Review / Complaint - Discount Plumbing Point of contact: Luis Our elderly neighbor, whom we help care for, contacted us to let us know she was experiencing plumbing issues at her home. Unfortunately, we were not home at the time. She then contacted Discount Plumbing and spoke with Luis, who advised that he would send a technician out the same day to check the issue. When the technician arrived, he was unable to communicate effectively with our neighbor due to a language barrier. No receipt, written estimate, or documentation was provided at the time of service, and no clear explanation of the problem was given. The technician stated there was an issue with the septic tank. However, the septic tank was replaced approximately one year ago. He did not remove the lids or properly inspect the system. Instead, he simply ran a snake and charged $225.00. On March 6, I contacted Luis to ask basic questions about what work had been performed so we could follow up with the septic system installer if necessary. Luis responded with a very dismissive attitude and stated that he did not need to explain anything to me about the service. I attempted to explain that our neighbor is elderly and hard of hearing and that we were only trying to understand the situation, but he was not willing to assist. The conversation ended with him hanging up the phone. This level of customer service and lack of transparency is very concerning. The technician also appeared unsure of how to proceed and repeatedly asked the homeowner where he should apply the snake, which raised concerns about his experience. Because no written estimate or proper documentation was provided, I will be obtaining the company's business license information and filing a formal complaint regarding compliance with written estimate requirements. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this company. Poor communication, lack of documentation, and unprofessional customer service are unacceptable. read more

I guess he took down my previous complaint. But be aware this guy Luis, is very unprofessional. He caused a leakage in my bathroom from attempting to unclog my toilet. He stated that the charge was be $175 but once he got to my house, he wanted to charge me $500 but end up giving me a so-called discount for $400 and did not fix the problem. Once again, he did not fix the problem and still $400. But yet a leakage in my house that wasn't there prior to his arrival I have water damage on my downstairs ceiling he's going to claim he's not responsible for his damages. But moving forward with big mess in my house I'm going to the Better Business Bureau, the city of Victorville, my insurance knows exactly what happened and my ENTIRE FAMILY AND ATTORNEY!!! read more

My water heater went out and after calling around they were the most reasonable and efficient there was no delay in coming out and replacing my water heater didn't tell to upsell me (like the other companies) and still giving me everything that was needed and did an excellent job! Then I had to call for my irrigation valve was pouring out and got quotes from landscaping companies ( didn't realize a plumber can do that ) so I again called discount plumber they came no delays and did another awesome job.... And the cost was 1/2 of what I was quoted by others. Who by the way never called back after coming by to see the job. Since then I used them for my irrigation valve replacement and put a shit off handle while working in a very tight area. Discount plumbing has always answered my call even on the weekends and has been nothing but kind and got someone out to fix my issues and did it correctly no short cuts! Called for a quick easy fix they tried to charge $375 for a $20 fix. Having a professional company fix it for $250 the same day with a one year warranty and $25 off for being a new client. It's ridiculous they call themselves discount plumbing. read more

One of their "specialists" told me I have galvanized pipe for my water main. My house was built in 1981. Galvanized pipe went out yrs. before that. The house has PVC with copper running into the home. Luis gave me an estimate of $2000-2500 and when I questioned the huge variance he immediately lower it to $1950. Only problem was, he didn't know the distance for the repiping. Most "honest" plumbers quote the water main per ft. It's about 25', at his quoted rate, that's about $75 per ft. Normally, that job would cost $35 a ft As it turns out, I used Hitt Plumbing (which has been around Apple Valley forever) and they fixed it for $235 because the main didn't need to be replaced as "discount" plumping recommended. read more

My "regular" plumber was very busy and could not take this job so I called Discount Plumbing to try to get the problem taken care of for the tenant in a timely manner. They came out to a rental house we manage, could not access the main clean out because he did not have the proper tools or knowledge to do it the correct or normal way...............removed a toilet and ran a snake down aprox. 100 feet is what the plumber told the tenant he had done and the backed up water went down and was draining when he left. He then presented me with an invoice for $250.00 which I thought was high. I paid the invoice with information over the phone and did not see the invoice until I had paid it. The next day the tenant called and said he had standing water in the shower so whatever Luis did, did not work. I called back to ask Luis to please go back and check. Called Discount plumbing because I had a leak from a bathroom pipe upstairs had leaked into the closet ruining the ceiling. It looked way worse than it was and I could have been taken for a ride. Luckily Luis sent a plumber out that same day. They have special equipment to find he leak and he found it in just a couple minutes and replaced that pipe and had everything done in an hour. I had a clogged drain. Water was spilling onto my laundry floor where my washing machine was emptying. The specialist cleaned the pipe from the outside with an auger, but that did not take care of the problem. He recommended that I wash half loads instead of full loads so the water would not back up and flow onto my laundry floor. I then requested him to run his auger from the laundry room and down into the wall. He said he would do that to give me "peace of mind". That took care of the problem. The blockage was at the "P" stop, he said. That's the curve where water serves a a barrier against smells backing up from the main sewer line and into the house. He charged me $115 and said that the cleaning from outside the house was warranted for a specific amount of time but that the cleaning from inside the house was not. read more

The owner Luis Romero came to my home and claimed to do a diagnostic test to my water heater by installing a thermal couple for $115.00. He claimed this was the problem, a day later it failed. I called the owner of Discount Plumbing and he refused to guarantee it and insisted I needed a new water heater for a certain price. I had to call another plumbing service company and they informed me that Discount Plumbing installed the thermal couple but left it loose. Most likely, with the intention to service and to install a new water heater. I believe he is all about the quantity for his business not the quality of service.
