Ok, I'm gonna attempt another review and see if they leave this one up, since Direct Repair decided to have my first one removed. I went in to this place based on recommendations from a few co-workers saying its a somewhat sketchy place with prices based on who is working, but that they were fast and will fix phones within 1 hour. I figured I'll go in and repair my screen on my iPhone temporary for $75-85 until I upgrade it for a new one. One of my co-workers had his screen cracked and LCD and payed $75. 1 month later he dropped it again and went back but this time they quoted him $100 for the same service. Taken little back, he asked why it wouldn't be the same price as last time? Their response - We've never fixed something for that low and you must have mixed up the price. So he provided a copy of the receipt and they quickly realized their rude behavior and offered to match the price. So I knew something similar would be possible but still went in even though I had been warned. I go in and right off the bat they try to give me an excuse a long the lines of - It's severely damaged and its not a normal repair, so it's gonna cost you $130! I tell them that's the same Apple charges and this place have fixed phones for several people I know for under $100. But all they say is that can't be possible and $100 is the lowest. Not going to give in to their tactics I leave and have my phone repaired somewhere else. And when I decided to write a review on their shady behavior they decided to take it down. It's easy to have a perfect review profile when you decide to deleted negative ones posted on your site. Good luck staying in business guys, but words travel fast and I work in a place nearby where I constantly meet people and would happily recommend them but guess I'll tell people to go direct to Apple and get their money's worth read more

HIGHLY DISSATISFIED. I decided to take my iphone 4s with a cracked screen here because of it's wonderful yelp reviews back in June of 2013. I bought the coupon from here & was satisfied at first until a few days later the screen went black. So I read around online to find out whether or not I would need to buy a new phone, turns out it was just an improperly connected screen. So i took it back and they fixed it- within days yet again my phone's screen had gone black. I had to bring my phone back for the 3rd time for them to finally put another new screen on it and connect it properly. I was almost certain the entire ordeal was over until today my phones screen went black again- two months later. I've decided to give up on this place and find someone more professional as I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing my phone in for the 4th time here for the exact same problem. Horrible. read more

Went in to for an iPhone 6S screen repair after I dropped it a couple of days ago and they were able to replace the screen in about 30 minutes! Did an excellent job. The dreaded cracked phone finally happened to me. First thing in the morning. I was half asleep and BOOM. RUINED. Not cool. Quickly ran to yelp. Found a deal with this company that looked cheaper than the rest and the reviews were good. I called and they said to come on in. I dropped it off and walked to the bookstore next door to relax for a few. Within 30 minutes it was done. That was about a month ago and everything is working great. iPhone 6s screen cracked then accidentally fell in sink with running water. The screen went black and I couldn't tell if it was on or not. My phone was broken for over a week because there weren't any available appointments at apple to fix it. I was going to go to this other place to get it fixed but they said they didn't have any screens for 6s and they would contact me back. They never did. With direct repair I simply called to see if it would be busy he said I could just walk in. I did just that and got my phone fixed in 20ish minutes. Phone feels brand new. Very impressed. I visited these guys because Verizon Asurion needed 5 days to get to me (or wanted me to drive to Evanston for a repair), was going to charge a deductible, and required endless forms and confusing website visits. I dropped my phone on the sidewalk and shattered the screen. Two different people recommended this place to get it fixed. I saw the coupon through Yelp and went in a few days later. The service was really fast (30 minutes) and straightforward. The guy even helped me out and put my new screen cover on (much straighter than I could have and no bubbles). I went in because of the sign that advertised iPhone unlocking not to get a shattered screen fixed (which to be fair from reading the other reviews seems to be their strength). I have an old iPhone 4S from when I lived in Europe. And I'm lazy & didn't want to deal with my old carrier to unlock the phone, so I was hoping these guys would be my solution. Alas, that was not the case. It seems like they are only comfortable unlocking AT&T iPhones. Which seems like a useless service to offer, since a newborn baby/anyone who knows how to Google could figure out how to unlock an AT&T iPhone. read more

