I was excited about dumping Spectrum cable/tv with this great 2 year promotion from ATT/Direct TV. No dish that goes out in bad weather now because they have a app to get dish TV through the high speed Internet. This just gets really stupid as I go so buckle up for the ride. After three hours of watching the tech go back and forth inside/outside/sub station, call the tech line, looking at boxes/connections he could not get the internet to work so another service call was scheduled. I called to confirm my call on the day and I was told she contacted the tech and he was on his way over. Two hours later no tech so I call and I'm told my service call was rescheduled, WTF how do you go from tech on the way reschedule so I said if someone is not here in an hour and get my service up and running I'm canceling, 6 hours into this now and I'm told no one is in the area so I canceled my service. ATT kept taking money from my bank which I had to put a block on and start a claim to get my money back which they did. I spent 5 hours over two months repeating canceling my serve to no avail and getting past do letters and over du bills while being told my account is canceled. Every phone call I was given a reason why it didn't get canceled and reassured it's finally cancelled over and over again. Finally I had to file a BBB claim against ATT because it's just a fuc#ing nightmare dealing with ATT. Two days later ATT office of the president called me about the BBB claim, look it up on line ATT office of president. The woman assured me after hearing my nightmare story that my account is canceled and my bill would be 0 dollars, I told her forgive me if I don't believe you because I have heard this for countless hours over two month. I have talked to their CS Reps 3 times now...called the local store...to report an open junction box near my yard that has exposed wiring....nobody gives a hoot!!!!!! My daughter has been struggling with them for three days on phone calls for several days. First ATT offered her a special rate as a "loyal customer." Then DirectTV said they are ATT also and she could sign in via them for TV and get an even better rate. It ended up with ATT cutting off her internet then BOTH ATT and DirectTV billing her. HOURS on the phone and internet is still not in, bills are still due for service she's not getting and she has been transferred from department to department with every person saying that a difference department will have to do it. I moved into a place that had an old satellite dish left on the roof from the previous tenants and called Direct TV to remove it, they said they don't remove old dishes...I think that is absolutely ridiculous. The country is covered with old dishes that are not in use. They are ugly and a form of litter...These satellite providers really should remove the old equipment.... read more

Had the worst experience today with direct tv. Had an appointment from 8am-noon no one came called 4 times finally at 530pm was told by one guy that something happened and the tech wouldn't be coming out. Was transferred 7 times I think only for the guy to tell me that the tech called and we didn't answer so didn't come......he didn't and if he called he called once and just didn't come because we didn't answer. We are moving to a new house and you are telling me me that during a move if a tech calls once with no answer they don't come? They should come to the house and check no matter what???? I'm so tired of dealing with TV providers. Decided to try this because spectrum was not good. It was easy to make install appointment online. Directv changed the appointment day/time three times without consulting us. Friday was install day. We were told to expect someone between 8 AM and noon. We were told that the driver would call before showing up because we have a dog and requested it. Plus, they should definitely be calling to give you a heads up. It's just good customer service. Well, no one called. Friday around 945am I see an unmarked work van parked in front of my house. I check my phone and no phone calls. I decide to check for the mail. I open the front door and the technician was standing there staring at me. I ask why he did not call before he showed up. He said he was only two minutes away. I told him I requested that they call because we have to lock our dog up. He said nothing he stood there and stared at me. No apologies or anything. I told him it would take me a minute to put the dog away and he went to work on the outside. The install was pretty painless. The tech left and we decided to check out our new tv service. Horrible. Bad reception. Barely any useful channels. I don't need the Scientology channel, nor do I need the Jewish channel or any other religion channel (I swear there are at least 25 religious channels). I was looking for simple things like ESPN and Fox sports network. There's all seem like such a good deal until it wasn't. In order to get the channels we want, four TV alone it would cost $198 a month plus tax. WTF?! I check Uverse and can get 500 channels (most of them useful) for $60 a month and no reception issues. We will be getting U-verse this Thursday. Stay away from DIRECTV because their reception is poor and it is a scam. read more

