Lo and behold, my cravings for dim sum kicked in again! And instead of trekking all the way to Gramercy we decided to go to the Times Square location to check out the ambiance. It was exactly the same, no difference. Same decor, still self serve, where you order at a computer then pickup the food in trays. This time, we ordered more than what I can actually eat. And on top of it there were a number of dumplings that was a buy 1, get 1 free. So of course I had to take advantage of that discount! I got the shumai. We also ordered xiao long bao, chicken feet, shrimp rolls, roast pork buns, fried eggplant, chives and shrimp steamed dumplings. Hubby loved the chives and shrimp dumplings. My fav was the chicken feet. Could've skipped the xiao long bao, this is definitely not the place for this! Overall still loved the quality of the dim sum options. Will absolutely return!

If you are looking for a really solid dim sum place in Times Square area, I'd recommend this place!! I was happily surprised with the fair pricing and portions of everything. The shumai was BOGO free this day and they were so yummy and juicy! We got all of the other classics and everything tasted great. I highly recommend their baked pork buns, I loveee the bread it comes in. I would definitely come back to have more of their dishes! You order at a kiosk and food comes out pretty fast. The ambiance is fast casual so if you're looking for somewhere quick and tasty this is the place!

The food is slightly below average here and all pretty bland. You self order from a computer screen and then it takes quite a while before the food comes out. Also just as a side note - no real data connection in case you're taking a quick food break here from work and need to be on email.

Self service dim sum place near Port Authority, NY We stumbled at this place on the way to the Lincoln Center. The interior was very modern and bright. You will order the food thru the kiosk and pay with cashier. We ordered awesome dim sum combo for $18+tax. The buzzer went on after 10 minutes and went to pick up the food. The combo came with 2 har gow, 2 siu Mai, 1 sticky rice wrap, bbq pork bun and crispy shrimp. All tasted good and it was nice to taste mushroom, chicken and sausage in the sticky rice. I would like to come back to try other dim sum and combo meals!

Good dimsum place but it's very hot inside. It's self service. Kiosk order then pay at the cashier. All the take out boxes and utensils are for grab. Food has good flavor. I like all the items that we ordered. Some of them are smaller portion than I thought. Tap water or you can order bottle drinks.

Please don't come the steamer basket is so overly used and potentially has the mold. The meat is sour.

Some of are frozen food. Not fresh and steamer basket is extremely old. The vegetables is undercooked. I don't have appetite.

The worst dimsum I have ever had. Thought we would give it a try given the strong overall rating on yelp but preety shocked to see the actual quality. All the dishes had no flavor and just tasted extremely salty - and I normally like salty. Also super overpriced for dimsum even for nyc standards

I decided to give this place a try today and got delivery. I usually try to avoid Asian restaurants that are close to Times Square since I'm afraid of inauthenticity. I was perusing their menu and saw some OG dim sum items that I don't really see around these parts. The one that stood out the most was the fried taro shrimp patty. Not only is it old school, most dim sum places don't even make them anymore. It's one of my all time faves, so I was sold. I ordered: Chicken Ball Congee - 4/5 good flavor and consistency, albeit it could be slightly thicker. The chicken balls were flavorful and succulent Fried Taro Shrimp Patty - 3.5/5 a bit bland, needs more seasoning. Well made otherwise Roast Pork & Cilantro Rice Roll - 2/5 really underwhelming. Completely lacks flavor even with the sauce and hardly any cilantro inside. Noodle texture was too soft Kid's Meal - 3/5 great way to taste more items without ordering them individually. Comes with a spring roll, roast pork puff, egg tart, and bun. I only enjoyed the egg tart and roast pork puff from this. The other two items were meh Overall, decent. Definitely room for improvement. Also, they should def be stapling the bag for delivery.

