It seems to be a trend with me that I let a small crack in my windshield grow into something resembling a lightning bolt and before you know it I end up back at Safelite. I love that it's so easy to make appointments online and you can even enter your insurance information and pay all from the comfort of the couch. I literally did all of this on my cell phone, it was that easy. When I showed up for my appointment I hung around in their (albeit small) waiting room and the windshield was replaced quickly and with no issue. I've also used this location to come to my house and do repairs on small cracks which I highly recommend as it's way cheaper and faster so don't be like me and let it get out of hand and call them asap! read more

I was directed to file on Safelite by my insurance when my 2 driver's side windows got busted in on my 2020 Tesla Model Y. It's now more than 40 days later and I still don't have my service completed, nor do I know when it will be done. My windows were broken on October 15. The soonest Safelite's scheduling could get me in was October 24. Okay, fine. But then I got a call a few days later from the Shawnee office, saying they had to special order the windows in because they didn't have them in stock, and the soonest they could actually get me in was November 3. Not great, but I get it. So I get to bring my car in on November 3; I drop it off at 8am right when they open. Then I got a call a few hours later saying they were only able to replace the *back* driver's side window, as they had ordered the wrong window for the *front* driver's side window. The response I got was basically "we'll order the right window but we don't know when it will get here." Now I'm pretty irked because the weather is getting colder and they can't crash-wrap my window because the Model Y doesn't have a frame around the window, so I'm basically left without a safe method of transportation for an unknown amount of time. It's been a week since my appointment and nobody has reached out to me. I just got off the phone with the Shawnee office, and they said they don't expect the window in until November 17, and then once they get it in, they'll call me to setup my next appointment. That makes it two (2!) weeks out from the original appointment; they couldn't have expedited shipping? Or at least told me "hey it will be a couple weeks?" They couldn't even guarantee that I could get a same-day or next-day appointment when the window gets in, because they only have a couple people that know how to work on Teslas and they don't want to overbook them. I called on the 17th, and they said it wouldn't be in until the 27th. I just called (I'm writing this on the 27th) and they don't know where it is, and somebody will call me back. I don't know why this is such an issue for them, and I'm all out of empathy at this point. My car is not rare. Why do they take forever to order windows -- especially after making a mistake with the first order -- and why do they only have "a couple people that work on Teslas"? And why is their communication with the customer non-existent? I'm sitting here realizing I should have just taken my car to Tesla's service department, which -- while still not great, especially around insurance claims -- at least could have gotten this done weeks ago. The actual service was fast and efficient. The installer arrived and was done within 30 minutes. I have no complaints about the installer. He was polite, pleasant and did good work. However, the scheduling was a cluster... I made the appointment on 051825 for 052325. The appointment was confirmed on 052025. I received a call that day and they needed the vin number for my vehicle. I did not have it at that time and had to call back. I sat waiting for 20 minutes on their customer service line before I was finally able to speak with a customer service rep and provide the information. I took a vacation day in order to have the work done. On the day of the appointment (052325, between 1200-500 PM) at 1210 I received a call from a customer service rep telling me that they did not have the part, and that the installer may or may not be able to get the work done on that day. So, I voiced my displeasure (no profanity used and no name calling). The customer service rep ended up hanging up on me. I then had to call customer service and again waited 20 minutes to speak with someone to reschedule the appointment. I then rescheduled the work to be done on 060225. We had our windshield replaced yesterday at the Safelite Shawnee, KS location on our Nissan Xterra. No issues with the appointment and installation, however the interior of our vehicle was left a mess. Front mats covered in footprint debris, dirt, shop yuck, and door jams covered in what appeared to be muddy snow/salt residue. Though we got a new windshield, we we're very disappointed our vehicle wasn't returned to us in the same condition we left it, and it was clean. We also didn't appreciate having to return home, vacuum and clean up the mess in frigid temps. If this is the shops standards, then we won't ever return. We've used Safelite on MO side and never had this problem. Please tighten up your standards. read more

