Dr. Cappelen is awesome. Full disclosure, she's also my big sister. She was a valedictorian in HS, was in the top 5% at UCLA and at Boston University and not surprisingly she's also the favorite child in the family :) Our mom is a pediatrician and has been practicing for 30+ years, I see a lot of her influence while watching my sister work. The office has seen 43 new patients this month which is a huge testament to the quality of work produced in Dr. Burke's office, their staff is thorough, courteous and very friendly. I have been going to the San Rafael location for a few years now, mostly for regular cleanings. It was time (I'm 50) to have some old childhood fillings replaced. Dr. Dipa Cappelen replaced a number of these old fillings plus placed a new crown on one tooth. Over three visits she and her assistant (who is great) did all of the work. They were both conscientious about any discomfort (there wasn't any) and about making sure the work was done right (it was). Sometimes when you have fillings replaced your bite can feel odd, but each time the anesthetic wore off it was like nothing had changed. Dr. Cappelen really seems to enjoy her work and it shows. Plus she is a genuinely nice person. I cannot recommend her enough. read more

My whole family goes to Dr. Cappelen and we all love the practice. Even my 2 and 5 year olds have their teeth cleaned and they're never scared or worried. Last year around this time, I was looking for a dentist in Marin County for my family. My criteria were a dentist with excellent reviews and one who works with my dental insurance plan. I actually read the reviews in multiple platforms, not just checking out the star ratings, and shortlisted two dentists. Finally, I chose Dr Cappelen, and within the last year I have had a fantastic experience with her office. I recommend Dr Cappelen Dental Office to anyone based on the following: - I believe they work with most insurance providers. - Dr. Cappelen is professional, and at the same time, personable and very attentive if you have any concerns or questions. I have also worked with a number of her staff, and all have been excellent. - I am totally happy with the quality of their work. - I had an emergency situation once and they went out of their way to accommodate that in their schedule. - The office is well organized, and I have always been seen on time. - The office has a homey vibe. Dr. Cappelen is simply amazing. She is not currently my dentist, but was for a time when she lived in the Boston area. Although I was a patient for a time I would call myself her friend as well. I have known Dr. Cappelen for over 20 years and she is truly as good as it gets as a person and a dentist. Her honesty, integrity and work ethic are beyond reproach. I also have a unique view as I can comment on her excellent clinical skill. I also am a dentist and have not ever written a review for any other dentists. Good dentists are common but great one's are rare. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to the best. Just switched to Dr. Cappelen from my old dentist. Very thorough, professional and a genuinely good and honest person. That is all I ask. ------ BACKGROUND My OLD DENTIST office was pushy even after I made it clear that I did not want constant x-rays and replacing my perfectly fine fillings, Talking me in to a crown which has now failed after 2 years ( they told me should last 10-15( follow the money) and their staff made several rookie mistakes on insurance. They did not own up to their mistakes and stuck me with the bill. Example: on the way out of my appt. they insist you make the next appt. my insurance covers one routine visit every 6 months. They made the appt short of the 6 months EVEN WITH THE COMPUTER, calendar and insurance right in front of them. I had to pay for that appt ( so wasted my insurance which of course I already pay for). No apology - just the bill and the desk people rolling their eyes when I called them out on it. Got tired of being abused. IF YOU'RE being pushed into services that you don't want ( especially when they smile as they are SELLING YOU) and they don't fix their own mistakes... say goodbye. There are better alternatives out there like Dr. Cappelen. read more

What thorough and expert dental cleaning and care I received from Dipa and her staff. They were not only excellent in their care but they were also pleasant to be around.
