Video only is a store that specializes (you guessed it) in video related stuff. It's 2023 so basically TV's my dude. Anyway the only mountain view is located right next to costco and their prices are usually $50-$150 cheaper than Costco. The obvious difference is Costco's warranty, so if you don't want the 3 year warranty then Video Only store is for you! Always ask for help here as their display prices might not be reflected properly as they fluctuate. I've been searching for an LG G4 TV for months, thinking Black Friday would be my best chance at a great deal. I'd noticed that other stores usually drop the price to a certain number during sales, only to raise it back up afterward. Even with my job's "discounts" through the LG partner website, I was resigned to paying what I thought was the best price available. My dad and I came here to get a new TV. We had a decent time interacting with the salesman because he was able to help with picking a good TV for my dad's room. I didn't like how there weren't any chairs already available because my dad needed to sit after standing for a while. Sure, they brought a chair from the back. But I'm like why not just have them there in the lobby?! When the delivery man came to my house, he was able to set the TV up where we wanted it. He had a brown skin tone with greyish hair, wore a t-shirt, and jeans, spoke loudly all the time, and had an aggressive demeanor. However, things went south when he demanded that we give him $80 for him to set it up. This was NOT specified on my receipt. Not only that, but he wanted the money in cash instead of from a charge card. So when my dad and I pointed this out, he started lying through his teeth and yelling at my dad and me by claiming that we were trying to rip him off and that it didn't cover what was on the receipt. Even though that's what he was trying to do. He even took down the TV instead of accepting the shipping cost that was already on the bill. When he was taking the TV down and tried to take it away from my dad's room, my dad caved into his ridiculous demand by giving him a $100 bill because he wanted to put an end to the conflict and get him out instead of letting it risk escalating into a fight in our home. Especially since he was like 6.2 feet tall. The delivery man calmed down after Dad let himself get ripped off. It wouldn't surprise me if that guy was an illegal immigrant because it's common knowledge that they're paid less than American citizens, and he didn't want to get caught scamming customers by having concrete evidence with things like a receipt in a credit card report. When I called the salesman who helped us initially to tell him what transpired happened with the delivery man at my house, all he really said was that he would talk to the management about it. I was hoping that he would give my dad's money back, but he never offered to help get the $100 bill back. Long story short, I'm not going to do business with a place that hires delivery men who come to people's homes and harass their customers like angry Indian scammers. Especially if that same business doesn't give back their customers' money after one of their workers rips them off in the customer's own home. read more

Sadly my husband's TV went on the fritz and it was I guess the time for him to get a replacement for his office/man cave. We've been to Video Only before to get the other TVs in our house but it's probably been 8+ years since we bought a TV...maybe even closer to 10 years. Anyhow we were happy to see that this location was still around and immediately went here to look first. The sales person was super helpful and we were able to pick out a TV that day and we even got a small discount for dropping off our old TV to recycle the next day. Went in on a whim to check out TVs. I had been researching a few OLEDs that I wanted, and had been online and at Best Buy at this point. Upon entering, I was greeted by Fred who did a great job showing me all the OLEDs in the size range that I wanted. He went through Sony vs LG vs Samsung for me. I asked what TV he had at home and he was honest with what he had AND with what he'd buy now if he had the choice in the size I wanted, with reasoning for why. The biggest positive here, was they had a deal going for the Samsung s90c OLED in 55" where you can get $300 off if you turn in your old TV. I knew the prices of TVs in the size I wanted going in and was shocked. I bought it on the spot. Even after getting home and doing a quick online comparison, everywhere was listed $300 more than I paid! Would definitely recommend coming in here! The deals change all the time, but the service, I am sure, remains consistent. Fred said he's been in the business of selling TVs for 40 years, so he was a wealth of knowledge! Hats off to Doug and a big thank-you for your help with my recent TV purchase and delivery. What a great customer service experience from start to finish. My last TV was a cheapie smart TV that we won at a raffle and one day after acting up for several months, it finally had the backlight burn out and we had full black screen. It lasted 4 years though, so not too bad. So where to buy a new replacement? I keep hearing the Video Only commercials on the radio, so I checked prices against Best Buy, Target, and Costco. The Video Only prices at first glance definitely seemed worth a look. I walked in the store mid-day on my lunch break and was greeted by Doug. I'm not super technical on TV's, but I am on other types of audio gear and had done a few hours of research and was leaning towards something from LG or Sony. The Mt View showroom is a manageable medium size with a decent, yet not overwhelming, selection. Man, Doug knows his stuff! It turns out he's the store manager. What a professional and with zero ego. He asked me what was important to me. When I explained that I'm not a gamer and watch movies only once a month, and the rest is a mix of cable TV, sports, and Youtube, he steered me to 3 options. One of them was on my list already. As we talked in a comfortable conversational way, he told me a few key features and put on some live sports (US Open Tennis) so I could watch the picture clarity during sports movement. I asked several specific tech questions and he explained in detail, comparing LG, Samsung and Sony for each item, never missing a beat. At my request, he then left me on my own for 10 minutes so I could look and compare. When it came time for selecting a purchase, there were no hard selling tactics. Doug knocked a bit off of the posted price that was already discounted and I was a happy camper. Overall, it was a very efficient process and it only took about 30 minutes from the time I walked in the door. A few days later I regrettably decided I had selected the wrong size and did something most people probably would not do - I requested an exchange for a smaller TV of the same model, going from a 65" to a 55". I made this request in person with Doug the next week. No problem - Done. I was out in 5 minutes. The delivery swap was scheduled for 5 days later and the 2 delivery guys were great - on time, efficient, friendly. I'm impressed and a bit surprised that the TV size exchange went off without issue. Doug and the delivery guys treated me like a VIP. That kind of customer service is extremely rare today and I'm very appreciative. You guys rock. read more

