OK. So so many places claim to have Chicago's best pizza. I've been here 20 years and it took me 20 years to find what I think is Chicago's best. My orders have been carry out only, so I will review a dining experience in the near future, but what I can say is that this pizza is an absolute knockout. Couldn't itemize as to what it is, but there is just something. Both deep dish and pan are amazing. The sauce has incredible flavor, the cheese on the pan is stick and bubbly, and just the right kind of salty. I will update my review to include pictures when we go to dine in. But in the meantime, if you're looking for what is my opinion, the best pizza in Chicago, you should go here! read more

Ordered a small sausage and peperoni pizza for carryout. $20 kind of pricey. Inside is as old school as it gets, flashback to the 80's but very clean and tidy. The pizza was good. They make a very thin crisp buttery crust pizza. The sausage and peperoni toppings were both very tasty and they use a quality cheese not very greasy on top. The sauce was good and seasoned well. A perfect throwback spot, with a warm and friendly staff, good prices, and dependable quality. I love all kinds of pizza: Neapolitan, deep dish, but tonight I wanted cracker crust, tavern-style pizza and they delivered. Sausage on my half was very good (what is the fascination with pepperoni these days?) and the sauce was good and not too sweet. The dining room has a comfortable 1990's vibe to it, which is all right with me. I overheard a conversation between a waitress and the family next to me: one member had had her christening party there, and she was 30 years old now. Isn't that the kind of place we need still? Next stop on our pizza adventure was Dino's, which was just featured on Yelp's top pizza places in Chicago! We ordered our tried and true favorite pizza (pepperoni and green pepper for me, pepperoni and sausage for hubby!) and an app to go. The fried ravioli caught our eye right away! Dino's is definitely slightly more pricey than your normal mom & pop pizza place.... about $10 more total, which isn't a huge deal, but something to note. The pizza was greasy. I don't normally do the whole pizza napkin dab, but it was necessary here. My green peppers were also cut super unevenly; some were teeny tiny pea sized pieces and some looked like a quarter of the pepper. The fried ravioli was good, but honestly it was so similar to fried mozzarella sticks! You couldn't really taste the pasta part of the ravioli, so I would skip this next time. Overall, it was a-okay! We ate and enjoyed, but we definitely prefer other spots for price and quality. read more

I been going to Dino's for more than 30 years, I've always loved their thin crust pizza until tonight. I ordered a pizza and there was so much pizza sauce that the cheese and other ingredients slid off of the crust. I couldn't put my fingers in the crust at the edge without getting pizza sauce on my fingers. Very disappointing, maybe it's time to try Trios pizza directly across the street. read more

