I stopped by AAA this morning at the Los Gatos location. I've been a member for 15 years and love that they offer many DMV services, which is so convenient. I had some DMV business to take care of and they were ready to serve. They have excellent customer service and wait times are only about 5 minutes. Why go to the DMV when you can go to AAA instead? No appointment needed and the people working are always very kind and helpful. I've come to this branch many times in the past few years, from using their DMV services for registration, to changing the title of my car, and even picking up a temporary handicap tag for my mom, they always make the process as easy as possible. Unfortunately if you do mess up on the paperwork, there often isn't anything they can do, but when I called ahead to ask about certain paperwork recently, they were very helpful and pointed out common mistakes people make that ends up voiding the paper. read more

I needed to go to the DMV to get a temporary disabled placard and recently learned from a friend I could get that done at a AAA office. I made an appointment and only had to wait about five minutes after I arrived. The person who helped me was friendly and knowledgeable. I was given the placard in no time. Been a loyal member since 1998. But had such a bad experience with a condensending claims adjuster that I can no longer stay with this business. She had attitude, made it so difficult that I couldn't exercise my legal right in choosing the repair shop I trusted. When I asked to speak to someone else or a supervisor, she literally refused. I guess 28 years of loyalty meant nothing to the claims adjuster named Martha Arellano. $337 a month for one super vehicle, just to be treated like that over maybe a $1,000 claim. Business 101 P.S. What's funny is after all that, the shop she forced me to, actually mentioned they might coincidentally outsource to the shop I originally wanted (because they specialize in custom off road parts). Horrible experience all the way around. Also nobody at AAA will allow me to speak to a manager which is why I am posting this review. read more

I spent more than 10 total hours across three days trying to register a vehicle through AAA, and my experience at the Los Gatos office on Wednesday, February 4 at 9:00 a.m. was extremely disappointing. For clarity, my Monday and Tuesday visits were at the Modesto location. While their system was down both days and I ultimately could not complete my registration, the staff there was not rude. The issue at Los Gatos was not the system -- it was how I was treated. On Wednesday, I arrived at the Los Gatos AAA office an hour before opening and was the first person in line. When the office opened, I checked in first. Despite this, three people who arrived after me were helped before I was. When I asked why I had not been called, I was told the system was about to reboot at 9:30 and that I would be helped afterward. As the first customer checked in, this should not have happened. When I was finally assisted, the employee appeared to look for reasons to deny my paperwork rather than help complete it, repeatedly consulting a supervisor in a way that felt unnecessary and adversarial. I could not shake the feeling that I was being judged based on my appearance. I had come directly from work as a lineman and was not dressed like most customers in Los Gatos. The situation escalated when she refused to verify my VIN, claiming the vehicle was "modified" and therefore against policy. I am 5'8" tall and could clearly see the VIN through the windshield while standing next to the vehicle. I offered multiple reasonable solutions: reading it aloud, taking a photo, or allowing her to step onto the running board to view it herself. She refused all options and would not even attempt to look. After waiting an additional 10 minutes, I was told to drive 45 minutes to CHP in Milpitas for VIN verification. When I arrived, CHP informed me they are approximately seven months out for VIN verifications and that an appointment is required. This unnecessary referral cost me another two hours. After all of this, I went directly to the DMV and completed everything I needed in approximately 30 minutes. AAA is supposed to make processes like this easier than the DMV. In this case, the opposite was true. Based on this experience, my family and I will be canceling multiple AAA accounts and taking future vehicle and business-related services elsewhere. I would strongly recommend avoiding the Los Gatos office. read more

