There were reviews with some negative feedback but I chose to accept their service regardless. The price was quite reasonable, however there was a bit of complication with their glass supplier getting the product to the shop. They worked diligently on getting the job completed as soon as delivery was done. Since it had taken longer than expected, the mechanic helped us with a generous incentive for our wait. They were respectful, understanding, and very professional. I am very pleased that I went ahead with their service & have a great new windshield on my car. Update 2: Well this saga just keeps going. I was able to get the leak addressed but driving down the road this morning and a crack has appeared from the passenger side corner that I've been having trouble with. I did call the shop back and they asked me to bring it in, so Monday I'll update this again about what has been done. Looking at the crack there are no impact spots and it simply just comes from the side of the windshield so I believe due to the sealant not being properly placed in the first place put extra pressure on the window and just the slight vibrations of driving and the misplacement cracked it. We will see how the shop handles this and if they do right by their customers and fix their mistake. I can ignore the broken plastic pieces around the windshield but to go through all this to simply end with a broken windshield again is frustrating. The rest of this review is TBD. I've left my original review up because I truly felt this place was worth a shot but unfortunately I have a disappointing update. After driving my car for a day I could hear wind whistling in so I reached out to get this addressed and they told me to bring it up next week. Well I dropped it off, requested a call or text when it was finished which I didn't receive, not a big deal but they didn't pull the window off and make sure to do a proper seal they just tried to do a patch job. I didn't mind that it looked ugly if it was functional but now that it's rained 3 days I have water dumping into my car from the underneath where the window did not properly seal. In addition to this my windshield wipers also are not working correctly. The drivers side if coming over the edge and they are catching each other. I am leaving 2 stars because they did repair the crack in my wife's windshield and I would go back for that, but I would not have them fully replaced my windshield again. For the price I saved, it's now going to cost me more in the damage to the carpet and having to get it fixed again. I have not priced yet what another company will charge me to pull off that windshield and reseal it but my guess is I should have just paid Safelight the first time. I stumbled upon this business through a Reddit recommendation and didn't initially see the reviews and I am glad I didn't. Firstly, they texted me a quote I couldn't believe. They beat out the next closest windshield replacement quote by almost $300. They texted me a quote after hours, then booked, and preformed the service the next day. In addition to the speed, price, and quality after I dropped my GMC off I was driving my wife's car when I noticed a crack in her windshield and when I came to pick up my car I asked if they could quote and book her a repair. Again they beat the next closest crack repair quote by $76, allowed us to drop the car off for them overnight to repair the next day since they were waiting to receive a part for their machine and it was basically closing time. After reading the poor reviews this shop has gotten I personally feel that those prior ones were just attacking a business that truly is out here trying to help the average consumer. If you have $980 to spend on a windshield through Safelight (actual quote I received) than that's great, but if not, why not take a chance on this shop? For $375 I fixed my windshield and my wife's, felt prioritized, and for my ladies out there felt safe and not taken advantage of. Keep up the good work! As a side note if I was suggesting one way to improve with future customers, a better follow up system for when the vehicles are done would have been nice. While I had all day off for both repairs I did have to just show up to see if my car was done and did have to call in to see if my wife's was done so I could see this impact future customers but that certainly won't stop me from returning with any additional glass and possibly tire needs! read more

FOREWARNING: Do NOT overlook the bad reviews on this company! They HAVE to have false reviews or the reviewers didn't realize it was shotty work! Do NOT get any work done from the Merriam KS location! They are not good people, doing shady work and they will not make things right! We brought our brand new car into their shop for a driver's side back window repair. What should have cost me $200, ended up costing me over $1500 in damages! The technician who worked on my car presented himself like an unqualified child. He obviously was having a tough time getting things apart on my tight, brand new car so it seems he used brut and might and tore it open by using any means possible, even if that meant leaving behind cosmetic and structural damage! This resulted in so much damage, especially cosmetic damage. Not only does the new window have a 3" deep scratch on it, but the rubber seal is incorrectly installed with cuts and gouges within and not laid in the correct way, the triangular connector piece on the inside was broken and scratched (and actually taken from me without my approval!), the side trim on both sides of the window is scratched, the chrome trim is scratched, the rubber seals also have multiple cuts and gouges taken from them due to wrongfully installing them and trying to force them in. The actual window corner doesn't meet up and match- it isn't put together quite right. Rain could definitely seep through into my brand new car. The door wasn't even put back together tightly and when I shut it, glass fallout was in the bottom that they didn't vacuum out! I actually cut my finger pretty bad on it