    Calamari & Margarita

I came to the Sfinaki Taverna for dinner. This restaurant has an amazing Greek decor, it seems that you are in Greece. Their customer service is fabulous, the waitress was wonderful and she was super helpful. We ordered the calamari as a starter. The calamari was delicious, the spices were really good and it was fresh. The chicken gyro as the main dish was incredible delicious and it came with fries as a perfect combination. It was so really good. I wish to see more options but the options that they have, it was really good. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The customer service was great, food was ok. I truly enjoyed the pita, it came out hot and buttery. I ordered the lamb, calamari which was bland and combo seafood skewers. Scallops and shrimp were delicious but the veggies were tasteless. I'd give them another try. It's a very intimate spot. Pretty clean from what I could tell and walking distance from my hotel. I do not and I repeat DO NOT. Recommend the baklava. Wayyy too many pecans and was not fresh.

Pretty good! I was surprised how their mains were quite pricey but glad I came for dinner! The Lamb souvlaki was delicious! The 2 skewers of meat were not overdone at all like some other places. The rice and potato were cooked and seasoned to perfect The portions are not as big at other Greek places but I would say the quality is there! I wish I had room for dessert, that's the goal for next time The tables are spaced out which I like and lots of free parking on the streets

Wonderfuly light and flaky phyllo filled with layers of warm spinach. I was pleasantly surprised how warm it stayed and long the pastry remained intact and not soggy. My partner had the Greek Ribs & Chicken which came with all the Greek fixings ( rice /Greek salad / potatos / tzatziki & pita). The ribs has a nice seasoning run on them but like most Greek chicken ( I found it was quite dry). The potato's were not heavily lemoned either. It really was just a roast potato. We also had a Baklava. This was over sweet & heavy with what I found similar to the taste of black licorice or ouzo. Personally not a fan. We lucked out and got a seat to eat but most people appear to be doing take out orders and pickups here. Food takes a while to be ready so be ready to wait and eat with people sitting or standing waiting for their food. There is small side table, window counter and larger side table but there is definitely not too many places to sit. I'd recommend just puting in an order before showing up to save on waiting time. Staff was friendly despite how busy it got. Located on Hastings St. Plenty of street parking & side street parking and definitely transit friendly.

Portion size is very generous with rice, lemon potatoes, greek salad and good pita bread. The ambiance is quite casual and has limited seating so takeout is a good option. Loved and I wish I could eat more but there was no more room for more food. After I ordered my food, the waitress started to talk about the wine and which wine will harmonize with my meal. And she was right. Anyways, I hope you have a great experience like I did have. Cheers

I have seen a lot of good reviews about this place and convinced our party of 8 to come try it…read moresince it's in our neighborhood and we have been looking for a new local Greek restaurant since Panos on Marine Drive closed down. Sadly, we were sooooo disappointed! We came on a Saturday evening at peak time, around 6:30pm, so granted, we expected it to be busy. We were sat nearly right away in comfortable booths with tables. The waitress brought us menus and water. So far so good! We ordered our food, nothing crazy, several got the special of the night, lamb souvlaki with potatoes rice and pita. A couple ordered the seafood pasta, one asked for red sauce instead of cream sauce and two asked for veggie lasagna's but they only had one order available. When we asked about the beers on menu, we were told each one was unavailable except for Heineken and the seasonal beer. When we asked what it was, she didn't know. She then brought the can of beer over and said she wasn't sure what type it was. Fair enough! She was young, seemed new and not quite trained with alcohol so no big deal. It gave us a giggle. It was a Granville Island radler btw. I ordered a Heineken and my friend ordered the yummy sounding spicy passionfruit margarita. My beer came fairly quick but no margarita. Then the young waitress came out to say that our food would take a bit longer to come out since they were a bit slammed with orders and asked if we wanted any appetizers. We decided we'd be ok, and decided to wait. One hour later!!!!! I'm not joking, one hour later, the margarita drink came out. Again, we noticed very young and probably newly hired staff attempting to make drinks. When this $19 drink came out, it looked like the rim of salt was touched with fingers and a lot of it was missing. However, my friend desperate for a drink or morsel of anything, decided to just have it as it came. She said it was delicious and the best thing she had. One hour and a half later!!! Our food came out. My medium rare lamb was cooked through and the pasta with red sauce came out with a cream sauce, but there was NO way we were going to send anything back as we were pretty hangry at this point. The potatoes were delicious, the rice extremely plain. All 8 of us agreed that for the price, service and quality of food, we would not be returning, although my friend said if the passionfruit drink was on the happy hour menu, she would consider it. All in all, very disappointed.