I have been a AAA member for most of my life, a few gaps here and there when I wasn't driving, but since I got my learner's permit in 1987, way more often than not, AAA was with me in the car. Today I went to this office and was treated so shabbily by their employees, I was stunned. First of all, I had an appointment which they waited fifteen minutes past before finally calling me up to the counter. In that fifteen minutes not one single other client was being helped at the counter, the employees seemed to be just sort of messing around and chatting with each other. THEN He claimed that the DMV would not accept my paperwork because he thought a zero my doctor had written was a one. He had me wait another 10 minutes, while he got his "supervisor" to agree with him. After a few choice words (that I admit I am not proud of), I left. They had said I needed to drive back downtown and have my doctor redo the entire form, more legibly because "The DMV will not accept this at all!" So, after leaving, I drove over to the DMV on N. Santa Cruz. They not only accepted it, but they didn't even question it, as it was clearly, to anyone who doesn't work at this particular AAA office, a zero. Here's the kicker, part of your paid membership is the service of being able to do DMV things without a wait at the DMV office. Well it took the AAA employee and his "supervisor" almost twice as long to NOT do this service as it took the N. Santa Cruz DMV to actually do it. I was in and out of the DMV in about 20 minutes total. Plus the person at the DMV was actually very nice and good at her job. There were two people behind me, and no one ahead of me, at the AAA and three people ahead of me at the DMV, and it still went faster at the DMV. AAA brought back so many memories. Remember the maps you would get to go places. What...You are not that old. NVM. Me neither. ;-) Never thought I would engage with AAA again in this age of GPS and insurance companies now offering roadside assistance. But AAA stop is still apparently relevant for other reasons. I needed a international drivers permit and guess who is the only organization that still offers it in the US! Surprisingly they still have locations everywhere and thankfully one that is close to me. This is a great location. Poonam helped me get my IDP and was very fast and efficient. Thank you Poonam and AAA. BTW, they still have the maps!! I saw a section inside which was full of maps. Update #2 6/7/22 Still no resolvement from my bank or AAA in regards to my claim in March for over $400 that AAA charged me twice b/c they claim they didn't get the first one. Yet the bank said the debit charge did go through. AAA said no. 2nd time this same clerk has done this to me in 2 years. If you can, pay cash. Debit cards don't work and credit cards they charge a fee. Because of this issue, I had to pay a 2nd time with my CC and got charged a CC fee. I gave proof to the bank that I was charged twice (receipts). I should be credited for one charge and my end closed. The issue is between the bank and AAA. They are ones that their machine was not working with the bank. read more

I visited the AAA branch after the person doing a smog check on my car mentioned that AAA can give me the new tags instantly at the branch. I visited the branch in Los Gatos and was in and out in less than 5 minuted with my new tags. It happened the way businesses should operate but seldom do. Disappointing customer "service." Is it "indifference", deception, ignorance or stupidity? I'm writing after having left multiple telephone messages at CSAA "Headquarters" in Walnut Creek -- NONE of which have resulted in a call back. So I'm writing to describe what I discovered -- so that others may not get "tricked" by what I learned about CSAA road-service membership. For reference, I've been a CSAA member for 55+ years (thanks to my parents starting me as a member early in my life). I have multiple insurance policies with CSAA and have previously experienced only excellent service. But not on this one!!! I recently got a bill from CSAA to renew my road-service membership. I was surprised by the bill, as my card for road service contained the written notice that it was "valid thru September 2026". So I called them -- and they told me that since my "auto-renewal" of the membership payment had not been paid (they had a credit card that had been hacked and therefore rejected the payment without my realizing it), even though my current card said "valid thru September 2026" it really only means it was "valid" as long as I paid my renewal payment, which had not happened. So, of course, I paid the renewal -- but I asked why the card said it was going to be "valid" for two more years. I was told to contact their Corporate Headquarters about it. I tried and tried to get someone in authority at CSAA Headquarters to tell me why they would issue a card with the "valid....until" date since I learned from "lower-level" personnel at CSAA that when it had been on "auto-renewal" they automatically issued a card good for a future five-year period, but that when the auto-payment didn't go through, the "valid" card was no longer really valid!!!! It's a good thing I hadn't just discarded the billing statement, relying on my card saying it was valid for a couple more years. I might have had an incident where I needed road service and only then would I discover that the card really WAS NOT "Valid". It seemed to me that their practice was either deceptive, or the result of stupidity on their part -- for issuing a card that purported to be valid (for five years from the last commencement of the "auto-renewal" option which I had implemented). All I wanted was to discuss the situation with someone in Corporate Management, but despite my multiple calls (all with substantive messages left by me) they never responded to my messages. Now I've been a member, and an insurance customer (with five-figure annual premiums) for many, many years. So I didn't think I would be "ignored" by their Corporate folks, but I was. So I decided to do something which is uncharacteristic for me -- to write this complaint for those interested in reading it, and to alert others to their misleading practices. I feel "bad" doing this, because I have always been a loyal and supportive customer of CSAA and have encouraged all five of my children, and my grandchildren, to insure with (and be a road-service member of), CSAA. But at least by doing this, I decided I would "feel" a little better for it, and so here you have it!!! read more

I was at this branch to pay for a DMV Renewal only to be told that that I have to pay a 1.5% FEE if I wanted to use a Credit Card! Why is this the process at AAA and not at Safeway, Walmart or Home Depot!? Why?! Why is the consumer being charged by AAA for credit card fees?! Why are consumers being penalized for AAA's inability to negotiate a better Credit card processing deal!? Most B2C companies are offering better terms including partial payments without interest, while AAA is going the opposite direction. underdeliver and upsell constantly. It's amazing but every encounter with AAA Retail, leaves me wondering about the creative methods AAA invents to screw and under-deliver to your members! Bravo, Bravo! read more