and my kids could have been really hurt by the glass poking out between the door! They said this is normal and you can't get all the glass out, ever! Wow! We knew right away from the demeanor of the people working there that they couldn't solve anything, that we would need a manager, so we asked the young technician for the owners card. He gave me a generic card without owners information and walked away, started dancing like he was proud of the damage he caused! We didn't feel safe so we promptly left. Contacted shop through the website page to ask for Owner name/phone number/contact details and the workers refuse to give us any info. Cannot find any info on owner online. Although the workers offered to fix some of the damage, they did such a poor job, we would NEVER allow them to touch our car again. We also need ALL of the damage fixed as this is a brand new car that was brought to them in mint condition. We ended up taking our car to a collision center which found $1500 of damage made by Discount Glass. Discount Glass workers are refusing to pay it. They explained that their store owner/manager is out of town this week, without forwarding them any of our info. If I was a manager of a store and this happened to one of my customers, I would want to know ASAP and also fix the issue ASAP! Now, we will have to sue them and settle in court. I should have known by the amount of razor blades in their driveway that the workers were NOT top quality! Lazy, shady & under qualified workers! I can't complain too much because they were the cheapest I could find. They performed good service, completed it quickly, and they have a warranty on the windshield. However, they clearly don't pay much attention to cleanliness when installing windshields. Mine was left completely covered in cured resin/adhesive with fingerprints and even some silicone adhesive on the glass itself. Gonna take a lot of work to clean that up myself now that it's all dried... not a deal breaker, but I would've expected a little more attention to cleanliness. Damage to the vehicle paint, adhesive all over interior, plastic pieces broke and left to bounce around internally. they will not take any responsibility. Had a rock fly into my windshield which caused at first a hardball indent at the top of the glass. Within days, the line crossed over to 75% of the windshield. After contacting a few major glass repair companies, i contacted Discount Auto Glass in Merriam. Their price was $130 cheaper than the major names which gave a cause for concern. Upon questioning the quality of their glass, they assured me it was the same quality and follows all state regulated laws. Decided to give them a try. Have a 3:00 appt, dropped off the car and at 4:15, received a call it was finished. The replacement looks great (with the blue-band sun visor), glass in perfect condition and as far as i can tell.... no leaks. For such a great discount, i do personally recommend this business for car glass replacement. read more

Took my car in to get a rock chip repaired before it started to spread. The technician caused the chip to crack and spread. I was told the crack probably wouldn't spread up into my line of sight, only down. Then they tried to sell me a new windshield with a $20 discount. When I expressed I was having a hard time understanding why I should pay for the new windshield when the technician was the one who caused the chip to spread, I was told since the chip was already there, it wasn't their fault that it cracked, even though it was totally the technician's fault. The next day, the crack had spread down further, and started to spread across the windshield. I know the shop's prices are cheap, but kick in the extra money and spend it elsewhere. read more

A rock hit my windshield a few weeks ago and it instantly spidered across the passenger side. No way was I getting it fixed. I started calling around for prices and I was quoted from over $300 up to $650. Jeep windshields are special and factory windshields cost double or more. I called my insurance guy just to see if their was any coverage I might not be aware of, nope, but he did suggest Discount Auto Glass saying he has heard prices far below other places. I called and was quoted $150 or $300 for factory. Plus a $20 discount if you go to the shop versus them coming to you. I was a little shocked! Things got a little hectic and finally I was able to get in today to get the new windshield. The gentleman working, Gary I presume from our email exchanges, was very friendly and very humble when I told him he was going to drive his competition out of business. He had my windshield replaced in 20 minutes. The waiting room is bare. There is an empty snack machine and soda machine, an empty water dispenser, and an empty coffee pot. That was fine with me. I don't need charged more for frills, there is a gas station on the corner if I can't go 20-30 minutes without something. If you need a repair or replacement, make sure Discount Auto Glass is on your list. Good, honest, local business that blows away the competition. I have to add, as a female, the service really stood out to me. We all know how difficult it can be for females in auto places. Taken advantage of, talked down to, etc. You won't get that here. On 10/04/2016 (Invoice#67025) I had my windshield replaced at Discount Auto Glass of KC, (Northstar Retail I, Inc.). On 05/04/2018 the rearview mirror fell off taking a chuck of glass with it. This is my Discount Auto Glass story. Over this past weekend during a trip to St. Louis, a large rock flew off of a work truck and right into my windshield. This immediately resulted in a large crack (6"+) extending down from my rear view mirror. I panicked because 1.) this was my first experience with windshield damage and 2.) I knew this was going to be a pain in the butt to replace at a decent price. I made a claim with my insurance company, and they told me my $1500 deductible would apply in this situation...so, too bad, so sad. A work shop they suggested quoted me about $500 (this led to a change in