SO THANKFUL for Direct Repair!! When I spilled liquid on my new MacBook over a year ago, Apple quoted me $800 for a new logic board. My laptop sat in my closet for over a year because I didn't have the funds to get it fixed. As a new small business owner, I needed a laptop. In a last effort before purchasing a new one, I contacted few companies for a quote to replace my logic board. Direct Repair quoted me less than $500!! But it gets even better. When I called to ask about scheduling my repair, they mentioned that Apple automatically says its the logic board when liquid is involved even if it's not the case. They were able to repair my MacBook Pro for $325!! Less than HALF of what Apple wanted to change me. AND IT WASN'T EVEN THE LOGIC BOARD. A new keyboard and a new hard drive and my laptop is as good as new. I will never take a device needing repairs anywhere else. read more

I'm sorry to have to write a negative review for this business. I brought in my Asus TF300T Transformer tablet into this business a few weeks ago. I brought it in because of a cracked glass front. They told me the replacement glass with labor would be $125. After about a week I received a call from them saying the glass was replaced but you no longer can touch the screen to make the tablet work. Now when I brought in the tablet in and yes it had a crack in the corner of the screen but you could still get it to work by touching it except for the area of the broken glass. After three weeks of letting them have the time to correct their mistake, I found they either never figured out how to fix it nor sent it out to have it fixed. On my way home I thought, at least I have the docking keyboard and probably will be able to use it that way. When I tried it with the docking keyboard everything went haywire and wouldn't work correctly. This would make me think that something is either shorting out or not fully connected. It's a shame because I love giving small business my business to help them grow but now I now own a two pound door stop. If you never worked on a tablet like this before maybe you shouldn't have accepted it. Obviously something went wrong during the install of this glass. This tablet is not a kids toy by any means...it's an important part of my business outside of my home. It's a quad-core processor with up to 128 gig of memory with a optional docking keyboard allowing it 15 hours of battery life. It also allows me real-time access to my business computer and servers from anywhere around the world with the Splashtop 2 app. I just don't want this to happen to someone else with the same type of tablet and to have these same problems in the future. It pains me to have to write this review and to next have to contact the Better Business Bureau for a solution. read more

Dropped my phone on my way home from work dowtown. Screen was not cracked, but was blacked out, even though the phone itself was still working (I was playing music). Soon as I got home I yelped "iphone repair" and this is the first place that came up. Urgent to get it taken care of, I called and went right in about 15 min later. The guy I gave my phone to took it apart, put it back together, and the screen worked fine again. Didn't charge me a dime. I owe 'em a good review. Will be back for any future issues. read more

This place is amazing!! I broke my SD card slot when I dropped my phone, and could not see any of my pictures or use my camera to take pictures. I walked in and they fixed it within 10 minutes FREE OF CHARGE. Even when I offered to pay, they would not take my money. This is how you run a business. Last week I made the grave mistake of spilling water on my MacBook. I went to Apple and got the standard $755 repair quote that, judging from the Apple Forums, is the amount they give for all water damaged laptops, regardless of what is actually wrong with them, as a ploy to get you to just buy a new one because, after all (they will tell you so), $755 is 3/4 of the price of a new laptop. I thought this was BS so I called around. First I called Lapin and was told they charge $80 just to diagnose the issue! That was ridiculous so I called Direct Repair next and was very pleased to hear that the diagnostic was free. I dropped my laptop off on Saturday afternoon, Sunday they were closed, and Monday I had my laptop back in working condition for $655 less than Apple's BS price tag. I will update if my computer totally crashes sometime in the near future without me being the cause, but so far, I would highly recommend this place! read more

It's minimalist here, but they totally helped me out when I left my macbook power adapter at home. They were open after 6pm, when I needed them. These guys are amazing -- and I say that even though they couldn't fix my phone! I brought in a water-damaged iPhone and within ten minutes they had diagnosed what was wrong with it and walked me through the process to repair it. They promised they would try a few different things to fix it, and return it to me within 24 hours. If they succeeded, it would cost $80, and if they failed it would be free. Unfortunately they couldn't fix it -- it probably just wasn't fixable -- but the customer service was incredible and they were extremely nice through the whole process. After returning my phone they explained exactly what the Apple store could do for me, how much it would cost, and how to get there. I offered to pay them for all their work and they wouldn't take it. This place was ok... they fixed my screen alright... but then the next day my phone wouldn't charge and also kept turning on and off by itself. After bringing the phone back 2-3 times and waiting for almost an hour each time, I discovered that I would have to get a new phone (My phone also wasn't backed up which was stupid on my part, but i lost ALL my info... not a happy camper). The owner was nice enough to drive me to the nearest Apple Store- and they (Apple) replaced it for free. But who knows what would've happened if my warranty on my phone had been up.
