Paid for an AC diagnostic because my AC was not blowing cold, it turns out that I was just low on Freon, it took them 45 minutes to do this "diagnostic" to come back and try to tell me that I would need to spend an additional $230 or $240 to flush out my system and fill it up because they couldn't determine if the issue had to do with the air balance diverter in my dash, which they also said they were going to try and charge me so that they can "diagnose" that. First off, it took 45m to put in 5lbs of Freon? When this guy tried to tell me all this crap, he and I both knew that I was not gonna come back. I ended up, leaving from there went to Walmart got a can of Freon, put a third of that can in my system, and my AC has been blowing cold ever since. No air diverter Balance issues, probably no leaks that I can see because I'm looking at this thing with the black light. It turns out that my Freon was just low. Places like this, make it hard for honest hard-working people to get the help that they need. Some unlucky schmuck will end up spending hundreds of dollars because these guys wanna make a quick buck at the expense of someone else's ignorance. Do not go to this Pep Boys location, the service manager is a cheat and a shade tree Mechanic who wants to pray on the ignorance of others to make a quick buck. read more

I want in for a simple brake pad changing on a mustang gt . After hours of waiting , got told they did a a brake pad and rotors replacement. Never asked for a rotor change and didn't need it . I was still charged for the labor and parts of something I didn't need . My advice is to be very specific on what you want . I come into this store with a flat after being turned away from Discount Tire down the street. Not only were the guys at Pep Boys professional and attentive, but also it was about an hour from closing time, and it didn't show if they were dying to get out of there (let's face it, long work days are called "long" for a reason). Long story short, they fixed my flat. FOR FREE! I'm not sure if that's company policy; regardless, it's good will. ...and their restroom was nice and clean. I peed in it. Bad Experience and Services If there was an option for zero stars, I would put that instead. This morning, I needed an oil change and tire rotation for my car. The receipt said that I got both the oil change and tire rotation. However, prior to bringing my car there, I marked the tires to make sure they would be rotated. After I brought my car home, the tires were still the same as before. When I realized, I went back and told them to rotate my tires. I then brought my car home once again and noticed a wheel nut on one of the tires was not tight-- loose enough for me to open it by hand. Now from these two things, I am even more suspicious on whether or not they changed my oil. The person working at the front desk was named Matthew and the mechanic was Hernan. I thought Pep Boys was a big company name with high standards, but now, I am only disappointed with their services, even the most basic ones. A big shout out to Rafael and his crew today. Had a slow leak in my tire and rolled up about 4:30. Rafael let me know it would be about 45 min before he could get to it. Straight up from the get go. Told me if I could cone back in an hour he had me. I knew that was 30 min from closing and I mentioned that. He said no problem. And I be damn if it wasn't!!! I arrived at 5:30 and my car was in a stall at 5:31. It was a very pinpoint hole and by the time I rolled out it was 6:15 but they found it and fixed it with nothing but a great ass attitude. So kudos to this Sunday crew and thank you. You got a customer with this unselfish customer service. read more

I should have paid attention to the reviews.... I went by there last week on Good Friday to check on some service work that my car needed. When I walked into the shop the manager (Bruce) was getting ready to make a phone call. He was the only person at the desk. He didn't acknowledge me in any way other than to motion to me that he would be with me after the call. No big deal so I waited. The call took about 5 minutes and then we talked. I will assume that the call was urgent because he should have waited on me first. I briefly told him of my problem and that they would need to test drive it and put it on the lift to examine it properly. I didn't have time then to do it so I asked if they would be open the next day (Sat) and he said yes 7-7. I arrived the next morning at 6:58 a.m. into the empty parking lot. A pickup truck entered right behind me. I got out of my car parked right in front of their office door and stood. The pickup door opened and Bruce got out and started walking to the office door with his head down. As he approached I said "Good Morning" and he said nothing. As he got within 5 feet of me I said Good Morning again. This time he muttered something like 'mornin'. I said are you ok? And he said he was tired. He unlocked the office door went in and turned on the lights and sat on a chair at the counter. I didn't go in because I wasn't sure if he was ready to take customers. So I just stood there standing by my car 5 feet from the glass office door waiting for him to ask if he could help me or offer me to come in or anything...nothing happened for almost 5 minutes. He was totally ignoring me and I was the only person there other than him!!! Finally, I had enough and decided to leave. I walked in the door and said 'just thought I would say have a nice day'. He looked at me and said 'okay!' I then got in the car and left. I drove to another repair shop 5 minutes away and got my car fixed at a cost of over $950. Maybe they are good mechanics or not, I don't know. What I do know is they they lack a complete understanding of customer service and lost my business. The manager has a bad attitude and is obviously mad about something. Life? Don't go here!!! read more

