Dish installed 23 years ago on roof. Dish must have shifted. No reception. Waited a month for serviceman who finally showed up. I was paying $10/month for a service agreement all this time. Serviceman informed me that his ladder isn't tall enough to reach the roof and informed me that they are no longer allowed to climb the roof to service a dish they installed. He then said that some subscribers as myself pay cash to get the job done. After asking how much, he said $100 where his short ladder will miraculously grow longer. I refused service. read more

The worst service I have ever seen. Avoid this at all cost even for the low price unless you want to wait for when their service is available-Which is rarely. We are lucky if the shows in our library are available twice a week. So many "oops" messages. read more

Opened a DirecTV account on 10/25/2016 and fulfilled the 2 year commitment. I was debited $127.99 on my Amex card 11/30/18 for December 2018 service & then I cancelled 12/5/18. Was told I would get a refund of the December bill & pay for any days used (which I did; $24). Last 4 emails of the bill shows a credit of $127.99 and several chats with DTV confirmed they would send me that amount. Never received. Previous chat 3/13/19 confirmed that they would send me a gift card for that amount. Never came. Chat today 4/16/19, THIS rep claims it was never owed to me. Claims it was for a past balance, which is false as one pays in advance, not in arrears for service. I will never use DTV again nor recommend them; in fact, I will tell everyone I know that you are willing to cheat your customers. read more

This was the worst experience I had been a customer for over 10 years. My bill was $165 for 2 TVs no extra Chanel's. I canceled my service 01/07. I went online 01/11 to pay my final bill after I returned my equipment and my online access was gone. I went to the AT&T and they couldn't pay it either. I tried to pay the phone and they kept me on hold for over 45mins. What other options do I have? The customer service is terrible and they are very expensive. Direct TV sucks. I have a DVR whole-home Genie system. It did not work from the time it was installed. The technician told me it was my internet. I had my internet company come and my speed is 175 mbps. I have called several times, never to have a follow-up call from anyone from DirecTV. Finally a knowledgeable representative told me it was their poor equipment . I just got off of the phone with them and spoke with a manager and he told me the equipment I have has issues, has had issues for months, and they're still working on it. So I asked can they just swap it out for something that works. He told me they can but I would be charged for it. That is some real bullshit. I am so sorry I ordered DirecTV. Lied to me over the phone when I asked if getting new boxes would put me in a contract. They said No it wouldn't. Direct question, direct answer. Went to cancel months later and the woman tells me that I'm in a contract and have to pay to get out of it. I'll never use them again. I have been a DirecTV subscriber for over 3 years at this point and so glad I decided to go with them. Every time I call them with any issue or help with a rate, I always leave the phone call very happy. If they have ever done anything wrong they will fix it and compensate you for the inconvenience. I love talking about DirecTV and how they have changed over the years. If you are thinking about switching from Cable, DirecTV is an option that I'd consistently recommend. read more

Absolute terrible service. I was talked into taking this service by my AT&T representative. I kept my cable Internet and for about 3 weeks all was fine. Then suddenly there were shows that I couldn't perform an instant rewind on. Additionally I only watch TV via the app on my tablet in my bedroom and while there was no issues with optimum; a month into the directv service I would be watching a show and it would go out of synch, freeze or shutdown altogether. I called customer service and they said it was an issue with my tablet. I signed into a friend's optimum app and there were no issues for a week. Clearly not only the shoddy service but the inept customer service you truly get what you pay for. read more

The service works wonderfully but that's where it stops. Customer Service sucks. Every time I make a change to my service they lock me in for another minimum term. Most times they get the change wrong and I have to spend my own time on the phone trying to get them to fix it. Sometimes 3 and 4 times I have to call before they get it right. I should charge them for my time! And you better pay your bill on time or else they will hound you with computer generated phone calls treating you like some low life bum. I've been a loyal customer for years and never missed a payment, then the one time I was late (less than 30 days mind you) because of an oversight on my part they treated me like some low life piece of crap. You'd think maybe they'd have some intelligence in their computer programs that treat first time lates with a little more care especially if they've been long time loyal paying customers. Nope, you are just a number to these guys and they employ the minimum in terms of staff skills. Good product, bad company. Just look at how many negatives are out here. Should be a negative number rating! Called to complain about not getting CBS--basically the only channel I care about because I watch very little TV. They said they would upgrade my dish and box at no charge. I asked 3X to be sure there would be no charge and no change in my rate. Scheduled a tech for a week later 8am-12pm window. The morning the tech is to come, I see an email with new monthly rates and a fee. Called and told all would be waived-- It was 11:30 am and I confirmed 8-12 tech appt that day. 12:40 PM No show--called at least 3X and told appt is 12-4 and the updates changed every 10 minutes to a later time. I was told I could not be connected to a US agent when I requested it. Tech finally shows at 2 pm--says he just got the call 20 minutes earlier. Called his supervisor to complain and supervisor says he doesn't do the scheduling--they are a 3rd party. Tech asks me to sign something on his phone. No idea what it was. Told him I don't sign anything I can't read. It was a contract for 2 years and if I cancel I will have to pay $480! I was never told that and called Direct TV again! Oddly enough the next 2X I called, they were able to connect me with a US agent. They said it is the 3rd party's equipment. The Tech tells me he needs an extension cord and surge protector to finish hooking up the upgrade. I don't have any extras and was not told to supply it. He left... Called and spoke with a supervisor in Montana named Radar who escalated the issue and told me I would receive a call back within 60 minutes... That was more than 2 1/2 hours ago or 150 minutes! Scammers and totally disrespectful of my time. I should be paid for the hours I wasted...The best they do is $20.00 for a missed appointment I waited 6 hours for! read more

