Was in the neighbourhood and recall hearing that this was a great Greek restaurant. As I am partial to Greek food, I had to try it. Greeted nicely by staff, all very friendly. Sat down quickly which I like. Water brought out. Decided on the zucchini sticks, the moussaka, the calamari, and the chicken souvlaki. Portions are generous, had a lot of leftovers. My favourites are the zucchini sticks and the chicken souvlaki. The server, Sofia, was excellent and I think one the best servers I've ever had. I would definitely return. I was happy to discover that their Surrey location is just as good as their Coquitlam location. My Greek is my go to for Greek food as their food is delicious and their portions generous. We got their roast lamb, calamari appetizer, and an extra order of their tzatziki. When I asked for their large order of tzatziki, no wonder the woman on the phone asked me twice whether it was the 16 oz. container that I wanted. I just assumed it was the same as the large size from the Coquitlam location. However, it turned out to be this entire takeout container of tzatziki! And it was such a great deal for only $8! So much better and cheaper than the store bought stuff! The roast lamb was tender and tasty as usual, and the calamari was great. My Greek will continue to be my go to for Greek food! My first time here and food was amazing. Started with saganaki....an interesting way of having cheese on fire!! The rack of lamb was very flavorful (so far best I've had). Even most simplest thing like rice pilaf was tasty. My husb couldn't stop eating as everything was good. Service was wonderful and very pleasant. I have not tried many Greek restaurants in Surrey, but this one was exceptionally good in terms of service, portion size and quality. We ordered a platter and saganaki to start. The saganaki was lit on fire at table side. It is something I have not seen at many other Greek restaurants I have tried. I have always enjoyed the melted cheese on some pita. The patter consisted of calamari, keftedes (beef patties), spanakopita (spinach, feta filo pastry) and garlic prawns. Portion size was good. The main entree I chose was the moussaka. The layers of eggplant and creamy béchamel topping was decadent indulgence. They baked it long enough that the golden crust on the béchamel layer added a nice crispy contrast to the rest of the softer layers. No room left for dessert afterwards. Service was great. Staff were quick to refill water and clear plates. We were handed take out containers to pack the leftovers to take home. Pricing is average or a bit higher depending on item ordered. There is parking on the plaza. The restaurant seems to do a lot of take out orders as I watched many customers picking up their food. read more

Wow, Great service, great food. Ordered Keftedes to start with a half litre of the house greek white wine. A change from my usual Calamari. Was very good. I followed the appetizer with the Greek ribs. Look at the photo I supplied. Wow..fantastic . Finished the meal with Ek Mek and coffee. Fantastic! Outside does not look greek but be fooled. We were in town for a soccer tournament and the food was AMAZING. Wonderfully authentic, tasty Greek-American style. Their lamb is to die for -- definitely a must try. Solid gyro and chicken as well. The staff was amazingly understanding, wrapping our meal to go as we needed to head back to the field sooner than anticipated. When we visit again (hopefully soon) we'll definitely be back and this time give enough time to enjoy some wine with the great food and service! read more

I have been to many Greek places but this one is totally underrated very good. It kind of seems like a 'hole in the wall' type place because it's very hidden and looks closed from the outside no matter how busy it may be inside. RECOMMEND: Saganaki (fried Greek cheese) and make sure to order Hummus with your pita bread because I have yet to find a better one from ANY where else. It is very garlicky' which in my opinion means great. I also HIGHLY recommend there Dolmades (Greek vine leaves stuffed with ground meat and rice, served in an onion gravy) These are SO good from here. They are super hot, fresh, and the meat is properly cooked and clean. I also seem to order the Garlic Prawn entree which is served with the usual Greek accom. The prawns were cooked PERFECT. Nothing to special with the rice and potatoes but they were still good. My boyfriend ordered the Lamb Shoulder, which is on special on Sundays but it was really fatty :( maybe this is normal for lamb shoulder compared to lamb chops ? I don't really know I'm not a huge lamb person , but the parts that weren't fat were cooked perfectly. SERVICE: Normal , friendly and quick. I had a nightmare at daytime from this restaurant. Before I ordered, I asked the server whether ribs are beef/pork, I don't eat pork. After Server's confirmation for beef, I ordered. I tasted, did not taste like beef, called and asked again, she reconfirmed again. But I could not eat at all, another server came and rudely asked me what's the problem with the food, finally she confirmed it was pork. First server apologized though they charged the full bill, the whole vibe we got was totally opposite of good customer service from these two servers. Food tasted good (rice,salad, potato which I ate from the platter), but I will not go back again because of this terrible customer service. read more