I have used this Pep Boys location a few times with good results. However, I stopped in to find out why my parking lights were an orange color, not having noticed other cars were the same. The mechanic pulled the bulb and assured me the bulb was working properly. I have to believe he touched the bulb, which you are not supposed to do. Consequently, soon after the bulb stopped working. There was a bubble on the bulb when it blew out. What bothers me the most is why, who I am assuming was the Service Manager, told me they should run diagnostics on my car. At the time the time the bulb was working, so what made him try to get me to pay for diagnostics for a headlight? I can tell you exactly why, as a woman, he was trying to take advantage and would probably be laughing all the way to the bank had I agreed. I don't recall his name but he looked like he had been in a car wreck or a bar fight because his face was covered in scabbed over cuts and bruises. There was an arrogance about him that was not professional. It is my opinion he only cared about his sales numbers and he would rather take advantage of me than keep me as a customer. For these reasons I will never go back to that location. Ladies, please beware. There are plenty of other auto repair shops who do not feel the need to take advantage of a woman. Rafael was so helpful!!! I was having problems with my headlights being very dim to the point that it was hard for me to see while driving at night. I took my car in to an Jersey Village auto shop but they supposedly could not find any problem but said they could order some LED headlights for me (which I found out are illegal in Texas); so I went to Advanced Auto across the street who were, also, very helpful. They told me that my bulbs may be getting dim with age so I purchased some new bulbs. They recommended that I see Rafael at Pep Boys if I needed help with installation. Rafael promptly walked to my car in the parking lot and installed the bulbs for me at no charge. Night driving is so much better now!!! I will definitely be returning to this shop for other repairs that I need and gladly pay for them. I recommend this place to anyone looking for an honest mechanic. read more

I had two good experiences at Pep Boys. Both times I got oil changes and both times the service was good! I got a fair price and a fair time of getting the oil change done. One of the workers, (it was a while ago but maybe his name was Montrell?), gave me a great price and when it rang up at a higher price he honored the lower price he gave me earlier and he even gave me a $5 discount on top of that price. Terrible, terrible and terrible! I have used PepBoys in several states and gotten my cars inspected in 4 different countries. However, in my recent exchange with this one on Jones Road, I have never experienced as much lack of customer service. Pointers... * Employees did not show any willingness to help * Employees took all seats in the waiting area for more than 25 minutes * Employees do not give the same instructions * Incorrect paper work given * Employees harsh language, body language, improper usage of word and aggregation * Safety concern Short said, serious lack of management and be aware of second guessing their work. I ended to go across the street and got all my car issues fixed in less than 15 minutes. read more

Similar to the other comments I am a fan of Pep Boys on Jones Rd. I have used other mechanic shops in the Houston area and when it comes to the quality of service this shop delivers. The mechanics are skilled and knowledgeable professionals. Al, Greg, and Bill are the main guys who perform the labor I never have to return to the shop for a repair that they corrected. I am a fan of purchasing parts online and they are one of the few shops that will install any aftermarket gear. I have been a customer for over a year and trust this team with both our automobiles. I have had several oil changes, radiator flush, transmission flush, brake inspection, tire rotation, spark plugs and wires, pulley and belt, hoses, basically anything under the hood or chassis they have performed preventive maintenance with 100 % accuracy trouble shooting and diagnosing engine fault light codes. If you drop off your car the management calls and updates you on findings of any leaks or future potential threats to your ride. If you are still reading this thank you and bring your car or truck in for it's next service or repair to this location. I had to replace four of the tires on my car. I first went to Discount Tire across the street. Discount Tires quoted me around $100 higher than Pep Boys. I received excellent customer service from Pep Boys and I even got my tires aligned which Discount Tires does not do. I highly recommend Pep Boys if you ever need tires for your car. read more

The weather was really bad and while my truck was on the rack and it was slow, we talked about all sorts of things. I've been going here for years and their service and knowledge has been top notch every time. Regardless of the type of service needed on my truck. Which I've had pretty much everything from oil change, brakes, tires. ( along with many more) Being a female walking into any mechanic shop is not so easy, but every employee at this location takes the time to explain everything they are doing and what needs to be done. Prices are always fair, we all know some things are pricey to begin with but not always needed and they never try and up sale you on those needless "fixes" like other mechanic shops do. I've recommended them to all I know in the jersey village area and wouldn't go anywhere else for any work that needs to be done on my truck. read more

My car was working when I took it in. No issues. No isues starting. No issues driving. All I wanted was an oil change. Now, something they did means my car is stuck on valet mode and if I drive any faster than 80 mph. After initially saying they could have done that (on one trip) and then giving me the runaround (second trip) the third trip, they basically said it wasn't their fault and I would have to shell out for my key getting reprogrammed. I dropped my car off to have the rear break system replaced and oil changed last week. The customer service was awesome. Best I've experienced in any of the multiple shops I've visited for car repairs. They were extremly quick servicing my car. I dropped it of at 8:30 am and they had it done that around 4 or 5 that evening, which suprised me due to the amount of people and cars I saw when I was dropping my car off. They seem to really have a quick and efficient system down. Also, due to my brakes being so worn out, I got a couple really concerned mechanics that sat down and explained to me that i was about to not have any brakes at all if I had driven it even once more. I was beyond impressed to find out that these guys actually care about their customers and not just emptying their wallets like some other shops. They also got me signed up for their rewards program, which was free like a kroger card, and that I found out i can spend these accrued points like cash at their shops. Any way you can save a dollar in todays world is worth it. I would emphatically recomend the guys here. They are in my experience quick, efficient, caring, and trustworthy, which is hard to come by in the car repair business. They will definately be seeing me again. read more

