We were told it would be approximately 5:30 pm before they could get to us. I thought that IS a long time, but needed it done for a trip next week. A man & his son came in after 4pm, the man started complaining about his wait, "this is ridiculous!" He was told his Jeep would be the next vehicle in the first bay. This morning, I arrived at the Georgetown, TX Discount Tire for a balancing. I opened their app and I checked in. Received an acknowledgement that I was the first in line. After waiting 45 mins since I arrived I saw that customers were lining up at the door. 8am and all the customers went inside but no Discount Tire reps came out to my vehicle. I went inside and talked to a rep who confirmed that they NO LONGER use that application. Then why have it on your site!!! I wasted an hour waiting for them to look at my tires. We brought in two vehicles for tire and wheel service. On one vehicle getting new tires/rims, they failed to synchronize the tire pressure system. Reached out for an appointment to fix and didn't hear back. Now I'm going to have trek down there and hope for the best. We had to supervise the work as they forgot to put the wheel caps back on the first time they mounted the tires on the truck. On the second vehicle, one of their techs scuffed the door when they opened the door of the vehicle adjacent to it. Their insurance company denied the claim, so I had to take care of it myself. Wasn't a big deal in the end, but it cost me time out of my day to get it fixed. They get a lot of business and it's a very busy place. Good for them. I would just like to say that Will and Gunner (I hope I'm spelling that right) were so amazingly helpful and sweet throughout this whole process. Come Christmas morning to find out I had a flat tire. Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year at that! However they walked me through all of my options, and wanted to make sure I was getting the best deal possible considering I travel basically an hour to work each day. They were super accommodating and were easily able to pull up all of my information from the other location I visited which was in a different state. They even gave recommendations of places I can get an alignment since they do not offer that service at their specific location. The patience and courteousness to answer every question despite my concern, and frustration was commendable. I am still bummed I have to wait a couple of extra days for the specific tires to come in, but the delivery and service is still pretty fast regardless and I won't be missing work because of it. I only spoke to these two gentlemen, but even having my mom on the call to listen in I can tell they care about their customers and the work they provide. I experienced shady service practices and forced sales. Here's what happened to me. I had a flathead nail in my tire shoulder, almost in the sidewall. Tires with nails in the shoulder or sidewall should not be repaired. They must be replaced. This is a Discount Tire policy and common knowledge in the tire industry. I had heard about Discount Tire's less-than-honest practices from friends, and I wanted to evaluate the one closest to me (in Georgetown. TX) for myself. So here's the deal. My tire was holding air. And it was still on my car. When I get there, the attendant tells me that since the nail is in the shoulder of the tire, they *may* not be able to repair it. May? As if they didn't already know on sight. Hmm. So I went with it and he continued: If we can't repair it, we'll need to replace all four tires because they didn't carry the Hanook Kinergy tire I had on my car. I told him we'd cross that bridge if it couldn't be repaired. He said ok and went to relay the info to the tech assigned to my car. Not a good sign. A few minutes later, the tech came to tell me that the tire couldn't be repaired because the nail was in the shoulder. Remember, both the attendant and the tech could have already told me that on first sight. So why didn't they? What was happening here? The tech reconfirmed I'd need four new tires. So I told him that the tire was at least holding air right now and I would figure out what I wanted to do later. Then came the reveal. They had already removed the nail. But why? In an effort to repair the tire which they know they can't repair!? Well played...As mentioned, Discount Tire's policy prevents repairs on tires with nails in the shoulder. All big-name tire service businesses do. So there was no reason to touch my tire at that point. I asked them to put on my spare tire. But they told me that by law, they couldn't put it on because it was the original spare for the car and older than 10 years. And that was true. So they won. They successfully forced a sale. They pulled the nail from my tire to ensure I couldn't leave without buying at least one tire. So I bought one tire. As a spare. Both the attendant and the tech were there now behind the cash register, strongly discouraging me from buying just one tire because of all the wear and stress it would put on the other tires. Again, all true. But like I told them, I won't have it on there for long... They were disappointed. I was disappointed. But for wildly different reasons. My advice, give your money to an honest tire service center that will tell you the situation up front, without all the shady service tactics. My next test: The Discount Tire return policy on a recently bought tire. read more

