We called Dip and Strip in Colton to have an estimate to have two front doors refinished. They came out and gave us an estimate that we could except. This was in April. We told them we would be ready to have the doors done in May. I called them 4 times to try to get them out to do the work. The person on the line said, "I will call you back." They did not call back. Finally, when I got a call, they didn't remember that they ever came out to give a quote. I sent a text with their quote and pictures of the doors. Then they found their records and gave a date to do the work. It is now the end of September. We started this in March with the understanding that they would do the work in June. Today, September 23rd, they were supposed to be here at 10 am. I confirmed this twice. They arrived at 11 am. I said I was concerted they were late and the difficulty with trying to get to answere my calls. They took no responsibility for being late but tried to blame me for not responding to messages, that never said they would be late. I was very concerned with their lack of lack of professionalism, so I tried to express this to them. They cut me off and said they would not do the work. This is the most unprofessional company I have ever been involved with. I warn people against using them. read more

Dip 'N Strip responded quickly to my request for a quote, and arrived, as scheduled, the next morning for a pick-up of three chairs, which needed stripping to their natural base. These chairs were originally "mahogany" office chairs with Naugahyde upholstery, Salvation Army finds. They will be waxed and reupholstered and transformed into dining room chairs. They were quick to show up and price was reasonable if they did good work. I gave them multiple pieces that started all the same color but came back refinished three different colors. He wanted me to go to his "office" to look at the finished product to approve it. I showed up to what looked like a dimly lit and densely packed cave. Could not see much. But at that point he had held on to my furniture for many weeks so I just approved it. Extremely unprofessional in their approach. You know the saying you get what you pay for and it's definitely true here. They are also very schetchy the owner comes but tells you he is just the driver. Every time you call there the guy answers and says he is the bookkeeper the person you ask for is not around. I put two stars because eventually I got my table back although I need to have it refinished professionally now. so if anyone knows a good refinisher let me know. read more

I was a bit leery taking most of the 139 year old doors in my house in Santa Barbara to Azusa to have them stripped but all turned out great. Timing wise they met the date I needed to pick them up which was really important. Not only did they strip the doors but they hit them with a 150 grit sandpaper so they were ready to oil up and re-install. They saved some of the hardware we forgot to remove and did their best on a couple not in such good shape. Very tedious work due to a lot of detail on the all wood panels. I was so happy with the results, here I am a year later and going to see about them doing my kitchen cabinets. Family owned and operated business. Jesus and family are very nice people. However this time I needed a large pantry cabinet built to blend with the existing cabinets in our new home. I read on yelp that they also make custom cabinets. They did a beautiful job, especially matching the existing kitchen design. The installation took a little longer than expected but they worked very hard making sure we were very satisfied with the finished product. Many, many, hours of my time have gone into stripping paint from old five panel doors. I took a chance and sent in a hideously painted five panel wood door to dip'n strip to see what they could. These guys are great! They do exactly what they say they will do and they are on time, careful, considerate and professional. They are also very reasonably priced. We hired them to repaint our kitchen cabinets. This was a really big job because the cabinets were old, damaged and in really bad shape. We also had a rather unusual request for them, we wanted them to put a smooth red finish on them. This was difficult because the grain of the wood needed to be covered. The results are beautiful. We also asked them to change the hinges to European style hinges which turned out to be a challenge. They did the research and figured out how to solve the problem. They also built a really nice hanging box for my microwave. It looks like it was always there. They did an awesome job. I can't say enough good things about them. BEYOND RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND CHILDISH CONDUCT This morning, Dip 'n Strip was scheduled to pick up a bed for repair. I greeted the owner, Jesus and his assistant at the door with a cheerful good morning, and asked if they would mind putting on some booties (which I provided) as the hardwood floors had just been refinished and there is a lot of construction going on around the exterior of my home -- I didn't want the debris to be tracked into the house. Jesus, the owner of Dip 'n Strip became very angry and told me " If that's how we are going to start, you know what, just forget it". When I inherited my grandparents' dining set, I had every expectation that I would refinish it all myself and update it with a new look. Yeah, I guess not. But my mother and my sister had both used Dip 'n Strip before, so I turned to Jesus for help. He did a terrific job within 3 weeks and reasonably priced. Not super cheap, but very fair and he also did some repairs that we hadn't discussed but they turned out beautiful. The first project was 6 dining chairs and a dining table that has 2 built-in leaves. Fully refinished and looking great (he matched the stain to my coffee table so it would all go together). He also took 2 Side chairs to strip only. We were thrilled with the results and then for part 2 he did a liquor cabinet and buffet. My husband and I did the upholstery on the chairs, and now we have a solid oak 1930s dining set that's brand new and less than the cost of buying a new comparable set. We had 3 antique doors with numerous coats of paint on each, they did a great job of getting every speck off! Way easier that trying to strip it yourself, plus they get all the nooks and crannies that are impossible to get with a scraper. read more