Strongly recommend choosing another mechanic or another Pep Boys location. While working on our vehicle the mechanic knocked debris into the engine head. The engine developed a knock and tapping within one mile of driving it and Pep Boys refused to work on it further and blamed the issue on low engine oil. read more

I like to give a place 2 tries before writing them off. Both experiences were less than stellar, the second being worse than the first. The first time I had an oil change and tire rotation. Only they didn't check the air in the tires, add air where needed nor did they reprogram the rotated tires electronically. The tires on the display panel with low air showed up in the back of the car when in fact, they were in the front! So I brought the car back and they made it right. Second time, same thing with the tires but they also charged me twice for the service. I brought it to the manager's attention less than 36 hours later. He didn't know how to get a refund but got someone to tell him what needed to be done. It's been almost 2 weeks and no refund. Due to weather, there's no one at the location right now but being told the refund should hit my account by Monday a week ago, then told by Friday when I called again, and now it's Tuesday, almost 2 weeks since the double charge occurred. Who has time to keep running back to get the job done right or continue to call to get the charges corrected? In the future, I'll try another location since this one seems to have problems following up and following through. read more

Not what they used to be ! Just as a previous review commented, they act as though I'm bothering them. I used to walk in, they would be very willing to drive me home while working on my car. Now, no way!! I had a scrapping sound coming from underneath my car, I asked if they could take a quick look and see if they saw anything dragging, the body builder looking guy said no they were to busy. I asked if he could call me when they slowed down, his remark was if someone else came in he would take them first and calling me didn't guarantee me they could check the car. No good customer care. I have a 1999 Lincoln Navigator that I had towed to Pep Boys to have a broken ignition switch replaced in the steering column. While was vehicle was there, I also had it tuned up and inspected for other items that needed to be repaired / replaced due to its age. The mechanic did an excellent job going over my entire vehicle and recommending work that needed to be done. The Manager, Jonath, was extremely nice and very helpful! He regularly kept me updated on the status of the work being performed to ensure I knew everything that was being done. I could not be happier with the quality of the service I received!! I would highly recommend this Pep Boys to anyone needing automotive work. I will continue to use this location for all my vehicle services and maintenance. read more

Well it was Sunday October 20th 2013 and I was in desperate need for a new tire most of the other tire place was closed and even Pepboys at the I arrived Mr. Jose has already closed his register but when I explained the situation to him: in a proficient manner he replied: ( I am going have to help you but I won't be able to collect the money since my register is closed!) Then I said: if you could help me sir I will not let you down I will make sure coming tomorrow after to pay. he looked at me and said: let me help you...... Do not go here !! I am very busy during the work week and Saturday mornings are my best time to get errands done. I knew I was very behind on getting my oil changed because usually I begin hearing a clicking sound ". Most of the sensors in my truck are not working properly and need fixing. Plus I was over the miles from my last oil change. Long story short, I checked in at pep boys off of hwy 6 this morning. Prior to this visit, I was told months ago that I needed to get my service engine sensor light repaired as it stays on continuously. After signing in and sitting for about 20 minutes, I was called to the front to speak with the mechanic. He insisted I have a diagnostic run on my truck. I explained to him the issues with my sensor. He said the "clicking" sound could be related to a rod breaking in my engine... I realize that sometimes there are SOME mechanics that feel they can get over on women and assume women are clueless about our vehicles. I also realize that without oil I will ruin my engine. I told him the clicking always occurs when I'm behind on my oil change and goes away after my oil change. He flat out refused to change my oil unless I agreed to pay the extra $90.00+ for a diagnostic. I asked for my keys and went down the street, got the oil changed and like magic the clicking has stopped. DO NOT GO HERE!!! WASTE OF VALUABLE TIME!!! ..If they were customer oriented pep boys should have completed the oil change and recommended I come back later for a diagnostic. read more

I've been taking my car to Bruce (and only Bruce) for years and I trust absolutely nobody else when it comes to my car. Reading prior reviews about this location I can say that if you bring an attitude into this shop you will receive an attitude, plain and simple. It's understandable that nobody wants to pay money to have their car fixed but taking anger out on the only person available to help will get you nowhere. As a Weatherford employee, I also work in customer service and have no problem turning customers away at my place of employment. Bruce has been the only manager on duty countless times I have brought my car in to be serviced and have personally witnessed some of the scum he deals with that come into his shop DEMANDING services. Nobody deserves to be spoken to and treated that way and yes service SHOULD be turned down. I think the guys at this shop are doing a wonderful job when it comes to fixing my car and I do not plan on taking my vehicle or any of my kids vehicles (when they come of age) to any other shop. Before Bruce I took my car to the dealership and that was too costly for me and my husband but Bruce is straight up front with what we need for our vehicles and that's what I like about this location. read more
