Stumbled across this tiny cafe and feel like it was my lucky day. I knew it was going to be great when every table was full and there was a buzz of energy within. We shared the delicious chicken salad sandwich on their homemade wheat bread with the soup of the day which was carrot ginger. The sandwich was quite large. Been meaning to check this place out so when a friend came to town, we decided to go. Can't sit inside yet due to COVID, but it was a nice sunny day to eat on the patio. We shared a huge, delicious cinnamon roll and coffee to start. We then shared a veggie/cheddar omelet that came with toast and the best seasoned potatoes. First time to try this little community cafe. Entered the cafe at noon on a Sunday - three of us - two adults and a toddler in the stroller. Maybe half the tables full (10 customers). they offered us a table near the coffee station. We had to have customers move out of the way for us to get the stroller back to the table they gave us. Ordered two cappuccinos and two deli sandwiches with fries. Took twenty minutes to get our coffees. Another 25 minutes later, now with a now fussy toddler, we still didn't have our food. I counted at least 6 employees - two servers, two cooks, a coffee maker, and at least one random employee walking around in back. I finally asked to get our food to go. The sandwiches were ok. Turkey with Bacon was a typical deli sandwich. Same with the Chicken Salad. Fries were cold by the time we got home to eat (3 minutes away). Total bill was $45 plus $5 tip. I can't recommend - Mediocre Food, Poor Service, Expensive for what you get. read more

The Paisley Cafe has always had a welcoming, small-town environment with elevated breakfast and lunch food, but I truly want to shoutout the care the team has gone through to accommodate as many people as possible through these tremendous times. They've completely revamped their menu on weekdays to include delicious to-go dinners for 4 that have all been appetizing. My favorite items to get are the Biscuit Sandwich and Paisley Sandwich. Even normally-throwaway menu items such as the side salad are so delicious, with clearly fresh ingredients (peeled carrots, radish, medley of greens). I can't recommend them enough. read more

What a gem! A little unassuming cafe in Orangevale that I wish was there when I lived down the street 30 years ago. When we walked in we were greeted by cheerful staff and a delicious pastry counter. While we were seated and overlooking the menu I was thinking the music wasn't at all my thing but it was age-appropriate for the staff. But then a magical thing happened. As the restaurant began filling with more people in our age group, the music changed to boomer tunes as if they knew that the customer demographic would enjoy it more than their contemporary pop and they were right! Very thoughtful. Wonderful coffee, breakfast cooked to near perfection (the bacon was a bit too crispy and overdone for me but still decent) and the biscuits. Oh my, a towering biscuit served with blueberry jam that may have been house made it was so good. As huge as the biscuits were I could have used twice the jam but I didn't think to ask for more. As we dined the staff kept bringing out trays of their massive fresh baked cinnamon rolls. "Boy" and "Girl" and what looked like maple bacon cinnamon rolls. The food and service was as if we were guests in their home and the meal was carefully prepared and served graciously. TL:DR would I eat here again? Paisley is a little non chain diner with big taste and a kitchy look. Order hot team and get a fancy tea cup and saucer and an adorable pot of tea in a hand crocheted cozy. I had the special Outragous french toast: chalian toasted to chewy perfection, smothered in stone fruit -- in this case mostly farm fresh plums-- and mascarpone cheese. Yum. My hubby had lox eggs. The creaminess of the eggs was a beautiful appointment to the Lox, with a side of O'brian potatoes, well cooked and not greasy. They sell wonderful baked goods, too. Everything was delicious, service was wonderful, and we left with very full bellies. Given their vegan menu, this may become a more frequent stop for us. My wife and I, along with our 2 year old, have been here about 4 or 5 times in the past 2 months. Usually on Saturday or Sunday around brunch time. First, let me say that this place definitely has one of, if not the absolute best, cups of coffee. I believe they get their coffee from a roaster in Watsonville area. PHENOMENAL coffee that is perfect every single time. My wife and I are usually 1 and done when it comes to cups of coffee, but we usually drink 2 to 3 cups here. I could honestly drink this coffee black because it is so smooth. Secondly, they have, without a doubt, the best biscuits and gravy in the Sacramento Area. Being raised in small town Texas, I have a very high standard when it comes to biscuits and gravy, and quite frankly, Paisley Cafe is right up there with the best I've had. The gravy is FULL of sausage. It is a legitimate meal when ordered as "The Bug Arsed Biscuits and Gravy". The biscuits are delicious and perfectly baked. One half of the biscuit is buried in the gravy and the top half on top and dry to preserve some crispness. Definitely recommend eating the biscuits bottoms first. My wife always orders the Avocado toast and adds smoked salmon to it. She also thinks that Paisley Cafe has the best avocado toast in town. They are not stingy with the avocado portion and the bread is PERFECT. They do not have cups of fruit on the menu, but they always willingly serve whatever fruit is available in back to our son (usually banana, a bit overpriced for a banana, but it keeps the kid occupied while we wait). On today's visit, I decided to change it up a bit and order their biscuit sandwich. It was DELICIOUS. Thick sausage patty, perfectly cooked eggs, biscuit always on point. It fell apart on me after the first bite, but I still dug right in happily. Their potatoes on the side were phenomenal! Would definitely recommend! So why the 3 stars? Simply put, the service. They are friendly people and they do provide good service...when they can. Of the 4 or 5 times we have come, I would say only 1 of the visits had a very pleasant and efficient experience. There seems to be some issues with organization and the flow of the operation. The waiters seem scatter brained and over whelmed. We often have to pull one aside to get a refill of said delicious coffee or even for menus and napkins. Today was one of those rough days. Though I understand that today they were short staffed (possibly due to this Coronavirus panic), this is not an isolated incident or experience. The owner/manager really needs to get a system in place and organize better. Our wait today was ridiculously long and it could have been avoided had there been more organization and direction. I feel like almost every time I come here, I never want to come back due to the disorganized nature of this restaurant and inefficiency of service. However, "just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in!" The food and coffee are too good to never return. Every time we come in, we are hoping for improvements in the service/efficiency, however, we are left disappointed. Ozzie, I challenge you to find a way to make the experience more efficient and enjoyable. This place has the goods, it just needs the service. We will be back, I assure you, but I'm afraid that one day we will give up, not because of the food, but because of the lack of organization. With the exception of our favorite sushi place that we go to EVERY Friday, we NEVER visit the same restaurant more than once in a month, let alone 4 or 5 times in 2 months. What a pleasant surprise in Orangevale, which is famous for its blah, nondescript eateries. I have been here 3 times now, and have not been disappointed in anything that I have tried. The signature sandwiches are delicious and packed with flavor. The fresh, house made pastries are all excellent, and I usually get a couple of cookies to go. To top it all off, they actually know how to poach an egg, which is apparently unheard of in Orangevale. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed. read more

Husband and I tried this place for the first time today and we truly enjoyed it! Not only is it very cute and quaint, the food was delicious and the service was great. I had the biscuit sandwich which was huge and yummy. Biscuit tasted very fresh, soft and flaky. The homemade sausage patty was great as well. Husband had the corned beef hash and enjoyed it very much. We both left very full and satisfied, not too full to get a treat from the bakery case though. :) We will definitely be coming back again soon. read more
