I was able to place my order online, and had the scallion pancake, the pork, soup, dumplings, the chicken and shiitake dumplings, and the shrimp shu mai. The order was prepared, extremely fast, but very attentively. The packaging was thoughtful and protective, without being wasteful. They included a small container of delicious black vinegar/soy for dipping, and some chopsticks. All of the dishes were fantastic! My favorite was probably the shrimp dumplings, and I was happy that it was two for one night. Everything tasted very fresh and well-made. The seasoning was spot on, without being overly salty. My only regret was that after going to pick these up, I noted that the inside of the establishment appeared to be quite quaint and comfortable, and would definitely recommend that people check this place out for dine in options. We went for lunch. They had a lunch menu with many options for $15 each . Our waiters were super cute and I love a drink that is strong enough not to taste like juice. We found parking on the street a block away it was perfect. Their service was fast. Their food came out fast and tasty my favorite was general tsos chicken and my lychee martini loved the plants and the ambience. If I had one complain would be the hostess. Wanted dim sum but didn't want to drive all the way downtown to Chinatown. The restaurant is on the second floor, but there is an elevator if you can't or don't want to take the stairs. We were seated in a booth and although the ambient noise was loud, it was still easy to hear my dining companions. Everything we ate was delicious. We got the sesame soy brussels at the recommendation of another yelp review and they did not disappoint- they were crispy but not charred tasting and so flavorful. The tofu in black bean sauce was very tasty although difficult to eat neatly so would avoid if you are on a first date or business meal. The shrimp siu mai were gigantic and the shrimp tasted very fresh and with minimal filler involved. The highlight for me though was the beef filled scallion pancake- it was the perfect amount of...well...everything. If we hadn't had so much food already, I probably would have ordered another one! My one regret is that they didn't have the sesame balls filled with red bean paste or the baked bbq pork bun. I don't get out for dim sum often and would have liked these standards. We ordered a lot (I didn't even get photos of everything because we were starving, so the photos are just a fraction of everything we ate), and literally everything was good. There isn't really anything that I would say I hated. It was just good food. What brought this up to 5 stars for me were two dishes: the shrimp and chive dumplings and the turnip cakes. These shrimp and chive dumplings... first of all, it was a banging combination. I'm obsessed with chives. Second of all, it came out fried and crispy, which elevated it. As I'm about to write about the turnip cakes, I'm realizing that I'm about to say the same thing about them as I did for the dumplings. This turnip cake was SO GOOD because it was deep fried. The cake itself also melted in your mouth, and the dish itself came with a lot of individual cakes so it was simply good value for the amount of food you got. I came here with a party of 6 around 7pm without a reservation on Wednesday and they did a marvelous job seating us quickly a nice table. Our server, Tyreese, was very prompt and knowledgeable about the menu when we had questions. He made sure all of us were taken care of and did a fantastic job. There is a great ambiance and the restaurant is in a great location. The only difficult thing was that we got one physical menu and the rest of us had to scan the QR code-- which we are used to post-2020, but the site it brings you to has the menu items without prices! We had to cross reference with the physical menu to budget accordingly. I grew up in the east coast, but now live in the Midwest and so good dim sum can be really difficult to find. Unlike some more traditional places where they walk around with carts and you ask them to give it to your table, this follows more the modern American restaurant version of ordering on a paper and them bringing it out to you. The prices were all very reasonable for dim sum which was great so we got to try a variety of things. We ordered the spare ribs, crab and pork soup dumplings, spicy soup dumplings, and the roast pork buns. The highlights for me were definitely the soup dumplings. The crab and pork was delicious, with a milder flavor but one where you could still taste both of the main flavors quite prominently. The spicy pork were awesome and pretty spicy so definitely beware if spice is not your friend. The ribs were tender and flavorful and really good. I'm glad to update and say Dim Sum House survived the pandemic and we surely ordered take-out from them a LOT in the last 3 years. My husband and I went in person yesterday for the first time in a long time. No major updates on food - everything is still solid and consistent. However, I do miss their previous chili sauce they served for condiments with dim sum. They now have chili oil, soy sauce and dumpling sauce but I really miss the chili sauce that had actual pepper flakes in them instead of just the oil. Service was solid. I loved our first bartender, he was so passionate and lively - he even recommended the cocktails with such fervor, I quote " we are the ONLY establishment that you can find these cocktails!" Our second bartender was friendly, but less personable than the first. The price remains on the higher end for dim sum, but personally I'm glad not to take the hike to China Gourmet or even Chinatown when I'm ultra lazy, so I can justify their price for the location with their quality of food. It's always fun scoping out a new restaurant when you're passing through the hood. I was coming down on Chestnut from the west side of the city and my honey was looking up best foods in the area on Yelp and Dum Sun house by Jane G's came up with stellar reviews and luck would have it, found parking around the corner, and they're still following Covid related precautions and they had a table for us. We were greeted table was cleaned we were shown to our table provided with paper menu and our server Julia came over to greet us and help us get started. Upon reviewing the menu and actually use the QR code to check out the larger restaurant menu we got a plan of action in place and start off by ordering the shrimp shumai oh my goodness they were so tasty had a really nice texture so we knew we were off to a good start and we decided to slow down the tempo a little enjoy since it was early afternoon. Next we asked to have brought out the Pork soup dumplings, it was very interesting that each dumpling is served in a small round tin while in the steamer basket. Have never seen that before, usually on some sort of wax paper in the steamer basket but nonetheless my goodness they were tasty with a nice little shot of broth as soon as we punctured it with our chopsticks. Next we ordered the soy brussels sprouts and the beef scallion pancakes at this point my wife decided it was time for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I'm definitely enjoy the brussels sprouts and a nice deep grill look to them of the sauce that they were engaged a nice Tangy flavor. Not exactly my wife's favorite, but quite frankly I thought they were very good and I finished it. The surprise of the meal was definitely the beef scallion pancakes had no idea what to expect and boy were they moist and a great flavor sauce was on them the pancake was more like a wrap if you will and again he was licking our fingers after every bite. To close out our awesome experience we ordered the egg tart and they had to be made fresh and takes a little while so since the place was empty and they had a pool table on the floor my wife and I decided to go break a set and pay a round. we returned to our table to enjoy our egg tart desserts.
