I was a DTV subscriber since 2010 and cancelled because it SUCKS. I called to ask why my 1080 has turned into 480 and their response is that my internet is too slow.....WTF! I had 1080 2weeks ago and I have internet with ATT your parent company. I would have called earlier but I don't have 2 hours of my life i will never get back every time something goes wrong. My initial call was to bring my bill down from $120 to $50. I played their game every time they raised by bill for at least 5 years. This time they offered me a $17 discount. HELL NO! I finally got fed up. After 90 mins on the phone i cancelled it. 2 hours later they call me back offer me a $300 visa gift card for my time and trouble and $50 a month subscription with contact of course. I said no thanks. i was strong and didn't bite the bait. I have slingtv for $25 a month and it works great even with the sucky ATT internet that I am going to cancel because the tech never showed or called to install the fiber. Direct Tv service is the worst, I could not get it to wok and asked for a tech to be sent and said I would pay, Instead they had me work on it with one of their operator's and a half hour later it was still not solved. And they repeated they had no tech to send to my home. DIRECT TV Customer service is TERRIBLE!!! Some of our channels on our direct TV Has been giving us a lost signal message. We called customer service and asked them to check. They go through some steps only to tell us that we now have to PAY EXTRA each month on top of what we already pay to have it serviced. First of all we do not own the dish and if it is broken then Direct TV should have enough customer service to fix their product. Why should we have to PAY MORE for our bill EVERY MONTH to get a technician out??? I'm really confused here. The DVR would work half the time and when they shipped me a new one, it was "refurbished". Really? How many billions does AT&T make? My TV would freeze almost 3 times a week. This went on for a good 2 minutes. In retrospect, I should've hung up, but I didn't and listened to his tirade about why I should give him my personal info. I have been a Directv customer for a decade ($8000.00 or so). I call because my T.V. has been spotty for 2 days. I have rebooted, and unplugged the t.v., to no avail. Had to call after working 10 hours at my job and all I want to do is relax and watch my t.v.. Now I have to call and get a robot, who doesn't understand the simplest of responses. Get through that experience then someone comes on and asks me more security questions( more security than The White House). I want to cancel my service after this. They get me to the loyalty program and he offers me compensation for my trouble which satisfies me ,but then he transfers me to another person who asks me a series of more questions!!!!! On top of all of this she can't get anyone out to my house for 2 days!!!!! I tell her to transfer me back to the loyalty program but she tells me I would have to call another number.... The loyalty program transferred me to her why can't she transfer me back... DONE !!!!! Service cancelled . My smart T.V. will now save me $70 a month for the basic package. Set up appointment for the 19th, got call that day that it was changed until the 20th, next day as no tech available on the 19th, ok so waited from 12 to 4, got call from company advising they were coming, then no show, Went on chat, went thru 4 people, last one told me that I would be contacted. ATT hired a disreputable local Kansas City company called "Lantel" www.lantelkc.com to do the digging. During the digging, Lantel smashed a major water pipe in my yard. The careless digging caused Thousands of dollars in damage. Simple enough.....just call ATT...right? After 20+ attempts to get an ATT decision maker, I realized that ATT senior managers will not talk to me. ATT CS told call Lantel here in KC directly. I called Lantel, I was told I needed to talk to their VP. I tried..........he did not return any of the 10+ calls/messages I left for him. After months of no luck with Lantel, I went back to ATT. I was finally told that ATT was not liable as they didn't do the work. Lantel has lied and said they didn't do the work...even after seeing the pictures of their work. Recently had a Rep at a my location redo my contract cause he said he could cause it was a new store and he was allowed. Messed up everything. After about 3 months of fighting I finally got what was promised. Now a year later they raising my bill by $60. They supervisor offered a $40 discount but that's still $20 more than I had. I told him I rather cancel and he seemed to get upset and I could hear it in his voice that he was not happy and his customer service changed. I have been a customer of Directv for 25 years. Service was excellent, when owned by Verizon. They now charge a sevice charge to come out and aim your dish, if blown out of alignment. The most recent scam is to send me the bill 3 days before it is due, since they want to be paid via computer. Although I mail it on the day of receipt, I am repeatedly charged $16.00/month late fee. This is my first review I have ever placed besides giving Google reviews to companies that wow'd me and I had to give a 5 star. I am not sure if I am even doing this correctly. I too have been a customer of Direct TV for over a decade, mainly because of the NFL package. Even when times were tough and I had to give up my amenities, I am a football fanatic and couldn't imagine not having all my football games at my fingertips. Well with all the disputes we already lost some games this last season but I've still dealt with any of the incompetence one AT&T to over. The fact that I have been over charged, charged for something I didn't order, and being told 2 times it'll be taken care of and now this, it's my last straw! I guess I'll take my money to the restaurants to watch any games I can't get through whichever service I go with. Im going to add the screenshots of my conversation with DirecTV, now