Under no circumstances should anyone use this horrible service. Every day You have to reboot the boxes, Everyday you have to re pair the remotes. The remote understands about half of what you say e.g say prime you get time. Then when you cancel they not only charge you a very high termination fee to get away from this ridiculously bad service but they charge you for an extra month on top of not instead of prorating back. I had to call 2xs ro cancel. After being a long time, and mostly satisfied, customer of DIRECTV, I cancelled service in early March 2023. The monthly charges had become too high considering the available content and DIRECTV had lost NFL Sunday Ticket. On March 17, 2023 I returned the DIRECTV equipment to a UPS store as instructed. Then on May 16, 2023 DIRECTV charged my credit card $147.66 for a "Non-Return Recordable Equipment" fee. I immediately contacted DIRECTV and told them I had returned the equipment and provided the UPS Store Return Reference Number. After multiple contacts with DIRECTV customer service, I was unable to get $147.66 equipment return charge reversed. On October 20, I'd had enough and filed a complaint with the BBB. Almost immediately I received a call from DIRECTV's Office of the President and thought I'd finally get the issue resolved. I was wrong... The representative from DIRECTV's Office of the President told me on October 20 that the refund would be applied to credit card that was charged within 7-10 business days. On November 2 I called DIRECTV again asking for a status update. I was told by the same representative that the refund now will come in the form of a Master Card debit card and will be mailed in 4-6 weeks! Totally unacceptable! They know how difficult it is to spend down those Master Card debit cards. What a stinking scam. I have reopened my complaint with the BBB and filed new complaints with the FCC and the FTC. I will NEVER be a DIRECTV customer again and I'm seriously considering dropping AT&T since their really to blame after buying DIRECTV! read more

DirectTV sent a letter stating we need an upgrade in equipment otherwise we will start losing channels. There will be no additional charge. Just call the phone number provided to schedule a technician to come out. I scheduled an appt with the technician. When I called to double check this letter after reading about scams, I was told I don't need the equipment and there would be additional costs per month. DirectTV did indeed send out the letter but they send this letter to all customers even though not all customers need the upgrade. Very deceptive company. Poor communication. DirectTV scheduled a service call to swap out old equipment to meet their new HD requirements. After waiting 3 hours for a scheduled swap of my R22 box, the tech said the dish needed to be replaced as well. Since he was not permitted to walk on a pitched roof to change out the dish, he said he could not complete the upgrade. Customer service said nothing about upgrading the dish during the appointment call. But they did already bill the $49 service charge! The tech said I had no choice but to cancel my service. Today on September 1, 2024 at approximately 1600 hours, I lost ABC7 channel and other ESPN channels because DirecTV executives and Disney executives are getting greedy at customer expense. Both sides failed to meet terms and demanding more money at the expense of loyal customers. I've been a DirecTV customer since 2005. It seems DirecTV is charging me more money as years go by with crappy defective DVR that won't last more than a year!! We started the day at 10am complaining that we were losing our Directv signal and our service was cutting in and our. We were TOLD July 7th was the earliest a Tech was available to check our Satellite. All these companies are the same in the end; you will get pulled in with their promos and discounts you'll eventually realize there was a hidden cost that made up that great discount they so graciously offered you to buy into. Literally my monthly bill is $175 to $240, so when I call in to request a new remote (6yr customer) I don't want to hear "I see you are not on our customer protection plan, under the plan you get a remote at no cost". I wish I could give them zero stars for there services ..I cancelled my direct tv service last November 2022 and I turned in my boxes at my local ups store and got a receipt...even after I cancelled my services they sent me another bill for 211 dollars so I paid this bill ( even though I shouldn't have and talked to a rep and my service was cancelled )...just recently I got a collection notice through a service that direct tv uses for delinquent payments ..luckily I saved all my paperwork ( including the receipt from ups where I turned In my boxes) now i ask you how can I have a payment from march of 2023 when I cancelled my services last Nov 2022 and turned in my boxes at the local ups store on 11/13/2022 ??? How would I even be able to watch tv without my boxes ???? We have had Direct TV for a king king time! We decided to change providers to save money etc... Becuz every time you change something the bill kept going up. When it shouldn't have. They make promises and don't keep. So we changed to another provider and should be saving a substantial amount while making changes. If I could give Direct TV and AT&T a NEGATIVE 20 I would. For 1 solid year I had problems with my TV freezing up for about 15 seconds many times a day. I was told at the time of the install that the box that was bering used was a problem and that out shouldn't have been sent out for the install... obviously that was the reason why. I asked if it could be replaced. Was told it would cost me 175.00 for someone to come out, I explained that it occured from the start. They said okay. Nothing... I called each month... the first year was up, my bill was raised and I said NO WAY was I going to pay for such inferior service and picture quality. I canceled my service, and spoke to a nice person (finally) named Jonathan and I asked for it to be disconnected on Jan 7th. He stated I was paid in full until the 15th of January. I said no... end it then. But we made an agreement because he said I was a great customer and I would keep the internet for much lower fee. Hew said I would not owe any further bills for anything EXCEPT the internet. I am now receiving nasty past due notices of 216.74!!! I haven't had television since Jan. 7th!!! I have called MANY times and been told someone would return my calls and to date no one has. One person even told me she was on overtime and couldn't talk any more. Yes, I was upset and wanted to talk to a supervisor, but to be told that???? I had horrible service for one year, and nobody cared.... Why didn't they care for that year? read more

I like many others, if I could give negative ratings I would. Directv is the most dishonest shady company I have ever seen. They overcharged us for 2 receivers for 9 years (which equals by their admission equals about 1500 dollars) and they refuse to make it right. In addition, we moved out of our house at the end of November and have not had service since then but they are still trying to charge us $200 and we can't get anyone to admit we aren't customers any longer. We have made over 20 phone calls, been kept on hold for hours and when we were finally able to get to a supervisor that theoretically could help us, the calls (more than once) mysteriously dropped and we were never called back. We will be reporting this to the consumer advocates in the media like 7 On Your Side but wanted to start here to tell people to RUN DONT WALK away from Directv and AT&T that owns them. Day 1 of the installation the guy called in to head quarters -2HOURS on hold! 2months later I call customer service 45 min. wait time to let them know they did not give me the discount they promised at initial sign up of contact. Cancelled early sent me to collections with no bill or auto pay charge. I had auto pay! I was satisfied with the package I bought even when the price topped $125/month. I have TV's in two rooms and one box is a DVR. About a month ago they changed the interface menu and did they ever screw it up. Now I have to go through at least one reboot a week because the slave box is not recognized or the recorded items menu freezes as I navigate through it. I also occassionally get what appears to be doubles of series recordings. For example, I had a title box saying that I have 3 programs recorded. Opened the title and see 3 programs. Then I close it all and go to an identical box with the same 3 programs in it. When I deleted the second box I found that all the programs we're gone. I can go to the guide and see that a ball game is on. I see the little yellow "R" meaning I am recording it but when I go to my recordings menu it doesn't show any ball game being recorded. I sometimes find a program that I recorded in the "TV Show" or "Continue Watching" menu but not in the "All Recordings" menu. Direct TV solution: Reboot. I am not a fan of having to reboot a box to find my recordings especially when rebooting stops any recordings in progress and makes the TV useless for the 5 minutes required to reboot. Face it DTV, you screwed up the "Improved user experience" that you rolled out last month. read more
