The setup makes everything so much easier and faster, and way less messy. After reading other reviews, I started bringing extra towels, brushes, and my own shampoo since my pup has such a thick coat, and that's worked out perfectly. One time I went by myself, and the staff kindly helped me lift my dog into the bath, which I really appreciated. They're always friendly and willing to help. I also love that they have demo products you can try, and they smell amazing! Overall, such a convenient, thoughtful setup that makes bath time so much less stressful. The Good: great people, great grooming and baths and "CAGE FREE" . The Bad: April 1st they began charging $25 per dog for a "cageless service fee". The problem is they don't have any cages in the grooming area. And if you bring 2 dogs in together then it $50 before you do anything!! You don't have a choice to do cageless or caged. One of the great things about Dirty Dogs is that it is cage free. So find another way to increase prices more legitimately, and until then I will have to think twice about coming in again or as often. A friend of mine said that he cut back on the amount that he tips to make up for this charge. That's not fair to the groomers. But it's his way of letting you know that he doesn't approve of this frivolous fee either. read more

While visiting San Diego, I took my dog to Del Mar Dog Beach and definitely didn't want to bring a sandy, dirty pup back to our Airbnb. I searched on Google and found Dirty Dogs and I'm so glad I did! I was greeted by the manager, Gage, who was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable from the start. He walked me through the entire self-wash process and even helped lift my 95-pound pitbull into the tub with ease. He explained all the tub features and the different shampoos they offer, which made the experience feel simple and stress-free. I chose the Coconut Coast shampoo, and I'm so happy I did my Rizzy Poo smelled amazing! The fragrance lasted, and I even received compliments from family members I was visiting while in San Diego. Gage also recommended the Coconut Coast deodorizer, which I now use not only on my dog but in my car too it smells that good! Since I struggle with brushing my dog's teeth, he suggested their brushless dental drops, which have made dental care so much easier for us. Price-wise, I think they are a bit on the higher end, comparable to mobile grooming rates. They should definitely improve appointment scheduling by implementing an online booking system. He was super knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. I was a bit worried about getting my large dog into the tub, but he didn't hesitate to step in and help me carry him in safely. It made the whole process so much less stressful for both me and my dog. ​After noticing my dog's skin was looking a bit inflamed, he recommended a mud scrub. I decided to try it, and the results were fantastic! My dog seems so much more comfortable now. ​I would definitely recommend stopping by and asking for the mud scrub if your dog has any skin issues. 'I took my Alaskan Malamute to Dirty Dogs grooming salon, and I couldn't be happier with the experience! Ali was our groomer and he was outstanding. My girl had a lot of ocean-induced knots in her undercoat that I just couldn't manage, despite brushing her every day. Ali was amazing from the start. He took the time to explain his grooming process and what he would do to get her coat back in shape. When I picked her up, I was blown away--she looked incredible! Today I had the best experience with full service grooming on my golden retriever. I am very particular about his grooming because I like him to be a little longer haired and people tend to over cut. Ali did his grooming today and he was fantastic! He asked me about what I wanted and spent time making sure he knew exactly what to do. He did an amazing job. Boon looked beautiful and show quality. Got to Dirty Dogs and the tubs were all full. I understand that several people want to wash their dogs on a Sunday morning. Was told I was next in line and they would call me as soon as a tub was available. I walked my dog around the block and looked in and saw people an empty tub. I walked in the store just to see another customer who arrived after me putting their dog into the bath. The employee told me oh I will have a tub ready in a couple of minutes. I sat around waiting for my tub that was only 2 minutes later for 18 minutes. I can understand things are busy but the outright lie by the employee frustrating. I was loyal customer until today. However, we always try to book with Ali for full grooming services when we can because he gives the best haircuts, and our anxious dog feels at ease with him. We have had other groomers work with our dog and they take a very long time and she always still sheds afterwards. Ali is so friendly and the ultimate professional. What a fun treat to wash my dog here! Today I had a double doggie date with a great friend. It started at dog beach in Del Mar, then to Dirty Dogs for a clean up before brunch. My friend and I washed our dogs next to each other and had so much fun in the process. They give you everything you need from shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, towel etc. I did pay a little extra to have my dogs nails trimmed at the end which was done quickly. They had plenty of stations available, so I brought my dog in and proceeded to wash him. Friendly, close to the beach, nice tub, wand, water pressure, and blow dryer. Unfortunately, even though they advertised that they have everything necessary, they had no combs or brushes suitable for a dog with longer hair. When I asked for a comb, a pin brush or a slicker brush the person had no idea what I was asking for, and suggested that if I wanted one, I could buy one. Usually I comb and brush him while drying him off, because if I don't, he will dry with mats. 24$ is a little spendy for not having the proper supplies. They only had a plastic human brush and a scalp massager brush suitable for a very short coat. read more

His hair is all choppy he's had many haircuts and looks like if I decided to pretend I was a groomer. I normally would go to Gabriel Fietoso or Fabiola who are absolutely wonderful!!! Megan is INCREDIBLE!! Like wow. I'm in a group chat on Instagram with a bunch of other Samoyeds in San Diego and everyone always raves about her. We usually go to other dirty dogs locations and have always had fantastic experiences but Megan is next level! She not only does a great job grooming but the dogs all love her. I have a really fluffy dog (takes about 4 hours to groom) and she said she knows dogs get tired of standing all the time so she had him take breaks where they would do zoomies around the back area, she played with him, and even took him outside for a potty break. My dog came out looking as spiffy as ever and simultaneously had the best time ever. Friends of ours have said their dogs actually get excited whenever they get to the groomers now Also - I took our foster dog here for a do it yourself scrub about a year ago. Ali at Dirty Dogs Solana beach : In general all the groomers are very gentle. My dog's favorite is Ali. He does a beautiful job with my malti poo Xali. He says, "come to Ali baba" Ali is very nice. I also have an older chihuahua that hates nails trimmed. Normally other groomer would put a restraint on her, but at Dirty dogs they are patient with her until she settles down, and they trim her nails without restraints.