ATT, which is when everything started going down hill! I'm embarrassed to post as I had become very unprofessional as I was so upset. I got a disconnection bill when they owed me money since December and if the credits were applied my bill would only be 3 days late as of now. Here I go, cause I have nothing better to do, for the third time explaining everything so I can get my $200 they owe me. This last time is what the pictures are. I went through everything once again because I was never issued the credits the first time I went through this, and after going through everything, the supervisor tells me, I'm sorry but we're having technical issues and can't help you today, reach back out tomorrow! Are you serious!!! I'm a Director of Operations and if one of my supervisors handled a call like that in our tech support, there would be disciplinary actions! A nice gentleman contacted me and did the research needed to get me what I was promised. I would give 5 stars but it took a lot of my personal time and fighting to get my account corrected. I've always had good service with their Technical dept and must say my dealings with Loyalty dept in Jan and March have been excellent. During this difficult covid-19 situation, the wait times have been longer but the agents were very courteous, professional, knowledgeable and downright friendly. To be sure, I had gotten some reps that weren't as amenable, but the last agents in Jan & recently the last few days, were just great, bending backwards to help. I had Directv installed in March 2017, and the TV constantly cuts out which cause me to lose TV service for days and DVR were unable to record my shows. I had to contact tech support every other week in March and April to resolve the issue. On May 1, a rep came by and could not resolve the issue. The problem continued until September, and on 9/23, I talked to a rep that wanted to charge me $99 just for a rep to come out and investigate, so I decided to cancel the service instead. Here's a list of event that follows. 9/23: Talked to cancellation dept and cancel the service. The rep told me the ETF will be waived because they could not resolve my issue after multiple complains. 10/6: Dropped off all equipment at Post Office as instructed. 10/21: Received a bill for service dates of 9/18-10/17 of $67.29, non-return equipment fee of $225, and ETF of $340. 10/26: 1st rep. Called AT&T Directv and talked to the first rep, she reviewed the notes and said there shouldn't be termination fee as noted by the cancellation dept on 9/23. The equipment has been dropped off, so the non-equipment fee should be waived, and the service was terminated on 9/23, so the bill should only be for 9/18-9/23. However, she said the system would not allow her to make the adjustment, so she needs to transfer me to another dept. 10/26: 2nd rep. After being transfer and explaining the issue, the rep agreed to remove the charges. However, again, this rep said the system would not allow her to make the adjustment and will need to transfer me to billing specialist. 10/26: 3rd rep - billing specialist: Talked to the 3rd rep and she reviewed the notes and told me she WILL NOT remove the charges because they were valid. The rep said I did not fulfill my contract, so the charges will not be waived eventhough there were notes indicating ETF will be waived. I tried to explain the issue, but the rep would not budge. I then asked her for her name or ID and be transferred to a supervisor. The rep went silence for 2 minutes and finally came back, and I asked her for her name or ID again, and she tried to change the topic and would not provide the info. Finally after several more attempt, I was provided the Employee ID of FL404F as her ID. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor, FL404F said she will transfer me, I was put on hold for another 5 minutes and the rep hung up on me without transferring to a supervisor. read more

They could not install the cable but the dish was already on the roof so I paid early termination fee of $600 and thought I had licked my wounds and moved on. They did not in fact cancel the service and applied it to pre-payment of my account, so a year later they hit me with a $600 bill to cancel my account the second time. I have spent hours of time on the phone, retelling the story for the first time to 4 people and kept escalating it... only to be told the 4th level guy was not authorized to solve this even though he could see that I paid $600 and they did not cancel. I only wish I could provide negative stars. As yet a power outage, my main receiver refused to work. The Customer Service Rep (& I use this term loosely) kept insisting I should just use my second box & couldn't get it through her head that I've never had a second box. She finally told me she's remove the second box charges (apparently I've been being charged for one all along) but that o needed to return it to them. Grrrr! I finally received a replacement, but it didn't install correctly so I had to call again. After much fiddling around, the Rep finally got the TV working. She assured me all my favorites and recorded items would download. Four days later ... zilch. I called back a third time. After sitting on hold for an eternity, the Rep who answered said she couldn't hear me and directed me to call back (keep in mind that EVERY call has had a 45+ minute hold time). With my blood now boiling, I'm in hold. Again. I tried managing online, but all the necessary links I've clicked on in their site have been dead links. Before ATT acquired them, I highly recommended them; ever since they were picked up by ATT, it's been a nightmare. Absolutely the worst service possible. The promised internet frequently didn't work, and the TV periodically wasn't functioning. I complained frequently, but with no meaningful response. When I finally cancelled the service, I was hit with an early termination fee, which AT&T/DirectTV would not waive, ultimately turning the charge over to a collection agency.
