I wish that I had better things to say about the service at Dion's, but after my experience today I can only give them two stars. I make my own pizza at home and usually get the pre-made dough balls from Dion's since they are very near where I live. I did my shopping at King Soopers to get the ingredients for making my pizzas. After that I went to Dion's to get the dough balls. There were very few customers at time and the gentlemen who took my order said that it would be ready in "just a few minutes". Fifteen minutes later I am still waiting. I see a bunch of young teens folding boxes and doing other mundane tasks and standing around. Nothing seems to be getting done. I went back to the counter and asked what is taking so long? Seriously, it takes fifteen minutes to grab 4 dough balls? I mean, they are already pre-made. They just have to be wrapped in plastic wrap and put in a carry out container. The guy at the counter gave me a strange look when I told him that I could have ordered a cooked pizza and gotten it much faster. In the meantime, I've got a car full of groceries sitting in hot temperatures. He went into the back and came out with my order. He handed it to me and mumbled some lame excuse for why it took so long. Not even a sincere apology. I'll be looking for another source to purchase my dough for homemade pizza. I'm from Albuquerque where Dion's first originated and was very curious to see if the hatch green chili that New Mexico is famous for was offered at this Denver location. I was stoked to find the 505 pizza tastes exactly how I get it back home! I'm excited to see one of my favorite family restaurants expand. They even have the green chili ranch here too! A couple of years ago this was our favorite lunch spot. Unfortunately it has gone downhill. The restaurant is very rarely clean the few times we have stopped in to give it another chance. The food is ok if they get your order right, but nothing to write home about. The staff are rude. We used to know management by name because they were attentive and cared about their customers. Dion's has the best pizza I've had in a very ling time. Their gourmet thin crusts are fantastic, and I highly recommend adding pine nuts to your pizza. Their subs are great too, especially with the raspberry vinaigrette. Even my wife, who generally doesn't like to eat subs, said she loved it and would likely ever only eat subs from Dion's. Service is always friendly and courteous. Their lemonade is also worth trying - it can be a touch too sweet for my taste sometimes but you can ask them to put less sugar. If you order and pay online, you still have to wait in a long line at the cash register when you arrive. The website said it'd be ready in 45 minutes. 45 minutes later you are standing in a line that takes 25 minutes. Only to be told you will have to wait another 30 minutes for them to make your food. I was presently surprised at this restaurant. Going up to it and seeing that is a drive through and that the inside looks like a fast food restaurant kind of made me say no at first but after getting past that it is a very good pizza/ sub shop. The pizza here is awesome and they load them with toppings. The subs are awesome to. I've always gotten the Italian and they have packed on the meat and toppings. The bread is always nice and toasted and super crunchy. As for the pizzas. They are always good and have tons of toppings. We always get the meat lovers from them and the ingredients taste so much better than papa johns or dominos. No surprise there but they are a very good pizza shop. I actually really like the fact that they have the drive through window for the order pick ups because it makes it easier than having to go in and grab it, especially if it is a larger order you can drive up, grab, it from the window and you are on your way. A very pleasant evening and my first time at Dion's. My girlfriend raves about this place from Albuquerque, so having one in our "backyard" was a boon for her. We went and had two pizzas (meat for me and pep and jalapeños for her) and a salad. It was very good. My only issue with this was that I ord er ed extra sauce (I like sauce) and when I got the pizza it really didn't look like extra sauce. We got a side of the sauce and found that it was very thin. So most likely it was extra but got absorbed in the cooking process. Emily, who took our orders was VERY bubbly and welcoming. Perfect attentiveness and a true pleasure to talk to. We will be back. They DID try to charge us $.40 for a tiny side of sauce, but when we explained the lack of sauce on the pizza when we ordered extra, they were happy to give the side. Better than you might expect! Doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a quaint gathering place with a great menu. Their pizza is good, their salad is fantastic, and their subs are pretty great too. Staff is always friendly and quick to help. We are always satisfied with our meal. I have to do some modifications for dietary reasons (primarily with the salad) and they are always willing to accommodate! I absolutely love the Duke City! So so tasty!! The only thing I wish is that they would have more selection of pizza sauce. I am not a fan of red sauce so my choices with that are limited. Subs are also amazing and salads too! You can never go wrong with the cheese toast! I order mine with ranch (since I don't like red sauce). Being in Colorado, I really do wish they would serve some local brew. I grew up in ABQ and Dion's Pizza in an institution there. I haven't been to one in years and it did not disappoint! We got a salad to split with their amazing ranch dressing. Its so good a bought a bottle to go. My son got his usual, a slice of pepperoni and bacon. It had tons of real bacon on top. I order a whole Duke City Pizza to be sure I'd have leftovers for my husband. The green Chile was so flavorful and the cheddar cheese and Turkey was a delicious combo. It was even better when I added a little bacon stolen from my son's slice. And it was incredibly affordable too. Now if the would open a South Suburban location too! read more