coverage and insurance companies, but that's another story). After receiving quotes from at least 10 different shops in St. Louis, Chesterfield, and Kansas City, I was becoming frustrated at the cost AND time required to replace my windshield. Either it was waaay too expensive ($300-$500), or I was given a time-frame of 1-2 weeks...special order, custom job, blah, blah, blah. I found Discount Auto Glass and Tire on Yelp, and read the ONE review at the time. I said, screw it, and sent a message to Gary asking how much they'd charge to replace a windshield on a 2012 Scion xD. He quickly responded with, "$185, extra $30 if the seal needs replaced. When can you get in?" I asked if that Thursday would be ok, he told me that would be fine. When it came time, it took me a while to find the shop. I'm new to this area and wasn't sure if I had passed it up or not. I called the company to clarify directions, and the man who answered was curt, maybe a little irritated with my lack of knowledge of where Shawnee Mission Parkway was. Despite frustrations, I found it. The area looks a little sketchy, with broken down warehouses and worn out signs. Whatever, I always have my pepper-spray on me. There was not a lot of chit-chat between me and the technician who asked for my name and my keys. It felt a little rushed, however, I did arrive about 20 minutes late due to my directional challenges. The previous description of the waiting room is spot on. Bare, no magazines or fluffy stuff like coffee and vending machines. I thankfully remembered that review and brought my own coffee and a fully charged iPhone. There WAS a TV playing the morning news, and one other customer. From the moment I arrived to the moment I checked out, it took exactly an hour. That's pretty impressive. The total bill after tax came to $220 (the seal did need replacing). I asked the tech what quality of glass they offer, and he said that there are certain market standards and their glass meets those standards. He also said if I wasn't satisfied or if there were any complications, to contact them and they would fix the issue. He instructed not to wash my car for a few days and to not slam my doors while the new parts settled. The new windshield made it all the way home (30 minutes) in a torrential down pour, so I'll go ahead and say it passed the test. As far as quality, I did not see any issues with warping or bubbles--a woman on Google reviews mentioned warped glass and the need for a second replacement. I did notice that some of the black dots on the outer edges of the glass near the mirror were faded. Do I care about this? No. I saved anywhere from $100-$400, so I won't throw a hissy about the little things. Overall, it was a quick and pain-free experience. I understand the auto business is fast-paced and competitive, but the lack of excellent customer service is what leaves me at 4 stars instead of 5. I'd definitely recommend them. read more

I want to be clear that the shop itself was fine. They were polite, did the job quickly and efficiently, and were perfectly nice. The headquarters and guy on the phone on the other hand....ugh! I called initially and got an estimate of between $260 and 320 for my windshield replacement. I get that this is a range because they needed the VIN to find out exactly which glass we need. So then when he called with my quote it was $349. Already above what I was originally told. So today I just got the job done and the bill came to $385. Apparently the quote I was given was before tax. That's super frustrating. When given a quote, I expect that quote is what I'll be paying. I called the guy at the headquarters and he treated me like I was stupid for not knowing there would be tax on top. "A boggling number of people think sales tax just isn't a thing" he told me. No, dude. People are smarter than that. They understand that sales tax exists, but they also understand that a quote is what you pay, not the pre-tax amount. The service here was fine, but be prepared to pay more than you are initially told. Never going back. Go elsewhere and probably pay less in the end. read more

I knew it would be several hundred $$ and wanted to be sure I wasn't overpaying for it. Found these guys - in fact they were the second place I called. I got a quote which sounded good but I proceed to gather a few more quotes. This place was the least expensive, by a good margin. Made an appointment, they replaced my windshield promptly and perfectly - it looks just like new and just like the original factory glass. Every step of the way was easy, they were very friendly, the tech even came out to have me come back and take a look at some buckling weather stripping below my windshield, just so I was aware of it. IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE -100 STARS, I WOULD. I had a terrible experience. I brought my car in to get my drivers side window replaced. They told me it was done, so I went out and immediately tested it to hear a loud screeching noise (glass still in the door) and my window barely rolling up. I went back in and told them right away and the desk person asks the technician "did you test this window"? The technician told him yes. WHAT. If you tested it then why on earth would you give it back to me in this condition and tell me it's done? So then while I'm sitting in my car they come out and try to dig out more glass and jam my window up and down and put wd40 in it, and now my motor doesn't work right either. My window wont roll up and down correctly, it's very slow and gets stuck. It worked just fine before I took it in there to have the window put in. Tried to tell them that but no use. I should have spent the extra $55 and went with Safelite, would have saved me money in the long run since I have to replace the motor and possibly the rotor now too! Thanks for wasting my money and time. Terrible workmanship. Then the office in Wichita called me that morning and asks if I successfully got my windshield replaced. After calling around to several shops to get an auto window replaced, these guys gave me one