people working to manage the volume of customers. Sadly, our service reflected this reality. Well, it was later in the evening, I was real hungry, but I wanted to avoid any gut bomb feelings by gorging myself on meat before bed, so instead of the ribs, brisket or pulled pork, I went for their Angus Burger which looked awesome in the menu photo. Well... that was a teaser photo as the real burger was not as appealing as the photo. I would probably compare their burger very close in delivering a "Wow factor" to your tastebuds as those served at a Denny's many years ago before they modernized their menu. I've had some exceptional burgers at Bobby Q's in Phoenix priced near $15, and at the restaurant called, 13, which is located inside the Marriott Hotel at the Philadelphia Convention Center. At 13, their signature dish is the Sriracha Bacon Cheeseburger priced at $19 and worth every penny - OMGoodness, it was amazing! I went back last week 3 times over a 9 night stay because it was just that good. Funny, I wasn't the only one eating their multiple times a week for the signature burger. So, to be fair, Dillions burger was priced closer to a Denny burger than either of these places where you can get a real "Wow!" experience in a burger for a few dollars more. My son's burger was ordered medium, but came well done (no pink). Mine was ordered medium and came medium well (very little pink). I choose Cheddar over American, or PepperJack. It comes with no sauce, even the buns are toasted but not in much butter, if at all. So, you get ketchup at the table. The meat was a bit dry and upon munching down on it, nothing hit you during the with a thought you might ever order this again - I won't. My other son had a Carolina pulled pork sandwich at Dilions which he thought was okay, but he didn't rave about it. The pulled pork came really saucy which is not typical of any good Q house. For my son, it just doesn't compare to the Westerner sandwich at Dickey's BBQ in Arrowhead where you can get a buttered Texas long toasted roll with heaps of pulled pork, kielbasa, and cheddar cheese. Add some of their coleslaw into this sandwich, and their spicy BBQ sauce and you're almost in Q heaven at Dickey's BBQ! Dillions seem to be making a lot of money at this location, so my review is essentially insignificant. But if you are reading this, then know to avoid Dillions, and go to Bobby Q's instead for a great BBQ experience including a killer burger and the best 4 cheese macaroni & cheese ever! If you want to skip the finer dining experience, then head over to Dickey's for super casual sit-in Q, with a serendipity - free self-serve ice cream cones at the Arrowhead location! To be fair, I will try Dillion's ribs tomorrow to let you know my opinion on this Q! Also, take some of those profits to fix your restaurant. I wish I could rate these guys higher. The atmosphere is fun, but the food is just... blah. With that being said, $2 onion rings are fantastic - but everything else (BBQ Brisket, Turkey, sandwiches of all types) leave a lot to be desired. Buns are soggy, meat is tough and unflavorful, just all together not delicious- not horrible - but not "come back" good either. Worth a try, but you'll probably come to the same conclusion as we did. I have been to Dillon's several times and do love the people. The food seems to be good in general. I did order the Chicken tortilla soup instead of BBQ. One thing about this soup is TORTILLA'S and there is not a one. ??? Also the music in the bar is not right with BBQ....needs some country. Not some soft rock and i heard Boy George today. Have eaten here twice now and both times were delicious. The meat was moist and the pulled pork had that perfect wood smoke flavor. The pulled chicken was great and the burnt ends were good as well. I wasn't too big on the brisket but it was still good. The sauces were great and for sides I can't say enough about the mashed potatoes and the coke slaw is almost the same as KFC. We want to thank ALL the staff (Kyle, waiter)and manager TJ who where the major players serving us today. Our first visit was inspiring. From the first person we met, hostess to the last person, the bus boy. We had a relaxing, enjoyable, great communication, good service and tasteful food visit. What we noticed (no matter where you work) is how everything rolls from the top down. Every employee was relaxed, smiling, helpful(even if it wasn't their table) to make sure all the customers were taken care of. the quality of BBQ has declined as compared to how it was. I ordered a 3meat meal and the the only decently cooked meat was the pulled pork. The spare ribs were overcooked to the point where it was not eatable and the supposed smoked sausage ended up being thrown away. I tried this place on a whim. Had to put dinner together for 10 people in a hurry. The staff was exceptional, they explained tge menu and the best way to be,cost effective,with their options. This place has live music on Friday and Saturday nights! The baby back ribs are amazing!!! I like the seating inside and it has lots of TV's to watch sports. Parking is pretty solid and it's seems upscale compared to other cheap looking places to go in the area. read more

