They also take same day appointments which is awesome! Replacing 4 tires took 3 hours to complete (same day). Then I get to my car after completion in the parking lot and all of the doors had been left unlocked. The glove box was found open and money I had hidden inside for a rainy day was stolen. Lesson learned-- Next time I won't be leaving any kind of valuables in my car at a shop (even hidden). I commend Discount Tire as a company. I've lived in different states/cities, and have never had anything less than stellar reviews about each location. This one is no exception. I scheduled a tire change appointment and they started working on my car within 15 minutes, while trying to accommodate some of the drop ins. Writing this as a loyal discount tire customer of over 10 years. Went in with 1 flat tire in the front and 4 pirelli tires. Salesman told me i had all Yokohama tires. Then proceeded to put the new tire on the front. When i got to the car and realized the new tire wasn't on the rear like it is supposed to be i called them and the manager, Elmer, very politely told me that was a mistake on their end and to come in and get it fixed. When I came in another salesman tried to convince me I didn't need to rotate the tire to the back, and should instead consider buying another new tire instead. Had to ask him multiple times to please just follow the protocol that is written on discount tire receipts and put the new tire on the rear. Highly rec this business during COVID. I'm a 30 year old female and hate dealing with car issues but had a hassle free tire replacement process with them. 1. I rec calling them even if it take a a few rings to get through. My fiancé and I called Discount Tire on a busy Saturday and put in an order for two tires that needed to be replaced on a RAV-4. We didn't pay at the time, but they gave me an appointment for one business day later. 2. I stopped by during my scheduled appointment at noon on a weekday. A few other customers were present but all were spaced out sitting outside and wearing masks. I felt very safe. I am taking off a star since they have "check-in" signs when you pull in but no one actually helps you. You have to park then go in to the shop to actually get helped. No WiFi for waiting customers -- one star automatically deducted from my rating just for that. While I'm waiting for my tire to be repaired, I need to log on to the office and work. Discount Tire will not help you be productive during your wait. Techs seem generally competent at this location, more so than the Ben White location. I've bought two sets of tires here and had one replacement under road hazard warranty. No issues so far. When you get a replacement under the road hazard warranty, you have to pay again for the warranty on the new tire. That's a total rip off. Not happy at all about that. My wife's tire caught a big bolt due to the construction on Mopac and Slaughter lane. I wasn't sure the tire could be patched or the cost of patching or replacing the tire would be but skeptically I took it to this location anyway. They were quite helpful and said they thought they could patch it . They called me up a 1/2 hour later and said it was done. Well, it turns out they marked the wrong tire for inspection/fixing and told me there was no bolt in the tire after all. When I pointed out to them that the bolt was still present, they quickly pulled it back in and made it right. They also said it was free of charge due to their mistake!! I am waiting on a movie to be made about the very eerie curse of my back left tire. It has been damaged THREE TIMES in the past 18 months through random various circumstances, and each time, the pros at Discount Tire have helped make it like it never happened. They're patient and trustworthy, speedy and do a good job. I don't know the first thing about tires, so I want to feel like I'm being guided and not being taken advantage of in these situations. The sales team explained exactly what I needed to know, showed options comparable with what I had, as well as cheaper or more upgraded options, and explained the pros and cons so I could make my own decision. I would give this location four stars just because of how busy they are (but they'll be opening one closer to me, which is great for me, and will help lighten their load here), but they've done a fantastic job of finding and training employees that offer great customer service (to balance out the busyness and wait times). 