We went to Dion's for the first time last night and were happily impressed! We ordered a roast beef and provolone sandwich, turkey and Swiss sandwich, a small order of garlic cheese bread and a large chicken Caesar salad. Their sandwiches were wonderful--crunchy bread with a soft inside, good quality meats and cheeses, and Greek dressing on the side. The employees were helpful and the restaurant was very clean! We also loved the salad and took home about half or our food for another meal today. We will definitely try the pizza on our next visit! My friend and I decided to stop here for lunch since it was on the way home and we were starving. I ordered a lemonade, slice of pepperoni pizza with pineapple and an Italian sandwich that came with chips and Greek dressing on the side. My husband wasn't able to meet us for lunch so I wanted to bring some leftovers back so he could try it as well. I thought the slice of pizza was ok, definitely not better than Papa John's like another yelp review mentioned. I had never had pizza were the pineapple was just thrown on top, usually they add the toppings you want and bake it, maybe this place doesn't do that. Not the best pizza in the Southlands area. Nothing special, the Napoli gourmet pizza reminded me of a Red Baron from King Soopers.

Finally. A non-chain chain comes to our neighborhood. Yes, Dion's is a New Mexico-based chain but it is so much better than what we used to have here - mainly Pizza Hut and Papa Johns. I always order my pies with extra sauce and light cheese and I have rarely been disappointed here. The personal-sized salads are great too. They even have a drive-through pick up window for orders that were placed online or via phone. Can be crowded on Friday and Saturday nights during the school year as a high school is nearby. Parking can be tight too. A nice solid addition to the neighborhood. read more

I love Dions! My husband, who is a native to Albuquerque, introduced me and I fell in love. I have been to the original and this one in Aurora is just as good! You gotta love consistency! We drove 2 hours to visit this Aurora location but rumor has it that one is coming to Commerce City which is way closer to us! We always get the 505 pizza, ham and Swiss with green chile sub (and don't forget the Greek sauce ;) and a small salad. Delicious! It also is great that the prices are so affordable. The lemonade is great as well, matched with their tea= killer Arnold Palmer. The staff here was awesome, super friendly and quick. What more could anyone ask for in a pizza place? You can't go wrong visiting Dions! With delivery and drive through there is no reason they should not be able to become as popular and well known here in the Denver Metro area as they are in NM! read more

Dions is amazing!! The food is amazing and reasonably priced. I was introduced this place by a friend from New Mexico. So when you opened this location we were there enjoying all the ranch our little hearts desired. The green Chili ranch is even more amazing then we could've ever expected!! My only complaint is all of your Colorado locations are minimum 45 minutes away from me . Please open up a location closer to central Denver. Glendale area would be amazing. Drove all the way from Morrison to get a taste of home from one of my favorite Albuquerque restaurants and they did not dissapoint. We've been waiting patiently for this place to open. Dion's pizza is pretty amazing. The 505 is unique and has great flavor. I've also had the Tuscany pizza and added bacon to it which ended up being my favorite so far. AND I love the ranch dipping sauce, I don't care if it has MSG in it! The gourmet pizza is perfect for 1 person since its 10" and is done is 10 minutes...I highly suggest getting it vs the regular crust which is much thicker. The customer service was really good, the menu was lacking and that's a good thing because I would be writing about a crappy calzone Instead of asking how can you fuck up a Pastrami sandwich? It was bland! two bites I thought I had gotten cloned meat. which might be the case since the McDonalds next door serves the same food, they may be in co-hoots It's rumored that this is the same type of food as Fazolli's and Olive Garden. Not for one looking for real Italian. There is a plus side - 1. 1 star automatic deduction for the "Denver Area" Dion's being in Kansas.....We live right next to City Park, so making the minimum 45 minutes each direction (with no traffic, and paying $6+ in road tolls) only makes sense when we are feeling supremely nostalgic for the 505. While we loved Dion's in NM, our 2 visits to this location were not up to par. The pastrami last night was inedible grizzle. They did make things right, but when you drive an hour out of town for a less than satisfying meal it is frustrating as hell! Given the Kansas location of this store, we will be waiting for visits to the 505 for our fix.....unless we run out of Greek dressing again. It makes much more sense for us to add our own green chile to the plethora of better pizza joints closer to Denver. Sorry our expectations were beyond the capabilities of this location.... read more
