NIGHTMARE!!! I called and upgraded our service and equipment. They sent out the equipment and scheduled a technician to come out and hook everything up. Long story short. Guy couldn't hook it all up. Something with the terminology in the paperwork. Said I had to call att back to reschedule. After several phone calls to people that couldn't speak or understand English and 4 hours of this. They rescheduled another technician. 2nd guy shows up and same dang thing. I'm calling att and trying to explain and I get disconnected because it's overseas and nobody knows what's going on. You would think ATT had there stuff together but dealing with people overseas is terrible. Will probably go to dish. read more

Do NOT get Direct TV. I signed up for one connection for the one TV I own and when tech showed up he said I'd signed up for three. That took me getting on the phone to cancel the two extra. Ugh. The lag when you change channels is ridiculous. Like several seconds. Then it goes black for no reason for 10-15 seconds. It feels like several minutes! Ughhhhhhh. No wonder they MAKE you sign a TWO YEAR contract. Because I would cancel tomorrow. I am SO SORRY I signed on to this horrid slow tv service. As time goes by I hate Direct TV more and more. Terrible customer service. My phone bill on my TV, internet and phone service combo went up so I called to inquire. They said that my promotion ran out. I asked them to reinstate the promotion which they said they would but kept me on the phone for 60 minutes, putting me on hold for extended periods of time. Then they said someone would call me back. I waited at home several hours. Another person finally called me back and promised that they would offer me a better promotion and transferred me to another person. When the next customer service person answered, they were completely clueless about my issue and I had to start the inquiry all over again. That's 90 minutes spent on the phone with no results. It looks to me like the company does not care about customer service. There is s lot of hype in marketing and much deceptive advertising to entice customers. I'm currently researching other companies. Too bad we have limited choices. I highly recommend that people express interest in other companies that may not be in the area yet but take requests and petitions of interests to see how many potential customers they may have before they commit their resources to a particular service area. The more people that do that, the more options we will have as customers. Competition in the marketplace will drive prices down and improve customer service as companies will have to work harder to retain customer loyalty. I wish I could give zero stars. Direct TV is a joke. My husband and I wanted to switch just to give them a try, the rates were appealing. Biggest mistake we have ever made!!!!! It's been 3 weeks and still no Direct TV. The first week no one showed up, the second week they did not bring a ladder big enough to get on a two story house, the third time they showed up after the time they quoted and no one was home. When I called costumer service the lady was unbelievable rude and acted as if it was my fault this happened. We recently moved from San Antonio to Pipe Creek so we had to switch from. Uverse to Direct TV. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THEIR SERVICE. We have been in the new house for a couple weeks and it is already failing. The TV kept freezing up. I called them last Thursday night to get this fixed. After re-setting their boxes about 10 times each, their solution is a service call. They can't get anyone out here until the 16th. I guess we are expect to sit around here and do shadow puppets until they decide to do their job. It is not a new install, it is an outage. What kind of customer service is that? Had a CONFIRMED service appointment for Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 12-4pm. I have the confirmation email from them stating exactly that time. I waited at home for the 4 hour window. They did not show up, did not call, did not text, and did not email me to let me know they could not make it. Then tonight (Sunday, December 4) I received an automated confirmation call for an appointment tomorrow on Monday, December 5, 2016! Apparently they just reschedule whenever they want. BE AWARE! First let me say, this review is NOT reflective of the tech support team (employees in the trucks) here in Pensacola. In fact, I feel confident that Field Supervisors, Joe Fink and Mike Franklin did everything they could on multiple occasions to get my system to work but were unable to do this. That being said, if you are considering DIRECTV service or any satellite service you may want to consider the following things I learned and experienced with my contract period with DIRECTV: *Your service will NOT work in thick cloud cover such as a thunderstorm DISPITE what they may tell you (even if you change the resolution settings, as they will suggest you do when you call in with this issue).