4+ stars for being friendly and having what I needed! It's New Year's Day and the old sound bar attached to our old TV suddenly stops working. So I thought I'd give these folks a try. I went in and explained what I needed (something cheap for my cheap old TV) and the salesperson led me to exactly what I needed, the last / floor model of probably their oldest unit. He even asked some questions to try and make sure it would be compatible, and even threw in the optical audio cable (to give you an idea of how old we're taking here). Even wrote on the receipt that I could return the unit if it didn't connect. I took it home, and hey, it works (had to Google a little bit but TLDR the Amazon fire stick is a pretty great universal remote!). We were immediately greeted by Fred who walked us through the 3 major brands and explained in depth the different models. I've heard the commercials on the radio for years and finally got my butt into the store, still skeptical I'd find what I was looking for cheaper than anywhere else. I walked in and Doug immediately asked if I needed help with anything. I told him I was looking for a receiver, and had my eye on the Denon X3700H. "Great choice!", he said. He took me over to where the receivers were and showed me the floor model. My jaw dropped when I saw the price was several hundred dollars cheaper than Amazon, Crutchfield, or anywhere else I had looked (Costco didn't sell the model). "Is that for a new receiver?", I asked, still skeptical of the price. "This is your first time shopping with us isn't it?" he gave a friendly smile. I bought the new receiver on the spot. Unfortunately it was on back order due to the shipping and chip shortages everyone is going through, but that is completely forgivable. I did wait a while, but Doug answered every email I sent asking if there was any update, and was friendly the entire time. I had an excellent experience at Video Only (in Mountain View) with Reggie. I needed a new receiver. Reggie showed me three options and recommended one. I took his recommendation. It appears to handle all my audio needs (TV, phono, cd, tape, and DVD player) yet it cost less than the one that I purchased 9 years that recently quit. Reggie even checked the specs for my 9-year-old receiver to ensure that the new one would fulfill all my audio needs. I appreciated that extra effort. My current TV was a 12-year-old plasma that still worked but was nearing the end of its life span. I had in mind a TV that I would consider purchasing - one that four video experts had recommended as the best. But I wanted to see what Reggie recommended so I asked, and he took me to that exact TV. The price he offered was a good one, so I bought that television. The entire experience was brief but productive. I was in and out in a relatively short time and I value my time. Reggie was very professional. I learned that Video Only does not have their own installation, unfortunately. They offer an independent contractor to install, or Reggie can install. I wanted the new TV mounted on the wall to protect it when the next big earthquake hits. The cost was $540 to install the wall-mounted TV, program the receiver to operate all the audio equipment, and take away the old TV. Whether purchasers should consider hiring someone else to install, I have no wisdom to offer, but it is worth consideration. One thing worth noting, it that Video Only has a huge showroom and it is filled only with video equipment, such as TVs, receivers, and soundbars. So they offer a huge selection of products that general electronic stores might not be able to match. read more

