I was sent on military orders to a new location, equipment turned in and house sold. Autopay charged me for the next 4 years until my card expired without my knowledge. My card finally expired and I have a $305 bill that has been sent to collections. Call after call from collections. No response to my formal dispute for reimbursement. $4500 paid when I didn't even live in the same state. At this point I want collection calls to stop and the $305 charge to be rightfully reversed. Be very careful when thinking of using this company. They insist on auto-pay from your account which gives them a license to charge whatever they want. They raise prices constantly and their service is only good when it's not raining or snowing or windy. I cancelled my service because I didn't have time to call every 6 months to try to negotiate a cheaper price. When I cancelled, they added a months fee to the bill which they auto withdraw of course. Then they charged me again two months later for the rest of the nhl package when I didn't even have the service anymore, so I had to pay for service I'll never receive. They refused to refund me. This was the worst service and experience I have had in a long time. The signup for a package is beyond misleading. BE CAREFUL the auto-fill is a year contact and the service is subpar at best. Can you give zero stars? Called technical support to fix a wireless box that stopped working after almost two years. After they did nothing and told me a technician would have to come out and fix the 775 error code and I would have to pay for it. When I said no I was offered an upsell of a Protection Plan for an extra fee. Again I declined. I was transferred to the "loyalty" department and they offered the same upsell. When I declined they processed my cancellation. So much for 20 years of loyalty. Good riddance DirecTV! read more

Terrible customer service. They took my $19.95 install fee up front on 7/14. provided no Service promised refund in three days . The tech came 7/15 and left he wasn't going on the roof to install the dish he didn't have to he could have installed on side of our building . No refund. I've dealt with numerous people there now I'm told 30-45 days for a refund? Corporate will be getting a call Monday dint deal with this company they are full of baloney . From day one I've had issues with Direct TV Now. They do not have any customer service. In a June 21, 2019 article, which I wished I had seen last year, by Luke Bouma it's quoted: AT&T's President Says DIRECTV NOW Is No Longer its Main Focus - Now AT&T is making it clear that DIRECTV NOW is no longer their focus when compared to DIRECTV and the new WarnerMedia service. If there was a ZERO star option, I definitely would and I NEVER write reviews but do NOT go with this company. They promise you everything and you get nothing! We had an installation set up between 12-2 and after waiting 6 hours after the time slot, we attempted to call and were switched to at least 12 different operators... from tech to billing to loyalty to sales... back to sales, back to billing and back to billing. On the phone with them for 2 hours. Prior to that, we were promised the first responders discount for cable and after being switched to 4 different departments, we were told it only applies to cellular service. I am a returning customer of direct tv since 9/16. Its proved to be a downgrade from verizon fios. The customer service sucks when you call on the phone, they are not helpful or will try to charge you extra or tell me that they cant locate your account. But out of the 4 times that my direct tv was not working due to cable connection - the tech department of chat services of direct tv seems to really do the job in helping me. Today, andie of tech department tried to go the extra mile in helping me fix the issue. I wanted to leave a very horrible review but people like him makes you give the service another chance. Hey folks, I had to share this one with you. My elderly father was recently hospitalized due to surgery to remove a tumor. As a result of the long re-coop time I've been put in charge of his estate. All is well dealing with the various vendors, that is, except one, DIRECTV. We pointed out to them that he's been over charged since Oct. 2007 for a DVR device and an additional receiver that was returned when he went HDTV, bout $16.00 per month, amounts to bout $800.00 in over payments. When asked for the monies be returned to him they refused, offering a $50.00 credit on the next month's bill. Absolute worst customer service possible!! I have been a customer for almost 10 years and have had to call over 4 times in the last month. Each rep I spoke to was worse than the last. They don't have a clue what they're doing, you get different answers to the same exact question with each call and they talk over you rudely and never listen to what you are actually saying. For the amount I pay, I expect a higher level of customer service than I would get at a fast food restaurant! PLEASE SHARE THIS POST: #directv In February of this year after receiving email after email to "come back" to DirecTV I did. The offer was great, discounted service, free movie channels and a $200 gift card. On May 7, June 4, June 17, June 18 (had to call 2 times) and June 22 I attempted to get to