*If you have more than 4 TVs in your home you will HAVE to have another HD receiver box of which you will pay MUCH extra for, not to mention that EVERY TV in the house will have a outlet fee of around $5.00 or more for EACH and will need additional "client" receivers *If you add or upgrade equipment such as a receiver or "client" they will start your 2-year contract all over again! It will RESET your agreement date. *If you want to see recorded TV from additional receivers other than the main "Genie", which are supposed to share programing, you may find like I did, that you may run into a networking issues causing your recorded programs to freeze while you are watching it and may not get to see the entire show. (This was VERY frustrating). DIRECTV was UNABLE to fix this problem after nearly 20 visits to my home over the 2-year period I had them. I spent a LOT of time wasted having to be home while they tried to correct issues over the 2-year period I had them. *They have NO local offices in most locations! You will have to do everything by phone, Internet and by mail unless they have repair items and purchased equipment items on the service trucks. *If you have built in DIRECTV (RVU) receivers inside your newer TV, it doesn't work well with the Genie like it is supposed to. (This equipment is called "RVU" and you may find it listed as a feature on your newer TV and supposed to allow networking without an additional receiver for that TV). We had to go ahead and install "clients" on each additional TV in order to network. I have several Samsung TVs that have this newer equipment feature built in but it proved useless). As I said earlier, you are going to pay a fee anyhow for each TV so better to go ahead and have a "client" receiver on each additional TV that does not have a primary receiver if you want decent reception with noticeably less problems. - All in all, aside from the items I mentioned above, I DID like the remote and how DIRECTV is navigated. Though the optional Harmony remote was far superior. They will not however, program the Harmony for you. The DIRECTV system has some function-ability that is superior to COX cable. Another positive is that DIRECTV's receivers (and especially the "clients") are MUCH smaller than those at COX. This is a real plus if your TV is hung on a wall. You can hide the client receiver behind the TV instead of another clunky box on your dresser. Make sure you have the "RF" remotes so that the receivers can see the remote. Regarding overall cost, I found DIRECTV to be really expensive if you wanted several premium channels AND have more than the Genie's 4 additional TV capability. Be aware of the teaser rate in the beginning, but after 3 months you may see parts of your bill going up. The difference here is that DIRECTV requires a 2-year contact and COX does not. You may however get a better rate if you do sign a period agreement with a cable provider. (Not sure about AT&T U-verse) You have to review your bill every 3 months and CHECK your billing statement closely.- Lastly, when I disconnected and sent their equipment back I had a billing credit of $166.50 due to me. I was told I would get that back. Today I got a refund on a Visa Debit Card in the amount of $67.88 (only). I called and they say THEY made a mistake even though the $166.50 IS what was reflected on my final billing statement. I was told I would have to file an appeal online with DIRECTV and they will make a decision whether to pay me or not. I am pissed! As far as I am concerned, this is fraud! Now I will spend HOURS again trying to get my credit of $98.68 that is due. - I now have COX and they are no shinning star either, but unless you go to Air Antenna and start "streaming", it's the only choice we have as AT&T U-Verse is not an option in our part of town and to be honest I'm sure they have their issues too, but they never screwed me out of money that was due in a refund. (Yet) I will be posting about COX CABLE after I give them a chance. If you are a techie or know one, consider streaming TV. I need to do the same. Worst customer service ever having a problem with their equipment not working. Called customer service 4 times and putting up with someone with a strong accent having to constantly ask to replete what they are trying to explain very aggravating. Then to hear them tell you to get a technician to come check the equipment will cost $99.00 or pay an extra $8.00 more a month for service protection is pure extortion or close to blackmail. I have been on the phone with AT&T five times in the last week and a half a total of about six hours of talking. I am a new customer that was promised the world and didn't get one thing (Cannot even get a correct installation date). It was supposed to be hooked up on 07-01-16 nobody showed called them then it was set for 06-06-16 no shows again. So called them and then they say tomorrow between 9 and 11. Ok, then called to make a complaint and they do not show me on schedule till next week (WHAT THE HELL). This company is full of nothing but promises and lies and don't dare to ask to speak with a MANAGER they will just keep you on hold or transfer you somewhere else. This is the 4th time they said someone will be be here to help me and nothing !!! They schedule too many people in a 4 hour window and can't complete the appointments. Never had problems with Dish - only switched because we were offered a $250.00 reward card for being existing AT&T customers. 