Hi, I had an installer come out to install service the other day. He left in the middle of the installation due to some technical issue at Directv. When I call Directv to have someone and finish the installation they refuse to complete the installation and when I tell them they need to remove the dish from my roof if they are not going to provide service they refuse to do that as well. When I ask to speak to someone in management or a consumer affairs department they refuse to transfer me. I've never experienced such horrible customer service. I experience the same thing when I try to email via the Directv website. So I am stuck with a dish on my roof and have no service and nobody will help. Does anyone have an email address or phone number directly to the corporate office where I can file a formal complaint? I have already filed a complaint with the FCC. read more

When it's working, Direct TV is great. It's when you have a technical problem that needs a service call that you're SOL!! Customer Service will attempt troubleshooting and if that doesn't work, you'll need a service call. The only problem is that service may not be able to come out for 4-5 days! LIARS, they lied to me. Let's start there. Everything was fine until our recent move from Illinois to Wisconsin. We had 100mbs internet service in Illinois that we got with the DirectTV package which we didn't want but the reduced price made sense. When we called to have our service moved, we were told it was no problem and we set up an appointment for both TV and Internet installation at our new residence. We work from home so we made sure to call ahead and the appointment was made promptly that week. When the tech arrived, he said he was only there to set up TV. So we called and "oops! Seems we made a mistake. We can get a technician out there in a week." Like I said, we work from home so that was already throwing a major wrench into things for us. As we made it through the week, waiting, when the internet tech came, he informed us that we could only get 50mbs in this area but assured me that it would be more than enough. It wasn't even close. So we called support where we were told by a tech on the phone that 50mbs was not nearly enough. So there was the first of many lies. I had to go through a different provider to get the speed I needed. And now, AT&T won't let us out of the contracted bundle. And they upped the price. The customer service Manager was rude and unhelpful. I plan to make this as public as humanly possible because this review doesn't even begin to actually detail the hell we've gone through. I have never had a problem with Direct TV the customer service is awesome, and I have never had a problem with the equipment, most problems are able to be solved via phone with the technical support crew. As far as them having a contract yeah they do but the customer service outweighs that, they also have a customer reward program that offers discounts on services,etc. About the weather issue they have ways where you can still watch, just ask about it when you order. I love Direct TV I will never go back to cable (sorry, Spectrum you are awful). read more

I do not think Directv should get any stars for performance as that would indicate they did something right. I live in northern WI and it is January. I have been a customer since 2008 and it is 2015. I have been paying $13.99 for techincal help. I did everything they asked and still I was not able to get the local tv stations. They wouldn'tsend anyone out the help. Why? Because they wanted me to confirm that there was no snow or ice on the roof. Really? This is WI in Jan. Why have I paid the extra money?? Ok, they wll get a guy out as long as I pay. Really? Avoid DirecTV at ll costs. The ONLY good thing about DirecTV is their picture & that is about where it stops. Installation was a pain the rear and took twice as long as expected. There are new fees at every turn. If their equipment is malfunctioning it is your responsibility to pay to fix it. You can avoid this by paying an additional $40/mo for their service plan which is not disclosed upfront. They are also prone to bait & switch business tactics so steer clear. They put out a flyer with Madden 25 that says "Games available via remote viewing based on device location." This is DirecTV's way of saying "Computers, phones, and tablets" only. Directv used to be a good company before they were bought by AT&T. Now their customer service is worthless. Best case scenario you are on the phone for 30 minutes, worst case one hour+. I have the protection plan which means if something like a receiver breaks, they are supposed to send you a new one at no cost. It used to take a day or two. My receiver overheated on 10/13. I have made 5 phone calls and spent more than 7 hours on the phone. Be prepared to be transferred multiple times as well as to have to confirm who you are multiple times. I have been given 4 separate shipping dates. It has been 17 days and I have received nothing. Each time they say there is an error and they fixed it and each time nothing ships. They said they deal with an outside company and there is nothing else they can do. No one is willing to try to find out why it won't ship. If you are considering directv, lets hope you never have to call them. Their lack of empathy or concern in fixing my problem tells you what kind of company you are dealing with. read more

