For those unfamiliar,…read morethere's an unspoken belief that if a Chinese restaurant has 3 stars on yelp, they have amazing food and substandard service. I am sad to report that this was somewhat the case. Yes, the service was substandard but the food was too :( The service was pretty typical for a Chinese restaurant. The servers are doing their jobs and don't care too much about pleasantries. My main gripe is that we all felt like the food was bland (apart from the fried string beans). We had also ordered chow mein with bokchoy and beef. They had typed in our order wrong and instead a beef brisket friedchow mein came out. We told them that the wrong order came out and they tried to convince us to keep it but it wasn't what we wanted! If you are familiar with Cantonese food, beef brisket has a VERY distinct taste. Eventually they agreed to take back the beef brisket chow mein and came out 2 minutes later with the chow mein we had originally ordered. I could taste the beef brisket sauce on it still. They had just removed the beef brisket from the noodles and replaced it with beef and bokchoy. In my opinion, they should've made us a new dish as this completely changed the taste of the dish. In terms of vibes, the restaurant looks like your typical Cantonese restaurant, the inside is a decent size. I think the clientele here leans more to the older side, not many young people seem to frequent here. Overall, I will not be coming back or ordering from here again :(

This place has been here since I was a kid. Glad to see it's still here and I'm visiting again…read moreafter 20+ years. All I remember was that I liked their hot and sour soup. Not really an authentic Szechuan restaurant. 30 years ago, most chinese cuisines were cooked by hong kongers or south chinese people. So, most of these dishes are going to be a southern take on it. Hot and sour soup - price is awesome. $11 enough for at least 6 bowls. Souo base is missing a bit of flavor but it is jam packed with ingredients. Drunken chicken - it was ok. Little on the salty side. Shanghainese pan fried pork buns - these were probably the worst I've had. Not made in house and not properly pan fried. No juice, super dry, no fried bottom crust. Bean curd wrapped pork dim sum - surprisingly this came out last. At least 20 min has passed. This is a steamed dish but it came out with dried edges like it was sitting on a dry heater. Taste was ok. Mapo tofu - asked for extra spicy and extra numbing. Numbing was there but nowhere near real szechuan numbing. Was not spicy at all. Sauce was more oily than saucey. The price point reflects the quality. Things are either mediocre or a complete miss. Would come again to try only the better stuff. Staff was friendly. Came to try to refill the tea way more times than normal. The iron goddess tea tastes much better than a lot of dim sum places elsewhere.

Lunch specials are still around $15. Small stir fry type thing with rice and soup. I've always liked their green beans and also their ginger beef. I enjoy their hot and sour soup as well. A little bit on the saltier side. Definitely a solid dish. Phoenix claws - the naming says it's their house special sauce which tasted different than normal spicy black bean sauce. Was not a fan. Salt and pepper deep fried squid tentacles - still delicious and portions still the same - smaller side. They don't have any discounts for early morning dimsum. We were first customers to enter, and be greeted, but joined by others before seated, and by a good many more, soon after - the restaurant was more than half full in a very short time. We chose a table by the long window - all window seatings were 4-seat tables, so perfect for us. The larger, mostly round tables, were located throughout the central area of the restaurant. Table service was friendly, quick, and very efficient. We had a dim sum menu at our table, and an additional lunch menu was brought with tea service once we were seated. Our food order was taken as soon as we indicated a desire to order. Food arrived from kitchen to table rather quickly, and the dishes nicely sequenced. Presentations looked good, and definitely tickled our senses. Preparations were all nice and hot (yeah .. the way they should be!), and provided some very interesting and distinctive flavours and tastes. Dishes ordered as shown in the photos. Overall dining experience -- quality service, with good food preparations -- a much-enjoyed dining experience.

Service is typical Chinese restaurant style. We ordered a few items from the push carts. Shrimp dumplings, bbq pork rice roll, fried glutinous rice dumplings, steamed spare ribs and egg tarts. The dimsum were alright. The egg tarts lack egg flavor. We found the rice rolls too dense and heavy to our preference. The shrimp dumplings were flavorful and texture were on point Overall, i found the selection of steamed items were lacking (or maybe it was time we visited, which was at around 1pm) but there were a lot of deep fried items which werent our preference

Service is spot on as they have the carts and stop by frequently and all of the dishes are fresh. I am a sucker for crispy (outside normal sui mai) so I love their bbq puff pastry and spring rolls. Their prawn wrapped rice noodles are also very good. They bring a lot of sauces specific for each dish which is much appreciated. We've been going for years whenever we are in the area! It's currently my favorite dim sum spot!

The food court itself is full of different Asian cuisines, and this stall definitely stands out. They offer a wide variety of Shanghai-style dim sum, including dumplings, wontons, rice cake, several meat noodle soups, and some combo rice dishes. Big size and very delicious. I'd ask for extra dipping sauce (or the chill oil if you like spicy). These can get messy if you don't be careful. Take a small bite of the skin first and sip the soup inside before diving in. The soup is very hot, so I usually pour it onto a spoon and drink it from there. #13 is translated as "Steamed Mini Pork Buns" in English and Shanghai Xiaolongbao in Chinese on the menu, which is misleading. When I ordered it last time, it turned out to be the same buns as #14, just steamed instead of deep-fried. They're large and not mini at all like traditional XLB. Personally, I didn't enjoy them as much as the fried version and wouldn't order them again. They tend to stick together and aren't very to-go friendly. #14 is the star here, and it's absolutely worth coming back for.
