Sean came in with a bid that was significantly lower than his competion, so we went them Global Direct. WHAT A MISTAKE! They are horrible and dishonest. They hire incompetent subcontractors. They lost one of my cartons and refused to look for it. The owner, Sean Alford is insulting, harassing, and incompetent. I am 70 years old and moved to another country. They have no respect. They only provide "catastrophic" loss insurance so even when they lose a palletized carton, unless everything is lost, you get nothing. I lost heirlooms and electronic equipment. I paid them and they refused to provide me with a receipt. They called me and my friends liars and that we didn't actually give them the missing carton. They are horrible. This company is bunch of two totally unprofessional, arrogant and rude named Sean and Victor. I booked 40 feet container with them and they gave me very good quote (only good thing they did). After that I deposited 25% for shipping on 28th of the June and only after submitting deposit, they told me they can not book on 28th June due to congestion and next available date is 20th of July. They told me that container driver will give me a call on 19th and container will be arriving at 9 a.m. next day. I reserved the local loaders on hourly basis but neither I got call from container driver and nor these two guys replying to any of my call or emails. On 20th of July at 10:00 a.m. they told me container is not coming and they will book for 12th of August with new price. I asked them for refund as clearly mentioned in terms and conditions "Deposits are non-refundable 3 days prior to pick up date. If the customer needs to cancel in this timeframe no refund will be offered". In my case there is no pickup date for next 3 days and even after 3 days but they arrogantly refused. I have filed complained in FMC and have meeting with attorney after couple of days. read more

People I want you to be aware of Direct Global Shipping. First, they are not direct shippers but intermediaries. Do not make a contract with the, after you sign a contract with them and they got their money, their abuses of Surcharges (just after two weeks, in 2019) started. This is before the inflation spree starts. Then I drove my car, which they were suppose to do, to Galveston TX and they did not even thanked me for it, beside, they charged me for paying the intermediary to take my car to Galveston Port, because they have the license to do it. But in the Contract with Global Direct Shipping, they are suppose to pay of this service, not the customer. Then the charged me for processing the Title of the Car paper while handed it over Car Title the intermediary in Galveston. Meanwhile, they charged me with a supplement, $700 only within two weeks. For what, not reason given. Then they tried to charge me for paying with the credit card, while I wired transfer the money to them! Meanwhile, they did not send the Bill of Landing to the car receiving company in Spain. So I was stock in Barcelona, paying for hotel and expenses while they are paying no attention to my request for the Bill of Landing ( the money was sent to them two (2) weeks before that, for shipping the car). Meanwhile, instead of paying 180 euros, to the receiving company in Barcelnoa, I paid 800 euros because of delays and their charge of communincating with NON existing executive. Meanwhile, Mr . Sean, the incompetent executive ( he even sent the incorrect shipping document for the household items to the Los Angeles transportation company, another fiasco). They do not answer the customer and could care less, once they are paid. So we got out of Barcelona, after a weeks pay of the hotel and extra expenses. Then waiting and waiting for the household items to arrive. It was promised to be in Spain in three months. It took them 10 months! Meanwhile they are playing with me between the two player there. I do not have your file, he has it, "oh he is out of office,". "No, no, I don't have it he has it". " He is not available, he is on lunch". Mean Excecutive Sean (!) neglects my household items so long that even the storage company does not answer his emails or his calls. The Global group even refused to tell me where my household items are. They would not answer. Meanwhile international telephone cost from Spain going up and up every month trying to get an answer from Global. Then MR. Incompetent changes the volume on the of the merchandise to charge me more for the shipping after 9 months. Then he send the merchandise to Holland instead of agreed upon Spain. On the top of that I had to pay another surcharge for the intermediary in Rotterdom to send the household item from Holland to Spain. For nine months I had to live with bare minimum while they were running around and lying. Then the merchandise arrives in broken boxes while they insisted that it has to be "platized". It costed me more than $4000 on the shipping of the car and my household items that they over charged me. (the household items had also surcharges on the top of surcharges). I made a mistake and rushed and put my initial and one of contract item that if there is dispute, it has to be in Florida courts not where you are at. I am still finding ways to recuperate my money from them. Horror Movie that never ended Around November 2021 I contact Direct Global Shipping (DGS) to get estimate to ship some furniture from Upper Marlboro, Maryland to Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. Based on my description of the furniture they estimated that the cost would be around $2,536. I accepted the offered and scheduled pick up for 11/30/2021. On the day before pickup, DGS contacted me and told me that they did a miscalculation on the estimate and the cost would be $1,000 more (now $3,536). Thinking that the initial estimate was low, and the new estimate was still reasonable within my budget, I went ahead and accepted the offer with the understanding that the shipping will include door to door shipping from Maryland to Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. The furniture was picked up on 11/30/2021 and the movers hired by DGS (Von Paris) were very professional. Once my shipment was picked up, I let a few (4-5) weeks go by and contacted DGS about status of my shipment. I called several times and was not able to talk to anyone and my voice messages and text were ignored for several days. I ended up calling the movers hired by DGS (Von Paris) that picked up my furniture and asked them if they knew anything about my shipment. They told me that that they sent information to DGS and was waiting for furniture to be picked up by carrier. After going back and forth with DGS and almost 2 months had gone by, my shipment finally made it to the port in Puerto Rico. Final cost was another $693 for total cost of $4,229. Then horror continues as the carrier in Puerto Rico called me and told me that they do not deliver furniture to the house, and I would have to pick it up at the port. I called DGS and they seem to resolve that issue, but now the carrier in Puerto Rico told me that they would deliver to the house, but I would need people to unload the truck as they don't do that, and this was always a problem of DGS not telling their customers. I again contact DGS, and they told me that yeah, the delivery was door to door but they don't unload it at the destination. I was now getting very upset as this didn't make any sense and DGS didn't seem to clearly inform me that this was the case. In addition, the email I received from them stated that the shipment would include the following: * Door to Door Service (LCL) * Mover Wrapping & Protecting Furniture (Boxes Pre packed by Shipper) * Movers Pick Up from Residence & Delivery to Shipping Terminal * Ocean Freight Charges * Palletizing of Shipment * File Processing For US Customs * Delivery to Destination Residence & Removal of Debris * Origin & Destination Customs Clearance * Origin & Destination THC (Terminal Handling Charge) So, I ended up speaking to the truck driver delivering the furniture and ask him to bring some help that I would pay for them to unload the truck which cost me another $300 so now the total shipping cost was up to $4,529 (~$2,000 more of the initial estimate). My final thought is when it comes to shipping your furniture stay away from DGS specially if you're shipping outside the USA. I would never ever used them again. If you do use them, make sure you get everything in writing, even the smallest detail. read more

Please stay clear of Direct Global Shipping! We were given a total price of $10590.00 to move from Arizona to Belize via Long Beach. Suddenly our container was pulled by US Customs and held for over 2 weeks. Apparently Sean Alford, Owner, knew this was a difficult port but never mentioned it to us. It cost us another $2500.00 to get it back to the ship and now Direct Global Shipping wants another $119.36 Gate Fee plus $50.00 admin fee or they won't release our container. These additional charges should have been part of the original fee. How else does it get on the ship? read more
