To preface this, I live near San Jose which has extensive dim sum options. However I was visiting extended family in Salinas and they suggested this place for lunch/brunch. We went on a weekday, which I assume is why the place was not very busy. They had an adequate menu selection but each place was over $5--definitsly more than what I was used to. Thus, we ordered one dim sum dish each and also ordered one lunch dish each. DIM SUM: Pork rice noodle (flat noodles): can't go wrong with this option in general, but really nothing amazing about this location's. Sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste (I prefer more soy sauce than sugar flavor) Egg paste mochi (mochi with a custard-like filling): good! Larger than your average dim sum order. Fresh, soft, had some coconut on the outside which added a nice subtle flavor (this is coming from a person who hates coconut in general). Would order again. Stuffed eggplant: large pieces, well cooked with a slight crispy exterior. Have had many bad versions of this dish elsewhere. Was very pleasantly surprised! REGULAR DISHES: Eggplant chicken from the lunch special menu: obviously you can tell I like eggplant. Not the worst dish but definitely on the salty side. I think the eggplants actually watered down the overly salty sauce (thank goodness). My mom ordered the mushroom chicken (I believe) and it was beyond salty! Felt like half a container of salt was poured into the dish. Didn't help that she ordered brown rice instead of white rice, and it was a bit undercooked. Would not order again. Another dish ordered was one of the soups (unfortunately cannot remember which. It had a fair amount of vegetables and rice noodles. The broth itself was a bit bland but it wasn't the worst option. Overall the dim sum dishes are definitely worth trying. 4 stars for quality and 3-3.5 for the price. The regular dishes we tried are not really great and I would not come back for them (even though you get a decent portion for the price you pay). Way too much salt in the stir frys--would give 2 stars for those I tried. read more

We were at a doctor's appt and after all the long waiting we got so hungry afterwards so decided to give this place a try since it was close-by. Everything we ordered was delicious. All the dim sums were so fresh & my favorite was egg paste Mochi today. We had a great lunch date, loved everything. I'll definitely come back again since it's only about 30mins from home. read more

Best DimSum restaurant for sure!! We ordered four plates of various dim sum and they all tasted super fresh, filled with meat and delicious!! We also ordered wonton soup and the portion were great!! The staff was super friendly! I was greeted and told I could pick where I would like to sit which was awesome! While we were eating we got checked up on and she even brought us napkins without us asking. The restaurant was sparking shiny! The bathrooms were both clean and stocked up. This place doesn't look like much, it looks like a little hole in the wall, but the food is pretty tasty! Always comes out piping hot and fresh that past 2 times we ordered takeout and the order has been exact with all the necessary condiments. Food was okay. I've had a lot of dim sum, and this wasn't as good compared to what I've had in San Jose and seemed way more pricey. What really made me want to leave a review was the service. Our server barely acknowledged us after we placed our order. My husband ordered a beer and it wasn't brought to us until we asked. This was after his water glass had been empty for 15-20 minutes. We also were missing a dish, but just asked for it to be taken off our bill. To top it off, my husband felt sick all day the next day. Super disappointing. read more

I came to Salinas for some supposedly good dim sum but was hugely disappointed. I have eaten at Mayflower and Koi Palace in Milpitas. My usual order is Shu Mai, Hacao, Fried Shrimp Balls, and Hot and Sour soup. If a dim sum spot is not able to hit the mark on those staples, I will most likely never return. Sad to say, the flavors were not there. It was also a very pricey meal. Almost 1-2 bucks more per order than places in San Jose. If you are going to charge 5.74 per dim sum order, you best make sure these are the best dumplings in a 30 mile radius. A better made-to-order place is King Egg Roll in Gilroy, imo. Good food and good service. I've been looking for a dim sum spot ever since moving from Bay Area Sunnyvale. You know Sunnyvale has great dim sum place and Dim Sum in can compare. What a great find! Based in Monterey for the week and were considering driving into SF for dim sum. We decided to try this first and so glad we did. So good we returned for lunch two days in a row. The place is clean and spacious. We got quick and friendly service. Our favorite dishes were pork belly bao, stuffed jalapeños, shrimp and chive dumplings, and the almond ball. Not super crazy about this place. I ordered the lunch special and the bbq pork as an appetizer. The bbq pork is really thick, not thin like most places. I ordered the dim sum lunch, my "fried rice" was not fried at all, it looks like rice with vegetables and a splash of soy sauce. My egg roll was cold. I wasn't very impressed with the food overall. Really good dim sum in Salinas! We have been here three times in the past few months, once we were able to dine in (limited and safely) and twice we ordered to go. We do not live in the area, but have ended up going a bit out of our way during our visits to the Coast. Very nice folks here and we really enjoy the food. Standouts: green onion pancakes, roasted duck, Szechwan wontons in sauce, fried pork dumplings, har gao, and the obligatory sesame balls. I hope Salinas continues to support this business, living in an area without good dim sum can be rough. read more