2 months laters - they now cannot find that offer and have no record of that offer existing. Terrible customer service, most calls are routed through a foreign agency with people who read from a script instead of holding a conversation. Service representatives are not helpful, and seem to use the transfer button frequently until someone finally just disconnects the call. Called Directv who now said my appt was moved to 9/12 - one week after first scheduled install. Reason told to me was that they did not want a missed appt on their record. How can I go from the top of the install list to the bottom, they would not answer other than to say they are sorry. Been an AT&T Phone, Cell, Internet customer since 1983, that is about to change since this is totally not tolerable. Since I worked in the industry I know the games and this is ONE OF THE WORST. DirecTV has to be one of the most predatory companies I've done business with. I would recommend never using them. Here are the highlights on why their customer service is terrible: - They extended my contract a year and a half ago without making it clear. The extension supposedly subsidized the receiver that I paid $99 up front for (another reason I wouldn't have thought my contract was extended). I would not have agreed to pay $99 for a receiver if I knew it was going to extend my contract too. - Last week, I contacted their cancellation department about cancelling or getting a better deal now that my bill went up to the undiscounted rate (granted... this seems to be normal for all cable companies). I stated that I was interested in renewing the contract if I could get a good price or I was going to shop around. Despite talking about my contract being expired and what rates I would get if I renewed, I didn't explicitly state "Is my contract over?" or "When does my contract end?" - This is where I feel it was particularly predatory... You cannot find your contract term anywhere on the website or in the billing statement. You cannot even find when the contract started in any of the online documents. As I was told by a supervisor, you have to call up and get the right department (apparently not the cancellation department) and ask the questions above outright. I was told, if you don't get the right department, they apparently can't look it up (despite the fact that the cancellation rep had no trouble tonight telling me my contract dates). If I go to any other company that I have a contract with, I can easily look up my contract term or how many payments I have left. There is absolutely no technical reason this cannot be done by DirecTV. I can only think that they are purposely making it harder to find in order to bully customers trying to cancel their account or reap early cancellation fees. The sad thing is that despite the early termination fee, my new TV service provider is still cheaper after only two months. And they don't have any contracts. They right the deal up and when the technician arrives to hook it up they want an additional $99 for the wireless option. Sales pitch is all smoke and mirrors. Nobody ever mentioned that extra charge, not even the main office when they signed me up. The poor technician takes all the heat for the salesman. He said he drove all the way to San Marcos TX and was turned away for the same reason. I called immediately and cancelled my service. If you are an existing AT&T Uverse customer, and a man named Xavier (a Clear Satellite employee, Clear Satellite being an authorized retailer for Direct TV) comes to your door offering to switch you from Uverse to Direct TV for the bundle price of $89.99....don't believe him! In fact, shut your door and do not talk to him! He is a con artist! He came to my door wearing an AT&T shirt (giving the impression he was an AT&T employee and not a third party contractor) and talking about how he could give us faster, better service for a guaranteed lock in price of $89.99 (bundle TV/Computer/phone). At the time my husband wasn't home, so I asked Xavier to come back later. In the meantime, we called AT&T to see if his offer was "legitimate." The AT&T rep said we could get the deal for $144.99, but we weren't eligible for the $89.99 deal because we were existing AT&T customers. Just then the doorbell rang and it was Xavier. I told him "we are on the phone right now with AT&T and they said we are not eligible for this offer because we are existing customers." He said that "wasn't true" and he accused the AT&T rep of trying to "steal his sale." He then offered us 2 different $100 gift cards to switch over. I