Spent a moment in time to visit this place and it seems as it takes me back in time to 30 years back. There was a ton of people visiting and a bunch of regular patrons come by often. I was there to do a pick and there wasn't much of a place or area to stand. Anyone would feel like they were in the way of the cleaning crew and register person. It was filled with people a few years older than I although I look younger than my age. The people in the back work really hard to catch up with the orders and especially the take out orders. I am not sure if they even need my business since they have enough customers. I really like there pizza and the sandwiches were not that great or at least the one that I had last month. I have only been there twice before and first time for the pizza. It was even difficult to hear on the phone when trying to order food since the phone taker was in a rush. It's a very decent pizza that heavy in weight for its bread and ingredients inside. A small stuff pizza weighted a ton for its size. I wasn't a fan of the spaghetti. First visit to Dino's. Met our son there for dinner before his flight. Nice convenient location for O'Hare. The pizza was fantastic. Good salad and drinks as well. We received great service and the other customers volunteered to move around a bit so we could get three seats at a table in the bar. Nice old school ambience. Told it wud be 1.45 hrs for delivery during bears game which was fine because we ordered beginning of 2nd qtr. this was at 6:25. At 8:25 I called and asked r they on way. Guy showed up dropped food and was like call restaurant to pay. Wtf? Seriously? With door dash Uber Eats... there is a reason people don't want to deal with all this bs. So then I'm getting hammed by telephone calls - while trying to eat food cold and late. Called them back and paid. Then then!! Have someone at my door... now in bed ...ringing my doorbell. I call Dino's back saying hey someone at my door continues to ring my bell and I can see in my camera he's got like a slip or bill and I already called and paid. The manager is like we're closed. There still exists a "Little Italy" near downtown Chicago, but there's not much Italian left to it, 'cept or a once a year weekend festival. No, for me, Chicago's "Little Italy" is more likely to be found around Harlem Avenue, south of I-90, in the NW suburbs of Norwood Park, Norridge, and Harwood Heights. Got to be more pizza joints per square mile than anywhere else in Chicago.  I'm counting 16, and that's not including the Italian deli/groceries,  of which there are several. I've made the journey to the delis before, notably (reviews) "Nottoli" and "Rex."  If I was forced to choose one or the other to patronize the rest of my life, it would be a very close call, but "Rex" would win out.  They have fewer groceries than Nottoli, but more hot "to go" meals, and for me, their meatballs are way ahead of Nottoli's. All that being said, there are 16 pizza places to check out, and one, in particular, I've wanted to hit for a long time.  Officially named "Dino's Italian Restaurant" I suspect most patrons go for the pizza.  They have been around for over 60 years and that's always a plus for me. I ordered to take-out, but the joint was bustling for a post lunchtime Saturday afternoon, and it was one of those places where everyone seems to know each other. ("Hi, Norm!"). Servers were affable, eager to please, and knew how to do their jobs. The interior is homey and 'neighborhood-y.'  Boy, I am making up the words today. The Pizza On to the pizza. I fully realize every person has their own preferences for pizza, and in Chicago, we have so many choices. Thick crust, deep dish, stuffed crust, double crust, pan,  sausage crust, no crust, and the one I prefer, a thin crust referred to in many local establishments as "tavern-style." Using Italian pastry/pizza flour (many places use regular flour, which for me, doesn't give a great outcome, the ideal thin crust pizza sports a crust that is cracker-like, but not flakey. It has some good "chew" to it, and because tavern-style pizza is cut in squares instead of triangular slices, there's no "hang," that is, the cheese and toppings aren't going to slide off your slice when you pick it up. 16" thin crust pizza with sausage For my taste, Dino's is perfect. A medium application of flavorful tomato sauce, not too much, not to skimpy, and it tastes like (surprise!) tomatoes!  Too often pizza joints use sauce that has corn syrup solids as fill, and it becomes ultra-sweet - if it's your thing, find, it's just not for me. Ample cheese, real cheese, again, not the kind blended with fillers.  Nice stretch, great taste, well melted. Finally, the topping.  I went simple, Italian sausage.  Fantastic.  Hand-pulled chunks of sausage with fennel and garlic, great texture, nice size, not those god-awful preformed sausage pellets so many places use. I bought the pizza to take home, a 40 minute drive, laid it carefully in the back area of the SUV. Thought I'd just sneak a peek before driving off. Damn, the aroma.  Ok, maybe one slice before I go. Back in the driver's seat, slice devoured, "Ok, maybe just one more." Managed some self-restraint after that second slice and drove away.  OK, I managed for about ten minutes.  Then another ten minutes.  A stop for a cola. Then another ten minutes.  And by the time I pulled into my driveway, the massive, 16-inch pie I had purchased has shrunk by half.  Oops. Dino's Italian Restaurant has a very lengthy menu that includes appetizers,  sandwiches, salads, soups, pasta, chicken dinners, fish, ribs, veal, steak and dessert.  You can see it online . Updated I was very hesitant but I called and let them know of the problem. The person I spoke to over the phone was very sweet, and very professional. She gave us a credit for a future order. We will continue to order from Dino's. Makes me wonder why I hadn't done it sooner! --------------------------------- We love the BLT pizza! It's great in the summer or winter... day or night! It's so yummy my picky kids will eat it. We've been loyal customers for over 2 years. As usual, we placed our order and they said 40-45 minutes and it took longer than usual, which of course we understand since they were behind in orders. My biggest complaint is that this isn't the first time that this happened: the wings are under sauced and overly hairy! The wings don't seem to undergo much cleaning prior to being cooked and slathered on that delicious Buffalo sauce! The 3 stars is because I'll continue to order the BLT pizza or the calamari as usual. I love supporting local businesses! Just gotta remember to not get the wings anymore... read more

One reason I would consider going back to a place is due to the service and Dino's definitely had great service. Our waitress was super friendly to not only my hubby & I but even to my child. She told him he'd get free ice cream if he behaves during dinner. She followed through on that promise. Even the bus boys were cordial by asking to take our plates instead of just reaching in and grabbing them. The food was also pretty good. The fried calamari had the tentacles - best part! We had thin crust pizza which had little or no outside crust - sauce and toppings all the way to the edge. Nice! Great outside seating, too. We'll be back! read more

My husband & I used to go here alot in the past. The pizza was great but not anymore. Very empty inside too. The waitress was nice & friendly but the pizza was not good at all. There are many other places go get a great pizza. Don't waste your time or $$ here. The inside is very depressing too. I prefer places such as Moretti's that have other customers & a good vibe. I remember this pizza was great but not anymore. Despite no one in the restaurant the service was very slow. Not even people picking up orders. A very dead place now. Don't waste your time. I love everything bout Dinos! I used to come here all the time with my sports teams growing up and have the fondest memories. I moved away for quite some time and hadn't been back in years. About a year ago was my first time returning and I am OBSESSED. They have the best pizza and best prices in the neighborhood. Their staff is SO friendly and beyond helpful. Foods been good here twice the last couple of times "twice". Had two different severs second one I had just starred at us while me and my buddy ate for a few minutes (I've found the to be odd since I've worked in hospitality before).