I walked in last week around 4pm to register my out of state car. The receptionist asked if it was private party or dealer purchase and I let her know it was from a dealer. Even though they close at 6pm she told me it was too late and I need to make an appointment and come back. She made an appointment for me for today (Monday) and as I'm driving there (15min before my appointment), I receive a call, text and a voicemail saying my appointment is cancelled. I still went there and talked the same receptionist. Guess why they canceled my appointment last minute? Because it was raining outside. Seriously? You guys won't melt in the rain for doing VIN verification which literally takes a few minutes. The best part is yet to come though. The receptionist had me sit down and called someone to work with me. The person she called told me they can't do dealer purchased out of state registrations, only private party. You gotta be kidding me! Why did you guys not tell me this last week and wasted my time? Bunch of lazy and useless people... read more

I needed an international driving permit and was able to quickly get it at this branch. On a Tuesday morning, I casually stroll into the office and was quickly greeted. The gentleman behind the counter was knowledgeable about my needs and collected the required payments. I was asked to wait in the lobby for about 5 minutes when the lady in charge of international driving permit took my pictures and issue the required documents. A panic feeling came over when I realize my registration expired on Sunday. Couldn't do it online with the DMV. Showed up at AAA office Monday morning without an appointment, but there was no waiting and they took care of the registration in about 2 minutes and gave me the new tags! They took some information, and said that the person does quoting is out and would follow up with me next Monday, which never happened. They also said they have all my current insurance details even if I don't give the declarations. Meanwhile, they said it's better to provide them the declarations. I went to this centre for a Carseat check. Being a AAA member was definitely a benefit since we kind of did this last minute(right around the due date) but Andrew(the Representative who does carseat checks) was extremely helpful and accomodated us in his schedule! Additionally, he did an amazing job of giving us all the important details, nuances and tips for the carseat setup and the carseat we will be using. Our Kitchen and Bathrooms leaked after a thunder storm. AAA Claim Adjuster Rodreiguez located in Las Vegas. We filed the claim in January 2020 he kept sending estimators who were hired by AAA theay always estimated low bids when we asked them to ficx it they refused because they knew it was a low bis inpossible to fix at ta low price. Then the Rodrquez kep arguing with me and was very rude everytime I called him. His Supervisor Tujara did not bother to respond or take any action the total Bill from a contractor was $54,000 but they refused to pay more then $18,000 total when I asked them to please have your estimator contractors fix it they refused finally in March 2021 we gove up and had it fixed ourselves. read more

I came here a week ago. Greeted by the kind lady at the door and then directed to Connie who had no idea what she's talking about. I needed to take the name of my mom off my car title (which is paid off) and Connie said I needed to get it notarized. Which is different than I had been told by another tiple A representative on the phone. The notary they have there overheard the conversation and came over to try and assist. She (rightly so) said she's never notarized this type of thing before. At this point Connie got mad and refused to do it even though the myself and the notary said she was wrong. So I left and had it done elsewhere. WITHOUT NOTARY! As a triple A member since 2005 I know this is not your typical staff member but Connie is rude and refuses to admit when she doesn't know something. Even before the notary disagreement she was very curt and did not answer the questions I had in a nice manner. Love my AAA membership. I recently had a situation where I called for a roadside service and it was a long wait due to the busy time. When the driver arrived he informed me I wasn't covered for that particular call. I explain that when I called the representative assured me I was covered and I would be taken care of. He still continue to say no and he had to leave on another call. I called AAA back and explained the situation. The representatives were very helpful and very kind and eventually put me to the right person to have me taken care of and not left stranded. When they reviewed my account in fact having a motorcycle towed was included In my particular membership, but because I was not informed on my original call to them, they apologized for the mistake and made sure the tow truck driver returned and all was taken care of. Bottom line everyone makes a mistake but it's how you correct that mistake that counts. AAA you have my vote as a five star company. read more

Been a long-time AAA member and for the first time I needed help with some documents. The 800 number transferred me to the Los Gatos branch for attention. I spoke with TJ and he said he would his assistant call me back in a few minutes. I guess he was too high up in the food chain to help a member like me. After 2 hours without a call back, I called again. TJ told me again that he will have his assistant Cindy call me as Cindy was quite busy with another member. And still TJ is not able to help me. Waited for another 3 hours and still have not received a call back. Zero for customer service. They want the business but not the service that is supposed to go along with it. read more
