It is not necessarily a quiet location as drivers speed down the road at stupid speeds but so far haven't found a hotel in Anchorage that can avoid that. The little restaurant is nice in a pinch. They have the standard fare that other Hyatt Houses with this menu has. I don't know why but I really enjoy it even knowing it arrives frozen and is stuck in a microwave. But I find that pizza to be oddly comforting and a tendency to put me in a calm mental state - but that's a me thing. I don't expect others to understand. It was a great hotel for the stay. Solid. The common deck was a perfect place to start or end the day with views of the water. While I had booked my room through a third- party company, she found our reservation and was able to change us from a king bed to two double beds. That's great customer service. She even asked us what floor we would like to be on. I think she could see how tired we were from driving, so she gave us a nice room on the1st floor which was very convenient - since we knew we would be coming and going from our truck to our room. She made a great choice.. we were close to our vehicle so we didn't have to walk far to unpack our vehicle. Our room was cozy with a heater and an air conditioner. The beds were comfortable and there was great water pressure for the shower. Thank you to Eurina for making our evening welcoming and enjoyable. A second shout out to Boyd, at breakfast. Boyd was busy giving all the patrons their requests. I only saw him at breakfast and he was working hard but he was still friendly and helpful. Unfortunately everything is a bit outdated and musty here. There was a strange smell throughout the hotel at all times. The lobby is large and beautifully decorated, very on brand for Alaska. My room was decently clean, but smelled horrible. And I mean horrible. I do have a cat so I stayed in a pet friendly room, however it smelled like a wet dog lay all over the beds and no one cleaned it. I had to keep the window open my entire stay for my own survival. The staff was very nice! That's the biggest plus in this hotel. They are also have two restaurants and a coffee bar so you don't have to travel far for a quick meal.

The staff is very friendly, from the check-in process to the restaurant and bar service. Unfortunately my expectations were set a little too high where most of my wants were not met. The hotel is very outdated, the photos uploaded by the property did not accurately represent what I received. Perhaps some floors are newly renovated but my room was fairly old. The flat screen tv was not smart tv capable and you could only watch local channels: no Netflix, HBO Max or YouTube. The heating in my room was not functioning properly, I was cold throughout most of the night. I set the thermostat at 80 and there's no way the heat was even about 68. It was very cold outside and you could feel the windchill radiating from the window. The walls are also very thin and you could hear your neighbors and or anyone walking down the halls. It was 11pm and I could hear housekeeping making tons of noises so late in the evening. Also there's a train not too far away that runs every couple of hours and you can hear the train horn going off in the middle of the night and early morning. The fitness center located on the 5th floor is a pretty decent size with tons of equipment however there seems to be a problem with the key card reader to let you into the gym. I went downstairs to get a new key and even the new key did not work. I had to get a housekeeper to let me in. There was another hotel guest trying to tailgate and his keycard would also not work. Pool and hot tub are located in the same area. I was looking forward to soaking in the hot tub after a run but the hot tub was closed for maintenance. The equipment in the fitness center is very aged. During my run the treadmill came to a sudden stop and rebooted. Thankfully I was paying attention and focused otherwise that could have been a bad accident had I been distracted. Breakfast is available in the restaurant from 6:30AM to 10:30AM in the main lobby for $30. It's a buffet-style with a chef onsite to cook custom meals. If you're a Hilton Honors Elite with Gold status and above you'll receive a $15 credit towards the $30. Lunch and dinner are available between 11AM to midnight. Overall my stay wasn't terrible. Tons of hiccups. When I'm back in Anchorage I won't completely write it off but I'll definitely see what other hotel options are available in the area.

I was looking for more modern accommodations (versus the captain cook hotel we usually stay) and was really happy with our choice. The area of downtown that it is located is moderately seedy, but then again literally everywhere in Anchorage feels like the same level of seediness. Doors were opened for us, staff were friendly when called upon, and I had an excellent drink and bite to eat at the bar restaurant and a lovely chat with their bartender. She was such a treat to small talk with! The only downside was how hot it was in the room. I prefer a very cold room with fresh air. The windows cracked open but wouldn't stay open. They had fans in the room but it was still quite hot for me. They could also use a floor length mirror somewhere in the room. We didn't attend their breakfast, we walked to the best brunch spot in town, Palmeria, and I recommend you to do the same if you stay here!