Sooooo good! How have I not been in here before? Service was quick and friendly, with a nice atmosphere and soft music. Lamb souvlaki was generous, tender and very well seasoned. Calamari was crisp, tender and flavorful. Baked spaghetti was a dish of heaven and the homous was AWESOME, for a garlic lover. Greek salad was fresh and crisp and the pita was warm and so fluffy. My husband loved the dolmates and he has ordered them at a lot of places including Athens and couldn't say enough good things about these ones. Dined at the surrey location on New Years Eve. Got to say, I wasn't too impressed with the service. Not only did they add an Automatic Gratuity, but they messed up the orders for 2 people in our party. One persons order was wrong, and another person did not get their meal until the rest of us were almost finished. (Apparently the waitress messed up when she took all of our orders, and they didn't even start making that person's diner until we questioned where it was.) No where in the restaurant did it say anything about adding an auto-Gratuity, and the waitress did not mention it either. We feel the waitresses service was "not up to par", and did not deserve the full gratuity. We have dined here in the last 3 months, and noticed that they did not have their regular menus, but a "Special New Years Eve" menu with "Jacked" up pricing. We do understand that it was a busy night, but this was a special diner for us because our whole family was together (it would have been nice to all eat together at the same time). We do understand that mistakes are made, but they didn't try to "make things right", as other restaurants do when they mess up. My mom was too polite to say anything, so she paid the bill in full and we left. *It would have been nice to have the ability to choose our own gratuity, based on the service that we received. It was my daughters birthday last night and she wanted Greek food for dinner. We have visited My Greek Taverna in the past with little success but we thought we would give it one more try. BIG MISTAKE!! I phoned in my order for take away. We picked up the order and when I got home, it was the wrong order. I ordered one chicken souvlaki and two roast lamb dinners. I received two lamb souvlaki instead. I phoned in, and right away the waitress on the other end was very rude just said " we cant do anything about it, it is what you ordered" !! I continued to tell her that was not the case. She continued to tell me I was wrong!! She was non apologetic, and very irrational then she just hung up the phone. I phoned back and a different waitress picked up the phone. I asked for the manager was told "manager just left" ya right !!! She again went on a tie rate and finally said if you don't like it bring it back very loudly and in condescending tone. At this point it was not about the food or the money we spent, it was about the principal of the issue. Needless to say my wife and daughter were very upset!. On principal I took the food back to My Greek Tavern they would not give me my money back, only to replace the order. As it was getting late I was tired of arguing and just wanted to get home and celebrate my daughter birthday. Mr Greek Taverna practicality ruined the evening we did not eat the food as it was very dry and tasteless and ended tossing it out!! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone for the food quality and very poor service!!! This is an old and tired restaurant and I think the owners don't care. So disappointed with this place! I used to love it. Today the beef souvlaki wasn't made properly (over cooked and over salted). We told our server and she brought it back to the kitchen and she told us that it's the marinade and it couldn't be fixed. She proceeded to give us attitude and charged $17.95 for a "veggie" platter because I had eaten my potato already. We asked to speak to the manager however, she claimed he/she wasn't available to speak to customers but told her to charge us for the veggie platter. My wife and I both ordered the lamb shoulder roast dinner. All portions were smaller than previous years, potatoes were greasy, lamb was unflavored and dry. My wife ordered a glass of wine. When we were ready to pay and leave when I did something I usually never do. I did not review the bill but I did take it with me. I looked at It when we got home and noticed that instead of being charged for the glass of wine we were charged for 1/2 bottle. I tried contacting the manager by phone without success. Then I drove to the restaurant and the manager was not in. I was asked to leave my phone number. I did not receive a call. The second time I drove to the restaurant the manager was in. He refunded my money differance except for the liquor tax. Considering the food and service we had many years ago at this restaurant I will find another Greek restaurant.