I made an appointment for a new tire consultation at 3:15PM and left with brand new tires by 3:45!! The sales rep was not pushy and made my visit extremely easy and efficient. But that's not the entire reason I give this shop 5 stars. There was a salty, grumpy old man chewing out one of the reps for selling his teenage son a full-size tire for his Jeep. Rather than teaching his son how to navigate expensive decisions, he took it upon himself to gripe and blame the shop for selling his son a tire. He even went as far as name dropped a manager's first name, but not his last because he forgot, from another store. I just want to praise the sales rep who kept his composure in front of this man. He never once raised his voice and gracefully offered a refund. I highly recommend this shop for their patience and quick service! read more

I was walking to my car after an appointment here in Georgetown and noticed my tire was almost completely flat, Im not to familiar with Georgetown, I prayed and asked God to help me and bring me to a safe spot where I could get help. As I was driving I saw Discount Tire, it was a sign of relief, I got down and even though the lobby was full, Manny took care of me in a timely and friendly manner, while waiting, I could see how the staff worked as a team to help each customer, this is by far the best customer service I have seen and received at a Tire shop. I called to see how much it would cost to have my tires rotated. I was told it was free. I said Free? The lady said yes it ALLWAYS free. So I made an appointment, had to wait 2 weeks as they are busy. Showed up for my appointment and was told it was going to be $25 per tire so rotating all 4 tires and the spare comes to $125.00. (plus tax, etc, etc). I mentioned that I was told it was free and they said it cost the first time but it's free after that. I guess the lady that answered the phone is either stupid, ignorant of the 'rules' or just plain deceptive. Needless to say I left without rotating the tires. On a side note, I am here for the winter. Tire rotation in my home town is a flat $30.00. Discount is not only deceptive but they are gouging the customers. As a follow up, I called a competitor a few miles from Discount tire. Total charge for tire rotation $21.95 (+tax). Discount is ripping you off. Stay away! read more

I needed new tires on my 2005 Tacoma. Previously, I have gone to Costco for Michelin 245 75 R16 tires. With nails discovered within the past week in the front and rear tires and "George Washington's head" showing on the quarter test, repair was not in the cards. A friend suggested Discount Tires where he experience excellent service. Naturally I phoned and visited various places. Discount Tires on Rivery Blvd. had the most courteous staff by far, all the answers to my questions, and the best price. I made an appointment. When I arrived and after a short wait because of the long line, I was greeted, and immediately the Tacoma was taken into the bay. The tech, Hunter, did everything I wanted done: pressure in the four tires at 32 lbs., the one remaining good tire replacing the old spare under the truck with 35 lbs. of pressure. This was the best experience in purchasing tires in over 50 years of driving. When I departed one of the managers asked if I had a good experience. I replied it was the best. I will return to Discount Tires at Rivery in the future and refer friends to them. read more

Usually I LOVE Discount Tire. The people here work hard, are efficient, thorough and NICE. Today I needed some new tires and, of course, headed to Discount Tire. All employees, without exception, were wearing masks. Here's the problem: Discount Tire does not REQUIRE their customers to wear masks. While waiting for my tires to be mounted approximately 30% of the customers were NOT WEARING MASKS. And they were all in the waiting area for prolonged periods. As an RN I know how devastating this virus can be. And you don't know if you will be the one who the virus barely touches, or the one who dies from it. We are not out of the woods yet where Covid is concerned. A business can require a stricter standard than what the government currently allows. Many businesses have adopted a stricter standard and require masks. As a customer, I was VERY uncomfortable and felt unsafe while waiting for my vehicle (a two hour wait). And Discount Tires: what about your employees? Don't they deserve to feel safe as well? You may want to wait until Covid is over before going to Discount Tires. read more

