The noise level was extremely high...we literally had to yell just to have a conversation with each other. Service was also very slow. It took about 15 minutes just to be acknowledged at the bar, and close to 30 minutes to actually receive a drink. When I finally ordered, I told the bartender to make her favorite drink. She made something that included raw egg whites (which I later learned is common in certain cocktails), but it wasn't mentioned or explained at the time. A few hours later, I became very sick...vomiting and dealing with what felt like severe food poisoning all night and through the next 24 hours. After looking into it, I suspect it may have been related to the raw egg used in the drink. Just something to be aware of if you're ordering drinks like a whiskey sour or anything that may include egg whites. After getting our receipt (which you need for the speakeasy entry code), we checked out the speakeasy portion, but the vibe there wasn't great either..pretty must the same as the other part of the bar. We ended up leaving within about five minutes. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype for us....between the noise, long wait times, and how we were treated, it just wasn't enjoyable. For comparison, the bar next door, Archibald, felt much more welcoming. Maybe regulars have a different experience, but as first-time guests, we were not impressed.

My friend and her wife had Raspberry mojitos. This is a speakeasy hidden inside Wishbone and Flint. There is also a door outside you can find sorta easy. All the bartenders are fabulous but I always chat most and ask for Becca and Derek. But from the very first phone call, Sophie at Blackland Distillery showed nothing but grace and patience. She allowed us to keep pushing back our reservation without a hint of frustration, and that alone deserves a standing ovation. When we finally arrived, what could've been a ruined evening turned into one of the most memorable nights we've had. Every single person we encountered at Blackland was incredibly kind and welcoming. Marshall greeted us with warmth, and Jeremy? He's not just a bartender--he's a cocktail artist. The drinks he crafted for us were next-level, easily some of the best we've ever had. He truly understands spirits and how to elevate them. We were genuinely torn when it was time to leave for our dinner reservation at Wicked Butcher--honestly, we could've stayed sipping Jeremy's creations all night. Before we left, we got to meet Sophie in person (she stuck around!), and by that time, we had sampled every single spirit Blackland offers.