told him we had recordings on our Uverse DVR that we wanted to save (my daughter was on a local children's TV show on the local PBS affiliate for several years, and we had recorded those shows on the DVR and I didn't want to lose them.) He looked me straight in the eye and said "Oh I can transfer those recordings to the Direct TV DVR and even put them on your hard drive." My FIL has Direct TV and is very happy with it, and my husband has always wanted the NFL ticket, so we decided to make the switch. My only other concern was the satellite dish on the roof, and Xavier said it could be attached without drilling into the roof. So we set up the time for the install (which was a couple of days after). It was set up for sometime between 8-10am, and the installer technician Mark and his assistant arrived within the window at 9am (so far so good.) However, it began to go sour from there. Mark told us he would have to run a coax cable from the dish into the house (we got rid of coax cable several years ago when Uverse went wireless.) However, the side of the house where the utility and cable connections are located is heavily treed which blocks the signal. Plus the Direct Tv satellite dish DOES have to be bolted into the roof. And since we would have to put the dish on the opposite side of the roof away from the connections, a hole would have to be drilled from the outside of the house thru the wall to run the cable. I expressed my concern about the drilling because we have a brick house and I did not want the brick damaged. Mark said he would drill thru the morter between the bricks. We also called Xavier (as he had said he would be there for the install) to ask him about this (as he had led us to believe no bolts would be necessary.) Xavier said he was in a meeting with his manager but would come over by 10:30am. Since we had doubts by now, Mark told us he could just call in and cancel the work order and we would remain with Uverse. However we were paying over $200 a month for the Uverse bundle, and Direct TV would be a significant savings. We told Mark to go ahead with the install (trusting Xavier would keep his word and be over, as he had promised to transfer our recordings from the Uverse DVR to the Direct TV DVR and or hard drive.) Mark completed the install in a very professional manner, and set up the system for us. He said he would contact Xavier to let him know he was completed. We also called Xavier and left a message on his phone. He did not return our call. We called several more times and finally contacted the Clear Satellite Customer Service #. We discovered that the $89.99 "bundle" he promised us was in actuality the price for the Direct TV BY ITSELF and there would be an additional cost for the phone/internet, which would come to the $144.99 that the AT&T rep told us in the first place, and Xavier lied to us when he said we could bundle for $89.99 for 2 years. Also, he promised me he could transfer the recordings, and the tech support at Clear Satellite said that is something they do not do. Xavier told us what we wanted to hear, to make the sale. I am heartbroken now to lose the recordings. We could pull the Direct TV (they give you 24 hours to do so) but then we'd have to pay AT &T to reinstall the Uverse. We have elevated us complaints to the Manager level at Clear Satellite. Xavier should lose his commission on this sale, as he obtained it under false pretenses. My last issue with them is that their equipment (receiver) began to fail and I was the one being charged for mailing it back. I have to pay for sending back their defective equipment? This is rediculous, should not this be a pre-paid service? I am having the worst luck with customer service lately. DOES IT EXIST? I called Directtv to relocate a dish that has been in place for 2 years. My HOA stated I was in violation of the location of the dish. So I call Directtv and schedule an appoint for 6/27 between 12-4pm. I received a automated phone call at 2pm stating "They didn't forget about me and my appt was still confirmed for that day between 12-4pm". At 330pm I called Directtv and was told I did not have an appt. I asked what do you mean I don't have appt? The customer service rep chuckled and stated That is what I said, you don't have an appt. It is now 4pm and I lost it, after sitting around the house for 4 hours. I asked to speak to a supervisor and waited another 20 minutes, a supervisor did not come to the phone. The customer rep stated they would call me within 20 minutes and let me know when they would arrive. Yep, they never called. It is 26 hours later and not a peep from Direvttv. They sent me a survey and I appropriately filled it out. And they THANKED ME for my business. Wow!!!! All I want is someone to keep they word and do what they say they are going to do. read more

