I wouldn't recommend Direct Air. 3 years ago I had them install a brand new air handler. 2 people came to install: 1 person that seemed like a young trainee that did all the work and another older gentleman that seemed to be overseeing him. After the job was done I noticed that air was leaking all around the unit and mentioned it. All they did was come back and tape up the entire unit (as shown). I thought this was normal and didn't know any better. Over the last 3 years I've had various AC companies come to do maintenance. Every technician that looks at the unit is shocked at how a new unit can look like this. I had an AC company come out last October to do a routine cleaning. After inspection the technician showed me what seems to be mold, which is understandable because this unit leaks air and even water along its panels pretty badly. After his report, I immediately called Direct Air out to the house to complain about what I felt was a bad initial installation that was leading to the exterior and interior condition: the air leakage, the water leakage, the pictures of the mold. The Direct Air tech looked it over and then proceeded to give me a cleaning quote of over $1500. I explained to him that I'm not looking for a cleaning quote; I needed Direct Air to fix the initial bad installation that was causing all these problems. His started explaining that the humidity in Miami can be a cause but I said I've lived in this house for 40 years and never had a problem with an air handler until the one Direct Air installed. He then suggested I may not be keeping up with maintenance. I requested a manager, who then came came out a couple days later to also look at the unit; he kept mentioning that they weren't mold experts and can't know for sure if it was mold or not. I kept asking if air leakage is normal all around the unit as well as the visible condensation on the outside of the unit. He could not give me an answer to this but would not agree that a bad initial installation by Direct Air could be the cause of the interior and exterior issues. He too could only offer me routine cleaning services for over $1500, which I respectfully declined. I'm not an AC expert, yet every AC technician I've called from other companies have had a shocked reaction to seeing the air handler and says it was not installed properly. I just wanted to share my experience. I'm now looking for an AC company that can fix or possible even install another new air handler, which would be a shame after only 3 years of having this one.

This was the fan on my AC unit!! Now its been replaced :) thanks to Direct Air

Why do emergencies always happen on weekends and holidays???…read more The Friday after Christmas I was awakened early morning to a plea from my downstairs neighbor..... apparently something in my bathroom was leaking through to their bathroom ceiling!!! What a mess! Who knew what lurked below the surface?????? Fortunately, Acosta Plumbing answered my frantic phone call. AP Office manager Nicole responded with concerned understanding of the [emergency] situation. Frank Acosta himself was at my home within an hour to assess the issue with my building's management and engineer. Everyone got 'on the same page' to resolve the problem and a schedule was implemented. Acosta Plumbing took care of everything INCLUDING the Permit process. We each had jobs to do and accomplish. My job between Christmas and the first week post-New Year's was to find replacement tile for the shower base which did not require 10-12 weeks delivery along with possible Tariffs and delays AND would coordinate with the rest of the bathroom design. During the holidays, many business are closed. A challenge, indeed. Plus I did not want to inconvenience my neighbor for longer than absolutely necessary. Finally all the pieces of the puzzle were assembled and the AP team did its magic! Acosta Plumbing is TEN-Star!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fabulous Team of Professionals!!!!!!!

Do not waste your time with Acosta Plumbing Service. They are rude and unprofessional. By email,…read moreI asked Frank Acosta if he could install the toilet seat that I bought for the quoted price and he never provided an answer. Later, I sent him a second email asking if he did the snake through the toilet and he, again, did not respond. I called his office and when the receptionist answered the phone, I explained to her that I had received a quote from Frank Acosta but that I needed to know if the snake could be done from the toilet, instead of the roof, because I have a new clay roof and I am concerned about the possibility of breaking the clay tiles. The first thing the receptionist said was that "she had spoken to Frank about me." That was very strange because I had never called their office. I had communicated by email and on Yelp. But, I chose to ignore it. Then, she said that she was not a plumber so she could not answer my question but that she guessed that it would be done however it needed to be done. That was of absolutely no help to me. I explained to her that I understood that since she is not a plumber she is unable to give me an answer. I, further, explained that I had sent Frank Acosta the question by email and on Yelp and that I was following up by calling with the idea that if he doesn't check his emails regularly, she could relay my question to him. The receptionist must have told me four or five times that she was not a plumber even though I did not express any desire in wanting her to take up the role of a plumber and I explained that very clearly to her. I was calling to have her take my message down and pass it on to Frank Acosta or whatever other plumber could address my question. Soon my brief and unsettling interaction with the receptionist was over and the call ended. But, I felt a discomfort because the receptionist had acted in a very aggressive manner and quite unprofessionally and I had said absolutely nothing to cause her to act that way. Furthermore, her initial comment of how "she had spoken to Frank Acosta about me" creeped back into my consciousness and it was much more meaningful now. I had never spoken to her before, so, she had no reason to speak to Frank Acosta about me, but, had Frank Acosta spoken to her about me and why would he do so? I needed to address that because I couldn't afford to keep waiting on a plumber that had not answered the simple questions that I sent him by email and, also, on Yelp. So, I called again and after many rings, the receptionist finally answers the phone. I explained that I was calling back because I had taken notice of her harsh attitude towards me during our brief conversation. I told her that without any provocation on my part, she had been very rude to me. I didn't get a chance to ask the receptionist why she had been so rude with me because she disconnected the call before I had a chance to ask her. But, I encourage customers not to call Acosta Plumbing Service. They don't return messages requesting relevant and necessary information and on top of that they have a very rude and unprofessional secretary who, unfortunately, is being allowed to act that way because the owners of the business are also rude and unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and don't hire Acosta Plumbing Service.