I made an appointment to get a leaking tire fixed. I am a senior citizen and drove from the next town. Came a little early for my appointment and could not even find a parking spot. I finally did and stepped in the front door. The place was totally full - no chairs left and people were standing including me. For the next 20 minutes, the line I was in did NOT move - not even by one person. I saw the guys out in the garage area and they were running - literally. 20 minutes is way too long to wait in a non-moving line of customers. Discount Tire should not overbook like this. Robots. I called this location and explained I have a custom car with a custom wheel and tire setup and needed to order a certain tire. I explained in great detail that their computer system likely had outdated and incorrect information regarding the type and size of tore for my vehicle, but assured them that I had been running this particular setup for over 4 years now and that it was the preferred setup by the majority of enthusiasts. I double checked over the phone with them, to ensure I wouldn't run into any issues. They guaranteed me everything made sense and was fine and that once the fire came in, I'd be good to go. We'll I ordered the tire on a Wednesday and was told it would be in Friday night ready for Saturday install. Didn't happen. Nor did it come in on Monday. They finally called me Tuesday at 5:30 (they close at 6) to let me know the tire had come in. So now it was 1 week... I show up Wednesday, using a very temporary patch on my tire to get there, to have my fire installed and it was as if I had never talked to them on the phone. They wouldn't install the tire, telling me their "computer" says it's not the right one. But to make matters even worse, they wouldn't even sell me the tire to take elsewhere to have installed. So now I'm stranded here, waiting for a tow truck. Talked to the manager John who had a smug attitude and kept telling me I didn't know what I was talking about. I explained to him again, I understand you have to go by what your computer says but that's why I took the time to call in first and make sure I wasn't going to have this problem. Also, while I was there, seems like other customers were very unhappy, lots of issues. My advice, avoid this place. Robots who will tell you they have no brains and can only go by what the computer says. read more

I ran over a nail and it was located in the "sweet spot" a place on the tire that can be easily patched. After waiting 1 and 1/2 hours they came back and told me my tire was no good and I would need a new one. I told them to put my spare on and give me my tire back.. went over to Young Blood tires in round rock and they fixed my tire that had the nail in it with no problem. read more

Been to many many discount tires over the years. Long time discount tire customer. This is the second time I have been to this location. Every time I walk in the door of this store there is a line literally almost out the door. This is not the kind of customer service I've come to expect from discount tire. I hope the corporate headquarters is listening and it allows this place to hire more people. Why do the other branches who have the same number of check out lines (3) (edit: they don't all just have 3 POS stations) seem to process their customers requests and not have these same long lines... If you have an appointment you're still going to wait in line to be seen as they do not separate out those folks who have appointments who arrive to give their keys. Bottom-line is this is a NO GO. They need help! That is all yelp on! (EDIT) Went to the Killeen store and they have 7 Point of Sale registers...and they are always staffed at a level to keep those 7 points active. So this seems to be the difference...Corporate here's your sign :) Oh and they have a manager who communicates with their customers and actively reaches out to ensure they are satisfied with their transactions. This is my first time using a Discount Tire out of town, and I would give them 10 if I could! I found some wheels online I wanted and had to go into store being I couldn't order them online since their fitment chart wouldn't allow purchase for my vehicle. It has a 10" lift and 38's on it. I was going for a 12" wide wheel. Went here to the Georgetown location next day and "Jimmy" had stated that the wheels I wanted were discontinued as well. So he went through other options for me. Another set I liked were $295 each instead of the $150 for the first set I wanted. Not only did he beat the price of other competitors by $80 each wheel I also got my 5% military discount on top of it. It took 6 days to come out of California which was reasonable. Instead of the total out the door being $1375 my total was $942. I got a set of 20x12 wheels for $433 total off!! And no charge for mount/dismount, lug nuts, balancing! It was all included! Forget the mom and pop shops. The company stood by their "We'll beat any competitors price"! Completely happy! My wait was 3.5 hours even with appointment but I won't complain about that read more

Never did I expect getting my new tires would be so, pleasant?! What the...They call me an hour ahead and tell me they have my name on a sign our front. I get there and the most chipper lil elf (hey may have been a manager) walked me through the whole process, asked me a few questions took me inside where the place had holiday decor and a bunch of smiling faces. Everyone was working with a sense of urgency ro get to the next person, to the extent that some customers were asked multiple times if they had been helped. They gave me a chilled water and had me our in 25 minutes stary to finish. Again, What the???? Then to top it off they broke one of my studs. They are going to pay for it but now I have to go somewhere else and get this repair done.
