I have stayed there several times. This time being my fifth anniversary. Just a little staycation for my husband and I, I can't begin to explain the amount of disappointment that I received during these 3 days. I ordered the best king size suite they had with the tub jet tub. I Went to use the tub and it was disgusting, clearly it had not been clean because orange mold was coming out of the jets. Finally, I ran the jet and emptied the tub enough times to get the orange floaters out of my water and was able to used that. When I got there was a room with a tv that didn't work for 2 days almost, I'm not big on tv so whatever, but the fact that they had to "fix it" twice and there is a person with a "master remote" that was gone, so we got some quiet time but that is something that comes up with every hotel rooms. Let's move to the important part, the king size bed they gave me, a king size sheet with a full size down comforter, my husband and I got to chase each other around the bed all night freezing because for some reason the heater was not working and it was freezing. When I asked for a king size blanket to go with my room since that's what I ordered they brought me another full size blanket so on our anniversary we got to sleep in a bed with two separate blankets. I have never been more disappointed in diamond center hotel. I am pretty sure I will not be returning. Oh, also I called the manager, Julie, left a brief message, not to bombard her with things first thing but she chose not to respond to my calls so I figured, I will let you guys know how far down this hotel has fallen, it used to be my favorite. It was my anni so maybe I am being critical but because that day was so important and was offered no help in resolution even when after I left 2 messages to try to explain to Julie (the manager), but my calls again, were not returned. I am seriously surprised at her unprofessionalism considering all those things happened in 2 days actually because we decided to just go home on the final night because we were tired of chasing each other around and freezing. We got in around 1am Alaskan time and checked in. I was greeted by a smug and unfriendly front desk attendant who said his name was Dustin. His poor attitude and quip remarks made my first impression of Alaska and this hotel to be very poor. read more

This hotel is right by the Dimond Center Mall... and mind you the mall is one of those less fancy mall in Anchorage. While the hotel is fairly new, some of the things in here are old (i.e. iron board, quilted chair has some stains). I like the fact that there is a tub which one can use to relax while watching tv from the little window.... too bad I haven't had the chance of using it at all. The beds were comfortable, however, since the hotel is also right by a little transit center, when there were cars with special speakers, I could feel the window shaking as those cars drove by the hotel. I could also hear the footsteps in the hall way when kids or adults were running. I would suggest getting a room facing the front of the hotel (note that there is an opened space part of the second floor so some rooms may hear lobby noise). I gave it a 4-star since I do enjoy this hotel more than the downtown Marriott. The hotel does serve FREE continental breakfast which is very simple but fills the tummy so I don't have to hunt for food in the morning. There are a ton of the chain stores around so you won't really get bored staying in here. One thing I really did not like was the shower, it's really small for a hotel room this size and the curtain tends to be blown towards me while I'm showering which makes it a tad gross. They have a fridge and microwave, although I didn't use all of them but it's good to know they are available. Finally, if you like to work out, this is probably not a good choice. Any hotel guest can use the atheletic club to work out (you get this day pass), but the atheletic club is REALLY REALLY old. Nothing like your normal 24 hour fitness. My wife and I stayed in the Sheraton Hotel last year for Christmas. What a disappointment. This year we chose Dimond Center hotel and got the holiday vacation we wanted. I praise the location. We wanted to be close to shopping. Nothing could be better than Dimond. Walking distance to the mall. Plenty of parking. Our room was huge and very clean. Loved the large bathrooms and morning buffet. The hotel offers little amenities that other places charge for. Free coffee, full morning buffet with eggs and sausage, soaker tube, cookies in the evening, wifi throughout the hotel, small business center... Christmas display was great. We will be returning to this hotel. The location and hotel comfort suited our needs verse the hotels in downtown. read more

Ah, 72" jetted tub..... Kings size, most comfiest bed ever. And the loot includes: bottled water, a loofah, Aveda products, Biscotti, popcorn, organic tea. Oh my. They loose a star for my need to run the jets and refill the tub with clean water. At 300 clams I don't want to clean my own tub. Also, the location is a little odd, it is next to the Dimond Center Mall and a Wal-Mart.... I usually like to stay downtown but the room makes up for the loca. The staff was very pleasant and made note of running the jets when they clean the tub. My need for a quiet evening with the husband was completely fullfilled and totally enjoyed. I recommend going in the winter when the rates are cut in half, as is the case with most hotels in Alaska. read more