We ordered burnt ends and brisket form Dillons's KC Barbeque via DoorDash last night. Once the order was placed, the restaurant called to tell us they were out of burnt ends. I agreed to substitute smoked turkey. When the order arrived, there was no barbeque sauce included in the order at all. What kind of barbeque place sends out their barbeque without any barbeque sauce whatsoever? So, my husband drove down there, which totally defeated the purpose of having it delivered in the first place and told them of their oversight. There were four employees standing there and not one of them apologized for the mistake or made any attempt to make it right other than handing over a small container of barbeque sauce. Needless to say, we will never be back. By the time my husband returned with the barbeque sauce, everything was cold. Too bad, so sad, never again! There are too many other great restaurants out there that are more worthy of our business. read more

We have been patrons of Dillon's since the day it opened. I admire their patriotism to the hilt. We have recommended them for their Prime Rib for years. It "was" the best in the valley in our opinion. A flavor like no other. Recently, I had had it twice on two different Fridays for lunch. It was not "right". Just a few nights ago we went for dinner. I asked the server about the Prime Rib. I ordered the large cut thinking it may make a difference. Come to find out there were other complaints. Mind you, this has sky rocketed in price. He said if I didn't like it to send it back. That I did. It is like FAKE MEAT. Translucent in color, weird texture and tasteless. We did find out that Dillon's changed their meat distributor for whom they buy from. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Our daughter also had gone to the Dillon's by the zoo. They sent their Prime Rib back as well. That was 3 - 4 weeks ago. WHY did you guys have to ruin a great meal? Sorry to write a bad review, but my recommendation is DO NOT ORDER THE PRIME RIB! Not even sure it's real meat. read more

Come to the Arrowhead location frequently as it is close to my house and on my way home from work. Good lunch stop, gets very busy in the evening. The food is good and well priced for the most part. 4 stars because I find the service slow, and more times than not they seem understaffed. Staff is friendly and all but when I'm on a lunch break it's tricky for me to be patient waiting 15 mins or more for a salad. read more

My wife and I went into Dillon's on 6/13 to pick up a go go order and my gosh! This restaurant is going downhill very quick. None of the employees are wearing face masks. Along with no face masks, 6ft apart? not at all. The previous review states how the booths are sat back-to- back, ridiculous. Doesn't seem as if they're cleaning too much either. As the cases rise higher in Arizona, it will only take one employee getting sick, and Dillon's is gone. I hope the owners know that. It is very clear the owners don't care about their employees or clientele at all!!! I don't care how much I love their food, I will never being returning to Dillon's as they don't care about anyone but their business. I really like the location and ambiance of this bar and restaurant, but found the bar set up a bit wierd. I have eaten there only once and gone for drinks a few times. The bar food we had was pretty yummy and I liked the fact that the crowd wasn't all twenty-somethings. But, I do think they could improve their weekend business with a few changes. When I've stopped in for drinks on the weekend, they have had great sounding bands, but the band members looked like they were standing in a hole or 4 feet tall when performing. It's strange. Some people do get up and dance, but there isn't really a dance floor (or if there is, it didn't look like it from where I sat.). Everyone sat around the bar or at their pub table since there wasn't a good way to just mingle with the other patrons. But my biggest beef is that the band stopped around eleven (and it was the weekend), which seemed way too early to draw in a serious weekend party crowd. I think if Dillon's would rethink their weekend hours, and find a way to include a small dance floor, they might do a booming bar business on the weekend for the over 40 crowd. There really isn't a good place for us to go in the Northwest Valley right now! But maybe they just prefer to be primarily a restaurant which has gotten good reviews from others. I am going to try out their pulled pork next time I stop in...maybe during lunch next time? :-) read more