the bottom of where my gift card might be. I received "reference numbers for escalation calls" that were never returned. I received one call and the person left a special phone number and PIN code to be allowed in but the PIN code didn't work. On each and every call the person told me they didn't know why I didn't receive my card, hence the escalation. Finally last night 6/22 I attempted to cancel my service after spending time waiting on hold for customer service and then sitting on customer service to be told once again that I now don't qualify. Bait and switch. I asked to cancel my service. The guy transferred me and I received the message "the current wait time is approximately 5 minutes". DON'T FALL FOR THE SCAM OF DIRECTV. STAY AWAY. After 11 years of maintaining direct TVs service in my home I cancelled today. My auto payment card is my bank card which expires 4/20 and they were unable to process my payment. They interrupted service after one week. I have never been so frustrated with a company and it links to ATT and switched to ATT cell from Verizon and regretted and immediately switched back to Verizon when the contract was done. Now after 11 years I will need to seek a different cable provider. The cancellation department didn't apologize or even attempt to keep my business. Their customer service is horrible. Anytime you call it takes forever. We've cancelled our service and received a MasterCard with the refunded balance. It doesn't include a movie that they double billed us for and they refuse to refund the $22.00. Why would we buy, not rent, the same movie twice? I'm the same day nonetheless. No matter the deal that's being offered to new subscribers, I do not recommend DirectTV! Having been a previous long time Comcast subscriber, unfortunately, DirecTV was my only option in my new residence. It is not only costly Per month, plan on having no service if there is heavy rain, snow, wind or other weather conditions. It has nothing to do with electricity or power. Check before you subscribe, if seeking 3D experience. This Satellite TV service provider will only enable their "free" 3D to compatible devices on their private list and none other!!! You might have to buy new hardware (screen and receiver) to view their advertised 3D service. Definitely caveat emptor, if considering this service provider's hype about this capability!! Get confirmation in writing that your existing home system will receive 3D channels or plan on buying all new stuff to view it! So we've had direct tv for 2 years we never had a problem until we moved from NC to NJ we put our account on hold till we found a house when we closed on our home we called they told us to keep all our old equipment so the guy can install it so we did when the technician showed up he said dont worry I'll give you new equipment we told him they told us he just had to use the old stuff he said it's fine hell just put new ones in so we said ok no one told us that they had opened a second account instead of just reinstating our account so I called once I found out that we had been getting charged twice the first time they said they would take care of it they never did we first started calling in July it's now January and were still having to deal with this bull not only did they not fix their own mistakes now were stuck paying a ton of money for a service I never had we started paying 20 a month due to the fact my husband is in the military and now they want us paying almost 400 because they cant do their job I have canceled both accounts and will never use them again nor will I ever recommend them they are simply awful read more

I ordered DIRECT TV. In the Boonton area, they must partner up with Verizon DSL, so its one package. Unfortunately Verizon DSL has slow internet and it could not properly support the Direct TV Signal for ON DEMAND, which is a feature we rely on. I tried it for 3 months and finally gave up and ordered another provider and problems solved. I cancelled Verizon and they were very understanding, but DIRECT TV demands a $400.00 early cancellation fee. I explained several times to their customer service, which was like talking to a robot, and sent polite emails explaining the problems. In their minds the problem was Verizon, not theirs. I kept pointing out that the service relied on Verizon and that it was a package in this area. Got nowhere. Beware of Direct TV! They have zero customer service. I've been with DIRECTV for awhile and they always come up with a way to rip you off. Once your free 3 months is over you bill goes thru the roof and nobody calls to say change or do something different. Once they have their captive audience they don't care ,you can't get out. The big problem is when they have your credit card info they can cancel your account and charge your card without informing you. I told them i will pay the balance after they charged my account the first time. Four days later they charged it again. When you try to talk with them their answer is they don't need to tell you when they are taking the money it's in your contract. And there's nothing you can do. You figure after being with them over 10 years they show you they care a little, but they don't. The supervisor Kelly told me they have the right to into my bank account when they want, because