My partner and I enjoyed the experience so much that we returned the next day to try the black truffle shrimp dumpling, expecting a rich truffle flavor. In my opinion, at least for hargow, shumai and cheung fun, most dimsum places offer more or less same taste profile. Or maybe I am not sophisticated. A deciding factor is the temperature of the food served. I have been to several places that disappointed me with cold dumplings. Tried this place several times and all dimsums we ordered were served in right temperature (albeit plastics containers and minus one star). I got the soy sauce chicken over rice dish for $13 after tax. Price wise, it's what you would expect outside of Chinatown so this is not an issue. The chicken is what you would expect if you go anywhere else, but the way they complimented with Chinese vegetables, half egg, and pickled vegetables are nice touches. The place is new, very clean, and brightly lit. The open kitchen is pretty impressive. The shrimp wonton soup came with five plump juicy dumplings - and a nicely seasoned broth. So far so good. Pork siu mai were juicy and flavorful, I added some of the hot oil from the condiments bar. An order of roast duck was a little disappointing, Not a lot of meat on our portion. I might try to order a full half duck next time to make sure I receive the meaty part of the breast. Har gow, another winner, fresh, delicate. Just a little soy sauce for these. Xlbs were more soupy than I expected given the reviews. I could have used a larger spoon, and the proper dipping sauce with ginger. The skins were thicker than usual, but that makes them portable if you are taking them to go. These jawns ain't going to replace Nan Xiang, but they are good enough. The steamed rice roll with minced beef didn't earn any fans - the three rolls were too heavy, and I have been spoiled by the new places in Flushing that grind their own rice flour. Finally, a roast pork bun - the outside crispy tasty, just the right amount of filling inside, slightly sweet.