This is "THE" worst service that I have ever had in my entire life!! If it rains out, no picture, frozen screen and if it pours out, no service at all ! If there is a snow storm, count on not having any service for days, and then a few more days until they send someone out to clean off the dish, unless you can get to your dish up on your roof to clean it off, even if it's a windy day the picture will freeze up on you all the time, and the customer service is the rudest people ever, they don't give a rats ass about your problems, probably cause they have to listen to them nonstop 24/7/365 days a year. So I signed up for Directv based on their advertisement that the equipment was free and installation was free. Then on my cc statement I discover that they charged me for it. According to customer service they never give equipment charges for free. Then why would they advertise it as such. I decided to change to Directv when I was approached at Menards one day. I wanted to say save money. I was going to be saving like 36 dollars a month. Anyway, everything went ok installation was Ok except that the installers came in and went out as these pleased. The gentleman sat on my couch as if he was lounging talking on the phone. I was really busy at work so one day I come home and ask for my internet password. My son gave me this long thing with numbers characters and letters. Im like how am I going to remember this. I called the next day to reset it to something I could remember. The woman I spoke to had me on the phone for an hour and finally she said it was done. I get home that night and again I cant log in. So I said maybe it isn't Directv maybe its my phone because im the only one with issue in the house. Nope it was SPRINT. I called Directv again and spoke with a guy that said my password hadn't been reset I still had the old one. The call was escalated to a rude woman who then hung up on me because I was mad that I couldn't connect to the internet im paying for. That same night I called SPECTRUM and apologized for leaving them. The next day I called Directv to cancel. They are charging me $480.00 for a cancellation fee when I only used partially there services for 7 days. That was only the TV part. AT&T is charging $180.00 for a cancellation fee. 7 days of unsatisfactory service and I have to pay these amounts plus those final bills... Absolutely terrible customer service. Get antenna, Roku, or anything else first. DO NOT BUY direct TV!!! Read all of the negative reviews first. Everything sounds great at first but goes down hill from there. Brittany the initial rep quoted me a price for bundling at&t uverse with direcTV, no surprise my first bill arrives and it is higher in comparison to the quote. I called customer service to solve this issue. After hours on the phone with them (not an exaggeration), they offered a $100 credit to my bill. That's great, however the $100 credit does not make up for the misquoted amount over the 2 year contract. The customer service rep said that I would be contacted in the following few weeks to resolve this issue, the follow up never happened. A couple months later a channel (golf, not a premium channel) stops working. I called to discuss this and am told the channel was not included in my package (Xtra). The funny part is that I pulled up my account and it shows the channel on my package. After about an hour the rep does fix this issue. At this point I ask about the 2 $100 gift cards that were supposed to be mailed out, the rep said she would look into this and they would follow up with me. Let's fast forward 3 months to 11-30-16. The exact same issue with a channel not working happens. I call customer service and get a rep named Rica. I explain to her the issue. She then tells me that this channel (csnch, not a premium channel) isn't part of my package. I explain to her that I have been watching this channel for the last 6 months and that it is part of my package. She then tells me that it was a promotional free channel and the promo is over. I explain to her that unlike the 3 months free HBO, showtime, and cinemax promos CSNBC is part of my package. I then ask her to pull up the mydirecTV account page which shows that the channel is part of my package. Rica insists that I am incorrect and the channel is not included. I asked Rica if she is telling me that I am lying to her, yes she responds. At this point I tell her that I cannot deal with her and need to speak with another representative. The next rep neal who is the manager apologizes about 100 times and reboots my box a couple times. Nothing, no solution, the channel isn't working. He believes it must be an issue with the broadcast department. Also, during this conversation I asked about the gift cards and the follow up from them about the billing issues. Absolutely no rebuttal or attempt at a solution to this. This phone call takes well over an hour. I am now told again that I will get a call back to solve the issue. At the end of it, I have been given zero solution and feel like I am getting scammed. HAS ANYONE ELSE WITH THE SAME ISSUES CALLED AN ATTORNEY OR THE FCC??? read more
