Horrible experience. I phoned to get the ball rolling on repairing my auto's damage. This company was the only one in the area that had a direct affiliation with my insurance company, so I started there. I spoke with Chris who was bad-tempered, impatient and not helpful. I was trying to understand the process as he was explaining it, i.e., it would take sooo much longer than my insurance estimate and have sooo much more damage than the photos would show, so I could not gauge how long they would have my vehicle (which was something I need to know as I travel for work). When I told him this, that I needed to plan around my schedule, He ended up telling me I should just go somewhere else and hung up on me. My family visited UVM about a week ago, and while parking in Burlington, I went too far with my Sonata and the curb pulled out my front bumper. I googled an auto body place and found Direct. Within two minutes, a guy came out, looked at the car, diagnosed what needed to be done, and put in a temporary fix to get us home safely. He didn't accept a nickel. Direct Auto Body had the lowest quote for a window replacement after someone smashed a rock through it. They were quick and courteous and very responsive via phone and email. When I got my car back, they had thoroughly cleaned out all of the glass that had gotten into all front seats and back as well. A recent little windshield crack turned into a BIG windshield crack, so I went over to these guys for a quote after seeing their great reviews. They were so professional and kind that I didn't even consider going anywhere else. They gave me a detailed quote, were able to see me within 2 days, fixed my windshield perfectly, and even gave me a shuttle ride to work. After having my brand new car backed into my driver side door needed some loving! It was well over due...I mean it was only 5 months old you know? Its brand new 2012 feel went away QUICK after that! Then I found Direct Auto Body! They got my new Chevy Cruze Evo back to looking brand new again! They took my car in on a Monday and said they needed it for 4-5 days for the work, I had them order all of the parts before dropping it off for its service. Parts made it there in 1 day! I was impressed. After dropping the car off their shuttle took me to work! (They open at 7:30 and I got there as they open.) So it was an easy drop off! After a few days I had gotten a call from their service manager letting me know my car would be ready for the next day. In my book thats great customer service! It allowed me to setup a ride from one of the guys that I work with! If I didn't have a ride they could have had their shuttle pick me up. It was just easier to get a ride from a co-worker. My car was done by early Thursday afternoon. The pick up was easy as well! They washed, waxed, and even cleaned out the inside for me! So it was worth the extra 5-10 minutes! When I went outside the car looks brand new again! I was able to get back to cruising in new car once again! Great GM body shop! read more

If I could take stars away, I would. I brought my van here at Geico's recommendation. After 2 weeks, I came to pick the vehicle up the first time, I could tell things were off; the panels didn't line up, the headlight was off kilter, there were bubbles in the paint around my bumper sensors and they didn't sand the clearcoat where the bumper skin meets the fender. Geico advised me to send it back through the shop for a re-do. Two weeks later, I arrive to get my van, again, and all the same issues were present. Direct told me Geico approved this work as being complete and they were not going to help me any further. With the shop manager, David Yergeau going as far as yelling at me in the waiting room, calling me unreasonable and making excuses for his shop's horrible work and telling me to leave because he was closing. After going through several levels of Geico field reps and managers, they told me to bring it to any shop I want and they will take care of it. Upon arrival at the alternative shop, I explained my situation but left out specifics of what I felt the other shop did poorly. I asked them to look it over and tell me what they saw. They not only noticed everything listed above, but also noticed mismatched paint, a bent hood bracket and a few other items not repaired under the fender. So I agreed to bring it to them so they could correct everything Direct Auto Body did wrong. During the supplement, where the other shop took everything apart and really start to look, they discovered Direct Auto Body drilled into my corner brace and 'straightened' it out, poorly, leaving it out of its original shape with a multitude of holes through it. The corner brace is a major component of the frame that assists in crumple zone protection. With that part compromised, my family was at risk if we were in another accident. The damage that Direct caused during their so called 'repair' of my van's corner brace was so dangerous, combined with the fact that it is a Geico 'Express' facility, caused Geico to purchase my van from me for 61% over its book value in order to save face. If I brought my van to a reputable shop, it never would have been totaled. The poor work that Direct Auto Body did to my van caused Geico to declare it a total loss. Unless you want your family in a poorly repaired, unsafe vehicle, I would run fast and far from Direct Auto Body. read more