This is definitely an old school type of electronic store. I have bought speakers, stereo receivers, sound bars and HD Television sets. They always have good prices usually better than their main competitors. It has been my go to electronic store for most of my larger ticket purchases. It has been worth the drive to Mountain View from Los Gatos. My only negative I think is worth sharing is the experience I have with exchanging a TV. I will admit I have exchanged TVs that I was not happy with more than one time. I feel like I have experienced some friction from the salesperson when I have done so. I feel like they were taking it personally I was returning it and causing them an inconvenience. Most competitors there is usually no questions asked. Probably because at bigger retail chains you are not going to be dealing with the same person you made the purchase with when you return the item. I understand they can't sell an open box item for as much as an unopened box but if I am not happy with a product I refuse to feel guilty about returning it. This will definitely be a consideration for making future purchases. All in all I recommend Video Only. Also they always have in stock what I want. read more

This place DOES live up to its cheesy ads!! My husband and I experienced a series of unfortunate events in our home of appliances breaking during SIP orders, our TV being one of them. Being the techie he is, my husband already knew exactly what replacement they he wanted so it was a matter of finding it at the right place. The store is situated a stone's throw from Costco and Best Buy so it's very easy to compare prices and quickly see Video Only really has the best deals. After researching heavily online, my husband called Video Only and the sales manager quickly matched the lowest online price he mentioned and offered to negotiate more in store. In short, we got $500 credit for trading in our old busted tv (10+ year old Panasonic Plasma). They included the wall mount, discounted a 5-year extended warranty for less than how much it would cost to even have the TV looked at if anything goes wrong, held our TV until we were finished with construction, delivered it, and gave us a price that we didn't see anywhere else until the holiday sales (over 4 months later) on a TV model that was recently released. Our order placement etc. was handled by the store manager himself but all the employees we engaged with were kind, knowledgeable and understanding. The store itself is very clean and open. Made it easy for me to actually see the TV we were purchasing (we had to choose between two sizes) and compare it to other models, brands etc. It has a dedicated parking lot and is dog friendly. No six stars? They deserve it. Long story short, the LG TV they sold me was defective. It was replaced with a Samsung equivalent instantly, graciously and helpfully. No mess, fuss or bother. No arguments or excuses--clearly it was not their fault. Now for the bad news (absolutely not their fault): getting Samsung's TV up and running was like having one's life extracted through ears, nostrils, mouth or any other available orifice, using sharp knives. Not 'difficult.' It was excruciating, miserable, awful. Though a long-time customer, I would never go through this again. I still recommend Video Only in Mountain View. Delivery man refused to wear a mask. He put it on to come inside our house when we told him we wouldn't let him in without it. He said, "this is bullshit" under his breath. Once he was in the room to instal our TV he took off his mask. I asked him repeatedly to put it back on, he would for about 10 seconds before taking it off again. He then said, "wearing a mask causes people to get sick." I asked how many houses a day he delivers to and he said about 7. Installation seemed like a two man job. I had to help him lift the TV we just bought. My uncle has cataracts and he cannot see the TV anymore and is postponing surgery until after COVID so we thought an 85 inch tv would be a good compromise. A few notes my uncle wants me to add. They did not let us know we would need HDMI cables in addition to the new TV. Also, the stand for the TV which they recommended doesn't fit properly. Good price! read more

Michael was wonderfully attuned to my needs and we quickly converged on a model that suited me. As a total television ignoramus, I appreciated Michael's layperson-friendly explanations of the TV's features. Michael actually encouraged me to go and seek out competitive prices from other places (spoiler: there weren't any for the particular model I had in mind), sounding totally ready to undercut them. He even pulled up a few different sellers on the spot, thoroughly convinced that their sticker price couldn't be beaten. All this was done with just the right amount of enthusiasm to make a sale without pushy upselling. I just picked up an LG OLED77C9PUB - 77" OLED TV for a price that you will not get anywhere. Now get this. They not only lowered the price to lower than the C9 available in Best Buy but also added a 5 year warranty. And this was including the price they added for delivery charges. What! (No Im not going to publish the price here for obvious reasons - Im mean thats for you guys to find out). But its more than what u can imagine. You wont be sorry. Go visit these guys now. Im serious! No kidding... This includes other TVs like the Sony X950G, or any of the Samsung QLED TVs. You want to go shopping for TVs on Black Friday. I suggest visit this guys first. I was just in the neighborhood on Saturday afternoon. Walked in with my 7 years old Son. I was just browsing for affordable sound system. Donell assisted me and showed me around. I had also told him that I'm just browsing and not ready to buy one today. He gave me his suggestions and space and time to think. He also compared prices on web from Best Buy, Amazon and Costco. He also explained why they get a better price which make sense. Nevertheless I ended up buying the top of the line Samsung 950QT sound bar. Amazing at most sound.