NIGHTMARISH CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!! I scheduled an installation in person for a week out and received a reminder call days before as well as the day of for the 12-4 Appt. . . . 1 o'clock, nobody . . . 2 o'clock, an automated call saying no worries, they were on there way. . . 3 o'clock, nobody . . . 4 o'clock, nobody and I called the company to see what was going on . . . 4 o'clock - Rep # 1 : very nice and accommodating, but had to place to me on hold for over a half hour to try and figure out the discrepancy between her computer stating someone was en route to my house currently, as well as it saying I had been rescheduled for an appointment three days away. Returning with no answers, she stated she had called my local office and that a local supervisor would be in contact with me shortly. After 30 minutes and no calls . . . 5 o'clock - Rep # 2 : After explaining my situation and asking for a supervisor, this short and abrupt representative put me on hold, only to return and state my local office was closed and that she had spoken to her supervisor and that I had a scheduled appointment for three days away. She was promptly hung up on . . . 5:15 - Rep # 3 : A very pleasant man answered and stated his supervisor was in a meeting, so he made over a half hour of efforts to call my local branch(which he confirmed was open until 6, despite the previous rep), while finishing by stating a local supervisor will return my call in 30 minutes to an hour, to my protests of "I've already been through this". 45 minutes later, with no returned call . . . . 6:30 Rep # 4 : A pleasant woman answered the phone and handed me over to her supervisor after some brief questions . . . Supervisor : "We're sorry, but somebody is on their way". To which I responded, "your local offices closed at 6". I was then told that I had an appointment scheduled three days out and that I would receive compensation for my troubles. When asked how much compensation I would receive for almost 7 hours of waiting, confusion and incompetence on their part. He replied "one hundred dollars is the highest I can go". One hundred dollars barely covers the satellite pole installation, with $20 left over towards my first months' bill!!!!!! What a slap in the face!!!!!! I got the most rude individual on the phone, who couldn't understand why I would call a place called DIRECT TV and would only be looking for internet. I just spent 40 minutes on the phone with DirecTV. What a hassle. I asked to get their service in a 2nd home and it is so painful. All they want to talk about is NFL Sunday Ticket. I was compelled to take a 2 year contract otherwise i could not get an High Definition set top box. Don't not give them the right to take money directly from your bank account - you will regret it. i can't wait to get the channels i want directly from the internet and cancel my account. read more

Easily the worst company I have ever worked with. We signed up, were assured that we could cancel within 10 days with no cancelation fees. The first time it rains the TV goes out and we already had enough to issues with Time Warner with that but at least we wouldn't be locked in for 2 years. So we canceled the service 5 days after setting it up. Next thing I know I'm getting handed a bill for $460 and am being told that their representatives were wrong, there is ALWAYS an early cancelation fee and now it's my problem. So even though I was given completely wrong info from both Verizon (we set up a bundle package with them and they ALSO didn't make it clear that Direct TV is completely separate) and Direct TV, they just say anything to get you to sign up. We are now stuck with an almost $500 bill for a service that not only didn't work but we had for 5 days. Customer service was abysmal. They were rude and unhelpful. DIRECTV has become very expensive over the years. From December 2013 to September 2014 the monthly bill has increased (60%) yes, SIXTY percent without changing from the top Premier programming package that includes the important HBO, Showtime and Starz channels. DIRECTV used to permit their customer service reps to give periodic promotional discounts, customer loyalty credits, however, no longer. Now all customer service is from the Philippines unless you tell them you want to terminate your service and then you will be routed back to the U.S. If you can I would stick with TV over the internet and establish a service like Netflix to watch movies and TV episodes. DIRECTV it appears to have forgotten that without the customer there is no business. There are many other options include DISH Network, Cable, Digital TV for local channels and the Internet of course. Another case of let's get more money from our customers to keep our new owners AT&T happy. read more