After Direct Auto Body repaired the front end of our vehicle, we continued to have obvious problems. Going over a speed bump would generate a loud banging noise in the front end. Our auto dealer confirmed that the after-market parts installed by Direct Auto Body were defective. A different body shop confirmed that as well. Because insurance had already paid for repairs, we had to buy new parts at our expense. Direct Auto Body also kept the car for several weeks because they had difficulty finding parts. read more

These guys are consummate professionals. They did a great job fixing my old car last summer, gave me more than reasonable prices and were super attentive. They finally got what turned out to be cement off of the hood and doors of my current car but to get it off of the hood they had to go through multiple layers of the paint and when I went to pick it up the sales person (Mark) that was helping me seemed way more torn up about it than I was, gave me great piece of mind in that it shows they really do care. They didn't even charge me for the labor or anything and said they would try to get the entire hood repainted by Saturday. Losing a long time customer. I've held off for a couple months in hopes some agreement could be reached. In September I had my headliner replaced, because the original had been damaged from a car wash hitting the antenna and breaking a seal. I made the appointment, and direct auto body would deal with my insurance company directly, so I thought "what an easy chore". I dropped the car off and they had it for three days. I received the call it was done and during my dinner break went to pick it up. I paid my deductible and then went to get the car. Before I left the business, I took a look over the work done. The antenna damage had dented the roof and they were going to correct that. Well, that's where the issue began. They apparently painted and put on a new antenna, but the dent was still there. When I asked about it I was told, it must have returned when they tightened the new antenna down, but they did remove the goop that had been the temp fix to hold out water leaking in. Being as I had to get back to work, I took the vehicle and began driving, then I looked up at the sunroof and noticed how misshapen and dirty the "new" headliner was. I called Direct Auto Body from the car and got their email contact to send pictures of the damage to. I did send them and a day later I heard back that they would clean it. When I took it bank I asked about the damage of the misshapen area around the sun roof. They took a couple pictures and sent them to the Honda dealer for warranty inquiry. Direct Auto Body then stated "it's normal". I called my insurance company and did a lot of leg work, they had an independent adjuster come look, I went to the dealer that provided the headliner. Both of them acknowledged that the headliner wasn't right. The dealer sent a letter saying that the headliner was damaged during installation, but Direct Auto Body denies this. My insurance company can't help me because it occurred in the process of repair and they don't warranty, but they pay for the labor for the job whether it's good or bad. However, they tell me they won't encourage their clients to use this business. So, that's my story. I read many great reviews and I had been going here for about 10 years with my last three vehicles, but because of this I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I have been here twice now, both times to fix what the (out of state) primary body shops did not do properly the first time around. The staff are friendly and professional; they take the time to listen to your concerns and answer any questions you might have. They are also upfront about the work they plan on doing, and inform you of anything that they find that was unexpected. Then they check with you to see how you want to proceed before attempting any work. All in all, I am pretty satisfied with the work they have done with my car and appreciate the transparency of the process and the quality of their work. My daughter had an accident that rendered the car undrivable. I live out of state, found Direct Auto on Yelp!, and instructed the tow company to tow the car there rather than to their own lot. They made sure my daughter got a ride home. A few days later, the car was deemed a total loss by my insurance company. With their permission, I wanted to swap the stock tires and rims back onto the car so I could re-use the snow tires on a replacement vehicle. I contacted Direct Auto, and when I arrived with the other set of tires, they took care of me promptly, and helped me access the custom stereo as well, so that I could begin my trip home. Marc and the rest of the team were most helpful and friendly A side note--don't ever let a tow company take it to their lot. Automatic double tow, plus I never would have been able to do this without the tools available at the shop. Over the last few years, we've needed their help a few times on big and small jobs and they always impress us with their friendly, professional and prompt service. We have a 2000 Chrysler Voyager and our daughter's 1998 Honda Civic. By the way, whenever I'm there, I see all makes, new and old.