Spacious room. Bathroom set up is unusual but nice. Large tub in which you can see the tv from a set of windows that open if you want them to. The first evening here, check in was a breeze. Conversation was engaging with the staff at the desk. Very polite ladies. All is well. Second evening, we had to come back unexpectedly So our reservation through Travelocity hadn't arrived yet and there was another engaging conversation at the desk. Very polite young ladies. Very entertaining while we waited twenty minutes for the manager to find our reservation. We finally go upstairs, my friend had decided to nap before we went to see a movie so I shopped next door at the amazing mall and then to the other side of the hotel, which was where the Walmart is located. When I came back, the same desk staff women pointed toward me after I'd walked past, to an older janitor guy and said "there's one for you" to which he replied "no. Too BiG!!" And they all laughed heartily. I thought it rude to say the least. We all can be snarky or teasing however be sure to say it out of ear shot and definitely not to someone who just paid 100 plus dollars to stay at your establishment. I'm not a sensitive person so it didn't pop my happiness bubble, but dammit have some stealthiness and wait to make fun of customers or ya might not have a lot return. I will not be coming back, thanks. 4/26/2017 Stayed here again against my better judgement, but second chances are an okay thing because it turned out decent. Same people working but I didn't hear anything derogatory so they might have kept it on the down low. Which is all that I had issue with in the first place. Good clean room. Check in was easy, even with Travelocity. (That always takes a minute) Lady was looking over worked but was still pleasant. read more

Stayed here many times. Rooms and bathrooms are set up different than most hotels but consistently clean and well maintained as should be for price. Good free breakfast. Lots of things to do in neighborhood. Shuttle to airport runs on the hour. Only drawback is hotel bar is closed which is a bummer during football season. read more

My family and I stayed here for three nights, 2 adults and 2 children age 18 months and 6 years old. It was a great stay! They were all very nice and promptly brought things up that we needs like extra towels and blankets and even had a crib for our son! The free breakfast was great a huge fresh section and was even open till 10 am! Rooms are very clean and up to date it was a great stay even though hard being away from out home while repairs were being made it felt like a homey environment. I put a four because the beds aren't that comfy and they don't have comforters but thin blankets BUT you have your own thermostat in the room that works great :) have a great stay! read more

For a military discount I am very pleased. This is the best hotel we have found! We have stayed at other hotels in the area including the base. The room was very spacious, CLEAN, a huge soaking tub, comfortable bed (could not sleep on bed at base hotel), free wifi, a wonderful hot breakfast with eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, waffles along with all the usual cold options (yogurts and cereals). Staff was pleasant and very helpful and understanding with requests. It is also in a great location next to the mall and other dr's offices that we needed while we were in town! we will definitely be staying here again - thank you! read more

Really glad stayed here on recent trip to Alaska. I felt very comfortable, rooms are really nice and up to date. The free WiFi was a real plus, and the free breakfast included a good variety of foods and drinks to choose from. Liked it too that desk staff were available anytime. Tho Google is great on info, having input from someone local as to things to do, places to go and good food is better. That's how I found out about the Rustic Goat and Orso's. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and kind about my requests for extra towels and pillows. Would stay there again. read more

This is definitely a motel and not worth $150/night. Lack of amenities and service is super slow. Bathroom layout is pretty odd and it was dirty. Old dirty towels hanging on the rack, disgusting! There are 4 pillows in each bed, all of them are pretty beat-up and they don't even fit into the pillow case. Honestly, I won't come here, ever... and I don't recommend this to anyone. The hugest bath ever. The room was clean and very comfortable, the breakfast was satisfactory, but seriously, the bath tubs are huge.

I LOVE THIS HOTEL!!! This is truly a wonderful hotel!! I loved the big rooms, the awesomely big bathrooms, and I will never forget the sooo wonderful soaker tub!! The complimentary breakfast is BIG and outstanding!!! Dedicated, apparently happy staff made me feel confident and contented. Luckily I had a rental car because the location of this hotel is odd to say the least. Built behind the Dimond Center Mall, this is about as far from Anchorage downtown as you can get without being well on your way to Soldatna. This is not the place to stay if you are in town without a car because Anchorage cab fares and on-time availability are both problematic. It is also not the place to stay if you are hoping for a view. The hotel is modern, the rooms are adequately large though somewhat oddly narrow with very high ceilings. The bed, pillows, and bedding were all very comfortable. The soaking tub is huge and has great water pressure as does the walk-in shower. The breakfast room is a draw with many choices. There were a number of Alaska Natives staying there and it was an opportunity to chat with some interesting people and learn about different areas of rural Alaska. Apparently the hotel has more than the usual number of special offers for various groups and affiliations and it would be well worthwhile to explore these as the standard rate is somewhat high -- although not unduly so for Anchorage during summer tourist season. read more
