There's a new waitress with a heavy accent (unknown origin) that could use some polishing. My partner and I went out for a quiet weekend brunch here. We were sat down by a lovely hostess (who also doubled as our waitress). The lady who sat us was an absolute doll. She was friendly, patient and efficient. The annoyance came when the waitress with the accent sat down one of the loudest customers in the booth directly across from ours. Yet there was 3 empty booths behind us, as well as 3 empty booths across from those. Not to mention there was a whole east side of the restaurant that was practically empty. Great. An somewhat empty restaurant and she couldn't space us out??? It got even more annoying because an elderly customer walked in with a cane, and she asked him where he would like to sit. He was clearly shuffling and using the cane to keep up with her. Wouldn't logic tell you to just sit him at the closest available table? In fact, he "joked" with her to just sit him anywhere cuz he'd like to sit asap. As you guessed, no....she did not sit him in the closest available table. She even asked him something along the lines of, "Should I get you a high chair so it will be easier for you to sit?" (Referring to the taller bar-type chairs). Food was great. My server was great. So on the front door before I even get into this place it has a sign stating that they are the best burger 2026 from the restaurant guru. I do not know who the restaurant guru is but man this guy needs to get out a little bit more. So I ordered the mushroom burger with extra crispy fries. I got to see the burger was seriously bland. There was no seasoning although the burger was big and I'll give them that. However, it was just playing ordinary like you put ground beef on a flat top cooked it up and served it up with some vegetables and a bun. The fries were equally bland and had a frozen taste to them. I've been to this place plenty of times for breakfast and it's been really good and I was actually going to have that again until I saw the sign on the door which was like a flashing red alert. When I think of the best burgers in Phoenix I'm thinking the truck box or the original hamburger works or other places like that I'm not thinking about this place. Now a caveat is that there are really a lot of good things on this menu that I have had so one bad meal should not ruin years of having come here for breakfast or fish or prime rib as they have a lot of good stuff here but man they got to work on that whole best hamburger thing or take it down off the door. read more

Fast Eddie's diner is a hidden gem! This was my grandpa's favorite place to eat breakfast, so I was really happy, but also bittersweet, to come back for breakfast this morning. The menu has plenty of offerings, and I decided to go with an omelette. There are several sides to choose from, but I went with the hashbrowns and the toast. Everything came out super quick, and the staff are so friendly and personable! I can't say enough good things about this place. The food is delicious, and comes in really big portions. I will definitely say, though that the prices are a little bit higher than what I remember, which is understandable given the current climate, but be prepared to spend a little extra money. Early 2026 the in-laws heard that this diner had become good again, after a corporation sold the diner to the present owners about 4 years ago. The place is looking clean, bright, and fresh, with the original rock and roll, and classic cars pictures, and '50s vibe. And the owner, Moon (aka Fast Eddie) is personable and has an abundance of good humor. We were the last to leave at closing time after having great meals of Waffles with Strawberry topping and an egg, a Short Stack of Pancakes with sausage, and a Mexican Omelette with pancakes. And lots of coffee. Sorry, no pics the in-laws don't like me taking pics of the food ;o) lol. We had a Great chat with Fast Eddie and learned about how his present-day restaurant came to be. Service depends on who you get. The best server is the gentleman. He is the nicest. Atmosphere can be great but can also be very down. Food also depends on who the cook is. Today my husband got the chicken noodle soup and it tasted burnt. The waitress switched it out for corn chowder and that tasted like cheese sauce. The specials on the board does not mean cheaper. We decided to head over from Surprise to get so breakfast. We like to look for a local spot and after passing a few spots that were ridiculously busy we found Fast Eddie's Diner. I was surprised to see it pretty empty. We were greeted right away and I loved the old school music playing. Vibe is a bit Sun City breakfast vibe to me with a flair of diner. Booths were comfortable and I loved that they had their condiments up off the table and screwed a bit higher up on the wall so a family can actually fit all their food comfortably. Our waitress was great and we had our food in no time. I ordered the bacon and eggs with pancakes and a side of sourdough toast. We also ordered the bog breakfast I can't remember what it was called specially but came with sausage, three eggs, hash browns and a side of gravy for the biscuits. Everything came out so fast. Hash browns were cooked great and a crispy top. Toast was good and bacon crisp. The pancakes were amazing! Fluffy, sweet and oh so good. They made my entire meal. Prices were fair and food good. When I was checking this place out on Yelp, I got the impression it's a scratch made kitchen. It's not. It's your typical Sysco Foods breakfast joint. I always check to see if they make their own chicken fried steak because, if they do, that's what I'm going to have. I asked the waitress if they make their own, or if it's frozen. Being new, she didn't know and said she'd have to ask the kitchen. The answer they gave her was 'it's fresh'. I kind of gave her a 'what the hell does that mean' look and thanked her for checking. A short time later she came over, said she talked to a waitress that has been there a long time, and she said it's frozen. I went with the Nicholson omelette, O'Brien potatoes (for $2 more), and sourdough toast with extra butter. When the food arrived, instead of diced O'Brien potatoes, they were shredded hashbrowns, with cheese, onions, and peppers. When I asked her not to charge me the $2 extra for the diced O'Brien potatoes I ordered, she said the cheese, onions, and peppers are what makes them 'O'Brien'. Not where I come from or any picture or description of the dish on the internet! The toast was dry and you have to butter it yourself. If I wanted to make my own food, I'd stay home. The omelette was okay. I'd give it 2.5 stars. Everything else, 1 star. The loud 50's music is obnoxious (surprise - this is a theme restaurant). Wow, a phoenix landmark here! There's nothing like the comfort of diner food, but the retro aesthetics of this diner makes us feel as though we're rockin' in 1950s. You could tell this place has some history, there was a photo of Jay Leno who visited the restaurant and hundred photos of old classic cars decorating the walls. Crinkly fries, chicken fried steak, and a milkshake, definitely hit the spot. The chicken fried steak was huge and the strawberry milkshake tasted fresh and not artificial .