After a rock hit our windshield, we scheduled online with Safelite to have them come to our home to repair. A call the morning of said they couldn't come to us and we had to come into the shop. One day later, on the day of the appointment, they call and say they can't take our car at the Olathe location and instead we need to make a 30 min drive to Shawnee Mission. So, once more, both my husband and I move around our schedule to visit the SM location. We arrive on time for the appointment and are met with Ashley, the receptionist, who states we need to reschedule because "with one rain drop we cannot repair your windshield." The store manager, Sara Jenkins, stated that they cannot predict the weather and therefore the additional change is outside her control. We suggested, as a business focused on providing service they missed areas of opportunity to utilize a booking system that knows which cars can and cannot be serviced remotely as well as warning customers that rain can impact the ability to work or not. It seems as if Safelite has many opportunities to improve the customer experience. Additionally, Sara was defensive, condescending and outright rude to work with when met with customers who are very rightfully frustrated with their run around which was easily avoided. Safelite is not a mom and pop shop and is woefully behind on their technology solutions for scheduling, informing customers of potential delays, and overall communication. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I scheduled online as a recommendation from Progressive, my insurance carrier for the past 15+ years. A rock hit my windshield coming back from the airport the other day. I booked through their app, and they booked it to change the windshield at my workplace. I thought... great! Come the morning of the appointment... I get a phone call saying they couldn't do the windshield outside of the shop. My particular vehicle had to be done in store. I questioned... why doesn't your system know that during scheduling? Reluctantly I took off time from work, scheduled a different day, as did my wife to bring me back home and share her car. Then I get a call the evening before I'm supposed to take my car in to the shop. They said... "we're just going to have to move this from Friday to Tuesday." I said, "no, I've told you last week and this week this can only be done on a Thursday or Friday." I end up getting rescheduled at their Shawnee Mission store, from Olathe, when I work in Lawrence. Ok... frustrating but I've got to get the windshield replaced. More time off work, drove to SM. I got up early, got the kids off to school, drove 30+ minutes there, to be met with Ashley at the front desk who said, "we're going to have to reschedule this if there's rain." I asked to explain this more. She said if there is "so much as 1 rain drop, they cannot replace the windshield because of safety cameras built in." I said that was unacceptable, and I'm very frustrated. I called my wife who was waiting in the parking lot, because we needed to decide what we were going to do, now that I'm being told the vehicle cannot be touched at all because there's definitely rain happening today. Sarah Jenkins, presumably the manager? She never introduced herself, she simply came out and interrupted my phone call to my wife in the parking lot. Sarah said, "there's 100 Solutions to any problem." I said, "great- let's discuss." She was extremely condescending toward a very rightfully frustrated customer. The giant smirk on her face tells me that she enjoys behaving poorly toward frustrated customers and this may not be the first time. I tried explaining her message is totally different than what I was greeted with. The first message was to reschedule. She cut me off and said "what more do you want? I've fixed your problem! I'll get you a rental car. Enterprise owes us a favor." I said, well I'd like to provide feedback on the service and my perspective. She said, "I've fixed your problem, I don't know why you're still talking." I said... with your attitude I will take my business elsewhere if you cannot realize the inconveniences that have been caused. Sarah Jenkins replies, "great, I'll cancel your appointment." I obviously cannot recommend this place. I have never interacted with Safellite before, but what a poor first impression. It was more akin to an experience you would have going to local owned mom and pop glass store, that's burnt out on life... and sees the customer as an inconvenience. Apparently their booking technology, training for staff, and accountability for young managers like Sarah is very lacking. Please avoid Safellite. Safelite quoting on glass replacement is only online and computerized. You cannot speak to a human. I got a quote for replacement of my rear window with an electric sliding window for my 2021 F150. $665.97 was what they quoted me and I paid in advance with a credit card. I drove an hour to their shop the next day only to find out the quote I received was only for the small sliding window. They wanted another almost $700 for the whole window. It kinda felt like a bait and switch. You CANNOT speak to a real person to make sure you are getting the appropriate quote. It sucks. I am getting the whole window replaced by Pro Glass for $675 total. what ever happened to customer service? Is saving a few bucks by going automatic and away from hiring a real person worth your reputation? read more