Being a Kansas native I was excited to try Dillons KC stle BBQ. I grew up eating incredible BBQ, my dad entered many competitions and won most of them. Eventually he opened a successful restaurant. Yes, my expectations are high, but good food shouldn't be an anomaly. As first time customers we were treated to a stack of their famous onion rings. They arrived golden, piping hot, and delicious. We'd struck taste bud gold, or so I thought. My daughter and I ordered the brisket plate with vegetables and coleslaw, my son ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. His plate came looking delicious, bubbling hot Mac and cheese and a good sized, well filled pulled pork sandwich. Being 14, he gulped it down within minutes, his opinion of food is questionable at best. I was disappointed that we weren't given an assortment of sauces at the table but rather had to tell them what we wanted in it and didn't have control over how much or the ability to mix our own. My daughter's and my plates came looking sadly underwhelming. The vegetable was asparagus which was slightly overcooked and the tough end of the stems intact. The seasoning was good, however. The brisket itself was very thinly sliced with what looked like a small smoke ring (which turned out not to be, as there was no discernable taste of smoky flavor). While the meat was tender, it lacked any flavor whatsoever. The coleslaw was also flavorless and had very little dressing. While I'm not a fan of a floating, mushy coleslaw, I do enjoy one with a bright, flavorful dressing. I disliked my meal and didn't eat much of it, said bottomless pit son finished it all. My daughter ate her meal but didn't enjoy it. With tip we spent over $60 - a good chunk of change for what turned out to be so disappointing. I came here last night with my wife because neither of us felt like cooking and we wanted to go somewhere new. I had originally suggested The Pitts Again, however a friend of mine advised me to avoid them and come here instead. I'm glad he did. The atmosphere felt casual, yet upscale. It was very comfortable. We started with the half order of onion rings - these have to be some of the best in the valley. My wife ordered the margarita on special. Normally on the rocks margaritas have a strong taste like they weren't mixed well and are sometimes a bit too warm. In this case it was perfect. I was surprised to see that they had angry orchard on tap so I ordered one of those. She felt like fish and opted for the fish tacos. These were very well priced and very good. The flavor and cook of the fish was perfect. The coleslaw she and I had opted for on the side was also extremely good. I ordered the brisket plate with slaw, a loaded baked potato and opted for the sweet heat sauce. It was divine. The sauce tastes sweet at first and then hits you with it's heat. The flavor is spot on. The potato was cooked perfectly - but how can you screw up a potato? I was surprised with the twist I didn't expect - red onion. It was actually quite good. The brisket itself was very well done and melted in my mouth. It was not dried out at all, just tender and delicious. I am very glad we came here and will definitely be returning. read more

Would love to tell you what I thought of the food but didn't bother waiting around long enough to see. Several "smaller" groups were seated ahead of us, (we had 7 the other groups had 4-5), not a big problem however when we were seated we then waited over 15 minutes for a waiter or waitress to come take our drink order. The final straw was when a group of the exact same size was seated right next to us and a waiter showed up within 2 or 3 minutes. I complained to the manager and she told me that she was sorry but that if I was that upset I should just leave. I took her advice. read more

She greeted us right away and always checked up on us to make sure we had water and were taken care of. She was one of the best servers we have ever had. My husband and I decided to give Dillion's another try after our last visit. We were seated right away and approached by our waitresses immediately. Which was surprising. The dining area was slow but a decent size party in back. Waitress was very attentive! Ordered onion rings, no problem then dinner arrived. My husbands dinner was good he said for the most part he ordered the chicken fried steak. Mine on the other hand was a disaster! I ordered the cod dinner which I always order! There was something in my cottage cheese and my fries were very hard and stale. I asked the waitress for some new sides. She sent the manager over.! This is where the problem is!!! Manager said... oh it's no big deal it's just "probably" potato salad!!! What??? Well I didn't order potato salad!! He said it happens and said he would get me new fries??? Ok so exactly 3 minutes later yes 3! He came back with steaming hot uncooked fries and a scoop of cottage cheese that had a big chunk of coleslaw in the middle of it!!! Which once again he said well it happens we have them right next to each other on the line??? At that point my husband said do you use the same utensil for everything?? First time there I ordered a combo platter with three (3) meats. Brontosaurus Beef Ribs - 1 single Baby Back rib has more meat on it that one of these. Sad, very sad. The brisket was bland. OK, smoke ring, but barely tasted the smoke. How do they do that????? The burnt ends were just OK.Meaty, but bland. DO they wash the smoke off? The mac and cheese was edible, but I think Kraft does a better job and that is gross. Did they not like me and not want me back as a customer? They win, I won't be back. Once again, I find myself wanting to like this place but after reading a few recent reviews I see that my view of this place is shared by several others. Namely, the place looks a little run-down and worn. Granted this place seems to be busy but I agree that the quality of the food was lacking even though we had very good service from our waiter Sam. I had the baby back ribs, my wife had the half-and-half, and my nephew had the pulled pork. My baby back ribs were just ok, and the only sauces they make are a little out of the ordinary, yet tasty. My complaints were in the general quality of the meats, and the tenderness of the meats were lacking. We all commented that the ribs (which should be fall off the bone or at least very tender) were something that required a knife. The sauces, (which I'm used to mild, medium, hot, etc.) were a lineup of sweet-hot, regular and regular flavored with cajun seasoning. This didn't appear to be a good lineup for me as I favor really hot spicy BBQ sauces (and I don't like "sweet"), like the kind Westport BBQ would provide in KC. Additionally, none of us were "wowed" by the side dishes. The potato salad wasn't flavorful, the coleslaw was too mayonaisy, and the baked beans were just so-so. Sam our waiter was very kind and did a nice job of waiting on us but I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. I prefer Bobby Q's so far for this type of fare in the valley. read more