of the lowest quotes. I called them back and set up an appointment for the work to be done the next day. I showed up at the time they suggested. They didn't have my part ordered or had record of my appointment. I chalked it up as an honest mistake, accepted an apology and we set up another appointment for the next day. later on that day I received a call from them rescheduling me to a later time the next day just to make sure my part will be in. Well, since I've put windshields in the last three cars I've owned, apparently because I drive I-435 I've had some experience at this. So I knew that $300. was going to be a pretty good ball park figure for my windshield. Discount Auto Glass had a far more reasonable quote and i decided that since glass is glass, I mean it has to meet certain legal standards to be installed in a car, I'd go with them. After all I had Safelite come to my workplace a few years ago for an installation and that windshield leaked until the day I traded the car. There are other considerations I hadn't made. I asked for and got a email quote from "Gary." He offered to schedule me for an appointment as soon as I wanted, which turned out to be in 45 minutes. So I arrived to an empty shop, both of the employees were working on cars, and when the guy came in and asked if he could help, I told him my name and that I had a 9:30 appt. He looked at me as though he had no idea what I was talking about. This is, of course, because he didn't know what I was talking about. Apparently "Gary" is somewhere else setting appointments. Well, ok, no biggie, let's install my windshield. Yet no. The only windshield they had for my car was just installed on another car. But the computer still reflected the one they had in inventory because the guy who didn't know what I was talking about hadn't updated the inventory since doing the install. Ok, so now I have to come back this afternoon and they'll install the windshield they're going to get between now and then. I arrive at the appointed time, enter the store and the very same guy says, "Can I help you?" Not a clue who I am. I gave him my name, blank stare, still nothing. I told a short version of this morning's story and mentioned the car and NOW he knows what I'm talking about. In his defense I have to say that when I asked him to hang my new auto dimming mirror that I supplied, he did so without hesitation. He also sprayed my car with some air freshener which I really liked. But this whole not recognizing the guy who's already been here once TODAY,is kinda off-putting. So I leave my car and go nearby to shop while they're working on it. I returned shortly after the time he told me carrying two bags of stuff I bought. I said, " Am I ready?" I dare you to say out loud what he said to me. YES! He said, "Can I help you?" Again I said, I'm here to pick up my car." I gave him my name. "I'm not following you." is the response. Finally we connected...again. and he informed me my car was indeed ready and it would now be $30 dollars more than I was quoted. "Why?" I foolishly asked. "We had to replace the seal around the windshield." ON A 2 YEAR OLD CAR!?!?! I doubt that it had failed. It's more likely they just cut through the seal to get the window out and just pass along the charge to the unsuspecting dummy paying for it, because, 1. How are they going to prove it unless they're standing in the shop, which you know they're not going to let you do. and 2. How many people would actually challenge this? I mean the thing could leak if this seal isn't correct so most people would pay it. I paid for it too, I balked but I paid for it. I got in the car and picked up this tiny little clip that was laying on the dash right in front of me, how someone would miss that I can't figure, and I do hope it isn't critical because it's still laying on my passenger seat. Then I started to pull out of the space they'd left it in and just as the light on the dash came on telling me a door was open the passenger door swung open. Fortunately, I had only gone about ten feet. I got out closed it and left. It was at the first corner that I noticed that somehow the speaker on my left doorpost was hanging in mid air. It has nothing to do with the windshield it's attached to the door, so I have to assume that someone bumped it with their butt while installing the windshield and simply didn't realize it. Of course the person who put my car back outside might have, possibly, conceivably, (I know I'm asking a lot) noticed and snapped it back in place, but this is the same person who didn't see the plastic clip right in front of them. So as we all know, you get what you pay for. I'm on a budget and I got what I could afford, sad. I haven't washed the car nor has it rained or snowed so we'll see about leaks soon enough. I took two cars for a windshield replacement, I had appointments for 12 and 1 that day. I took time so i could drop off both car and be able to pick it up. I assure the person that received my keys that i would be back at 4 pm to pick up the cars. I called in at 4 to let them know i was on my way and to see if the cars were done, their response is that one was done the second one it is on the shop. I got there around 5 because traffic issues well i get there to find out that they just brought in the first car the second wasn't worked on. So I had to wait an hour for them to finish and ask them not to touch the other. Don't trust their worth would be my number one suggestion. Keys are not secured i could just walked in there and grabbed the keys and walk out. Also upgrade your bell it's only like 10 dollars for a regular bell, can't believe i have ring a cow bell and peak in the shop to talk to someone. In the end i end up wasting my time, gas and 2 other people to get both car home that day, they should have pay me for going over there. Solution call SafeLite although their prices are more expensive if you actually call in they tend to give you discounts and the difference is no more than 40 dollars, to make sure it gets done on time and a good fix with a good warranty.