Okay, I'm giving it three stars because the food is just really underwhelming. I got their house dumplings and their bbq pork bun. The dumplings are served with a soggy and extremely thin wrapper, and the buns, though the topping was good, tasted very stale. The bread was just really hard. That being said, the interior of Awesum Dimsum is really bright, it's a great place to catch up with friends, and the food comes out fast. You order on a screen and probably less than 10 mins later, you'll have your food. So even though you don't have the classic dimsum carts, you at least have the speed, and to know that a place like this exists near Port Authority is a GAME changer. Like, if you ever need a quick bite, you know it's here. So I appreciate it for what it is-- just don't expect the greatest dimsum in the world and it'll all be good.

Fast service, clean ambiance, counter ordering. This is a solid neighborhood dim sum chain where I can get my fix without having to go very far. Yes at first these new slew of dim sum chains made me do a double take though was not surprising. I do miss classic banquet trolley style dim sum, but at least there's awesum dim sum and dim sum Sam right by each other if I want to stop in for breakfast. I respect the 8am opening time and they are ready to go! Love the delicate fried shrimp rolls, they have a healthy selection of rice noodle rolls and their har gaw dumpling skin is especially thin without falling apart. Their congees are great and super savory, I do not miss the white pepper which usually is a must for me to the point I bring my own. Their condiment selection is... fine. Not really but there are enough basics to get through. (I'm a glutton for condiments). One fall back is they do not have any noodle soups but their fried dim sum selection (I prefer steamed normally) is actually pretty delicious and they have a wide variety. This is a frequent weekend breakfast spot for me, and based on location and consistency of the food it's a thumbs up for me.

Taste is absolutely delicious. Price is very reasonable for the portion. This is more like a fast food restaurant style where you order at the counter and bus your own table. They have a lot of varieties and all taste amazing! Definitely will come back!!

I definitely expected more because it had good reviews, but I found the soup dumplings to be good but not great. I didn't like they were served in foil trays- never had seen that before and they broke trying to get them out. The service was great , but pretty much you order yourself on a screen. The restaurant has a trendy and cool vibe with plenty of seating.

This place is great! AweSum DimSum is a small, fast dim sum spot right near Port Authority. Not only are the food and selection pretty good but the format is convenient for a quick meal either by yourself or with a few friends. The restaurant has a bunch of booths and tables and can probably accommodate one larger party in the middle table. There's no table service--Instead you order at a kiosk and then pick up food at the cashier. It's fast and straightforward. Will definitely come back!

Our favorites of the night were the salt and pepper chicken with scallion biscuits (jam was amazing, and the chicken was moist and fried perfectly), the walnut shrimp (super juicy and well-cooked, not too over-sauced), the pot stickers, and the cold sesame noodles which had great chew and a lovely, creamy sauce. The crudo was pretty small and nothing to write home about, and the eggplant and tofu curry were a bit under-seasoned for me. The bowls of rice we got to eat with the side dishes were also pretty mushy, as if the rice hadn't been properly rinsed before it was cooked, which was disappointing at $3 a bowl. Room for improvement! Still definitely a spot I'll recommend to friends looking for interesting takes on Chinese food! Service was attentive and smooth throughout the night, and we got some good suggestions on serving sizes for the group. Left stuffed and satisfied!

I ordered in some rice rolls and the soy sauce chicken with rice dish. The rice rolls were minuscule and the shrimp ones not fully deveined. The real problem was the soy sauce chicken. Friend of mine is a little more familiar with the cuisine so I entrusted our order to her and we got the following: Crystal shrimp dumpling (5/5): now this is saying something because I'm not the biggest fan of shrimp, but these dumplings were so juicy and savory, without having the heaviness or doughiness of other dumplings Pan fried turnip cake with pork (3.5/5): personally not my cup of tea, but my friend loves turnip cake and I was down to give it a try. It's also very savory/umami-y, goes well with the dipping sauces, and I'd say the texture is on the thicker side - I'm not quite sure how to describe the taste, but overall an interesting experience. Chicken chow-fun (4.5/5): I love this wide (rice?) noodle that they use, reminds me of pad see ew with the hints of soy but with chicken. It also had bean sprouts (or mung beans? one of the two), green onions (or scallions? gah I get so confused), and onions. I'm a glutton for vegetables, so I wish it had more variety of veggies but nonetheless still really enjoyed this dish and would definitely get it again!
