Jin Ding Restaurant is a treasure!…read more Jin Ding restaurant is located at the intersection of Haverford Road and Conestoga Road in Bryn Mawr. In an area with several good Chinese restaurants, it makes its own unique contribution. The interior has been redone and refreshed. There is a large dining area both with booths and tables. They also have rooms for larger gatherings, with a varied catering menu available. There is more than sufficient on-site parking, which is important for a Bryn Mawr restaurant. Service is prompt and pleasant. The restaurant offers a great range of choices. When I went there this weekend, our party started with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, which was a wonderful accompaniment to the vegetable spring rolls and dumplings which the other diners ordered. I got the minced chicken and corn soup. I had never had it before because I shied away from any soup that included cream in it. I must tell you that there was only enough in it to give the soup a heft it would not have otherwise had. As for entrees, my wife loved her crispy sesame shrimp, and I tried-for the first time- the eggplant with garlic sauce, Chinese eggplant, in my opinion, tastes different from other eggplant dishes because it is not fried and instead is bathed in the special sauce of Jin Ding. The desserts looked wonderful, but none of us had room for the desserts. The restaurant is located on the site of a previous Chinese restaurant which, at one time, was prominent not only for excellence, but also for its innovative approaches to Chinese cuisine. For various reasons, it closed. While it may sound strange to say, I truly believe that people did not begin to go to the new restaurant only because it would have felt like violating the gravesite of the previous business. Fortunately, that feeling. seems now to have ended. Jin Ding has delivered a quality dining experience every time I have gone there over several years. I commend it to you.

Waiter seated us with our friends and took our drink orders. As soon as last person arrived we placed our orders and everything started to come out within 10 minutes steaming hot. So I am visiting from out of town, and I'm staying nearby. When I was preparing to come on this…read moretrip, I checked things out beforehand because I knew that I would be eating out. This place immediately came to mind after I read the reviews, and I ordered takeout tonight. I am very pleased to say that this was an amazing experience! I opted to do fairly simple dim sum, mainly because a restaurant that has "dim sum" in its name should shine in this category. I was able to place my order online, and had the scallion pancake, the pork, soup, dumplings, the chicken and shiitake dumplings, and the shrimp shu mai. The order was prepared, extremely fast, but very attentively. The packaging was thoughtful and protective, without being wasteful. They included a small container of delicious black vinegar/soy for dipping, and some chopsticks. All of the dishes were fantastic! My favorite was probably the shrimp dumplings, and I was happy that it was two for one night. Everything tasted very fresh and well-made. The seasoning was spot on, without being overly salty. My only regret was that after going to pick these up, I noted that the inside of the establishment appeared to be quite quaint and comfortable, and would definitely recommend that people check this place out for dine in options. The staff were very friendly, and made the pick up experience a positive one. So, if you're in the area and really want to have some dim sum, I would definitely recommend this place. I will most definitely be back in the future!!

Conversations don't get swallowed by noise; you can hear each other without shouting. Menus can sprawl, but this one has range without chaos: plenty to explore, clearly laid out, and a mocktail section that feels thoughtful rather than sugary. Prices are kind to the wallet given the portion sizes. My must-order lineup starts with the scallion pancakes--the clear headliner. The shrimp lo mein is comfort done right: soft, chewy noodles, well-seared shrimp, and a sauce that coats rather than drowns. And a new favorite is the egg custard--silky and softly set, lightly sweet.

I'm giving it four stars because I will return for very specific things, it really is more of a 3…read moreto 3 1/2 star. Very inconsistent. The upside is that it was inexpensive, which is what drew me there in the first place. My very first time eating there in March 2026. I'll start with the good: the Hong Kong wonton soup, the egg drop soup, & the beef chow fun. I would return for these items. The bad: the duck rolls, the shrimp with lobster sauce. The duck rolls, I took one bite, and that was enough. The duck was dry, it didn't have good flavor, I'm not sure if it was particularly fresh. It tasted like it could be the duck that's about to be shrink. The shrimp in lobster sauce was the worst I've ever had. Absolutely no taste. I do not use condiments and I had to put soy sauce in it. I have hypertension, I do not use soy sauce! I had to use it to choke it down. That was the most expensive dish and almost $17 so no way that was being wasted. And there was barely any shrimp in it. The ugly: The egg roll & crispy fried noodles. The oil must be very old. The egg roll was so dark and soft with oil that the oil was dripping off of it and filling the little wax paper bag. The noodles were also too dark and tasted gross like being fried and old oil. I would never get anything fried from this place ever.