One hour and forty minutes on hold with DirecTV. It is a problem with their equipment. I have only been a costomer for 4 months. Their solution: 1) Pay a $50 service call. 2) enroll in a $84/yr protection plan and waive the service call fee, or 3) discontinue service at a cost of $380. These people suck! I know Time Warner sucks, but if their shit didn't work, they came and fixed it for free. This pisses me off. I did not do anything to screw up the service. First of all they ate in such a hurry to "make a sale" that they fail to ask basic questions, for instance , what is your roof made out of, how many trees in the property... The cable side is even more deplorable, for almost an hour, I tried to get information on the cable company they were trying to peddle. Basic info, they were unable to answer. Their solution was "lets get the contract drawn up, and when they get there they can answer your questions". Seriously? So I declined the cable, got set up for installation only to be told by the Poor technician that there were no way to set it up. I feel for the tech, he makes no money if there is no installation. I then tried to call direct tv. Terrible. The person that answered obviously was going of a script. Please do not tell me you know "how I feel" 5 times and you refuse to transfer me to a supervisor. This is the worst company I have EVER dealt with, period! This is the second weekend day I have waisted waiting for the install guy that does not show and does not call. 1 hour to get through to customer service, only to find out they know nothing. DirecTV is the biggest rip off. Stay with Cable. They continuously increase their prices. When you have had enough they send you a return kit for their receivers and then charge your account for the receivers until they get them back. They do not need any authorizations form the customer to charge your account for whatever they want. read more

So that myth that dish sucks in bad weather, doesn't have to be bad weather. It sucks in all weather. Internet is snail slow and randomly cuts off. All channels are repetitive and duplicates of others. There's never anything on, just infomercials. They never buried my cable the first time, then when animals chewed it they still didn't bury it asap and they knew they were suppose to, they wanted to charge me for the 3rd wire even though they didn't bury the last 2 times. The bill was suppose to be 113.00 a month. .and stay like that. It seems to fluctuate between 180-200. If you're shopping around, you're more than likely better off where you're at because more than likely you'll be stuck trying to buy yourself out of the contract early. read more

The biggest issue I have is with wind and rain. If it rains heavy you will lose your signal and with wind you will lose your signal. Before I got it I called and ask about this and was told it depended on how well it was installed. So I watched the tech install it and he told me everything was as secure as he could get it and things were fine for about 6 months but now were having problems when it rains or gets windy. I called because I paid for the protection plan and they still want to charge me to come and check the dish. I have 10 months left on my contract and theres no way I will renew it. I am very unhappy with direct tv they have been very dishonest with me they said they had 99% service reliability well I have had nothing but problems one tv would work one would not they reset over the phone and it was ok but they insisted on sending someone to look at it. they did nothing but what we already did over the phone they charged me $49.95 without ever telling me. Ohh yeah if there is so much as rain anywhere in the area or the wind blows, bam no service now they want me to pay a protection plan for there equipment that they already charge me for every month What?????? I had Direct TV services installed and was very pleased with the installation of 4 boxes. The technician was very knowledgeable and helpful in setting everything up and hadn't left until everything was tested and we gave the OK that everything was working to our expecations. read more

Poor customer service from the very moment we called to be set up as new customers. Wrong addie wrote in their systems, hubby went half a day, no pay, waiting on them, service rep calls but doesn't show, talked to 3 reps and was finally beat. I am completely disgusted on day 1 with Direct TV. When the installer arrived he advised that he would have to charge to run wiring for two TVs that had been wireless with AT&T's plan so $100.00 was paid to him for that. These new wires he added are wrapped around the outside of the house with holes drilled through the exterior walls. No jacks were installed so now there are just large holes in the walls of two rooms with big black coax cable looping around the room. I hate this company! They recently charged my card 361.35, didn't post it to my account with them and now refuse to refund me after submitting everything possible to show that the money was removed form my account! They are thiefs and tell you that you are lying! They refuse to let me speak to the finance department who i have to keep submitting my claims to! read more
