Second service outage. 9 hours and counting. Service has no estimate time it will be restored.

I was extremely excited to leave Xfinity for Webpass. Unfortunately my excitement was quickly tempered by a 15+ hour outage that happened within a week of the service setup - still have no idea why it happened. I thought it was a fluke. Unfortunately, my service is currently not working. Second time in 3 months. It's been over 9 hours and there is no sign it will be restored by the morning. Take note. If you work from home or if you feel like an 8+ hour outage is unacceptable for internet. Look elsewhere. Webpass doesn't seem to care that Internet is a critical service, and is by far the most unreliable service I've used.

    All set up!

Free promo code below! Do it! I was skeptical of any hidden fees but there are none. It's a legit flare rate. Whatever was advertised is what you pay. No bs. Fiber internet at a discount when compared to AT&T and Xfinity after fees, Wifi extenders and equipment rental. Trust me. It's worth it. With the Internet of Things these days, a lot of devices use Wifi and more Mbps can support more devices. You can get your first month free regardless of when you see this post using the referral code below. Yes, you read that correctly. Get that one month free after you move-in and save yourself some money. I had an awesome technician help set up my router in a few mins. I recommend you download the Google Home app before your install and know where the internet closet is located to assist the tech. It should be a large white kennel. Again, feel free to use my code below. Thanks for reading this far. Free Promo code for one month free (Regardless of when you are reading this): teminiro-108256

Cat5 ethernet or 802.11ac (1.3Gb/s) WiFi, speeds average ~500Mb/s throughout the day, only peaking +900Mb/s during non congested hours
    Christopher D.

Uncapped 1 Gigabit Internet that should of been a U.S. standard one decade ago. Truth be told, up/down speeds are usually in the 500 Mb/s range wether hardlined Cat5e or WiFi 802.11ac 1.3Gb/s Tx Rate, only hitting +900Mb/s during the late hours of the night when not many users in the building are using the network. Installation: Doug R. came early, was professional, quick and to the point. Paying the same for 1 year of WebPass Gigabit service upfront is roughly the same expense as Verizon/Cox/Xfinity charge per month in other areas. Ludicrous. Thank you Webpass (Google Fiber) for providing the great service to San Francisco!

    898 Mbps. Winter 2019. 3:00pm.

NEW review: Perfect. 99.999% uptime over three months. No downtime. No issues. Current speed +898 Mbps or faster. Sometimes when the network lags it drops to the upper-600's. $60 a month. Please let me know what more you are looking for.. This is the best solution for home internet in San Francisco right now. Period. OLD review. 12/5/18 *Stupid easy to schedule. *Insanely fast install. (Five minutes max.) *Crazy inexpensive price. **I'm worried about the reported downtime issues and the lack of response to the bad reviews here. For a company that flaunts their great reviews on the "Over 600 five star reviews on Yelp" I'd expect some follow up. I've had the service for 24hours and so far using it heavily for work with no issues. You can count on updates as soon as they are necessary. So far I would say it's FIVE STAR but with all the unexplained bad reviews there must be something. Speed test in the middle of the workday is +600Mbps Down and +500Mbps Up for the 1 Gigabit price point. Excellent. I really hope it stays this way. UPDATE 12/7/18 - wired_TP-Link AC1750@828down/944up @ 4:30pm on Friday. 100% uptime.

Monkeybrains blows that standard out of the water. I've been using Monkeybrains internet for a little over a year now, which feels like the appropriate amount of time to decide whether the internet is good or if it's just pretending. In the past year I can only remember one outage that lasted longer than about five minutes. Compared to my previous providers, that already puts it way ahead. I stream, upload large video files for editing, and occasionally do some online gaming. Those are all situations where bad internet immediately ruins your day. Dropping a connection while uploading a 10GB video or during a dungeon raid is the digital equivalent of stepping on a Lego. Fortunately, Monkeybrains has been very reliable. I actually can't comment on customer service because I've never had to call them. Either I'm lucky, or the service just quietly works. The price has felt worth it and the performance has been consistently solid. Final verdict: the best compliment I can give my internet provider is that I mostly forget it exists.

Anywho, this review is for Monkeybrains. They are a local company (i.e. quick and easy to get someone on the phone if need be) and reasonably priced. You do have to provide your own router, so plan accordingly. Never experienced service interruptions or any other issues in the 2 years I had them as my ISP. Sonic, however, crapped out literally the same day the techs were done installing it. They also have to drill into the infrastructure, so now I have all these bolts sticking out of the walls, uglifying my kitchen space. Thanks, Sonic. (Go with Monkeybrains)

The disruptions are frequent and too many times have made my home server unreachable while traveling. Most of the time the service resumes, but on occasion I've had to have a neighbor or relative enter my home and reset the connection for me. Super effing inconvenient! Also, there is no roadmap for connections faster than 1 Gigabit, even while even more worthless competitors like Xfinity and AT&T offer 2.5 and even 5 Gigabit. And lastly, they increased their rates a few months ago. They offered a discount if you paid for a year in advance, but offered no way to do that online. It wasn't until I contacted customer service, that they gave me the details of how to do so: by writing a physical check and sending it to a physical address, no ACH or Credit Card options (which are available to those who pay monthly). Like, I'm boomer AF, so I still have a few checks laying around, but who else in 2025 still has a checkbook? When it works, I'm grateful, but internet service is binary. I just need it to work. Always. And it doesn't. End of story.