This food is amazing. The shrimp buns are AWESOME, especially with some spicy mustard. And the szechuan wonton are TO DIE FOR!! The sauce is JUST WOW! The zucchini in the walnut shrimp is SO GOOD. This is a win for sure, even during COVID. I will definitely be back. read more

I am regular customer in this place either take out, deliver or dine in. But I got a very terrible experience with the Manager upon discussing my food concerns in regards to my orders. I called to addressed the outcome of my orders since it's not the same the way it was cooked before. Too much soy sauce on the fried rice which make it too salty. The 2 entrees were cooked different as well. I can tell that it's not the same since I've always ordered those items on their food menu. The Manager who took my call was so defensive & arrogant rude to me instead of listening to my concerns. He yelled and telling me that he's the one who cooked my order & there's nothing wrong. I will not call if there's no concerns on our order. Even my coworker noticed that there's something different in our order. I told him that he don't need to raised his voice & don't need to get mad about addressing my concerns. And I am not after for free food or credits. Instead HE TOLD ME THAT HE WILL NOT TAKE MY ORDER ANYMORE REPEATEDLY. (SCREAMING) What a dismay hearing this words from a person operating a business. I finally got around to going into this place, after doing a bunch of takeout. First thing first I ordered a Thai Tea and it was the biggest Thai I've ever purchased!. Usually when I get a Thai Tea at restaurants they are small and I finish it before my order arrives, I had leftover Thai Tea even after I ate my meal. The service was excellent I didn't even ask for a kids drink but a gentleman came over and gave us one, and also gave us extra napkins without asking. I ordered the crab fried rice, the lamb with string beans, and sweet basil chicken, all the orders were delicious and fresh, I love the lamb here so I recommend that for anyone coming here. The chicken was also delicious, crab was cooked perfect for the fried rice my favorite dish here would be the fried rice. Anybody looking for some good Asian cuisine or dim sum come here!. Holy shirtballs! So good. Everything was a party in my mouth. We ordered 12 or 13 items and had one small go box.. the 3 items that made it home were even delicious cold, the next day. Awesome....I have been waiting for month for this place to open, the first time I saw that work permit in the window. It's finally open and it was worth it. The dim sum is made fresh and very tasty. The Shanghai style port dumplings (aka soup dumplings) were juicy and satisfying. Of course, could not pass up some of my favorites: Shrimp Dumplings, pork and shrimp dumplings, and rice noodle roll. My guest and I tried the taro and chicken dumplings, which were tasty with a little bit of sriracha. They also have on the menu, BBQ pork or chicken buns, as well as noodle dishes and soup. As for beverages: sodas, tea, beer, wine, and sake, however really tea is the way to really enjoy dim sum. Overall, the food is excellent and satisfying. There are three TV's so you can watch game. The real kicker here, is that his place is the same owners of Eagle Restaurant in Oldtown Salinas. Make sure you say "Hi" to Sam. He will be around to get this place off the ground. The shanghai dumpling had thick skin and tasted like they were supermarket prepackaged frozen dumplings and not fresh at all. Crispy noodles didnt have a good taste. Fried rice with salted fish and chicken is recommended and had great taste. All other dimsums were "sub par". Probably best in salinas or area south of gilroy. Try to go to san jose area even if you have to drive further to get a better taste food. read more

I think it is safe to say that this is the worst dim sum I have ever eaten. The roasted duck was half bone, the fried rice was incredibly dry, and the dim sum dishes tasted like they were just reheated frozen foods (the egg rolls were straight up cold). The classic dim sum dishes just don't taste the way one might expect. The steam buns look fine but the flavors are off. The Shanghai dumplings have thicker than expected skin and the stuffing tasted mildly of old meat - we didn't finish it. The vegetable dishes are not portioned for 2, maybe 4 people instead so if there are just two of you, be prepared to eat a lot of veggies with a single order or maybe take leftovers home. The service is prompt and friendly though. Dining spaces are very spacious and the booths are comfortable. Wonderful ambiance (they even have large TVs with sports on) but sadly, the food is not good. In fact, it's just bad. Can't come back because the food just tastes off. Pleasantly surprised. I grew up with delicate, Hong Kong-style Dimsum in Asia and have eaten it in the best places all over the world. I try to hit Dimsum places in every American city I land because we don't have it in the part of Central Coast where I am now. Absolutely impressed with everything I got here. The har kao, fried shrimp balls, siu Mai were delicious, not overly greasy and had great texture, better than the best fast-dimsum SF places I've tried. The mochi cake was unique and delicious. The char siu pau was good though bun could be softer. 5 stars for bringing decent quality Dimsum to a part of California that is not known for authentic Chinese food.
