I always have a relatively good experience regarding tire pressure checks at Discount Tire, but my latest visit to a North Side location off I-45 was great. The service provided by Nathanael was exceptional. He explained that some of the tires were off by 2 points during the assessment, and added air to the tires. I will never go back to this location as far as getting air in my tire. I sat in line for 15 mins and I'm the only one in line and no one came to say anything to me. I finally got out of my car and ask one of the four people that was just standing around will someone come to assist me. One of the guys said yes I told someone that you were out here and another 10 mins passed before the assistant mgr came out. Incredible service! I called and let them know that my friend who is a single mother of three boys, had a flat tire and needed to get it fixed so she could drive to work in the morning. One of my tires had a slow leak. I was told that my tire was not repairable. The first thing I did was give the technician a hard time because I have been a victim of male chauvinism in male dominant businesses involve buying a cars, mechanic shops, or tire shops. I usually have to be accompanied by a male to get honest and fair service. Javier my technician remained cool calm and collective the whole time and OFFERED to show me. Upon walking back into the building I saw the chart that explains what he told me in detail. I kindly apologized to him and thanked him for his honesty and let him know I appreciate his customer service. Next I was pretty disappointed that I was going to have to buy a new tire. I just started a new job and didn't have the funds. He transparently explained the discount tire card process along with warranty info and I was approved. He gave me a breakdown of the payments and got me a next day appointment because my tire had to be ordered. The next day I called to cancel my appt forgetting about a pre scheduled doctors appt. He took care of my paperwork to get service on my side of town making it more convenient for me. Then he called me apologizing for contacting me at work, but wanted to let me know my tire was in earlier than expected and I could make it before my doc appt! Well, the first thing one might notice is if compared to it's competitors like NTB, Pep Boys, Firestone etc, they always seem to come out the least expensive. If your size is not available they are linked to each other and are able to get them delivered to the place where you are at within a few hours. This particular store is set back a little from I 45 North Freeway surrounded by a good choice of stores to shop at while you are waiting. There is a Best Buy on the right, Main-ly Sandwiches and a Taqueria next door, Starbucks at the front of it and a Walmart within walking distance so a little wait can be entertained by the surroundings. Coffee, bottled water and about 10 seats are available as well. The attitude and service here are what I would describe where you would even send your own mother too. I arrived at 4pm on a Friday afternoon to have 2 tires replaced. As usual for Discount Tire there was a line so I waited patiently for my turn. Luke assisted me. It was hot... fry an egg on the sidewalk hot... but Luke and I went outside to do the quick inspection, then he proceeded to assist w/ my purchase. After settling on a tire, ringing it up, and waiting almost an hour (it was really busy), Luke was informed their location didn't have my choice of tire in stock, however, there was a slight upgrade available so he upgraded at no additional cost or hassle. Mistakes happen everyday right? Human error. Well I dropped my car off this morning at 8. A tire had to be ordered and I was told I could pickup at 1pm. I come back to find out that Discount Tire changed out my brand new tire instead of my damaged tire. When I went to get this corrected, FOR THEIR ERROR, I was met by Joseph who made this even worse! When your company has made a mistake it is NOT your job to argue with the customer, continuously! It does not matter who checked us in, wrote it up, didn't inspect the car etc! While the tire prices are good, the customer service is seriously lacking at this location. Dustin was very rude and condescending when speaking with me. I feel that there was no reason for him to chastise me for rotating my tires. There was no need for him to calculate the amount of rotations I had missed and point that out to me. I have had a similar experience with Carlos at this location as well. while I like Discount, I realize that it is chain and I will just take my business to either the Willowbrook or Airtex locations from now on.