that's in my contract . I feel I made a deal with the DEVIL. My husband and I were looking forward to changing from Verizon Fios to DirecTV. The installation technicians were supposed to be here between 8AM and 12PM today. It's not only bad enough that you need a 4-hour time slot , but now they're already an hour late and we're stuck in your phone hotline forever. No one is providing any service here! This is the 2nd time I've used Directv. Ten years ago, I used it, and every time it rained, we'd lose service. We moved to a new home, and I thought I'd try it again. I deeply regret it. The salesperson told me I could bundle with Verizon for internet, which sounded great, so I set up my Directv account. The problem was, I was not told Verizon Fios was not available in my area. So our internet service is like stepping back to 1992. It's so slow, I can't even download a document more than a page long. I had to switch to Xfinity for internet, (our only high speed option) but they use the cable to connect to the modem, so I'd have to rewire the whole house to add another line for directv to work. That didn't work for us. Now, $420 to get out of the Directv contract is no small fee, especially when I feel like the original salesperson was misleading. My advice is to thoroughly look into your internet service options before agreeing to Directv. As far as the signal goes, we still lost tv several times in the rain. Directv claims 99% signal reliability. I'm thinking 99% doesn't seem very good. With 365 days a year, that 1% would be over 3.5 days without a signal. But the signal never goes out for a full day. Just an hour or two during storms, which usually happens in the evening, right during the crazy time of day for moms with little children--when you need the tv the most. read more

Between my husband and I we have had Direct TV for at least 12 years, and in two states. While the prices have escalated at an alarming rate we were very happy with the service until recently. We had bundled our tv, phone, internet through our phone company, and didn't check each and every charge for the three things in every monthly bill. In February I noticed a charge for Direct TV for $35.00 mo. for a sports package we hadn't ordered. It been charged at this point for three months. Called Direct TV and asked for a refund and was told no problem. Didn't show up, so called again several months later and again asked for a refund for the overcharge( which was almost 6 months at this point) and was told they could only refund 2 of the months. I asked for a manager and was told he would call back by 6pm that day. Never called. I called the next day, got a manager and was told he could only refund 2 months. After talking some more I asked for 4 months to be fair, and he said he could only refund 3 months. Even though they admitted it was their mistake and acknowledged that their employee as far back as February didn't issue my refund, and the charge kept going every month after that, the manager would only give 3 months back and I had to take that as a small amount spread over 12 months. I sent a letter with the next bill spelling all of this out, showing what I was owed, what I would except as a credit (which was less) and they totally ignored me. They just sent the next bill now owing double. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE for something that was not our fault (and the manager at Direct admitted it ) You are very quick to take our money, raise rates and we still stayed loyal, and when something comes up where you owe us a small amount back we are completely ignored. And then they cut the service off....really crappy way to treat long term customers. read more

DirectTV has a great scam going - the sales dept tell you anything you want to hear on the phone, signs you up for a subscription then they conveniently deny have made the statements they did and end with telling you that they can't refund charges for a product you are not even using. This is the THIRD time it's happened with Direct TV - the latest example is: I signed up for NHL Center Ice 2 months into a 4 month season - I was told I would only have to make two payments of $14.99 for the remaining 2 months (it would have been 4 payments for the full season). I was also assured that the games I wanted - NJ Devils - would NOT be blacked out because NHL Center Ice shows ALL games. First of all, the subscription never even worked on my receivers - I wasted 2 hours with tech support trying to correct it and they weren't able to - now, the channels work when they want to and the rest of the time say "not subscribed". Then when it DOES work, every NJ Devils game is blacked out (contrary to what I was told). And as if that wasn't enough misinformation, I am now told that I still have to make FOUR monthly payments of $14.99 for a service that doesn't even work even though I tried to cancel it 2 days after I realized it didn't work for me. I also find it amazing that a company that controls satellites in the sky and can remote control a receiver in your house doesn't have the technology to hit delete on a subscription. If you have a choice - I say stay AWAY from Direct TV - I am switching back to Cablevision and they are even paying my cancellation fee and outstanding balance. read more