10 stars for their customer service! We're longtime customers of Discount Tires (almost 15years, and in about 5 different cities), and haven't had issues like the other lower-star reviewers. This is definitely the busiest location I've ever walked into, but the employees were great. Even with how busy they are, they do a great job answering phone calls in between in-store customers, working as a team to welcome walk-ins or answer phones...it just seems like they enjoy their work and try hard to make customers happy...or at least try to keep customers from getting too annoyed (which so many businesses lack these days). I've been a customer of Discount Tire for years and have never had any issues. Last June or so I had a flat, and found the screw dead center of my front right tire. I threw in the spare and took the car over for the repair over my lunch break. No sweat. Fast forward a few months and I'm doing a full detail before winter hits. I was removing everything when I realized - I had no spare. I'd never gotten in back! I called the store and explained the situation (and yes, they asked why it took so long to discover this, but how often do YOU check your spare tire well?) and they said no problem, they had a record of me coming in for a flat repair in my spare, so come on in. Well, I got COVID literally days later and wasn't able to make the appointment. Then I sort of forgot about it while recovering then the holidays. I bought a new set of tires in early March and once again explained the situation when I took the car in. The person who was helping me had a record of the repair and said they could, "Make it right." It was never made right. When I went to pick up the car, the new person said there was nothing they could do, and that was that. FYI a new factory spare for my car is almost $400 from the dealer. I've set up alerts for OKP on S. Congress but no matches yet (tires and wheels go fast at pick and pull yards). I've had to resort to keeping a couple of cans of Fix A Flat and a tire inflator pump in the spare well. Oh well. Service has always been good at this location, but not owning up to costly mistakes is sort of unforgivable for me. I'll probably just start buying from Tire Rack again and just get a local shop to mount and balance for me. read more

For starters I worked as a tire tech for almost 6 years. I brought my vehicle to the Slaughter Ln/Manchaca location in Austin. I had a screw in one of my tires and needed a rotate and balance. It has been at the least 1 1/2-2 years since I've had my tires rotated/balanced. I received a phone call notifying me my vehicle was ready. When I went to pick up my keys they told me my tire could not be fixed and I would need to pay for the new tire. When I asked why they said because the angle of the screw and the plug patch would not work. They put a new tire on my vehicle without a phone call confirming that's what I wanted or even to ask what kind of tire I would like. I have a 1/2 ton pickup Chevy Silverado LT. I currently have P265/70R17 on my truck. They put a 10 ply LT265/70R17 on my vehicle. That tire is made for 3/4 ton trucks and heavier. When I asked why they said because my truck is a LT. LT is the trim package for Chevy and has nothing to do with weight of my vehicle or the tires that go on it. I told them they should have searched the history and looked at what I currently had on there. Come to find out they no longer make the tires I have. Which isn't the issue I would have happily picked out a different tire. I wanted to see my old tire before I decided to buy a new one to see if it in fact is repairable. In my opinion looked to be a simple fix and the plug patch would in fact work. At this point I wanted to talk to a manager. I asked sales guy while I'm waiting for manager I would like my spare put on and I will take my tire elsewhere to be repaired. Manager was in his office and told sales guy to let me know he will be with me in a few minutes. Waited 15-20 minutes and my vehicle was ready. Another sales guy comes out to let me know my vehicle is ready and the manager was too busy and had a zoom meeting about to start. "Why did he tell the other sales guy he'd be out here in a few minutes to talk to me??" I was told he was the only one that knew about the meeting. "Well when first sales guy went and told him I wanted to talk to him why did he say he would be out in a few minutes?" He didn't have an answer. So while I'm explaining everything to this guy I'm looking at the rest of my tires and noticed none of the wheel weights are new or had been moved. My truck is dirty so you can clearly see the lug nuts where they put my spare on had been taken on and off. None of my other tires had been touched. He told they had and they just balanced out without needing any weights. That's BS!! Pics posted below proving I am right! If i could leave 0 stars I would! Very displeased with the dishonesty and trying to give me the run around. After reading a couple other reviews this is a recurring problem. I did get my tire repaired elsewhere with the plug patch and without any issues!! Bruce Halle the founder of Discount Tire said "Be honest, work hard, be grateful, have fun and pay it forward." Not worth the wait at all. Sent me a text saying it would be done by 9:35 and again they haven't even driven it in to the bay. They told us to bring in our car and they would fix it, free of charge. We went to pick it up and got home and the screw was still there. We drove back and caught Stacy and Ray as they were closing up and they took the time to fix it, as apparently the guys before had serviced the wrong tire (that didn't have a screw in it). They were both so gracious and stuck around to see that it was fixed since I have a lot of driving to do for work tomorrow.