made my appointment on line on 1/30. The appointment was for today 1/31 at 9.30 AM. the website asked for the VIN number which I entered. It said they had the right kind of replacement glass. They gave me a quote of $1335.57. I went to the store at 9.20 AM today. The lady at the desk checked me in. I asked her if the lane keeping assist feature would work after the windshield change. She went in and asked someone and I was told that it would not work. For that feature to work they would have to get another kind of windshield and the cost would now be $3100.00 !! Waiting room was approximately eight chairs with TV and a beverage station (coffee and water). Staff was polite , friendly and professional. Scheduling was a pain as my wife reported it and gave them instruction to call or email me to get scheduled but they kept calling and emailing her. When I finally called myself the young lady taking the calls wasn't the most efficient or knowledgeable about the process. So I get it scheduled, the guy comes to my work and is nice and efficient but the seal job of the windshield has areas of excess sealant sticking out on the inside and outside. Concerns me for leaks. I did an email survey that was emailed to me but apparently they only ask if you'd like follow up contact, they don't actually do it. I'll pay more next time to use local Pops place. read more

On Wednesday afternoon a rock hit my windshield and cracked it to the point I'd need it replaced. I was able to book an appointment with Safelite through our insurance company's website as early as the next day, but I opted for a Friday afternoon appointment. The service tech, Aram, gave me a call to say he was on his way and arrived shortly after. He explained what he needed to do and got to work. Less than an hour later he knocked on our door and said he was done. He gave me instructions on how long to wait before removing the tape or getting the car washed. He collected my deductible payment and said they'd take care of the rest and deal with my insurance company. Great, professional service. My new windshield is perfect! I know Safelite is more expensive than other places, but with my insurance I'd be paying my $250 deductible no matter where I went. I chose Safelite because they could do the repair at my house, which is beyond convenient. I also liked that I was able to book them online and that they'd handle finishing up the insurance paperwork for me. Hopefully I won't need another windshield repaired anytime soon, but if I do I'll happily pick Safelite again. read more

The guy who did mine told me how to indirectly treat it within 24 hours, like removing a couple strips of specialty tape after a few hours and no power washing within that total time--easy stuff. i had an appointment with Safelite on Feb 14, from 12 pm until 5 pm, it was a chance of rain thst day but it cleared up by twelve but they called me and canceled the appointment earlier that morning. The appointment was cancelled until Feb 15, the same time frame, so on the fifteenth the technician called me at three-thirty and said he would be arriving in thirty minute. It was four-thirty and I looked on there web site and I saw he was going to the wrong address now all the information that I received had the correct address so I called the field office and talk to a customer service person who treated me like I made the mistake which I didn't but by that time the technician was at the door. just when I thought my ordeal was over he came back to my door to tell me that there was something wrong with the glass that he brought out and he would have to reschedule. The new appointment would be a week later. I'm very frustrated because everything that happen was of Safelite doing and now instead of justifying the situation quickly they are prolonging it another week this is not how I think a first time customer should be treated. If I could leave a review with negative stars, I would. Twice in 2 1/2 years I've gone into this location to have a rock chip in my windshield repaired. The first time in 2016 the manager told me they didn't have time to do the repair regardless that there were no customers there and they weren't near closing time. When I pointed out that they seemed to be idle, he then changed the story to say that I'd need an insurance claim filed first & my insurance company might not waive the deductible. He was simply & utterly uninterested in fixing my windshield. Flash forward to today & I walk into their new building & a young technician asks if he can help me & I said yes, I needed to have another rock chip repaired. He said he could do it right now but, as he said this, the same manager from 2016 walks in & says he needs to look at the chip first. I should have walked out right there but, I hoped this guy might have improved his customer service skills. Nope. Again he says I need to file a claim with insurance first & they may not waive the deductible depending on who I have. I told him the deductible would be waived but he said he wouldn't fix the chip today unless I paid out of pocket or had a claim. I called my insurance company & they said no claim needed to be opened first but, we went ahead & opened one. I want back inside to say the claim was now open but, instead of "I can fix that right now," there was suddenly a 45 min wait yet no additional customers had arrived. Needless to say I walked out & will again schedule mobile service. Bottom line, I like Safelite Auto Glass but, go to ANY other location than 10306 Shawnee Mission Pkwy. read more

On the day of service, we were told that one of the replacements was a 2-person job and only one person was scheduled. Then our other vehicle didn't have insurance approval.
